Warner Bros. has been going through a tumultuous time, and its gaming division has certainly been through the wringer as part of that.
You may recall that several studios and projects from WB Games were shut down last year. Monolith Productions, which was making Wonder Woman, was closed and the game cancelled, while MultiVersus studio Player First Games and WB Games San Diego were also shuttered.
It was all part of a restructuring of the business to focus in on its major franchises, namely Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC, and Game of Thrones.
Well, it seems we'll be seeing some of these brands coming back to the gaming sphere in the not-too-distant future.
Speaking to Variety, JB Perrette, who heads up games at Warner Bros., says the next couple of years will see it bounce back with some big titles.
"The real fruits will start coming in in ’27-’28 when we return to some of our biggest franchises," he said, stopping short of saying what they are.
It's not too difficult to guess, however; with HBO's Harry Potter series on the way and Hogwarts Legacy having been a major hit, a sequel is a no-brainer.
Less clear is what's coming next from Rocksteady Studios, which took a big swing with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in 2024. Presumably, the team is working on something much safer now, and likely DC-related.
Perrette also highlights a couple of key games for this year with the highly anticipated LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, as well as a mobile game based on the Game of Thrones universe.

Don't get ur hopes high ppl knowing WB this is another live service bs
I just want Injustice 3.
Was just thinking about Arkham Knight and all it needs is a 60fps, upres patch, i'd even pay for an upgrade. (But not the whole game again) It still looks fantastic to this day.
Fingers crossed Rocksteady survives to make another classic.
Looney Tunes with classic hot lola.
So much planned.
Only to be cancelled when Paramount or Netflix buy them.
Including F.E.A.R., I assume?
I'll show WB some hog warts. Still curious about that Game of Thrones game, but not really.
Cannot abide Harry Potter and what's the point of doing anything if your about to sell up
@ButterySmooth30FPS. F.E.A.R remake yes please
I miss Batman games so much I would pay decent price for the entire Arkham saga running 4k@60 with HDR. It seems such an obvious way for them to make a quick buck to finance other projects, no idea why we haven’t gotten it yet. Here’s hoping!
I just hope next Rocksteady game is similar to Arkham Knight. That game is 10 years old and still blows most of the current-gen games out of water both in terms of how beatiful it looks and gameplay.
Can we get Arkham Origins on PlayStation, daddy Warner? No? Okay, then...
Hey, mommy Netflix...?
If they do another Hogwarts, I really hope they overhaul a lot of things. Exploring the castle itself was great, but the story and the characters were so weak. Needs a lot of work to make me care about them.
Still waiting for that Batman Beyond game we all want.
A decent Game of Thrones game PLEASE!
I agree, F.E.A.R 1 and 2 remakes please.
Seeing Westeros brought to life in a AAA video game would be hype, ngl.
@scottdevine48 Live-service 1v1vE 'battle royale' Looney Tunes game where 2 players have to Spy v. Spy each other in a massive map filled with a bunch of interactive NPCs, set-pieces, items, traps, vehicles, etc. Matches could take upwards of an hour, and would be filled with classic 'rabbit season, duck season'-esque antics as the 2 players try to outwit each other and gain the upper hand.
Lola can be hot in it, too — I don't care.
"Prepare for more Hogwarts." Prepare for the comments section...
Honestly would love to see NRS make a fighting game like Injustice but based on the recent DC KO comics
That story is pretty much the perfect setup for a fighting game.
Pump more Batman into my veins WB!!!
Injustice 3 I hope. Also Batman Arkham style game. I think Gunn said there would be games set in DCU? A Peacemaker game could be sick.
Everybody is dreaming of Suicide squad 2 and Gotham knights 2... Right?
But seriously, I'll take a new single player Arkham game any day.
Just release the nemesis system patent
I miss MultiVersus. If they didn't immediately put Player First Games to the guillotine before it even ended I'd hope for a proper release that isn't live service. Unless they're done chasing live service stuff, whatever's planned is probably gonna disappoint everyone.
I'm looking forward to the sequel of HL. I just hope they expand the RPG elements, let us bring companions to explore the game world, give us a morality system, and let us choose to be evil!
@jFug
Insider rumors is that Injustice 3 is NetherRealms next game.
@Divergent95 That’s basically exactly what I want out of a sequel to HL. Plus have Quidditch be in the game instead of pitched to a live service title. Something else I would say is to not lock the end of the game behind a ludicrous side quest barrier. I’d hope the story to be a bit better too and more enemy variety. It sounds like I’m being critical of the game, but honestly… a sequel could be a 10/10 game and I’d like to encourage them to jump the hurdles.
HL, even with its flaws, is one of the best games this generation. It’s the epitome of a solid 8/10 that is more fun than some games that are technically better than it. It did so well on the gameplay, level design, and atmosphere.
I genuinely wonder where they will go with the sequel. Would be sort of neat to start with an actual first year. Tricky thing with anything Harry Potter related is that you have to go back in time significantly to avoid risking conflict with existing lore.
