I'll admit, I picked this up. Entirely for the Easel portion. It's pretty cool, but ridiculously limited. Playing your own music is a bit of a chore, since the it requires all songs to be in a "Music" folder, or the app won't see them. The is okay. Nothing to write home about. $15 is more than it's worth. $10 might be okay, if you really love spacing out to music by yourself, or can't wait to draw/sculpt in VR. $5, or less, is the right price for an impulse buy. Definitely wait for a sale.
My PS3 was my bluray player. When I upgraded to the PS4, I kept using the PS3 while I waited for a true remote control for the PS4. I ended up picking up a standalone Bluray player, because I found a decent one that included 5.1 SACD playback, and didn't bother with the PS4 remote when it was finally released. If the Pro would have included a 4K Bluray drive, I would have started making plans to upgrade my TV and purchase a PS Pro, simply for the 4K Blu option.
That said, most of my watching is done by streaming. But, when it's a "family movie night", or something I really want to pay attention to and absorb, I automatically go for a disc. The quality difference between streaming (or, these days, cable, with it's ridiculous compression), and physical media is still too great to dismiss. A disc will give better video (by far), and much better audio.
I doubt I'll avoid the PS5 if it doesn't have the 4k Blu drive, but the Pro just isn't worth it to me without one.
@TomKnows I'm not talking about playing the same game on the same account simultaneously.
You've got multiple PS3s, so you know that you can play on one, while someone is playing on another that you have connected to your account, and they can access all of your purchases from their own login.
On the PS4 that is almost impossible. Anyone logging into the PS4 you've made your "Primary" has access to your purchases & PS+ benefits. However, on any other console, they do not, unless you are logged into that console at the same time.
So, you're playing on your "Primary", the kid's want to play something, well, you can't just send them to the other console. In your own house. That you've connected to your account. Nope. You have to stop using your primary PS4. Either swap rooms with the kids, or stop playing altogether, so that you can sign in to the second machine, so they can have access.
While the transferring seems simple enough, Sony is not making it as easy to have more than one PS4 in a household as it was with a PS3. There are ways, however, that they could avoid the abuse (that they initially supported, mind you) of enabling content on multiple Playstations simultaneously, without this annoying lockdown.
1 - Enable a Primary and a Secondary PS4 option, with both having the same rights. Everything else works as is. Not perfect, but makes life a lot better for a multi-user household.
2 - Enable full sharing rights over same local network. Solves multi-user household problems completely. Does allow for potential abuse from larger local networks, such as dorms. Could argue that it is within the spirit of the "Disc sharing" that Sony promoted so heavily.
3 - Combo of 1 & 2. Secondary console only has same rights if on same local network.
4 - Enable sub-accounts same access rights to games/apps/PS+ as parent account (allowing for parental controls, obviously). Makes sending the kids to play on the second console a lot easier, though the second adult/parent in the house still has issues. Not ideal, but better than nothing.
I tried Battlezone out at a Best Buy PSVR demo. It was the first time I had tried any of the modern VR options.
Right off the bat, while still on the system menus, I noticed the screen door/resolution issues. It was like looking through a dirty window, not the crisp, vibrant images on the big screen. And, yes, it continued to be a bit noticeable as the game started. By the time the tank got rolling on the Game Grid (Sorry. Couldn't resist.) it was a complete non-issue.
I don't, generally speaking, like FPS.
This game was fantastic!
Completely immersive, fun...anything negative I could say (granted, I only played one level) are only constructive nitpicks, mainly related to the cockpit presentation.
Battlezone sold me on picking up the game, and it sold me on keeping my PSVR pre-order.
@Mickael486 Never underestimate the psychological difference between seeing the main menu with the icon of whatever you were/are doing, and a calming blue screen of boring options. One begs questions, such as, "What is that game," or, "Are you actually listening to me, or just waiting to start your game." The other is an obvious indication that your have stopped what you were doing, and the blue screen adds a calming element that supports your interest in the other person.
Even if you're simply waiting for them to shut up and go away as quickly as possible.
Getting folders is nice and useful, but I'm not thrilled at the quick menu being changed to half screen. The full screen provided a very nice way to quickly (no pun intended) clear the screen, which is useful for a variety of reasons (kids walking into the room during an inappropriate sequence, etc). Would much prefer this to be an option, rather than the new reality.
Probably just bring the patent up to date so that they can make sure to collect the appropriate royalties from MS.
The only real change I'd like for the DS4 is for Sony to put the 2 part design into production. The Wiimote/Nunchuk setup is so comfortable! (aside from the wire)
I pay for Spotify, but rarely use it on my PS4. Lately, I've been thinking about moving over to Google Play Music, but, even though I rarely use Spotify on my PS$, I'm hesitant to give up the option. Too bad Sony isn't interested in offering a variety of service options.
And...there goes my instabuy. Still gonna grab the remaster/remake/moneygrab/whatever, because that first game was so unique and good. This, though, looks so...standard.
Just spit-balling here, but what if this rumoured compatibility was all about NX being compatible with PSVR, and possibly Sony PSVR games? Gives Sony an extra market for their new peripheral, gives Nintendo a VR option (seems to be the next big selling point) with no downside, gives gamers a choice.
Wait, definitely not happening, now that I typed those last three words.
I have to echo RawShark. There is simply no excuse for not being well versed in, at least, The Original Trilogy. A good working knowledge of the Prequels, is also needed. Familiarity of the basics of Clone Wars and Rebels would be good, but not mandatory.
In essence, Sir, you have three films to memorize, three more to know, or you lose your Geek Card. And you cannot write on a Video Game site without one.
I remember playing Multiplayer for Battlefront II a couple of times. It was an annoying experience. Singleplayer, on the other hand, was fantastic! One of the only shooters I've ever enjoyed, much less finished.
Hmmm. Don't like the layout as much as the PS3 remote, and it's missing the L & R buttons. I'm sure I'll pick it up, as long as it doesn't require a USB dongle, but I don't know if it will be as useful as the last gen. That PS3 remote was a godsend when playing vocals on Rock Band
Sony could absolutely do the exact same form of BC as MS is doing, and other than first party titles, all it requires is licensing and tweaking the PC versions of games.
Better parental controls (ability to hide/lock & approve network access levels for individual games) Ability to delete items from library (do I really need to see the demo for the game I ended up buying?) Folders Media support equal to PS3 Better support for Bluetooth devices (headphones, 3rd party remotes, mics, etc) Support for PS3 era fightsticks and steering wheels.
Not necessarily firmware... More space for Cloud Saves
And, finally, A PS4 remote (or the ability to pair a PS3 remote to a PS4, could be a firmware fix) Pink DS4 (only way I'm allowed to finally get a fourth controller)
But where's the pink controller? I'm not allowed to buy a fourth controller, unless it's a pink one for my daughter. I want that fourth controller, Sony!
@kyleforrester87 I could've seen Sony making it an E3 special occasion thing. It's more than 6 months after release, and it's not like they didn't already tick off just about every Plus member who ended up buying it, due to lack of the Plus Edition, already. Would've been one less thing for the devs to have to deal with, too.
Really surprised that they're still going through with this, instead of just putting the full game up on Plus. They must be very confidant that a large number of people will pay for the upgrade.
I agree completely! Between SingStar, LittleBigPlanet 3, and Disney Infinity 2.0 (Only for the kids. I swear!) I've got no space left, either. It's ridiculous.
I must say that I really despise when NG+ forces you into harder difficulty levels. Sometimes it's enjoyable to be able to stomp through a game you've already played at near max levels, from the start. It should always give you a choice, imo.
That's great news, as long as PS4 is the main development system, this time around. RB3 for PS3 was such a broken mess of a game, that I had to stop playing it, simply to not kill a third PS3! But, if Harmonix is willing to put some actual effort into software for Playstation, I'm more than happy to start giving them money again!
I'd like better controls for sub-accounts, such as the ability to choose what games appear in the sub's library, and the ability to approve online access on a game by game basis, rather than the all or nothing option available now.
I'd also like the messaging system to note when a message has been read at the server level. Very annoying to read a message on the PS App, have it unread on the PS4, then see a "new message" indicator when you fire up the PS3 a few days later, and still listed as an unread new message on the Vita.
@thedevilsjester I'm not talking about questions repeating during a play session. I played a couple of rounds the first night I downloaded the game. Three days later I played for a few hours with some friends, and had 5, or so, questions that I saw the first night. Played a week later with different friends, and had a huge amount of questions that had been seen in previous play sessions.
@chazaroonie Druckmann has explicitly said, in various interviews, that he wrote her as a lesbian, and that is how he intended the character to be. Far be it for me to determine why an adult writer would decide that a child character needed to have a sexual backstory, but I will find it interesting to see if, after he's made the point multiple times, he stands his ground on the issue.
They should really set it up to allow the user to import their own mp3s, at least for main acts. Use the unsigned bands the natural way, at 12:30pm, in an empty field, while the people walk past them to sit in front of the main stage waiting for a known band to come on.

Looks great. I'd be willing to spend the $15 if I could import the tables I already bought. There's no way I'm re-buying tables.
Re: Talking Point: Why Are Fall's Biggest Blockbusters Flopping?
Buggy games, high launch prices that drop fairly quickly, ridiculous amounts of paid DLC/season passes, non-innovative games.
