@Ashkorsair I think they'll make nearly all of them exclusive, makes their ecosystem a stronger brand. But they might say "look at these games that come free with gamepass day one, or you can buy them for £70 on PlayStation". They win either way. But Sony will be fine either way I'm sure. Going to be an interesting few years for gamers.
@IonMagus like I said, MS need to have a constant flow of games to get people signed up to gamepass and keep them there. Let's see what the quality is like. Doesn't matter if they have 20 or a 100 studios. Like someone else said, Sony just doesn't have MS's money, they need to be careful. At the moment they are leading MS, selling more consoles and in a good position. If that changes they they'll have to adapt, time will tell.
@IonMagus Sony have always said they like to grow their studios organically. Most of the studios are making more than one game. They seem to have quite a lot in the pipeline that I'm looking forward to. It's obviously a different approach to MS, who from the start have just bought studios (bungie and halo) to help their system. Time will tell who has the right approach. But MS haven't launched a killer title in years (in my opinion) and with Gamepass they need to keep the content coming. Will be interesting to see the quality of the games their studios are making over the next few years. And I say this as an owner of both systems.
@djlard they will always make certain games VR only, one because the experience wouldn't be the same on a screen(reason the half life Alex developers stuck to their guns when people wanted to play it without vr), and two so they sell the hardware. If every game was playable without it then most people would not bother. VR needs killer titles to succeed. And from what we've read, they want very high visuals, bigger FOV then any competitor and maybe haptic feedback in the headset itself, that means a cable. As someone who has a PC setup with one cable I'm fine with that, doesn't effect my playtime and I don't have to keep charging it. And it can be lighter with other tech inside. I'm really excited to see what Sony can do with the power of the ps5.
I believe the one cable is the way to go. Only way your going to get high visuals, a bigger field of view and take advantage of the ps5's power. I have a PC vr set up and playing project cars 2 in vr just makes flat screen racing seem so boring. Elite Dangerous is just amazing and Arizona Sunshine was so good I couldn't get my wife off it. I believe if Sony get this right, and the controllers have the dual sense(my favourite controller ever) features, maybe even the headset has some too, with the right launch games they could take VR to the next level.
This is really nice to read about. They did a brilliant job with the game and I'm sure when all the restrictions are lifted tourism on the island will be great. My favourite game of 2020.
Looks decent visually, and they seem to have captured the atmosphere quite well. But not sure if it won't get very samey pretty quickly, unless they have some varied game dynamics in the campaign/gameplay.
@Matroska oh and he kills Marlene because he knows she'll just come after Ellie and she'll never be safe whilst the fireflies are looking for her. He ends it there.
@Matroska Joel lies to her at the end to spare her knowing the truth, because he loves her and doesn't want her to have to live with that knowledge. But if you look at the final scene again, you could argue from the look on her face that she knows he's lying to her, and she knows why he is doing it and she can live with that. And from my point of view he doesn't massacre anyone, he kills people that are about to murder an innocent child, they had it coming. But like I said before, it's just a computer game, people see things differently.
@GREGORIAN your funny. I think it's you that didn't understand the first game. It's a story about two people going through hell together, learning to trust each other, and finally loving each other. He's as much her father by the end of the game as her real dad, and if you think they are strangers by that point I feel sorry for you. And he does what he has to do to protect her, as a father should. You think he is a low life, I think he is just a man living in horrible times just trying to survive and doing what he has to do. Anyway it's only a game, everyone sees things differently.
@danlk1ng Of course he had to kill them, they were going to harvest he's "daughters " body for the slim chance they could make a cure. Forgive me if I get this wrong because it's been a few years since I played it, but didn't they knock him out. Didn't they leave him outside with nothing to defend himself with(Basically killing him) after telling him what was happening. Don't you see all the way through the game how infective the fireflys are? They are going to kill a child without her consent because maybe, and that's a massive maybe, they can make a cure! They are not innocent. Sorry but they are the bad guys to Joel, they are going to kill someone he loves. It's not his place to worry about everyone else, he worries about her. That's the beauty of the first game, it leaves it up to the player to decide if he did the right thing. Its called smart writing. And I can assure you, a hell of a lot of parents would do the same thing, if capable of doing so. I wouldn't hesitate.
@danlk1ng what atrocities at the end of the 1st game? Joel did what most parents would do, myself included! I'm sure that the gameplay and graphics are amazing in the sequel, they certainly look it. But I have no interest in playing that storyline so I cancelled my preorder, plenty of other games to play.
Day one for me, just think this game looks amazing for a smaller studio and i want to support them. Bit baffled by it being digital only though, this game seems to have more hype and attention than some of the bigger games and should have great sales. Would prefer a physical copy but will get it digitally if I have to.
Game looks great and I intend to get it day one. I have no problem with price increases as they cost a lot more to produce now, but it should be level across the board. £70 is the same as $97, that's a big difference we all get the same game, same experience, should be the same price wherever you are.
Like some others, for the most part it didn't show anything new and I'm wondering why they even put this on. How many times can you keep watching videos of the same games. Yeah Kena looks great, I'll get returnal and deathloop but I don't need to keep seeing them. To me they should just post the videos online in the months before release and leave the state of plays for big announcements.
@LordSteev yeah the last few months have been very good. I reckon they might have some nice surprises for the March psplus games on tonight's state of play.
@LordSteev apparently if you use the app or go on the website you can claim the PS5 versions of games and the PS5 games like destruction all-stars. They'll be linked to your ps plus account and then when you do get a PS5 you'll be able to play them.
Loved the game 2 years ago, great story and characters and loved the hordes. Had my fun, don't care if PC gamers get to play it now. More money for Sony to continue making brilliant games and it advertises the Sony brand to millions of PC players! Makes excellent business sense to me. As long as they don't go day and date my box under my TV doesn't get undervalued. Would much rather play the games when they are released than have to wait two years and play them with a few extra bells and whistles.
I believe they'll keep nearly all of them exclusively to xbox. Makes more sense long term for gamepass. I have both systems so not bothered, but I'm also not a fan of Bethesda anymore, as the quality has definitely been going down. I do wonder at Microsofts future quality as well, they need to fill gamepass with a constant influx of new games, to keep the value going. I worry its going to be quantity over quality as them seem to be aiming for the casual gamers. They want people on gamepass, they're not bothered if it's a xbox die hard or the phone user who plays a couple of games.

Really enjoyed the first one. Had its own distinctive style, at that price point im interested to see the reviews.
