Re: UK's Regulator Responds to European Commission's Decision to Pass Xbox's Activision Buyout

Serialsid

@GamingFan4Lyf MS already has nearly 70% of the cloud streaming market. They have spent billions building their infrastructure, money that didn't come from xbox or gaming. Who can compete with that?
Analysts predict the cloud market will be worth 14 billion by 2030.
The deal goes through today, they get COD, overwatch, candy crush(a massive cash cow) and WOW plus all the other IP. In 2033 they pull every single game and IP they own and make them only available through their service. Other services don't stand a chance, and there is your monopoly.
And don't forget they have said they want more acquisitions after this one.
As a gamer, that future doesn't look too bright to me.

Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2

Serialsid

@twitchtvpat horizon is a good game, just to much climbing for me! Looks great though.
Yeah I hope re7 gets an upgrade too, but I don't think it will. Can't recommend village enough though, great experience and visuals in vr. The atmosphere is totally different to the flat version.
I've not tried no mans sky yet, heard mixed reviews.

Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2

Serialsid

@TrickyDicky99 its always going to be a niche market, limited sales numbers so limited gaming budgets. Will never change, well not until the tech matures well past what we have now, so I really don't know what your expecting.
Psvr2 is getting 1st party games, quest(not ideal) and more and more pc ports that take advantage of the psvr2's extra features. Plus Sony have said they are looking to have games that cross both meduims, like res evil village does. How good they'll be who knows. But that's what we're going to get, that is modern day VR. So if your not interested in any of those then yes, I don't think vr is for you and won't be for a long time.

Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2

Serialsid

@TrickyDicky99 again you have no numbers since it started selling at retailers so you have no idea how its selling.
GT7 being a cross gen game stop doesn't stop it being the best driving experience on any vr platform. What gen a game is had no bearing on its quality, just look at the latest Zelda, a masterpiece by all accounts on a tablet!
The games I mentioned aren't indies. And AAA games cost anywhere between 50-100 million these days, you think they're going to do that for a vr game? It's obvious that VR is not for you and never will be.

Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2

Serialsid

@TrickyDicky99 that's poor sales according to you! How many were you expecting them to sell in the first month? And we have no numbers since then, so how sales are going after retailers starting selling we don't know.
Gt7 and resident Village are brilliant AAA experiences, and there looks to be plenty more coming, hubris, crossfire, firewall, redmatter 2, journey to foundation, project Wingman. And let's see what the showcase has to offer.
And I like how you say most people all the time, how many people did you survey?

Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2

Serialsid

@TrickyDicky99 I'm not defending anyone, just stating that in the VR landscape its apparently doing well. And it's way too soon to be so negative for such a niche product.
And demand what exactly? I think it's selling for a very fair price. It has some great games already and around 100 more in production/ being ported. I've been having an amazing time in the games I've played so far and it's miles better than my old pcvr.
Now if in a years time there's hardly anything in production or support from Sony then yeah, I'll moan then. But for me it's been a great launch.

Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2

Serialsid

@TrickyDicky99 well Sony obviously doesn't think so. Most of the narrative has been from Bloomberg, how many they wanted to sell, oh no the forecast is not good, Sony are cutting production! It's only sold 300k in a month!
The only thing we've actually heard from Sony is that they are not cutting production.
If you actually look at the numbers (if true) it's been a good launch. Highest ever for a wired VR headset, and against others it's still very good. Pico 4 47k and the Valve Index with millions of possible PC gamers 46k. The quest 2 which launched at great value and marketing is obviously out of its reach, but in the vr landscape its doing well.

The thing is, only Sony know if its hitting the sales numbers they were expecting. We have no idea how its tracking for them

It's just starting selling at retailers, so the numbers could get very interesting now(very in the UK showed they sold 150 in 48 hours, that's one retailer not known for gaming. Game are selling it with 2 games for £15 more). They hopefully have a big showcase coming up, to show what they have coming. With that and some great deals at Christmas it could be a very different story by the end of the year. If not then they can pivot. But to write it off after 3 months is just laughable.

Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2

Serialsid

@SBan83 why would Sony want to do that? They are making very little on the hardware, they'll make their money on software sales, mostly through the PS store(would imagine most game sales will be digital). They make it PC compatible and steam gets the money, Sony would only get a cut from 1st party games.
Would only make sense if Sony had a PC store and the games could only work through their launcher.

Re: F1 23 Gameplay Flaunts Revamped Physics, Improved Handling, Red Flags, More

Serialsid

After the immersion of gt7 in VR I don't think I'll play any driving game flat screen again. I would have bought this day one if it had good psvr2 support, something I've never done with a F1 game.
Hopefully a psvr2 update does come as there are plenty of pc games getting ported over so we know it's possible. I do wonder if they won't though because it's on xbox aswell and they don't want the controversy it might bring? 🤔

Re: Xbox Boss Admits Microsoft Can't 'Outconsole' PS5

Serialsid

@awp69 hi-fi rush was a nice little niche game, well reviewed but short and definitely not a game that interested the average gamer. Not a system seller. It's not even in the top 100 games played on steam(plenty of xbox games are). Yeah it's a nice new ip but not the reason I bought a series x for.
I have the opposite problem from you, my series x gathers dust whilst I'm constantly on my ps5. Thing is I have faith playstation will deliver great games so I don't need to know everything they have coming. That their new IP like ghost of tsushima will be of a great standard. With xbox I have no faith, which is why I've just cancelled GP. And if Starfield turns out to be a donkey I'll probably sell my X. If your ps5 is gathering dust as you say and nothing Sony has coming interests you, you can still get good money selling it. 👍

Re: Activision Poised to Pocket a Cool $3 Billion if Xbox Buyout Breaks Down

Serialsid

@SgtTruth I agree that playstation need to improve in cloud gaming. And like it or not it is the future. I think that's why Sony partnered with MS to use their Azure cloud services. Though I should imagine that's not sitting well at the moment after the war of words in the last few months.
Though I will say from personal experience, streaming from ps plus premium has been very good for me since getting much faster fibre. Though still room for improvement.

Re: Activision Poised to Pocket a Cool $3 Billion if Xbox Buyout Breaks Down

Serialsid

@AverageGamer

Xbox hardware down 30% only 2 years after launching. This is awful for any company.
They themselves have said gamepass on console has stagnated. PC is their growth and they want the phone market. Even hard-core xbox gamers are now questioning if they care about the console gamer any more!
They have 24 game studios, more than Sony and Nintendo but deliver very little. They seem to really struggle to manage their studios. If they hadn't bought Bethesda what big games would they have this year?
When they do release we get half finished games like Halo(a mediocre game with a bland world). Or the new Redfall launching on a 12tflop machine running at 30fps!
Yes I agree they do have some good live service games and gamepass can be good value. But apart from the odd 3rd party day one release most have just been filler for awhile now. For me anyway.
After subscribing to gamepass for nearly 4 years I've just cancelled my renewal. I'm really hoping Starfield is going to be the masterpiece they say it will be. Will give me a reason to subscribe again and turn my series x on.
I'm not saying xbox is doomed, but for me personally the last few years being an xbox owner have been poor.

Oh and the series s is the biggest mistake xbox have ever made. Too under powered, and because its selling more than the series x it will hurt xbox game development longterm. We've already seen 6 developers ask MS if they can just make their games for the series x only.
Funny thing is, the S was released to basically be a gamepass machine, but its not growing subscribers just hampering their games.

Re: Activision Poised to Pocket a Cool $3 Billion if Xbox Buyout Breaks Down

Serialsid

@SgtTruth this deal wasn't blocked because of COD, it was blocked because of cloud gaming and them getting a monopoly! They already have 60-70% share and owning candy crush/ world of warcraft/ overwatch and cod going into the future would have made them even stronger.
Like it or not cloud is the future. And I would bet you that in 10 years xbox would have pulled all Activision games from other platforms and made them only available on their cloud service.
The 10 year deal was just to make everyone happy whilst cloud gaming got stronger. MS know what they are doing.
And from reports coming out now, the 10 year deal was terrible. They were set to keep 100% of the profits from sales and in game purchases!

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores?

Serialsid

I gave it a 9. Value for money alone was brilliant (around 20 hours for me). Really enjoyed the new area, some fun missions and new machines were a level up from the main game.
Looking forward to the 3rd installment, I really like Aloy's character and the journey she's been on. Wasn't a fan of the love interest at the end though, came out of left field and didn't feel earned. But that's just me.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores?

Serialsid

@KundaliniRising333 nothing to do with criticism of the game. You said they didn't showcase it enough for you so it was a red flag! I'm just saying in my opinion they didn't need to. It's more of the same with a new story. You either want to play more in the horizon world or you don't.
And for just £16 it's a bargain in today's gaming landscape.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores?

Serialsid

@KundaliniRising333 maybe for once they just wanted to let people discover the new area's, npcs and mechanics for themselves!
I'm finding it quite refreshing to actually play something that hasn't been spoilt by loads of showcases and overlong trailers. And by now we all know what horizon is, we all have a pretty good idea that it's just an expansion of the world they created. Why does everything have to be shown to death?
I loved both games, so for £16 it's a no brainer for me! I trust them to deliver a quality product, and so far I'm extremely pleased. I'm guessing it's going to be 10 to 20 hours(longer than some full price games) so great value too.
You obviously didn't like forbidden west much anyway, so I'm not surprised this dlc holds little appeal for you.

Re: Resident Evil 4's PS5, PS4 Sales in the UK Leave Xbox to the Los Ganados

Serialsid

@K1LLEGAL is usually around the 87% as you say, because PC isn't normally included. Take PC out and the percentage is obviously higher than 65%.
Yes there are probably more ps4/5 in the UK but I don't think it's a massive difference. Where I work most game on xbox.
Like you said, it's good to have digital included(wish it was all the time), but I do think it shows xbox gamers are buying less games, GP is conditioning certain users to just wait for titles to drop into the service. I remember when elden ring came out and we were all taking about it at work and the first thing one of the xbox lads said was "is it coming to gamepass"?

Re: Rumour: Sony's Allegedly Cut PSVR2 Production Plan by 20% in 2023

Serialsid

@Wheatly psvr2 doesn't need halflife alyx, would be bloody nice but I'd argue resident evil village and GT7 are bigger draws than alyx to the majority of console gamers. Plus it didn't exactly sell millions of value indexes did it? (Though I will grant it had a high entry point).
All this doom and gloom makes me laugh, 300k in one month for an expensive luxury item is pretty good in my opinion. Let's see how it sells for the rest of the year. Let's see what they have planned for the Xmas period.
Just going on Bloomberg numbers which Sony have never confirmed or commented on is just weird to me.
I'm confident Sony have some great games coming, tons of 3rd party support and pcvr ports.

Re: PS Plus Essential PS5, PS4 Games for April 2023 Announced

Serialsid

Looking forward to trying out Meet your maker, could be really good if the building mechanics are fun with lots of options. Though I think I'll enjoy trying to raid other players creations.
Sackboy is a brilliant game, was great playing coop with my son. Its quite funny in places and has a lot of charm. Great addition for those who have never played it.

Re: Poll: We Want You to Rate Your Favourite PSVR2 Games

Serialsid

Gt7 is a definite 10 for me. Its crazy how many hours you can sink into that game whilst your immersed in VR. Sony should have boxed this game with the headset instead of horizon.
Res Village so far is a 9. Amazing visuals and atmosphere, just a few technical issues. But an impressive game that shows what can be done with normal flat games.
Star wars surprised me, had a great time blasting through the levels and its just fun. An 8 for me.
Kayak is visually impressive and very relaxing but definitely needs more added.
Horizon has been my biggest disappointment. Visually great and very interactive but a big over use of the climbing mechanic. I actually like the combat, just wish there was more of it. Still give it a 7 though.
Have switchback installed but not tried it yet. After everything I've read I might wait for a few more patches before giving it a go.

Re: PS Plus Essential PS5, PS4 Game for April Revealed Early

Serialsid

@Ken_Kaniff I may be wrong but I don't think it's a MP game at all. You either create outposts by building, designing traps, putting guards in and doing their patrol routes.
Or you enter other people's outposts and try to get past their twisted minds to grab the treasure. According to the blog you can do that with a friend.
If they can make it so there's lots of options, designs, mods and updates it could be a really fun game. Least they are trying something different.

Re: PS Plus Essential PS5, PS4 Game for April Revealed Early

Serialsid

I think it looks good, really inventive idea and solid gameplay.
Dropping on plus makes great sense, if it gets a big enough player base you could end up with millions of different levels to try, like Mario maker 2 does. And with the devious minds of gamers out there, some of the challenges could be extreme.
I hope they have a plan to keep updating and adding more content/traps, would give it a long self life. I wonder if like mario maker 2 you have to have run your own design first to show it can be done?

Re: RoboCop: Rogue City Could Be the RoboCop Game We've Always Wanted

Serialsid

Can't wait for this game, just loved the original film when I was a kid, and this definitely has the atmosphere and mood right. And as I really enjoyed terminator resistance I'm hopefully this turns out decent.
This is the sort of game that would crossover brilliantly into VR aswell, but that's probably just wishful thinking.

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop no I'm arguing that it didn't need to be a system seller. Just needed to be a fun adventure that shows off the hardware! Job done! That and the rest of the launch line up sell the system. That and Sony's pedigree in the gaming market.
And when did it become Sony's poster child? Where did you ever read that it was going to be some sort of masterpiece? That it was going to be of the same standard as alyx? Please do tell?
And faith is the reason I bought a ps5 day one! The faith that sony would deliver great games over its life cycle. Its the same with the psvr2, and I'd imagine for lot of other playstation gamers.

You still haven't haven't shown me where I said it was a system seller?
You still haven't said why you've "apparently" spent £570 on a headset with no killer game?
You haven't provided any evidence that the horizon game hasn't sold units? Be interesting to see the split between the two bundles, I bet you'd be surprised! Be funny if the horizon bundle sold more eh!

Oh and I don't know if you noticed, but we're the only 2 in here! I'm not trying to sell anyone anything! I think it's hilarious that you think I've been trying too.

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop I'm still waiting for you to show me where I said it was a system seller?
And Sony don't lack a system seller. GT7 is a massive system seller. From reading and watching YouTube/ websites for the last few weeks, as soon as it was confirmed it was the full game loads of gamers were immediately pulling the trigger. I even saw PC gamers stating they'd ordered ps5 + gt7 together. Hell it even made you buy it! YouTube is full of videos showing the game, go read the comments. It's selling systems. More so than alyx ever did for pcvr.
And resident evil village seems to he reviewing incredibly well for what you call just a patch! People are loving playing the whole game in vr, stating how different the experience is. And though horizon isn't a alyx killer, it's still a fun, interactive adventure that shows off the hardware and what it can do. That's why it's on the box.
My argument is that horizon didn't need to be some AAA alyx defining game, it just needed to be what it turned out to be. And that with gt7, village and the 40 other games on offer, plus the reputation that sony has earned for their excellent games and the promise of things to come is enough to give the headset a great launch.
You seem to be the only one that thinks horizon needed to change the vr world, you seem fixated on that point! It didn't! Again I have faith those games will come, that Sony will deliver. And again I don't understand why your not asking for your money back? You obviously don't think Sony have learnt anything from the psvr, so why buy the headset?

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop please show me anywhere that I said horizon was a system seller?........
I said no such thing. Just that it was much more interactive than Alyx. I've been very consistent thanks.
I'm sure in 3 years time we will be looking back over a great selection of games. Games that break the vr mold with the eye tracking, haptics and triggers. I have faith that sony will deliver, that's why I spent £570! Still not sure why you did! The psvr2 has a massive amount of buzz about it at the moment, I'm sure horizon just being a tech demo as you put it is not going to decide whether it is successful or not!
But you keep going on and on about alyx, a great game but even that wasn't a real system seller. The numbers don't lie.

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop horizon was never going to be a AAA masterpiece, it was a game to show what the headset can do. Same as astrobot showed what the dualsense could do, and it should have been packed In the same as astrobot was with the ps5.
Think you had it built up a bit too much in your head. And i personally quite enjoy the combat, it's fun and the bow feels great with the haptics and triggers. More immersive than any pcvr game has done yet.
But all this negativity still makes me wonder why you apparently bought a psvr2? Why spend £570 on something you have no faith in? You have no faith in Sony to deliver anything groundbreaking? So so strange? Just ask for a refund on your "DOA" unit and wait to see if Sony can be bothered to deliver!
And i wouldn't worry about Sony selling these things, GT7 alone has more hype than any VR game in years, more words like "ground breaking" "spectacular " "revelation " "mind blowing"! That's the system seller. A game the was designed from the beginning with VR in mind!

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop who mentioned combat? I was talking about interaction? Interacting with the environment, something it does better than alyx(looks loads better to). It's an 8 hour game to show what the headset can do. No it's not as good as Alyx, never said it was. But it's a good start. Village is getting great reviews and GT7 is blowing up YouTube.
They've launched with 40 games, there are over 100 in development or being ported over. After spending millions in developing this headset I'm sure Sony have some great surprises in store. Your righting it off after being out a few days !!!
At the end of the day, pcvr gaming stalled massively after Alyx, the quest 2 pretty well killed all creativity with developers making games for a mobile chipset! This headset has the potential to make high end vr gaming great again, to push the medium forward, which will benefit pcvr gaming too. Its shows what can be done with eye tracking and great haptics.
And I'm not trying to fool anyone into buying anything, don't care less. Think YouTube has been a massive sales boost, better than any advertising Sony could do.
I hope you enjoy your replacement for your "DOA" unit! But i think we all know your biased against it before you've even put it on your head! Just keep droning on about 3 and 6 year old games and the rest of us will enjoy what's available to play now. Cheers.

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop of course people are asking for Alyx on psvr2, it's the best game on pcvr. And it would be even better with the haptics, triggers of the psvr2. But that has nothing to do with the quality of the AAA games on psvr2. They are brilliant.
How much of the world can you interact with in Alyx compared to horizon? Maybe you should play them first before waffling on about generations! Oh I'm sorry, you've watched videos on the net!
And I've had a HP windows mixed reality headset for years now. And i can tell you after years of pcvr and constantly playing with settings and patches like with project cars 2, the psvr2 is a breath of fresh air! Just plug and play, and looks better than any psvr driving game.
Again go and watch MRTV play horizon, a man that's played every single headset, including 8k systems. He loved the game, visuals and interactivity! Again why have you bought a headset that has no games you consider any good? That are just patches?

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop really doesn't make sense why you paid £570 for something with according to you such a bad launch line up, and you don't seem to have any faith in Sony taking VR forwards. Just because you saw some gt7 streams? You should have saved yourself the money and played all the great games that came after halflife alyx on your pcvr! Oh that's right, pcvr stagnated terribly after that.
Oh and gt7 was designed with VR in mind from the start, as the developer has said. So not just a patch.
Several reviews have hailed resident evil village as a better vr experience than Alyx, better visuals and more interactive. Though Alyx is a great shooter, games like village and Horizon have much better interactivity. I'd say Alyx is a generation behind!
Plus the haptics in the headset/controllers with the adaptive triggers make these games much more immersive than pcvr, and i say this as someone who's had a pcvr setup for years now. Playing the star wars game last night and it's so much fun using the weapons/tools and feeling the haptics in the controllers and in the headset.
I've watched tons of reaction/reviews online from some of the biggest VR sites and they for the most part love the headset and what it can bring to VR. MRTV who has used every single headset on the market thinks its incredible value and is loving playing the new games.
Maybe you should just get your money back on your DOA unit and come back in a few years when there might be some games good enough to come up to your high standards.
