Yeah, it’s annoying but as a PS5 owner I never imagined I’d play the last gen version so there’s no problems here. Besides it’s not even released until early next year so by then there could be at least 5-10 more PS5s available and one of them might be yours. Merry Christmas folks, and a Happy 2022
Completed the game last night and currently trying to mop up the last collectibles but the game was frankly wonderful with a superb story, lovable characters and a seemingly unending slew of surprises and creativity. Just when I’d cemented one level as my favourite something else would come along and leave me grinnning and chuckling not to mention thinking that for a last gen game it didn’t ‘are look utterly gorgeous with some beautifully crafted levels and a Laika-esque quality to the look of the world and characters. Packed full of cool ideas and levels that consistently add more twists to a simple premise the story builds with emotion, genuine shock, twists and a satisfying payoff that left me more impressed than Rift Apart. After Returnal it’s easily my second favourite game of the year and one that I can’t recommend enough so I’ll just say buy it and bloody well play it, okay?
I’ve already got Hitman 3 which bundles the entire trilogy in one pack so I’m left with a crap ‘party’ game and a pathetic ‘online shooter’ that wastes a cinematic titan. Seems to be getting worse, lazier and more disappointing each month. Just give us some decent single player games, okay?
Personally I found the game rather delightful and one that got better as it progressed. Haven’t replayed it since the multitude of patches but a few wobbles aside I didn’t have any major issues and enjoyed the world building and the fact that even after completing the main campaign there were still things I’d totally missed. Yes, it’d have no doubt been better as a next gen title but despite all the predictably negative backlash (What doesn’t get ripped apart in this day and age?) it delivered a fun and creative package that entertained through to the finale and the Platinum …
I was so ready to restart and finally lose myself in this game after the two initial 2021 patches seemed to hint at big changes but a mixture of other games as well as the growing feeling I’d just be better off waiting for the PS5 update has me writing this mid August and knowing that I’ll definitely do the latter and just hope I don’t have to wait too long and even more titles take precedence. And to think back to November last year when my Day One PS5 arrived and the biggest game in my mind was last gen. such a shame as I really enjoyed the game narrative and there is definitely a good if not great game in there somewhere. It’s just been drowned amidst all the negativity, letdowns, glitches and last gen malarkey. Should have always have been a PS5 launch title as I’m sure even then there’d have still been teething issues …
Having spent way over 100 hours playing Returnal and frequently screaming at my TV screen I’d have to say it’s easily my personal favourite game of the year. Yes, it’s a tough ride and yes, I nearly gave up after a corrupted save threw me from the Abyssal Scar back to the beginning but after a short break I felt compelled to try again and a now back in the Abyssal Scar with the end in sight. No other game has compelled, excited, frustrated and motivated me as much this year and with its fantastic use of sound and haptic feedback that only serves to make the experience even better it’s a game that will definitely infuriate but is so rewarding as and when you finally pass the next hurdle. Can’t wait to see what Housemarque come out with next not to mention the street party I’ll no doubt throw when I complete the game. Everyone is excited but bring your own damn drinks, okay?
Played and Platinumed this a whole week ago and my trophies still aren’t registering. Possibly all wibbly wobbly times wimey stuff though I suspect it’s just Sony not registering them yet. Fun game, though, albeit short and easy but there was a welcome Life on Mars reference which raised a smile
I’ve got the Platinum for both PS4 and PS5 versions of Terminator but jeez, that was a crap game. Yes, if it’d been released in conjunction with the first film it’d no doubt have blown my mind but especially playing the so called Enhanced version I remembered how utterly bland and pathetic the whole thing was with terrible AI, awful character models and animation and gameplay so unimaginative and bland not even an army of Terminators could raise my pulse past nearly comatose! So I imagine this’ll be utterly terrible as well and ruin the potential of yet another classic film that could, in the right hands, make for a superb game. Dick, I’m very disappointed …
Save game corruption, eh? Well that’s another kick in the balls after I lost virtually all of my progress yesterday after a crash. Had literally just finished Fractured a wastes and felt so relieved to have done so then an hour or so later everything locked up, the save corrupted and despite trying everything (Yep, even the cloud save) I’m now right back to the Derelict Citadel. Utterly fed up, annoyed and various other things too offensive to post here so I’m putting the game aside, deleting it and playing something else for now. In summary I’m very, very disappointed 😞
Oh well, looks like they’ve lost themselves a potential player as I’d considered finally giving it a go with the upgrade but, like FV7, I’m not coughing up more money for an enhanced version no matter how good the game. Plus Doom Eternal is free from today so I’ll focus on that alongside finishing Fallen Order again …
Despite sinking 90 hours into it and still struggling with Fractured Wastes I chose Returnal simply because it plays so damn well, has incredible use of sound and haptic feedback and surely must be doing a lot right to keep me coming back for more after being mercilessly slaughtered time and time again.
Otherwise I’d have to choose Ratchet and Clank despite it only lasting a day before the Platinum. Nonetheless it looked utterly gorgeous and was a joy from start to finish.
As for third place I’d probably say Biomutant as, despite the criticism, I lived my time with the game and felt it truly did wonders at times with its exploration and world building. Hopefully the subsequent patches will lead to more people taking the plunge and picking up this little gem of a game.
Already played Days Gone and Zombie Army but the latter’s inclusion should hopefully boost the online community and give me more allies should I decide to dive back in. But Oddworld is great and bodes well for future PS Plus free PS5 games ...
From what I’ve played this far I’ve not had any of the issues mentioned just a somewhat random collection of moments when characters aren’t fully voiced. It’s probably more a design issue but seeing as how much style and gravitas the game receives from the voice acting it’s a bit distracting when everything suddenly goes quiet ...
I personally really enjoyed it and have got the Platinum twice now for both versions. It definitely plays better on PS5 and by Thor those load times are astoundingly fast compared to those never ending slow mode showcases and elevator rides. Granted, it’s a slight annoyance when a multiplayer game is slowed down by cross platform but I’ve had a tonne of fun online considering I generally avoid online multiplayer. Thor is definitely still the best character by far whilst Hulk is kinda ***** but Hawkeye is surprisingly cool and with Black Panther on the horizon I’ll definitely be playing more. Yes, it’s repetitive and grindy but focus on the positive and there’s definitely enough to entertain with an ace campaign and some great combat. As for the revamped XP decision I honestly didn’t feel it affected things much. If anything it meant I hit Hero 50 and Power 150 at around the same time whilst giving me time to test out each new move and thus learn characters more than when I was spamming 5-10 skill points I’d amassed without knowing!
Oh come on guys, this is just pathetic. Last straw? Broke camels back? Seriously, that’s an insult to camels. Yes, it may be a bit of a long winded procedure but it’s ultimately so easy even a hump or two can’t make it tricky. I just wish people would stop damning this game as, flaws aside, it’s really great fun but no, that wouldn’t be “cool” Like many before it it’s just more fodder for bored journalists and overpriveleged whiny kids to complain about. Just play the game or not. It’s really that simple. After all there’s plenty more out there if you don’t like it. So focus on them, be more positive and stop lambasting everything in the name of cheap click bait and numbers, numbers, numbers. Learn another language, read a book, plant a tree, buy a dog ... but no, other languages are too hard, books are too much effort, trees are really boring and the dog keeps crapping on the carpet. You really can’t please anyone these days, can you?
Okay, so it’s finally allowing me to download. Still said “unavailable” on the storefront but selecting it took me to download. Not sure whether you need to download the PS4 version for it to work but if you can’t still do it then I highly expect things to change very soon ... about time!
Anyone else now not getting “unavailable” but just the price? I’m not buying the damn thing again but it’s still not registering I’ve already got it. I’ve even downloaded the PS4 version in case it was needed but it looks like the two versions aren’t linked on the store so choosing which version I want does nothing but link to the demo! It’s just utterly stupid that it’s still an issue after so many similar update cock ups ...
Surely it’s a simple fix? Plus the amount of people affected by it is not good news for Sony. Fortunately now I have a PS5 all cross-gen games can be instantly bought but this is seriously annoying now as I’m eager to play through the game again yet see the word “unavailable” more frequently than my dating history ...
Been unable to get anything more than the ‘learn more’ tab which kindly informs me I already own the game! Yes, that’d be why I want to upgrade. Hopefully Activision won’t take long and I can finally download the PS5 version. It’s about bloody time ...
Having just nabbed the Platinum and really enjoying the game despite its flaws I’m personally really looking forward to replaying and ultimately furthering my play hours as future characters are added. Yes, the increased XP grind seems strange and the fact CD are suggesting players boost to 50 in preparation even stranger but I guess there’s nothing we can do so either don’t play the game or put up with the changes. Frankly there’s far more to worry myself with and having already got a Lvl 50 Iron Man and CapAm as well as a fully powered 150 All Father Thor build who, frankly, is incredible fun I’ll carry on where I left off with a cross save. Not sure whether trophies will auto pop though but I’m keen to replay the campaign again first as it was so good. Then I guess I’ll go from there ...
I’ve literally just finished replaying my old copy on PS5 and the slightly faster loading improves things. But considering how gorgeous Borderlands 3 looked on next gen I’d love some PS5 enhanced Telltale rereleases with this one top of the list. Awesome soundtrack too!
So if it’s Rosy (or Rosie) and we’ll apparently all be “feeling rosy very soon” then that’s one shocking development I never imagined! Isn’t this game meant for kids
I've been playing most of the day on PS5 and had about 4 crashes thus far though fortunately no lost save yet. Visually I wouldn't say I've had as horrendous issues as some say but the general textures and, in particular, the multitude of adverts in and around Night City have just lacked that real sharpness of other new gen games. Not seen too much pop in but up close said ads, especially, are frustrationly pixelated and kinda lo res. Especially annoying as there's so much to see, watch and revel in that, whilst far from the visual gloop of Bethesda games (Sorry, but they ARE damn ugly!) it lacks the PS5 oomph of, say, Miles Morales.
Yet it's undeniably a superb game underneath so I just pray CDPR will patch things out and eventually upgrade the PS5 version so I can play for more than a few hours without that bloody error code.
And no, I haven't had any previous crashes despite playing multiple games for multiple hours since launch day back in November ...
Thank God our broadband speed was recently updated as everything is now already downloaded on my PS5 ready to hit play at midnight tomorrow and no doubt spend hours creating my character only to fall asleep, wake up Thursday and decide I'm not happy with how I look and spend all morning redesigning another character. Might even get to play the game if I'm lucky ...
It's easily the most accessible, fun multiplayer add on I've played in recent memory plus it's one I'm actually pretty good at! Currently levelling up my Ronin after hours of Samurai mayhem leaves him at Lvl 45. Only downer is the lack of matchmaking in Raid mode plus the occasional idiot who either disconnects or fails to cooperate, rushes in and promptly gets killed time and time again! Anyhow, feel free to add me at SAMTYLER1974 if you need an ally and I'll bring my katana!
I'd still prefer the option to choose any picture as your avatar like you can already do to your profile picture. You can personalise your cover image and wallpaper so why not the whole lot?
Just completed the DLC this evening and it was a welcome addition to the main game, far bigger than I'd expected but, despite being entertaining, it felt a bit too relentless at times and some of the platforming bordered on the hideous. As for the new additions it'd be the spirits I hated most and I frequently found myself caught in a loop of tracking and killing a possessed demon only to watch as it leaped inside another beast whilst I was bounced around by innumerable foes as I flame belched and glory killed my way to just enough energy to try again. Ultimately I found myself dying more when I was trying to navigate some of the aforementioned platforming nightmares with audible sighs emenating as I reached the next checkpoint only to barrel straight into another overlong onslaught from Hell. Yes, this is what Doom is about but I found frustration creeping in far more than the main campaign. As for the bosses the sub boss that ends level 2 is bland, uninspiring and just stupidly drawn out after a level that already feels like you've just run the same gauntlet twice over and the final boss is suitably tough but again just goes on too long where the Icon of Sin felt just about right. Overall I'd definitely recommend it to fans of the main game but I struggle to think why anyone would buy it separately. Hopefully the second part will be worth the wait and hopefully iron out the flaws in this instalment. To be honest I don't think it will but hey, it's still a damn good game. Just feeling a little tired and hollow now it's finished and can't say I'm in a hurry to replay it!
Still going with RDR2. Got the 100% achievement and now dipping my toes into the online arena with a healthy handful of trophies. My posse is The Bone Tomahawks led by Snake Macready (Yep, that'll be 3 Kurt Russell references in one, folks!) so if anyone wants to join up and partake in some good old fashion rootin' tootin' shootin' then feel free as I'm still finding my feet, spending all my cash on dogs or horses and subsequently getting shot way too often!
Played the beta yesterday and gave up by mission 3. So so boring and everything feels ridiculously laggy. Granted, it looks pretty enough but the gameplay is uninspired, the combat lacking and everything just feels like a mishmash of stuff from far superior games. Really glad I didn't preorder it and currently looks like I'll skip it which, for a lifelong Marvel fan, is a crushing disappointment. Maybe time will let the game evolve into something better but right now even Spiderman can't tempt me back to this crushing borefest
Thanks, but I've already got the Platinum and fastidiously tracked down all collectables. Perhaps we could have even more photo mode options including more filters and maybe some borders and logos? Oh, and make it easier to choose thunder and actually get a lightening strike in shot as opposed to switching the animation on and off and praying to the Gods!
Probably back to RDR2 so I can spend endless hours revisiting the splendour of the Wild West and ignoring pretty much everything in favour of picking herbs, cooking and slaughtering the local wildlife. No game has yet reached the dizzy heights of the open world wonders and sheer amount of content offered outside of the main campaign and I find it strangely calming just to explore, interact and soak up the technical prowess of Rockstars masterpiece.
Also got the final boss in the Destroy All Humans remake to beat but she's still as unrelentingly difficult as ever so will probably leave that till the weather and my temper cool down somewhat!
Loved GoT and wish I could find more reason to replay it but I've got the Platinum and found everything and whilst I enjoyed it immensely I'm not finding an urge to go back to it yet. Same with TLoU2 which I Platinumed and played to death to the point that any incentive to replay is currently absent ...
Oh, and Cuphead but that'll require less sweaty hands and lots of practice. Great game though and gorgeous animation.
Have a good weekend however you spend it but try not to burn too many BBQs, especially if you live in Kent as my room already smells like a fire in an abattoir

599. It's as if my PS4 is mocking me with the promise of Gold. It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine ...
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 342
Re: Marvel's Avengers Rubs Salt in the Wound with Spider-Man Sticker on PS4 Box
Played the beta yesterday and gave up by mission 3. So so boring and everything feels ridiculously laggy. Granted, it looks pretty enough but the gameplay is uninspired, the combat lacking and everything just feels like a mishmash of stuff from far superior games. Really glad I didn't preorder it and currently looks like I'll skip it which, for a lifelong Marvel fan, is a crushing disappointment. Maybe time will let the game evolve into something better but right now even Spiderman can't tempt me back to this crushing borefest
Re: Ghost of Tsushima Patch 1.06 Buffs Traveller's Attire, Fixes Some Bugs
Thanks, but I've already got the Platinum and fastidiously tracked down all collectables. Perhaps we could have even more photo mode options including more filters and maybe some borders and logos? Oh, and make it easier to choose thunder and actually get a lightening strike in shot as opposed to switching the animation on and off and praying to the Gods!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 335
