State of Play Showcase for Hogwarts Legacy Coming This Thursday

This would be cool for any game I was actually interested in!

Finally! I've been waiting on news for ages. I'm fine with delays so long as the final product is superb. Here's hoping!

It seems like Sony are heavily invested in this game, but aside from a proper Lord of the Rings game or a Futurama game, I'm sad every time a licensed game takes up resources or time from other potential unlicensed games.

Not gonna lie, I did not see another SoP coming just 8 days after the last one.

Licensed vs unlicensed games is a thing now?

Licensed games should be much easier (they historically have proved otherwise) than unlicensed…. You don’t have to dream up a world. You don’t need to introduce characters. It should be so much easier to concentrate on the vitals like fun and gameplay get licensed get it wrong so often. Hopefully this is one of the good ones. The HP world is screaming out for video games because it’s a world that fits it so well.

Meh, so no actual worthwile Event till September again probably. Ever since they canceled PSX their Showcases have been just severly lacking. If you dont participate at E3, Gamescom and nowhere else you might want to do multiple good Streams a year. Nintendo is at E3 and still has 2-3 awesome Directs every Year

Even before I have seen Thursdays SoP - I didn't like it because it didn't have 100 AAA PlayStation Exclusives in it Looking forward to seeing it even tho I am not a massive HP fan.

I think Harry Potter is rubbish but this has the potential to be a cool game.

I know the State of Play narrator said there'd be another one soon, but I didn't think it would be THIS soon and with a single focus on Hogwarts Legacy no less. I'm excited.

Now this is something to look forward to.

@Danloaded That was non-sense, the last state of play was probably the best ever aside from the single game state of plays.

Give me a god of war state of play instead I’m not a fan of Harry Potter.

@FatalBubbles They spent a lot of money making this game exclusive no doubt and will use a lot of the time and resources of the marketing department. It's a solid money-maker for sure, it's just in general I want to see original video games not licensed games.

As a long time Harry Potter fan I am beyond hyped for this game! Easily my most anticipated game of the year.

YEEEEES. I have high, high hopes for this one.

Tend to be a little wary of a lot of 3rd party AAA titles these days being live service/mtx focused,& WB certainly have never shied away from either! Still, might end up on the new gen radar down the line if there's a solid single player focus.

Nice, this game is on my list.

I'll watch this with my kiddo who had an interest in the HP universe. If she's still interested and likes what she sees than this may end up a Christmas game.

Used to be a big Harry Potter fan, not so much anymore, but this has the potential to recapture my imagination and love of the series. Looking forward to this.

I'm eager to see some gameplay. This has the potential to be a brilliant game, but there's plenty of ways they could screw it up.

Interesting. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the first single game focused SOP for a 3rd party game isn't it? I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it in action! I'm definitely more of a casual Harry Potter fan. I'm not too into the characters but I like the world so this game could be perfect for me if done well.

@Apfelschteiner yeah .. this game isn't exclusive they are just spending money to have the marketing rights and when it comes to one of the biggest ips from warner it makes sense.
You know why they invest in licensed games, did you see the reaction to the titles in the last state of play? People just doesn't care about them that's the saddest thing.
Also, marvel fans deserved good marvel games and sony is making them, so that is also not sad.

About damn time. One of my most anticipated games this year.

I haven't really been following this game too much as I've never been much of a Harry Potter fan, but given that these game specific State of Plays are usually pretty good, I'll probably check it out.

Unlike their multi-game showcases like last week's, showing a bunch of gameplay and then having comments from the team either during or after it is the perfect format. It's amazing how they can usually do these so well, but the multi-game ones usually disappoint. At this point, maybe they should think about trimming them to only a few games and making it more like these game specific ones, just obviously shorter bits for each game than the likely 20 minutes or so this one will be for one game. That is unless they actually have some substantial announcements in these multi-game showcases.

I thought they showed gameplay a while back. Looking forward to it though

Oh WOW I was not expecting this. Very hyped!

I like Harry Potter/the Wizarding World and I think it is a amazing fantasy world, but I don't think the franchise is easily translated into video game format (specially a Triple-A game). With that said, I do hope this game will be fantastic and I really want to see the gameplay reveal. Maybe it will be like Bully in Hogwarts. That could be fun..
