Re: UK Sales Charts: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Sells Best on PS5

Serialsid

@Tharsman you could also argue that its not a good yard stick to measure it by! An extremely highly rated game that was a juggernaut, that came at a time when xbox had nothing of note coming out and PS had several big games.
I doubt we'll ever know the true split, but I'm sure it would be interesting reading.

Re: Rumour: Half-Life: Alyx Allegedly Locked for PSVR2

Serialsid

Excellent news, hope it really happens. If they release with this, Horizon, RE Village and a patch for gt7 then it will be a great launch line up.
And i know some people won't be happy but I hope they make it PC compatible straight out of the box. Yes it will make getting one harder, but VR is still a niche product. The more they sell, the more developers will want to make games for the platform, and we'll be the winners.

Re: Sony Producing Two Million PSVR2 Headsets by March 2023

Serialsid

I don't think they'll having a problem selling all 2 million. VR is in a much better place than when the first one launched and if they bring the games I reckon it's going to be a massive success. Especially with all the new tech and features the psvr2 has.
Thank god that Sony and Nintendo keep trying to innovate and move gaming in different directions.

Re: PSVR2 Not Looking Cheap as Impressive Features Debut in Hype-Inducing Ad

Serialsid

@Dr_Luigi I think they are trying to find a place between the Quest 2 and high end pcvr like the valve index. And since the index kit is £900, plus needing a pc of similar value to get the 90hz/120hz you need for a good experience I think they might pull it off.
Considering some of the features on the psvr2 are the same or better(never been done before), if they can sell this at £400 I think it has every chance of success. Games permitting of course.

Re: PSVR2 Not Looking Cheap as Impressive Features Debut in Hype-Inducing Ad

Serialsid

@Thehandsomedan But it's not the manufacturer saying this, it's developers and publishers that's being reported by many outlets. So again not naivety and NOT hyperbole! It's games confirmed coming to the platform.
Your obviously a glass half empty type of person, you do your negativity and ill do my optimism and we'll see who's right.
Personally I think they delayed the release to next year so it will have a strong launch lineup and a great first year.

Re: PSVR2 Not Looking Cheap as Impressive Features Debut in Hype-Inducing Ad

Serialsid

@Thehandsomedan no its the number of confirmed games coming, nothing hyperbole about it. Plus Sony have yet to show what they have coming.
And let's not forgot, porting pcvr games will be loads easier because they've been using inside out tracking and similar controllers for years. Lots more sales for their developers.
And the developers of the psvr games are going to want to update their old games so they can sell them on the new platform for more sales.
Me personally, I'm glad it's not backwards compatible, don't want it being held back by old tech.

Re: PS5 Overtakes Switch as UK's Best-Selling Console of 2022

Serialsid

It's great news that more and more people will be able to get their hands on a ps5.
As for the price increase, my family food bill is £10 - £15 more A WEEK! so I honestly don't think a £30 price rise on a console that will last you 5 plus years in the current climate is that bad. And nobodies forced to buy one.

Re: Enormous Appetite for PS5 Pro Pad As DualSense Edge Trends

Serialsid

I reckon it's going to be £150. The case, 3 different thumb sticks, braided cable, interchangeable sticks, back buttons, programmable and trigger locks. That's a lot over the standard one.

And I think still keeping the adaptive triggers and having trigger locks is a win over all the 3rd party controllers out there. With them you either have the adaptive triggers or they put in trigger lock only ones. So to get the benefit of those triggers in most games but then to be able to put the lock on for fps online games will be great.
Hope it comes out this year.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.20 Adds New Cars, Track Layouts, and Menus

Serialsid

@thefourfoldroot1 you know they can carry on updating this game and work on a new one.
Plus I'd argue that all the stuff you just said you'd done is the full game. How many hours did all that take you? I've got 140 hours in the game so got my monies worth.
Everything they keep adding is a bonus to me. If they keep adding more menus and tracks for the next few years like they have been doing it just keeps adding to the value.

Re: Sony Confirms PSVR2's Release Date for Early 2023

Serialsid

@DukeeDukems been playing on pc with a 1 cable VR setup for years. Myself, kids and even my non gaming wife(couldn't pry her off Arizona Sunshine) with absolutely no problems.
I'm glad they are going with the 1 cable so we get next gen full AAA games in VR powered by the ps5. Until they can provide seamless no latency wireless that works 100% of the time for every single consumer, its the best choice.

Re: Days Gone Movie Reportedly Being Produced, Outlander Actor Lined Up

Serialsid

I loved Days gone, great story, brilliant world and taking on a horde was one of the best, tense and most challenging bits of gaming I've played in years.
Though review scores were low I think it's a lot more liked than people think. Some sources say it sold 8-9 million so a movie might do quite well. Hopefully they do it justice.

Re: Video: Is Spider-Man Remastered At Its Best on PC?

Serialsid

@IonMagi and how much was your gaming laptop with a gtx 2080 in? The gtx 2080 only released in 2018 and they were a lot more expensive than a ps5, and that's just for the card.
Digital foundry have done a few tests rating against different cards on roughly the same settings. They generally say it's equivalent mostly to a 2070, but sometimes a 2080. They were very expensive bits of kit. Much better than a laptop 3060.

Re: Video: Is Spider-Man Remastered At Its Best on PC?

Serialsid

Looks like two of the best games on PC this year will come from Sony! I personally think it's great they get to play both these masterpieces! And of course they get the best version, if you'd spent £2k on a rig you'd want it to be better than a mass market home console.
After years of spending thousands on PC'S keeping them upto date, I love the performance I get from my PS5 on my big 4k TV.

Re: Ghost of Tsushima Surpasses 9.73 Million Copies Sold on PS5, PS4

Serialsid

@DeepSpace5D tlou 2 sold only slightly more, but it was a massively hyped sequel to a beloved game. Millions bought tlou 2 on the back of their love for the first one. If it didn't sell more than a new ip it would have been a big failure for Sony.
Also tlou 2 was massively discounted early in its life cycle, much faster than it should have been (and ghost). If anything I'd say tlou 2 under performed. I reckon the "controversial " storyline cost them a good 5-10 million in sales.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium Now Live in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand

Serialsid

@Ryany Sony doesn't need an answer to GP, just needs to be value for money. £99 a year for 700+ games, some brand new 3rd party games plus top tier ps4 and ps5 games. Seems good to me. I have 8 games downloading as we speak.

Oh and I have GP on my series x, had it for years. Playing sniper elite 5 at the moment. GP has been very lack lustre this past year, and looking at the quality of the games available right now, Ps plus premium walks all over GP for me personally. Day one 1st party games mean nothing when they don't have any to drop. Still waiting for my SX to show its worth.

Re: Sony Shares First Look at PS Plus Extra, Premium Games

Serialsid

Personally think Extra is amazing value for money, especially if you were new to PlayStation.
I could never justify buying Demon Souls, as not sure it wouldn't drive me crazy, but will definitely try it on the service. Same with AC Valhalla and death stranding.
If Sony keep the content drops of a decent quality every month I think they could be onto a winner.

Re: PS5, PS4 Exclusives Not Coming to PS Plus at Launch

Serialsid

I'm happy that sony are taking this approach, their games for the most part are worth the money! I don't want to see the level of quality drop!
And as someone who's also a gamepass subscriber, I'd say most of the games added in the last year have just been filler. Yes their 1st party have been getting better reviews, but I think that's more to do with a certain media bias that seems to be happening at the moment. In my opinion halo infinite was adequate at best(with the most bland open world I've seen in years), FS is a technical marvel but not much of a game(plus a massive money sink if you want the expensive other planes). And for some reason, after putting in over a 100 hours into FH4 I just didn't enjoy FH5. Might be me as a gamer, but the game just felt super flashy but ultimately flat! MS have still got to prove they can release new high quality IP's, that my series X was worth the investment.

Re: PS5's DualSense Dubbed the Best Controller of All Time in Public Vote

Serialsid

Dualsense would get my vote too, what it adds to games just can't be matched with any other controller. First time I played wrc9 I loved that not only can you feel the gravel hitting the car, you hear it through the speaker. And the trigger/throttle changing as the engine gets damaged means you feel what's happening with the car without having to look.
I have an xbox elite series 2 controller and yes it's great at what it does, and the rear paddles work well. But having played the same games on both systems, the ps5 is my multiplat of choice every time if the dualsense is used. Which to be fair, so far has been a lot.
Plus I cheated and had the 4 paddle system put on the back of my one controller. And also ordered an Aim controller with their 4 paddle system which gives you the elite benefits but with the haptics/adaptive triggers and speaker added on.

Re: Sony Acquires Haven Studios, the New Developer Led By Jade Raymond

Serialsid

Sony must have been really impressed to aquire them so early. Makes sense though if they are really sure of the games quality and the team behind it. If they'd waited until they had released the game and it became a massive hit they would have ended up paying a lot more for them. As we don't know the money being talked about is hard to say if it's the right call.

Re: Sony Stock Value Loses $20 Billion, But Will Likely Recover

Serialsid

@NEStalgia sorry I can't have a conversation with someone who calls all of Sony's big games tech demos. Just can't take you seriously. If HZD is a tech demo then so is BOTW on switch or forza h5(looks amazing but shallow as hell, with lots and lots of shiny cars thrown at you). GOW sold 19.5 million and to many is a masterpiece, if you think that's a tech demo 🤷‍♂️.
At the end of the day, Sony should just carry on with what they are doing. Make brilliant AAA games and also spread into other types of games, which I believe they are doing right now.
Xbox are pushing value like they are because they have MS bank rolling it. They don't care about gamers, they care about subs. As was pointed out in the other article, xbox hasn't even generated 70 billion in 20 years! They are going to keep buying until they dominate the market. Then we'll really see a very different gaming future. As a GP subscriber I'm under no illusion that it's not always going to be like this. They are already showing their true colours with halo and FH5, yeah the games drop day one but the DLC, add ons and the many many mircotransations are going to cost you.
Anyway I think we're never going to agree so will leave it there. Be interesting to see how the future plays out. I just hope the hobby that I love is still recognisable in 10 years. Cheers.

Re: Sony Stock Value Loses $20 Billion, But Will Likely Recover

Serialsid

@NEStalgia calling HFW a tech demo is just laughable! Has more variety and depth than anything MS has made in the last few years. And I say this as a series x owner that's subscribed to GP for over 2 years. Halo infinite left me very underwhelmed, even my mate who lives and breaths xbox said it was 'meh' when he finished it. A 500 million dollar game! I do agree with some of your points, and yes not having COD may lose them quite a few casual gamers and the revenue they bring. Sony are going to have to be careful going forward, but I hope they find a happy medium. So they do the big quality AAA games that they are renowned for, but also smaller fun titles that they can churn out quicker.
They can't compete with MS and their almost unlimited funds, so they need to show what separates them. Be different. I'm hoping their new subscription service is the start of this.
What worries me as an owner of all 3 systems is that I don't think MS are finished purchasing publishers/studios! I expect ubisoft or EA to be next, they are going to dominate the market and gamers choice is going to get smaller and smaller. And I'm still not convinced that MS can bring quality and quantity(forza h5 being the exception) to GP long term either.

Re: Sony Stock Value Loses $20 Billion, But Will Likely Recover

Serialsid

@NEStalgia you see a company sitting on its laurels, I don't. I see a company that's delivered a true next gen machine, that developed a brilliant controller(xbox was very complacent here) to give us a better gaming experience. That yes is going to continue making sequels to extremely popular titles, and make the type of games that made the ps4 the success it was. To not do that would be stupid. They deliver games that the others don't.
But they have already shown they trying new things, making TV and movies from their best games. Buying mobile studios and moving into the mobile market. Buying a pc porting company to expand their reach. They've stated they want to deliver more games this gen than in any other, expanding internal studios and buying more to do this. They have new ip's coming that may be completely different from the norm, we'll have to wait and see. But neither of us know what has been green lit.
Designing and delivering a cutting edge VR system when the market is so small and niche is a massive gamble. One that xbox don't want to risk.
I personally hope the news yesterday doesn't change their plans. Launch the new subscription service they have planned and have confidence in the titles they have in development. They won't be able to match MS for quantity and value(MS are in this for the long haul, they can afford to lose millions now for future gain) so they should stick to what they do best, quality! Panicking and trying to match Xbox, making big changes to their business model would probably be what MS are hoping they will do.
