I'm still kinda salty with the missed potential for Littlebigplanet. Sony really had an amazing mascot and let it fizzle out. They could've done so much with sackboy.
But man it's awesome to finally have an old school platformer again. It's been missing for a couple of generations. It's got all the heart, personality, creativity and joy that the classics had. Actually kinda unbelievable that such a gem pops up in a sea of soulless big games
This industry has incorporated the Chelsea mentality sadly.
Sadly the game couldn't compare to RE quality and was a bit underwhelming and lacking in budget. I wonder how things could've been different. It's always the negative confirmation that's closing these studios.
Invest very little in a game, because they're risk averse. Their tiny investment won't make much bank and then they're like "see, they're worthless and need to be closed".
Meanwhile the ones making the most bank are the ones with the most investment. No other publisher has the balls to employ the Rockstar method aka the most successful method, but I digress.
Sad to see another horror flop though. This in turn confirms their bias AGAIN that horror games aren't worth producing.
Oh Silent Hills... What could've been
@WolfyTn Same for me. Couldn't get into it. Not much of a story either. I should probably stick with it, but if it takes 10 hours to finally enjoy something, then I'm out lol
@MikeOrator @Truegamer79
Lol that is pretty sad...
The spy/ stealth genre is seriously lacking. I mean how hard can it be? If they really attempted another singleplayer MGS with expected gameplay quality, I can do without the best of stories. Just don't ruin Snake.
Hell, they already did a Raiden game. Why not another Raiden spinoff, but in true MGS style. That shouldn't be controversial
@Truegamer79 I'm sure that'll come. What else does Konami have nowadays? Nothing creative that's for sure. They're just remaking their old stuff. If this remake comes out that'll probably be their next announcement.
I have yet to finish the PS5 remasters though lol, so I can wait a bit longer
@RoomWithaMoose Budokai games were the BEST! Never liked this fighting system for 2 players. Or 1 player for that matter. I'll pass. When I'm an old man and not interested anymore, maybe then they'll release a proper DBZ openworld adventure game with a proper budget
@Ainu20 Maybe harsh as I'm interested in this game and will eventually pick it up, but if it looked any better I would've gotten day one.
Quality is definitely measurable though. The quality of voice acting, storytelling/ writing, animations, gamedesign (no boring fetch quests or typical other stuff). It's all measurable in comparison to other games.
If you gave me the option of this and Tsushima for the same price I'd go for Tsushima any day.
You can see the difference in budget. Tsushima has more style, the horse, walking/ running and fighting animations are top tier and more fluent. They're definitely not big, so of course I won't hate on it, but criticism should be fine. It's our own money.
@Zeke68 The context of the article is sales. You mention the bad review as if the sales are a counter argument. That's what my comment was about. I think people should be more critical towards our games instead of attacking people who criticise. No I'm not saying you're attacking, just in general.
You have all the power in the world to enjoy it as I'm sure I will too when I pick it up on sale.
@Ainu20
Just the same that this site and many other places/ gamers can give it a mediocre score.
It's the type of game I'd buy on sale. Tsushima I got on day 1.
They're immensely different in quality, it's clear as day. It selling lots of copies is good for the publisher and not a counter argument for the review score as it was presented
My point was that people always, for some goddamn reason, defend mediocrity instead of championing for better. Very strange
@Zeke68 That's because it is. Nobody cares about sales except for fanboys. People should care about quality for once instead of defending these crappy games we're littered with
@ShadowofSparta Silent Hill 2 remake's gonna have the same problem i think. These remakes are so different and they lack the original creator that made these games what they are, so there's always gonna be something missing
How are they so full of braindamage at Ubisoft to not understand that building a franchise requires the first game to be GOOD. Polished, well written, awesome world interaction/ game design, immersion, I can go on naming everything they've done wrong the past decade, but it's way too much.
Wby can't they learn from their own lessons? Why can't they just deliver something good for once ffs, I'd LOVE to support their awesome projects, but it's always so goddamn mediocre. They never come close to meeting their potential. Pisses me off
@JohntheRaptor I've been there since DS PS3. Not something much of these entitled Souls fans can say.
And I disagree. Souls is a bit floaty. You can spin the stick and the character will do so as well. Especially Bloodborne and Sekiro. They're just very light feeling. Same with Nioh. Very arcady.
Demons souls remake kinda fixed this. The legs animations got better then got worse again with Elden Ring.
Something grounded would be more like Tsushima or RDR or Last of Us. Bit slower. Feels like gravity is there. Bit more realistic.
Why should this be exciting? Better news would be:
Ubisoft has finally made immersion improvements. NPC's have more than 1 dumb line they repeat every 5 seconds. NPC's interact with the player. The player can interact with the world dynamically. Random events play out by being in its neighbourhood.
These were all in there in the first AC. The past decade? Not so much. Just saying
@Yousef- PS5 is nothing "new". It's just user unfriendly garbage. They couldn't even have the double tap PS button to switch between last used apps.
Instead I have to press home, go to trophies which orders' change everytime, click to show all trophies, click to show trophies in the order I like AND I CAN'T SWITCH BACK TO MY GAME WITHOUT LOSING ALL THESE CLICKS!?
You're not old school. It's just inherently bad. Very Japanese like. I love them, but expecting good UI from Sony and Nintendo or Japanese games is just a nono.
@JohntheRaptor Epic diss. Average Ubisoft enjoyer who can't comprehend their games can and NEED to be way better, but instead dunks on people who demand more.
This is why our industry is so pathetically mediocre
@nomither6 Ex COD devs are responsible for the king of FPS nowadays imo: Titanfall/ Apex. In terms of that, yeah COD has been dethroned for a while as their best devs, responsible for the best COD games are at Respawn. After they left COD went downhill fast.
Popularity shouldn't matter though . For me the best multiplayer game is still Last of Us for 3 generations now. None of these popular games come even close to how good Factions is. We need more of that. Unique, tactical, brutal, stealth and awesome teamwork.
Yet we're getting the gazillionth generic heroshooter. Generic COD clones have not been a thing for a while now
Their past 3 games have been an utter waste of time. An insult to the player's time, money and intellect.
How is this crap gonna be different?
@Mintie
Lmao you expect Ubisoft to tone it down and focus on one thing?
Their past decade of utter crap was pretty consistent in many of their games trying to do everything while failing miserably at all of them.
Many vehicles, all drive like crap. Many weapons, all feels, looks and sounds like trash. Many characters to play from, all written incredibly poorly. Many customisations, everything feels cheap. Many things to do in their games, nothing is worth your damn time. They try to throw the wides possible net to try and attract everyone, when you actually play their games...
Horrible game design. Just insanely horrible. It's a disgrace. How people are still getting excited baffles the mind. Honestly
Oof, seems like this one's a pretty solid experience that has been in development for a while.
Must've stung when Helldivers 2 got that kind of reception lol. Or maybe that's a good sign for this game as well
From what I've seen from the both games, this is the one that has physics while quidditch looks very static and stale... Something quidditch definitely should not be.
Holy crap, awesome eerie vibe. Reminds me of PS3 days when games had style.
Finally some other studio taking on GTA game design. We need more of this, more LA Noire, more Agent! I still have hope
Cool trailer. Looked up some gameplay.
Sadly looks very generic. The usual looter shooter with a grappling hook, endless weird dungeons and gazillion HUD elements.
I'll just keep playing Factions for the third generation in a row. Yay
The industry CAN deliver what our expectations are. They have done so on older consoles, consistently.
Many older games are more impressive than what were getting today.
They're just making cost effective, risk free games at a fast factory like pace without any substance, time and time again.
Still, why is it that only Rockstar has their own business model and nobody else comes even close? That's an absolute disgrace. No other AAA studio is delivering games of that calibre. Not even close.
They refuse to deliver quality and expect people to be pleased with their mediocre hoshposh. I'm not gonna be pleased with another Ubisoft garbage "huge" game that is inferior to GTA IV ON PS FREAKING 3 IN. EVERY. WAY. POSSIBLE.
@Malaise
That's their problem though lol.
Me and many others just shrug their shoulders and went on with their lives until a physical release was here and now it is. 80 bucks is BS though, so I'll wait for a sale lol
The other positive for this is that you'll have a finished game ON DISC forever. You'll be able to play it even in an apocalypse
@GymratAmarillo I'll say something controversial, but I think Chris Hemsworth would be a great Kratos lmao. He always plays the pretty boys, but some make up would truly change him into Kratos. He's already got the voice and he never takes roles where he's unrecognisable
