@get2sammyb 100% correct, i've been playing destiny on and off for a decade, free roam is fine, however as soon as i have to go into a strike, boom, i can spend the whole time chasing behind gthe other 2 players barely contributing.
Also feeling like (and showing by the stats) i'm doing way less damage, getting to grips with all the build mechanics they have now is a lot of work.

I would also like to say that every year for the past three (i think) we got last years expansion on Plus, so i wait and play through it then until the season pass runs out. (so why buy?)
So i will happily go back in in June/July when we get thr Edge of Fate.

I Still think it was a mistake to not just simplify the PS3 UI, remove things such as web browser. What's new.
Mine still advertises Loco for Ps Plus.

Simplify the store, get an agreement that all games are a lot cheaper and it owuld still make a nice console.

Bit late now, as the PS4 is filling that legacy slot in my opnion, and the same games are cheaper.

Ha i came here to say something similar, against the £ the Real has dropped around 18% over the last year, Sony have (according to the example in the article) hiked games by 14%, to compensate.
Sony and the publishers once exchange rates are taken into consideration are not making any more money, less infact.

I never really got on board with this, loved Age of Empires and Age of Mythology.
2 just felt clunky to me, i think it was the time period it was set in and the way the catapults moved.

It does remind me of playing my friend over local network on AOE 1, good times.

Glad they have reworked them, i just don't think i will go back unless one of the turns up on PS Plus (essential) one day.

Not something i would likely go back to, i played this through loads back in the day.

• no it didn't affect my plans at all, i had planned to play offline games anyway, and i did just that.

I would love it if they made another Civilization Revolutiuon, still playing to this day, enjoyed Civ VI, but being able to play a full game in a couple of hours is better for me.
I do have to make my own victory cnditions to make it harder and more fun though.

I'm on essential, have a 20% discount showing to stack, really surprised.
Will pick up some credit from the cheapest place i can find and extend.

If only there was a toggle to switch off the modern day sections, i would be all over that.
Plenty of times in the past that i've been disappointed that i have to play through a modern section to get back to my world.

Played the original Age of Empires to death back in the day, you could even play over LAN.
Also loved Mythology, both back in my PC days.

So everyone has their pitchforks sharpened already without giving Sony a chance.
I happened to be on the app last night about 11pm, both £5 and £10 options available to me.

This will be on PS Plus for Christmas with some sort of bonus pack, 40 million+ users will have this pop up to download, many will be interested to give it a go to see what all the news was about.
This way it gets maximum exposure and if a decent player base evolves, free to play 6 months later.

They would have to be absolutely nuts to just kill it, i believe they took it down and refunded everyone just so they could restart in a couple of months.

I'm pretty sure it means they don't have a Star Wars, DC or Marvel ( yes they licence spider-man ).

For example they could have made Ratchet & Clank into a decent long running Cartoon, which in turn would have boosted the movie and game sales.

I would like a new Civ Revolution, simpler but mainly it's done in a couple of hours.
Civ 6 too easily too my life away, i also like playing cultural victory which the base game doesn't have.

I'm sure Sony must be able to make a few quid from cleaning up the UI and getting store prices down across the board.

@HammerKirby3 It's in a different, smaller quieter room, and plenty of games do not play better on PS5. I don't need 60 fps for civilization.

Also my friend comes round and we play Modern warfare remastered offline with bots. don't need a PS5 for that.

@thefourfoldroot1 Sure i agree with that, my point was really that 100 million (exaggeragtion) could have a ps4 still, if 50 million of them also have PS5s. For the people who have both it would still only be 1 PSN user. There could be 150 million active consoles out there but only 118 million users.
I have PS3,PS4 and PS5 that i use regularly, i'm still 1 user.

We just don't know the numbers for each console.

Unfortunately you can't jump in and say that multiple users can negate this. There are still likely large amounts of people who have a PS5 who also still use their PS4.
So there is still no way of knowing how many PS4s are still active, only SONY will know.
Heck i still use my PS3 most days, along with my 4 and 5

All we know the absolute maximum is 59.3 million, though this is not true. Multiple console owners, consoles in transint, in shops, broken, unused. The 59.3 is shipped not active.

So i would personally say that the PS4 user base could still be higher than that of the PS5. Hence why so many games are still being made for it.

@GloriosaDaisy Yep updated mine a couple of weeks ago too, happy days. Just started playing Batman Arkham Origins.

This is partly why i never finished playing DD, it wasn't just the lack of fast travel. It was how quickly enemie respawned on the roads.

Sometimes i fought my way past bandits or wolves, realised i had gone the wrong way the had to fight through them all again.
It just got too much.

The rest of the game is fantastic.

So still around 60 million active PS4 users 3 years into PS5.

I'm not sure how much they count PS3 now as my 2023 playtime wasn't counted this year for my wrap up, and it was probably my most hours.

I might be excited if i had a PS5, which reminds me i will have to add it on the web, like last month. (which i haven't done yet.)

PS Plus is pretty much where i get all my games from. So i was looking forward to the improvement in quality.

Sure agreed, i am still only a PS4 owner yet i won't consider buying games such as Elden Ring or Hogwarts until i have a PS5.

I do see smaller indie games that don't use massive resources such as overcooked releasing on PS4 for some time.

Now i have no problem with games being PS5 only and perhaps GTA VI should be that's, the way forward. But certainly for some level of games PS4 release is logical.

A quick search myself found as of June 23 there were 108 million active PSN users, if only 40 million PS5 consoles have been sold, thats 68 million active PS4/PS3 users at least.

That's a lot of potential sales....and certainly not just gathering dust.

Erm, its smaller and has a bigger SSD, i would say these are improved specs.

Unless, call of duty games start offering more offline bots i will avoid them, i know i'm in the minority but a max of 6v6 sucks.

This is why myself and my friend still play Modern Warfare remastered. 8v8 with our bots regular and AI Veteran, nice.

I'm sure that they would only have to release the base game on Playstation, with limited DLC which gradually reduces over the 10 years.
You want the full experience, buy an Xbox.

10 years worth of console sales, maybe 2 gens, can really chip away at Sonys current lead.
I expect there are lots that would switch based on Call of Duty alone.

@Flaming_Kaiser Hi, i was just suggesting that if in 10 years time there was no call of duty on PS Sony may have been looking to fill the void.
If there is no void to fill, it is going to be incredibly difficult to prize those players away. Sometimes no matter how good the game is.

Sony will make a bucket load of money from Call of duty, so why spend hundreds of millions when they don't have to.

So they were working on a potential Call of Duty replacement, but as it's looking like the merger has been blocked they can shut the studio down.

Nothing for me this month, i do sometimes wonder if it's worth it, but if i get around 10 good games a year out of it, it is fine.
But i can't really stop as i have a big backlog that i would lose haha.

Also i have started to cherry pick a little more, having well over 300 games in my library is a headache. So i have decided to sort to wheat from the chaff more instead of adding everything.
May add Grid, but i'm not sure if i would actually ever play it.

I really wish they would clean up the UI and do a little more on the store prices, super budget console with some great games.

Then it would be a nice retro console then.
The only drawback is that as so many games got remastered for the PS4, the PS3 will just disappear into history.

It would be cool to have a mini digital PS4 in the future when technology allows, unlikely but cool.
