As Rumoured, Mortal Kombat 1's First DLC Pack Adds Homelander, Peacemaker, and More

As soon as they add Xena, I'm buying it!

As much as I like Peacemaker and Homelander… Omni-man is the choice addition here I reckon!

I'm already pretty excited for MK1 & I'm loving the first run of characters, with it looking like superheroes/comic book being this one's theme I'd love to see Shredder in there.

I still can't get why they announce DLC characters without us knowing the full roster. And I still think that most people don't know who those three are, I seriously didn't and checked them after the rumors. Also, I don't follow the MK fanbase that much but from the little I know they don't like guest characters, they want iconic characters from the series.

@Rafie she'd go for anything! She once mentioned that they approached her manager for a singing competition and her manager immediately rejected the offer. Then Lucy heard about it and said, "My name is Lucy Lawless, what made you think I wouldn't go for it?"

Random guests are really quite irritating when it’s literally half of the dlc pack and the rest of it really isn’t up to much either

@belmont Guest characters sell the most so people do want them. Also The Boys is a really popular show and one of Amazon's most watched shows that's due a S4 next year, Invincible was also a big hit and is due a S2 next year. Peacemaker was a main character in The Suicide Squad and had a hit solo series on HBO Max. You may not know who these characters do but i'm betting the MK audience certainly is as do pretty much any "casual" whose subbed to Prime and watches their shows.

Hopefully Starr, Simmons and John Cena are voicing them.

@Rafie She done the excellent Spartacus show and went all in for that so i don't see why doing Xena for a MK game would be too much.

Where is Kung Jin? He was the only new addition I liked.

The last fighting game that I purchased at launch was Tekken Tag Tournament for the PS2, but Homelander, Peacemaker and Omni Man have made the new Mortal Kombat a must have as soon as released. I’m honestly surprised by the number of people that are unfamiliar with the characters. The Amazon series aside, The Boys was a brilliant comic by Garth Ennis coming after his hugely popular series Preacher. Ennis is a major talent and I thought more people would know The Boys. And James Gunn turned a minor character from Suicide Squad into probably the best series set in the DC Universe. I cannot wait for this and hope future DLC is similar.

Do you reckon this is a weak season, or are you excited for these new challengers?” Well seeing as it just convinced me to now not only pick up this game Day 1 but also shell out for the extremely pricy Premium edition i would say they succeeded and yeah I’m pretty hype huh? @DennisReynolds It was more referencing of her age. However I just thought about it again and all she would be doing is voice work anyway. Naruball she definitely start a petition to get her in season 3 of DLC or something. 😂

@naruball I can see her saying that. I've always thought she was a class act that could do anything. I forgot she can sing as well. I always thought her acting was better than Kevin Sorbo's.

I hate The Boys with every fiber of my being.. Hancock would be 10x better

An absolute perfect selection of guest characters for MK. Ecstatic to see Takeda back as well. Homelander on his own is a sure-fire way to increase sales.

We all know Omni Man is gonna put someone in front of a train for his x ray or fatality.

@DennisReynolds I'd like to see a poll. I'm betting most people have no idea who these guys are. That show/its characters aren't as well known as most of their previous guest characters either. I'd rather see MK fill out the roster with fighters from the series before they start making half a dlc character pack randoms from a show most people don't watch.

Omni Man or Homelander instead of both would be better in terms of skill set which two characters has very similar.

@Vega37 Don't need a poll when we have streaming numbers and The Boys is one of Amazon's most watched shows enough that its getting a 4th season, Invincible is also pretty popular with a mega star cast line up and the 2nd season just got a section at this years Comic Con. MK fans crossover hard with comic book fans so i think its easy to say the target audience knows who these characters are and watch the shows.

No offence but i feel you and the other guy are confusing yourselves and your small social circles for the majority with no evidence to suggest otherwise. You're going on about polls yet this article has been posted on PQ, PX and NL qnd if you check the comments most of the people are well aware of who they are.

@DennisReynolds I am not sure where the majority of the "core" MK fans hang out but if you go so subreddits etc. the reception to the guest characters is mixed. A portion of the fans clearly prefers characters from MK and not random guest characters. I get that they sell well but MK has a lot of iconic characters that are absent from one game or other. I mean, for example, Sonya is not yet confirmed to be in MK1 but we have Peacemaker so ...

As for those three it is not that they are Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. HBO is not available in a lot of regions. Where I live there is also no Amazon store and we only just have the video service since the launch of Lord of the Rings.

@belmont The Boys last year got the most streaming numbers for a comic book show beating all of Marvel's offerings on D+. This narrative that it isn't popular or well known is just objectively false as the numbers prove.

As for the MK community not happy with this well an echo chamber on Reddit is just the minority. Guest characters sell the most out of all the DLC characters and The Joker in MK11 was one of the most played characters. NR would be fools to stop doing the thing the vast majority like just to please some nerds on Reddit. Some random niche MK character is never going to sell as well as frigging Homelander one of the most popular TV characters/"superhero" of the past few years.

I see so many people complaining about these "unknown characters" when their time would be better spent watching the fantastic shows they come from!

I thought we were getting an mk game. Not an injustice game.

As usual, lots of wasted spots on guest characters. Part of the reason i stopped buying MK after MK9. I really dislike guest characters.

I really wish they would stick to Mortal Kombat characters. There are so many cool characters to include from the franchise instead of watering it down with guest characters.

The same thing happened with the last Mortal Kombat. Terminator, Rambo, and RoboCop, as much as I love these characters, played/looked pretty similar to each other.

MK fans are now conditioned to accept this DLC before the game release crap

Omni-Man v. Homelander is genius. Great job MK team. I might even get to the base game eventually.
