September's PlayStation Plus games have been made official, and we've had longer than usual to gather our thoughts on this month's lineup. Indeed, the selection was correctly leaked days before the big announcement. It split opinion then, but what about now? That's what we're here to find out.
To recap, the PS Plus games for September 2021 are as follows: Overcooked: All You Can Eat (PS5), Hitman 2 (PS4), and Predator: Hunting Grounds (PS4).
The main criticism that we've seen floating around is that both Overcooked and Predator are meant for multiple players. Hitman 2, meanwhile, is a great single-player game — but it's been on sale loads of times over the last couple of years. Not exactly in its prime.
But enough analysis — what do you think of September's PS Plus games? As always, vote in our polls and then give us an honest opinion in the comments section below.

I don't have any of these so it's a good month for me. Will be playing Overcooked Friday night with the missus for sure.
Plus has been really hit and miss this year. Some weeks have really surprised me with the quality of the games released. Some months have been pretty bad. This month is pretty bad. And like others, I think they need to do something about the fragmentation of Plus and Now.
They’re decent games. People are just too picky.
Not a bad selection. Looking forward to giving Hitman 2 a try.
Won't be adding any to the library for the second month in a row.
I’d be very happy with Overcooked but I already own it
Looking forward to Hitman 2! Will be my first time trying out the series.
This month probably has the most mixed opinions of any month this year and I'm just here to watch the drama in the comment section.
Want hitman 2 and got it...... And that's the reason I don't generally buy old games..... Just rent them or they r on ps plus... I'm lucky with both hitman....mgs5..... Control..... Ff7........... Rachet..... Titanfall2...... Arkham knight..... And the list goes on.....
Would have been over the moon with Overcooked, if i had a PS5.
Can't wait that long so bought it.

Just Hitman interest me but I already have it. I can see how it would be a great month for some folks though.
I think it is a decent selection. Maybe when my backlog is less hectic, I will give Hitman trilogy a try eventually. In which case having the second game on Plus could be useful.
Hitman 2 for me.word up son
Very meh for me.
The one I should be most interested in is the one I know I won't like. I tried the first Hitman on + and just didn't get it, I know it's meant to be good but it just wasn't for me. Is hitman 2 much different?
personally i dont get the moaning about the quality of PS+ I enjoyed all these games with PS+ so far this year
Maneater
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
GreedFall
Control: Ultimate Edition
Concrete Genie
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Remnant: From the Ashes
Farpoint
Oddworld: Soulstorm
Days Gone
Wreckfest
Battlefield V
Star Wars: Squadrons
Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
A Plague Tale: Innocence
and now hitman 2 and predator hunting grounds
Looking forward to try hitman for the first time.
I have Hitman already and it’s fantastic so it’s a great selection just from that. Overcooked will be fun too. This is way better than most months.
I am buying Tales of Arise for Sept - so does not matter.
PS+ is so I can play online with friends and fam. This stuff is gravy I rarely play.
Overcooked will be good to have so when my little niece spends the day I guess.
Great games for another great month this year
Entitled cry babies gunna cry. Yet next week be all over the private parts of Sony comes Thursday after the showcase.
Embarrassing
If they give us Alan wake on ps5 next month, all is forgiven!
While it isn't perfect I am overjoyed for predator hunting grounds I loved the beta but never got around to buying it
@The_New_Butler you need hitman 1 GOTY edition or buy the access pass which is £25.
Why would people complain? They're "free" games.
I have yet to play Hitman 2 and almost bought Hitman 3 so I'm pretty happy about that one.
Overcooked was fun with the kids so the continuation should be fun.
Predator needed quite a bit of polish when I played the beta, but for free, I'm not going to scoff at giving it a second chance.
I'm pretty amped to play Hitman 2.
Sublime line up, not up for debate, fact.
@Barryburton97 Welcome to Push Square.
@Telekill why do people complain about people complaining? Most of us buy games all year long, which means if we haven't bought these games already, its because we don't want them. Moaning on these sites is far cheaper than therapy so people are going to do it!
Come on guys, it isn’t that bad. I’m looking forward to overcooked!
The monthly PS plus games are so bad that a selection like this months is viewed as good simply because it’s an improvement on the absolute tripe we’re normally served up. What did we get? An old Hitman game, a horrible predator game and a throw away 5 minute time filler game. 6/10 which is a D
Mostly crap in my opinion. As per usual I am either not interested in the games offered or I have already finished them.
But fret not Sony, I'll continue paying for PS+ because.. erm.. the plus looks nice next to my username!
Overcooked is brilliant. A bit annoyed we bought it and all DLC on PS4, but I understand this at least has a separate trophy list. Not into stealth or repetitive online gaming though.
Yay can't wait to play Hitman. Gonna snipe from the sidelines and tell everyone how terrible this selection is. Demon Souls / Ratchet and Clank or Miles Morales. They are the ones we want. Sony is now just a carcass left in a locker compared to the start of the PS4. Looking at this selection was like finding my wife killed by Santa. Funny for a second then you realise what's happened and it wasn't a rotund happy go lucky hairy guy with loads of presents who killed her but a slaphead walking barcode battler dressed as santa. My life is ruined. Noooooooo.
Overcooked is a really fun game so for anyone who hasn't got it then it's a great game to get for free. Shame it isn't the PS4 version aswell though.
It's not necessarily a bad month, but I could care less about any of them. Still, since I have plenty to play and there's Kena coming later in the month, I figured I'd be generous and go with Meh since it's not a big deal for me in the end.
I respectfully suggest that people's opinions will vary depending on their view of what a subscription entitles you.
If you believe that your PS Plus subscription is comparable to Xbox Game Pass then, yeh, I get why one would be disappointed.
If you compare PS Plus to Xbox Gold, I humbly suggest that you are most likely OK with this batch of games.
I don't really think any of the views posted are right or wrong, per se, they are simply a reflection of people's different expectations when it comes to getting "value" from their membership.
Looking forward to Overcooked. Been a while since I've found anything the whole family could play together.
Never played Hitman, so looking forward to that as well. A dodgy hand means I need some games I can play at a slower pace, my days of twitch gaming are sadly behind me
I no longer have PS+ and have no intention to sub again but this looks like alot better month than the previous few. Happy for those that will be able to enjoy these solid games.
@MidnightDragonDX
PSN -R3alRom3 me let me what games you got been playing alot of splitgate lately.
@Barryburton97 it’s the same article they post every month?
@Shepherd_Tallon An advice as someone who tried just that with Overcooked!.... don't! This game will test your relationship like no other!!!
@Olmaz @SM1FFY01 😂 You've both made me feel very naive all of a sudden.
I already own Hitman 2 and don't really care about the rest.
@Blues2Youse Apologist? You have no idea what you're talking about. I dog on the PS5 and how Sony has handled it all the time. I consider PS5 to be a PS4 Pro Pro as every first party game we're aware of coming to PS5 at the moment (until next week's show) are also coming to PS4. I also don't like how quiet Sony has been with the PS5 roadmap.
I think you need to take a step back from your extremism and realize that you're coming off as severely entitled. If you're that angry at Sony that you're calling randoms in the comments section apologists because they don't agree with your stance... then you're the problem. Maybe it's time to walk away for a bit.
I'm thrilled to be able to play Overcooked with my niece at some point in the future, so I'm happy about that.
Hitman 2, because PSVR!!
Overcooked All You Can Eat and Hitman 2 are great, but I already own both. I don't take any issue with this though, it is what it is.
I actually have Hitman 2 on PC so I'll be claiming it on PS Plus anyway, I just can't see myself really playing it since I have the Gold version + Hitman 1 GOTY on PC
(incidentally I got both of these in a Humble Bundle that's currently active and only around £8 for both of those, plus a few more indie stealth games - if anybody plays games on PC and is interested. For £8 it's well worth it. Also includes a 10% off voucher for Hitman 3, but I'd rather just get my mastery up on all the hitman 1 and 2 levels while I wait for Epic Games' exclusivity on Hitman 3 to end )

Hitman 2 is a decent addition. I only need one good game to be satisfied.
Ill add the hitman 2 levels into hitman 3 & wait for hitman 3 to go on plus to unlock all the levels for it
@Blues2Youse Damn you sound like a entitled little brat. 🤪
@Telekill Why do we need a roadmap so everyone can go mental when they dont make it?

takes one look at what games of gold has
Yes I'm very happy......
I love Hitman... But considering Hitman 3 is 8 months old... I'm pretty sure anyone who cares about the Franchise played Hitman 2 long ago.
Other two titles suck. My auto renew has been turned off for a while now.
@Shepherd_Tallon You will enjoy. My advice would just to be start on 2, though. It was way more wacky with it's levels. However, number 1 is still good with the ghost levels and such.
@Jayofmaya Thanks for the tip!
@Blues2Youse Then walk away. PC gaming has yet to adopt online pay to play. All consoles do.
Overcooked is a cracking game! No idea what a PS5 is though…
I buy PS Plus by the year so i judge it buy the year not the month. For the year 2021 I am happy with PS Plus and its cost for the year already.
If you have yet to play a Hitman game because you might think they're some sort of action game... they're really not. They're slow methodical puzzle games where figuring out the right sequence of events to assassinate a target unnoticed can be way more fun than just running in guns blazing. Look at the challenges and try to accomplish them, give Hitman a fair shot!
I think this is a solid selection, with Hitman 2 being the special game.
Overcooked is fun with friends and family.
Predator though... that could be a hit or a miss to be honest.
If I had a PS5, I'd be happy with Overcooked.
As I can't be bothered to find one at the moment, and Sony are too miserable to give the PS4 version too, I can't imagine any of the other 'offerings' troubling my library or clogging up my PS4's SSD.
@feral1975 I think that's a waste, you should at least add the games to your library incase you'll ever want to play them in the future. I'm not saying to download them but adding them to your library never hurt anybody especially sense there is no limit to how many games you can have.
Personally I see the games with PS Plus a boon. They don't owe us anything so while they may be an undesirable or great selection for anyone they're nice to have either way.
That being said I think a tier system might be a good idea in the future. Maybe three stages.
Tier 1: 20£/$ Just for online play, party chat and Cloud Sync for the year.
Tier 2: The usual £/$50 yearly for the Online Play, Cloud Sync and 'free games'
Tier 3: £/$70 yearly for the usual PSPlus, 'free games; Cloud Sync, and PSNow.
That might make people happier if they'd rather have more or less of what's included. And PSNow would need an overhaul of course to be a competitor to GamePass, that needs some competition. I personally wouldn't use a service but I know some might.
Hitman 2 and Overcooked are good. It's a varied selection, so everyone should find at least one game to enjoy (except for those who have already bought them all, but it goes that way sometimes if you're an avid gamer who has to get everything early).
great month!
Hitman 1 was great , massive open world with tons of ways to complete the mission and secrets,Looking forward to playing hitman 2
overcook is a great couch co-op game! ( i have 1 &2)
even with friends who not much of a gamer! i put my nose at this game when i got the first one but is very fun.
great titles
I've not played any of these games but it's Hitman 2 that most interests me.
Heyo, i think it is ok
I'll add them to my library, but I won't be playing any of them.
Does Hitman 2 have multiplayer still?
I've read it did but also saw somewhere the servers had been switched off.
@jokkp
I've no interest in the games, there's no sense in clogging up the library with them.
Plus it's a message, Sony will have stats on people like myself who have not only refused to download or add them, but have also turned off the auto renew.
I don't play online, have zero need of the cloud saves or plus related discounts and only subscribe for the games.
The games are not free, and if they're not up to a good enough standard then a message needs to be sent.
I've no interest in Predator and have played Overcooked all the way through on Switch so I don't need that again (although I can now actually get the bonus content that only came with the All you Can Eat bundle I guess).
Hitman isn't a series I've ever given much attention, but I might give this one a go now.
The shills and the low brows are in full force out today despite the poll showing completely different results. Hitman 2 already was on PSN less than a month ago, keep pretending Sony gives a crap about the service and hasn't just increased the price and lowered quality since the last generation.
I have absolutely no interest in multi-player games, so why not give people a choice? Sony could give members a choice of a single-player game OR a multi-player game
e.g. 4 games each month, 2 are SP and 2 are MP.
You can pick any 2.
I have cleared all my backlog, there is no game I want
Overcooked may be fun, but I am not sure you can release something that runs fine on a Nintendo Switch as a 'PS5 game'.
I guess we can attribute this to the PS5 games being pretty slim pickings at the moment. PS really needs its own Game Pass with AAA releases.
Hitman 2 was already free so kinda ruins this month free games for me.
@Telekill They certainly aren’t free. That’s like saying the movies you watch on Netflix are free because they’re included with your paid membership. You might think they’re a good value, and that’s fine, c’mon, words have meanings
@SkepticalPrimate Oh, I'm aware. It's why I put the word free in quotes. Punctuation has meaning.
@kingbreww If you think that Overcooked is a 'time filler' game then you've evidently never played it and seen incredibly little of it too. It is easily BY FAR one of the best co op games I've ever played in my life. It's pretty good in single player still, but admittedly not as brilliant.
@Nazgul Hitman 2 wasn't free before though :/
The first mission of the game is available for free at all times, sort of like a demo and the rest of the game is bought in add-ons. Very strange way to release a game but certainly not free
@James_42 cool. It’s still a pile though and co-op games are stupid
Tbh it's a pretty good month. Was mainly looking forward to hitman 2, which I'll play once I finish the first 1, but predator surprised me. I played the beta and it was awful. Now it's really fun but only if the predator plays otherwise it's too easy
