@Vega37. @j2c. The Saudi government also owns over a five percent stake in Capcom. Does that mean no Resident Evil, Monster Hunter or Street Fighter for you either?
@Geep. A Jicks reference. Love it. Although you might be dating yourself a bit, but it’s always nice to know there is another older gamer on the forum, especially one with such fine taste in music. Made the purchase today. Many thanks.
I started playing this with my son a few months back when he discovered it in the PlayStation Extra catalog. He has purchased a lot of the DLC packs in various sales and even managed to platinum the base game, which is impressive considering the number of trophies. Now he wants the Stranger Things physical version for Christmas because it has been removed from the game, but it sells for over a hundred dollars used on eBay. The amount of support this game has gotten, and continues to get, is staggering. I guess that is what keeps the player base engaged all these years later.
“Blizzard’s move breaks with long-held live service norms…”. Does it though? Because the same thing is true in their Battle Pass for OverWatch 2. Hell, you don’t even get the premium token in the Battle Pass. They dole it out in Weekly Challenges. And even if you complete them all, you still won’t earn enough currency for the next Battle Pass. So this isn’t a surprise.
The last fighting game that I purchased at launch was Tekken Tag Tournament for the PS2, but Homelander, Peacemaker and Omni Man have made the new Mortal Kombat a must have as soon as released. I’m honestly surprised by the number of people that are unfamiliar with the characters. The Amazon series aside, The Boys was a brilliant comic by Garth Ennis coming after his hugely popular series Preacher. Ennis is a major talent and I thought more people would know The Boys. And James Gunn turned a minor character from Suicide Squad into probably the best series set in the DC Universe. I cannot wait for this and hope future DLC is similar.
High on Life with my son on his Steam Deck. It’s a bit repetitive but if you enjoy Rick and Morty the character interaction and constant chatter from the gun is amusing. Luckily Justin Rolland started his own game company, so I guess he can’t get cancelled from that at least. Also Alan Wake on Extra. Never played it when it was first released because it was an XBOX exclusive. Maybe because I played so many games from that era I have no problem with the combat mechanics. Really looking forward to the sequel but I wish there were going to be a physical release.
Push Square hasn’t mentioned it, but this comes right after Epic eliminated the daily rewards for logging into the Save the World mode, which was my primary method of accumulating V-Bucks (outside of the Battle Pass). Once a week, the daily rewards were at least 150 V-Bucks, sometimes 300, 800 or 1000, just for logging into the game. I have amassed an impressive collection of skins and emotes over the past three years, all for free except for the initial purchase of the Save the World mode. To raise the real money cost of V-Bucks immediately after eliminating a perk that has been there since the beginning is a scummy move by Epic.
I’ll definitely visit this location once I start Burning Shores.
@TeapotBuddha. Incredible series. One of the first, along with The Sopranos, responsible for the television renaissance. I did not know Idris Elba was British when it originally aired. A bit envious. Wish I were watching it for the first time. Enjoy.
Does anyone know if there is a physical release confirmed? I am a little worried after the announcement that The Man Who Erased His Name is digital only.
@Ryne-Gaia. I think the chances of Final Fantasy XVI scoring higher than Tears of the Kingdom are about as likely as the chances of Ryne and Gaia being straight.
My son went to visit cousins for a week now that school is out and he took the Switch with him, even though he has a Steam Deck. So I guess my Tears of the Kingdom play through is on hold until he gets back. It’s going to be a long week of me daydreaming about Koroks and hidden shrines. Guess I will jump back over to Tchia with its BotW influenced gameplay. Wonder if a sequel will include building as a mechanic. Hell, I wonder how many future open world games will have building for that matter. Maybe I can finally get the Plat on Tchia while waiting for my return to Hyrule.
@STOBO. Right now Netflix has about fifty mobile games that you can access for free with your subscription. They are all ad free and without micro transactions. I think eventually you are supposed to be able to play them on your television using your phone as a controller. Most of them are your typical mobile fare, although Oxenfree and its sequel are available. This seems like a lot of talent though for another mobile game. They must have something bigger planned for the future to bring awareness to the platform. I hope we eventually see it, but I have doubts.
I’m sure everyone here already knows, but the Tomb Raider trilogy is excellent. My favorite series of all time. I still remember the hours sunk in the original PS1 version. The reboot was really well done. I almost broke down and bought an XBOX when the last one was a timed exclusive.
I absolutely adore games like this. There is a game on PS Plus Extra with a similar painterly style called 11:11 Memories Retold that I discovered because of a comment on this forum. I would never have known about it had not a member here mentioned it in a post. I also purchased and beat Seasons: A Letter to the Future because of its unique art style. I will definitely get this too.
@PhantomMenace84. I think most “burger flippers and cashiers” still make minimum wage. A full time job paying minimum wage (40 hours a week at $7.50) nets three hundred a week. That’s $15,600 a year before taxes, well below the poverty line. People deserve a decent living wage regardless of occupation.
I really enjoyed this review. It did a nice job of explaining the game mechanics while also establishing the more cinematic narrative structure. This is a game that I most likely would have ignored had it not been for the review. Now I will be looking for a future sale in the store. Also, was this the Sherlock game that was crowd funded? Otherwise, why is it a game that was never meant to exist?
I haven’t had my coffee yet, so I’m not running on all cylinders, but why the Travolta Pulp Fiction photo? Is there some kind of pun in the article that I missed? I know you guys love your puns.
@Itachi2099. As of October last year, Valve has sold over a million Steam Decks. And that is while supply chains were constrained. I am sure that another six months with better availability have improved those numbers. The Vita only sold 15 million units during its entire life span of nine years.
