Re: PS Plus Essential Games for August 2023 Announced

TBubs311

That is so crazy that they’d wait until there’s no longer support for the game to do this. I bought it a few years back but didn’t really find anything compelling enough to keep me. The dev tools were pretty cool, but very unwieldy with a controller. I always wondered if it would be easier with the move controllers over traditional.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Final Fantasy 16 Sales Way Down, Out of the Top 10

TBubs311

@rjejr just finished the game last night and have quite polar feelings about it. The game has some insane spectacle and really high highs, but incredibly low lows as well. At the end I couldn’t bother with the side quests because it felt detracting from the experience. And I’m one who usually avoids finishing a game so I can do all the side stuff. Like you said it’s very oddly paced, in a way that I didn’t like.

Re: Soapbox: PS Plus Might Be Gaming's Best Subscription Service Now

TBubs311

While I do think it’s good value objectively, it really just doesn’t suit me as a gamer with a limited amount of free time. I’d rather spend money on a game I know I want to play and will enjoy, rather than gamble on a subscription where there might be some games added in a given month that I could play and possibly enjoy. That’s why going forward I will pay the markup for a monthly or 3 month sub when something that I want is announced rather than pay for the year and hope that I’m not disappointed each month. Is it rational, maybe not, but I’m generally happier for it.

Re: Consumer Spending Growth on Subscriptions Like PS Plus Is Slowing

TBubs311

I’ve changed my habit to instead of subscribing for a year at 100 bucks hoping maybe to get some games I might play throughout the year, I now wait until there’s a game I actually want, and spend 15 bucks for the month or possibly 3 month sub max then let it lapse. Works for most single player games. I don’t think I’ll ever have a lasting ps+ sub again. Just way too much of a gamble each month

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Big PS5 Update Is Out Now, Adds New Content

TBubs311

This game is unplayable for me. I can’t run it for more than two minutes without it crashing since the update. No other game crashes this hard on my ps5. I tried clearing console cache and reinstalling the game and nothing seems to fix it, anyone experiencing anything similar or have tips on resolving it?

Re: God of War Ragnarok's Huge New Game Plus Update Out Now on PS5, PS4

TBubs311

Yeah I do think the game as a whole is very well put together and obviously the characters and gameplay are great as is expected from SSM. That said, I have a greater fondness for the first game for some reason that I can’t quite put my finger on where I’m more likely to play through that one for the third time over giving GOWR another go

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About Final Fantasy 16?

TBubs311

As a huge fan of ffxv despite its shortcomings, and someone who didn’t really take to the linearity of Remake, I’m a bit saddened/concerned by the change in direction, but I get why they are going that route based on general sentiment

Re: Poll: Have You Completed Elden Ring?

TBubs311

It’s not the first i tried, but it’s the first I actually beat, which gave me the confidence to go back and beat Dark Souls 3. DS1 and Bloodborne are next, but those 2 are proving way more difficult than the former in my opinion.

Re: Actress Ella Balinska Anchors Massive Forspoken PS5 Showcase

TBubs311

I played the whole demo and while I certainly can’t deny the combat and traversal was fun in that very lizard Brain sort of way, the world was a bit of a letdown in more ways than one. Aside from the usual checklist open world format, it’s honestly worse than what Ubisoft puts out. It just seemed a bit slapped together without much thought to environmental design or storytelling. Also the one objective where it teleports you into a fort that’s like 100 feet away, says you went back in time and have to protect static character models from the zombie dudes for 3 minutes is straight out of a ps2 game. I was literally laughing that this was something squeenix decided to show in a demo.

Re: PS Plus Lost Two Million Members in the Last Three Months

TBubs311

I’m unsubscribing from extra after this year. It’s basically been adding a whole bunch of games each month that ‘eh I could play that’ but nothing compelling has been added since the first month beyond stray and the ps5 titles (most of which I’ve played or owned)

Re: How to Make Folders on PS5

TBubs311

@Mega-Gazz I was thinking the same thing, my Home Screen is still cluttered, and I have to go through multiple menus just to access my folders (I mean collections) so it’s seeming pretty pointless to use as of now. Also ding it for not being able to sort games at all when you are adding them. How did this make it through beta?

Re: Soapbox: I'm Sorry, But Your Cute Cat Game Isn't That Great

TBubs311

While I certainly don’t think it’s my game of the year, it was a short, sweet, fun experience that didn’t overstay its welcome. The fact that I love cats definitely makes me like it more, but that’s just the way opinions work.

I contrast this game to something like lost in random that also had an interesting setup and had a very simple gameplay loop, but that just totally wore out its welcome for me and couldn’t bring myself to finish it.

Re: Hands On: Saints Row Is That Same Dumb Fun, But Better

TBubs311

Pass here as well. I tried playing Saints Row 3 remastered, and just didn’t vibe with it for some reason. I think I didn’t dig how you have to actively select to start a main mission on the phone before it shows up on the map. I usually happen upon main missions while messing about in the world and decide I might as well do a story mission. I also might just not be that into chaotic city crime simulators like I used to be a few years back.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 425

TBubs311

Elden Ring, Finally made it past the wall of a boss that closes out Act 2, somehow staying close enough to avoid his health sucking projectiles, only to hit another bigger wall with the final boss. Also playing HFW, but that basically feels like filler after ER so I’m considering dropping it for a while until I forget how glorious ER is.

Re: Poll: What's Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year So Far?

TBubs311

Elden ring for sure. Started HFW after finishing (well getting my butt kicked in the end game so needing a break) from elden ring, and though still fun, HFW just does not have the same sense of wonderment and discovery . I’m only part way through so I guess my opinion could change, but I suppose that’s just the nature of sequels as well

Re: Open World RPG Elex 2 Promises Improved Combat in This New Trailer

TBubs311

I've played quite a bit of the first one. Its definitely got something going for it in terms of just having such a wide scope and not rail roading you ever. The caveat to that benefit is that it can feel quite aimless (and difficult!) at times and the stunted voice acting does not help with immersion. I don't need Oscar worthy voice acting but listening to and looking at what basically amounts to an animatronic mannequin for hours on end can be grating.

That said i will probably end picking it up on sale later this year
