Will be interesting to see how the psvr2 visuals improve with foveated rendering. I've held off playing it on the headset because of all the negative comments.
@michaelf you can get it for £43 online. I loved the original film, game seems to capture the tone and atmosphere quite well, so will be a day one for me.
@XboxTheBestBox I hope your right about some of the games xbox have coming, will finally make my investment in my day one X worth it. I am genuinely very excited for Starfield, I have a feeling it could be special. And I'm sure hellblade 2 will be a great game. But the rest? Indiana Jones we know nothing about. Could be another redfall. Perfect dark was taken back to the drawing board, and I'd be surprised if we see that before 2026. And the outer world's 2 could be years away too.
Though I think forza will probably be a better game than gt7(as it should being next gen only), after 120 hours in gt7 vr2, racing flat screen has no appeal to me anymore.
For Sony's games in 2024, we don't know much, personally think they've been keeping a lot of secrets whilst the activision deal dragged on. Hopefully we will get some idea soon. But the thing is, whatever games we get, we know they will be quality games. Xbox has a lot to prove now. That they can keep a constant supply of great games coming, and not just GP fodder.
Oh and apart from the first few months, the Series S has been readily available in the UK. And from mid 2022 it was the same for the series x. Its not stock issues that are holding them back.
@JayJ can you show any Sony press release stating they are introducing the ps5 pro? I've seen lots of rumours and speculation but nothing from Sony themselves. And most people's best guess seems to be Xmas 2024! So you think gamers are fools for buying a console now, to play games now? That they should wait another 16 months just for the off chance the pro does come out? Plus what was the sales ratio between the ps4 and the ps4 pro? From what I understand, the pro was between 20-40% of all sales. Your average gamer/ parent had no interest in the pro model.
Looks pretty good from that short clip. The film is brilliant, if they can capture that atmosphere with the same attention to detail it might be a decent shooter. Nice for COD to have a bit of competition anyway.
Personally I really enjoyed it at launch. Just a fun experience with some great jump scares. Will definitely try it again with the updates as it is fun to replay through.
Another great month for me, plenty of games I want to try out. The value in Extra is simply amazing in my opinion. Can't recommend It Takes Two enough, a brilliant coop game.
Nice to have some new cars, but what I really want is an update for psvr2. I'm loving the online races in VR, think I've put 70 hours into them. But it really needs more info displayed, specifically the split times to the other racers.
Looks really good. If they nail the open sandbox well, and it feels like a living breathing city it could be great. I enjoyed American Fugitive so will probably give this a go.
Personally think it looks like a fun game, I like that it has rpg elements too. And the reviewer moaning that the story follows the films to closely as a bad thing would only make sense of they were modern films. I can imagine a lot of younger gamers have never seen the movies and will enjoy murphy's struggles with his new reality.
If I ignore the almost complete lack of any 1st party games I actually enjoyed it. Nice mix of games, big and small. Personally I counted 11 games im going to buy including 3 of the psvr2 games. I do think Sony need to have something in September with more 1st party news though.
Even though I have 0 interest in gaming on my mobile I think this is a great move by Sony!
The more money they bring in the better for the brand, and it makes them stronger going forward.
MS have almost unlimited funds and are showing that they are willing to spend it, and that they are in this for the long haul! For Sony to keep competing they need as many revenue streams coming in as possible. Just sticking to only big single player AAA games would be suicide long term.
As I put above, the mobile gaming market was worth $122 billion last year and its predicted to keep growing. For Sony to not want a slice of that would be really really stupid.
Looking forward to the new cafe menus, always good fun. I'm loving the world series in sport at the moment though, some brilliant online races available. Though race C around the nurburgring with dynamic weather is both amazing and painful!
@thefourfoldroot1 yeah all good points, I reckon they launched it in Feb so by the time it had its first big Christmas push the software lineup will look very strong. I'd bet the psvr2 will hit 10 million in its lifetime.
Personally think those numbers are very good, especially as in the main markets you could only buy from Sony. They could be over a million now that is open to retailers. Sony are going to have a lot of eyes on the show tonight, lots of exposure. Some really good game announcements for psvr2, a strong lineup into the Christmas holidays and better marketing and I think it could be a great first year for psvr2. Anyway I'm loving the headset, over 40 hours in gt7 (just so addictive, even got me into the sport mode), some other really great games and the tech is brilliant. I find it super comfy and it's never fogged up once. For me it's been worth every penny.
Trying not to get too excited, but it's been so long I'm confident they have some big surprises in store. We'll that's what I'm telling myself. Hoping last of us multiplayer looks great and spiderman 2 finally shows off what next gen can do. If I'm swinging for the fences, I'd love all the resistance games remade for psvr2 in one package!
Pretty excited to see what they have for us. Don't mind some decent indies and 3rd party, but really want to see 3 or 4 1st party games, even if its just a tease. Oh and some big psvr2 announcements! Surely astrobot will show himself!
Finally time to see what they been cooking. Pretty hyped for this, first showcase without the ps4 being mentioned! Looking forward to seeing what they have in store for psvr2 too.
@SBan83 and you don't know if its selling at a profit either. They've spent millions on R&D, production, and parts have gone up alot in the last 2 years alone. They will be making the majority/all of their profit from their own store selling software. They want their 30% cut off pavlov, not give it to steam. And I wouldn't call the 40-50 games in the launch line up as tiny. I'd even say it's one of the strongest of any hardware ever. For me personally gt7 and village were worth the price alone, and I've been having great fun with other titles too. I've even seen PC gamers on forums buying ps5/psvr2 just to play gt7. We have some great games coming that we already know of, and hopefully more to be revealed very soon. Anyway I don't think Sony will ever make it PC compatible, just not in their own interests. So maybe you should just ignore psvr2.
Oh and to your other reply to @RonnieL, we don't know the sales numbers, especially since its been released to retailers. It had the best sales launch of any wired headset and very good compared to nearly every other headset apart from quest 2. And it was never going to beat that. Nobody knows if Sony are happy with the numbers or not.
Such a beautiful game, one of the best looking games I've ever played. I remember my ps4 Pro sounded like it was going to take off! The combat, atmosphere and characters really immersed me in the world. looking forward to the next one.
@GamingFan4Lyf MS are the market leader because they saw the potential of cloud gaming/services and had the financial backing to create an amazing infrastructure! We're talking billions to create and operate. With Facebook they laid a 4000 mile transatlantic cable, they are doing that all over the world to link up their data centers. You think anyone else in the gaming landscape can afford to do that?? Microsoft are playing the long game, they are getting all their ducks in a row for the future. So they can dominate gaming like they do PC operating systems. They are spending these billions because they see the future and how they can control it. We will have to agree to disagree, I think you're wrong about console hardware always being a thing. People will play COD on streaming because they won't have a choice. The generation growing up with gaming now won't care about hardware. They'll just click an app on their TV, grab their controller and off they go.
@GamingFan4Lyf yes and in the streaming market they will be the dominant leader, by a massive margin! They will have the best infrastructure, the biggest IPs and the biggest marketing. How is it going to be economic suicide to make people have to subscribe to their service if they want to play all their favourite games after taking them off all the others? Streaming will be the future, like it or not. No need for console or pc. Hundreds of millions subscribing to MS because they have the monopoly. The licencing revenue would be nothing compared to the billions they will make from subscribers. Especially after they start wacking the price up. And when they have the dominant streaming service they can then dictate to other publishers how much cut they want for the privilege to be on their platform. They will make steam look nice by comparison.
@GamingFan4Lyf MS already has nearly 70% of the cloud streaming market. They have spent billions building their infrastructure, money that didn't come from xbox or gaming. Who can compete with that? Analysts predict the cloud market will be worth 14 billion by 2030. The deal goes through today, they get COD, overwatch, candy crush(a massive cash cow) and WOW plus all the other IP. In 2033 they pull every single game and IP they own and make them only available through their service. Other services don't stand a chance, and there is your monopoly. And don't forget they have said they want more acquisitions after this one. As a gamer, that future doesn't look too bright to me.
@twitchtvpat horizon is a good game, just to much climbing for me! Looks great though. Yeah I hope re7 gets an upgrade too, but I don't think it will. Can't recommend village enough though, great experience and visuals in vr. The atmosphere is totally different to the flat version. I've not tried no mans sky yet, heard mixed reviews.
@TrickyDicky99 its always going to be a niche market, limited sales numbers so limited gaming budgets. Will never change, well not until the tech matures well past what we have now, so I really don't know what your expecting. Psvr2 is getting 1st party games, quest(not ideal) and more and more pc ports that take advantage of the psvr2's extra features. Plus Sony have said they are looking to have games that cross both meduims, like res evil village does. How good they'll be who knows. But that's what we're going to get, that is modern day VR. So if your not interested in any of those then yes, I don't think vr is for you and won't be for a long time.
@TrickyDicky99 again you have no numbers since it started selling at retailers so you have no idea how its selling. GT7 being a cross gen game stop doesn't stop it being the best driving experience on any vr platform. What gen a game is had no bearing on its quality, just look at the latest Zelda, a masterpiece by all accounts on a tablet! The games I mentioned aren't indies. And AAA games cost anywhere between 50-100 million these days, you think they're going to do that for a vr game? It's obvious that VR is not for you and never will be.
@TrickyDicky99 that's poor sales according to you! How many were you expecting them to sell in the first month? And we have no numbers since then, so how sales are going after retailers starting selling we don't know. Gt7 and resident Village are brilliant AAA experiences, and there looks to be plenty more coming, hubris, crossfire, firewall, redmatter 2, journey to foundation, project Wingman. And let's see what the showcase has to offer. And I like how you say most people all the time, how many people did you survey?
@TrickyDicky99 I'm not defending anyone, just stating that in the VR landscape its apparently doing well. And it's way too soon to be so negative for such a niche product. And demand what exactly? I think it's selling for a very fair price. It has some great games already and around 100 more in production/ being ported. I've been having an amazing time in the games I've played so far and it's miles better than my old pcvr. Now if in a years time there's hardly anything in production or support from Sony then yeah, I'll moan then. But for me it's been a great launch.
@TrickyDicky99 well Sony obviously doesn't think so. Most of the narrative has been from Bloomberg, how many they wanted to sell, oh no the forecast is not good, Sony are cutting production! It's only sold 300k in a month!
The only thing we've actually heard from Sony is that they are not cutting production.
If you actually look at the numbers (if true) it's been a good launch. Highest ever for a wired VR headset, and against others it's still very good. Pico 4 47k and the Valve Index with millions of possible PC gamers 46k. The quest 2 which launched at great value and marketing is obviously out of its reach, but in the vr landscape its doing well.
The thing is, only Sony know if its hitting the sales numbers they were expecting. We have no idea how its tracking for them
It's just starting selling at retailers, so the numbers could get very interesting now(very in the UK showed they sold 150 in 48 hours, that's one retailer not known for gaming. Game are selling it with 2 games for £15 more). They hopefully have a big showcase coming up, to show what they have coming. With that and some great deals at Christmas it could be a very different story by the end of the year. If not then they can pivot. But to write it off after 3 months is just laughable.
@SBan83 again they are hardly making any money on the hardware. They want to sell it and have people spending money in their ecosystem. They'll get their 30% from all the 3rd party games sales, which is the vast majority of the games. Why put it on PC so steam can get the 30%? Makes no business sense.
@SBan83 why would Sony want to do that? They are making very little on the hardware, they'll make their money on software sales, mostly through the PS store(would imagine most game sales will be digital). They make it PC compatible and steam gets the money, Sony would only get a cut from 1st party games. Would only make sense if Sony had a PC store and the games could only work through their launcher.
Would have actually bought day 1 if it had psvr2 support, something I've never done with an F1 game. Not too bothered though as GT7 is by far the best VR experience you can have and still has me hooked. Don't think it's install base either as there are plenty of PC ports happening right now. Just think it's EA being EA.
After the immersion of gt7 in VR I don't think I'll play any driving game flat screen again. I would have bought this day one if it had good psvr2 support, something I've never done with a F1 game. Hopefully a psvr2 update does come as there are plenty of pc games getting ported over so we know it's possible. I do wonder if they won't though because it's on xbox aswell and they don't want the controversy it might bring? 🤔
@awp69 hi-fi rush was a nice little niche game, well reviewed but short and definitely not a game that interested the average gamer. Not a system seller. It's not even in the top 100 games played on steam(plenty of xbox games are). Yeah it's a nice new ip but not the reason I bought a series x for.
I have the opposite problem from you, my series x gathers dust whilst I'm constantly on my ps5. Thing is I have faith playstation will deliver great games so I don't need to know everything they have coming. That their new IP like ghost of tsushima will be of a great standard. With xbox I have no faith, which is why I've just cancelled GP. And if Starfield turns out to be a donkey I'll probably sell my X. If your ps5 is gathering dust as you say and nothing Sony has coming interests you, you can still get good money selling it. 👍
@SgtTruth I agree that playstation need to improve in cloud gaming. And like it or not it is the future. I think that's why Sony partnered with MS to use their Azure cloud services. Though I should imagine that's not sitting well at the moment after the war of words in the last few months. Though I will say from personal experience, streaming from ps plus premium has been very good for me since getting much faster fibre. Though still room for improvement.
Xbox hardware down 30% only 2 years after launching. This is awful for any company. They themselves have said gamepass on console has stagnated. PC is their growth and they want the phone market. Even hard-core xbox gamers are now questioning if they care about the console gamer any more! They have 24 game studios, more than Sony and Nintendo but deliver very little. They seem to really struggle to manage their studios. If they hadn't bought Bethesda what big games would they have this year? When they do release we get half finished games like Halo(a mediocre game with a bland world). Or the new Redfall launching on a 12tflop machine running at 30fps! Yes I agree they do have some good live service games and gamepass can be good value. But apart from the odd 3rd party day one release most have just been filler for awhile now. For me anyway. After subscribing to gamepass for nearly 4 years I've just cancelled my renewal. I'm really hoping Starfield is going to be the masterpiece they say it will be. Will give me a reason to subscribe again and turn my series x on. I'm not saying xbox is doomed, but for me personally the last few years being an xbox owner have been poor.
Oh and the series s is the biggest mistake xbox have ever made. Too under powered, and because its selling more than the series x it will hurt xbox game development longterm. We've already seen 6 developers ask MS if they can just make their games for the series x only. Funny thing is, the S was released to basically be a gamepass machine, but its not growing subscribers just hampering their games.
@SgtTruth this deal wasn't blocked because of COD, it was blocked because of cloud gaming and them getting a monopoly! They already have 60-70% share and owning candy crush/ world of warcraft/ overwatch and cod going into the future would have made them even stronger. Like it or not cloud is the future. And I would bet you that in 10 years xbox would have pulled all Activision games from other platforms and made them only available on their cloud service. The 10 year deal was just to make everyone happy whilst cloud gaming got stronger. MS know what they are doing. And from reports coming out now, the 10 year deal was terrible. They were set to keep 100% of the profits from sales and in game purchases!
I gave it a 9. Value for money alone was brilliant (around 20 hours for me). Really enjoyed the new area, some fun missions and new machines were a level up from the main game. Looking forward to the 3rd installment, I really like Aloy's character and the journey she's been on. Wasn't a fan of the love interest at the end though, came out of left field and didn't feel earned. But that's just me.
Graphics and world design look cool, but the mech action looked way to hyper for me personally. Think I'm too old school, but I like my mechs, big, slow and looking like they weigh 20 tonnes.

Yeah I hope re7 gets an upgrade too, but I don't think it will. Can't recommend village enough though, great experience and visuals in vr. The atmosphere is totally different to the flat version.
I've not tried no mans sky yet, heard mixed reviews.
Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2
Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2
@twitchtvpat hope you enjoy it 👍. What games are you starting with?
Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2
@TrickyDicky99 again you have no numbers since it started selling at retailers so you have no idea how its selling.
GT7 being a cross gen game stop doesn't stop it being the best driving experience on any vr platform. What gen a game is had no bearing on its quality, just look at the latest Zelda, a masterpiece by all accounts on a tablet!
The games I mentioned aren't indies. And AAA games cost anywhere between 50-100 million these days, you think they're going to do that for a vr game? It's obvious that VR is not for you and never will be.
Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2
@TrickyDicky99 that's poor sales according to you! How many were you expecting them to sell in the first month? And we have no numbers since then, so how sales are going after retailers starting selling we don't know.
Gt7 and resident Village are brilliant AAA experiences, and there looks to be plenty more coming, hubris, crossfire, firewall, redmatter 2, journey to foundation, project Wingman. And let's see what the showcase has to offer.
And I like how you say most people all the time, how many people did you survey?
Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2
@TrickyDicky99 I'm not defending anyone, just stating that in the VR landscape its apparently doing well. And it's way too soon to be so negative for such a niche product.
And demand what exactly? I think it's selling for a very fair price. It has some great games already and around 100 more in production/ being ported. I've been having an amazing time in the games I've played so far and it's miles better than my old pcvr.
Now if in a years time there's hardly anything in production or support from Sony then yeah, I'll moan then. But for me it's been a great launch.
Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2
Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2
@SBan83 again they are hardly making any money on the hardware. They want to sell it and have people spending money in their ecosystem. They'll get their 30% from all the 3rd party games sales, which is the vast majority of the games.
Why put it on PC so steam can get the 30%? Makes no business sense.
Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2
@Mikey856 No
Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2
@TrickyDicky99 price is excellent for what you are getting, and you have no idea what the install base is or why EA aren't doing a psvr2 port.
Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2
@SBan83 why would Sony want to do that? They are making very little on the hardware, they'll make their money on software sales, mostly through the PS store(would imagine most game sales will be digital). They make it PC compatible and steam gets the money, Sony would only get a cut from 1st party games.
Would only make sense if Sony had a PC store and the games could only work through their launcher.
Re: After Transformative Gran Turismo 7 Update, F1 23 Will Not Support PSVR2
Would have actually bought day 1 if it had psvr2 support, something I've never done with an F1 game. Not too bothered though as GT7 is by far the best VR experience you can have and still has me hooked.
Don't think it's install base either as there are plenty of PC ports happening right now. Just think it's EA being EA.
Re: F1 23 Gameplay Flaunts Revamped Physics, Improved Handling, Red Flags, More
After the immersion of gt7 in VR I don't think I'll play any driving game flat screen again.
Re: 23 Games Hit PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week in Big Update
Another solid month for me, plenty I want to try there. And having a psvr2 game included is a really great addition, can't wait to try it.
Re: Xbox Boss Admits Microsoft Can't 'Outconsole' PS5
Re: Activision Poised to Pocket a Cool $3 Billion if Xbox Buyout Breaks Down
@SgtTruth I agree that playstation need to improve in cloud gaming.
Re: Activision Poised to Pocket a Cool $3 Billion if Xbox Buyout Breaks Down
@AverageGamer
Re: Activision Poised to Pocket a Cool $3 Billion if Xbox Buyout Breaks Down
@SgtTruth this deal wasn't blocked because of COD, it was blocked because of cloud gaming and them getting a monopoly!
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores?
I gave it a 9. Value for money alone was brilliant (around 20 hours for me). Really enjoyed the new area, some fun missions and new machines were a level up from the main game.
Looking forward to the 3rd installment, I really like Aloy's character and the journey she's been on. Wasn't a fan of the love interest at the end though, came out of left field and didn't feel earned. But that's just me.
Re: Elden Ring Dev's Next Big Thing Armored Core 6 Targets PS5, PS4 on 25th August
Graphics and world design look cool, but the mech action looked way to hyper for me personally. Think I'm too old school, but I like my mechs, big, slow and looking like they weigh 20 tonnes.

Do you have the split for the rest of dead island 2 sales?
