Sony's just attached a price and release date to PlayStation VR, but the big news doesn't stop there. Pointed out during the Japanese company's short media briefing, you'll actually be able to use the virtual reality headset as a personal screen for your PlayStation 4.
Although we don't have all the details just yet, Sony's said that you'll basically be able to play all of your PS4 titles on the device, which essentially means that PlayStation VR doubles as a television screen - albeit one that only you'll be able to see.
Okay, so it's not a particularly exciting feature, but it's certainly a thoughtful one. For example, PS4 owners who may not have the space for a large TV may find this so-called cinematic mode to be an incredibly handy substitute.
We'll be sure to update this article when we get some more concrete information, but until then, does this sound good to you? Strap yourself into the comments section below.

I wonder what games like Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and Firewatch will be like while wearing it. Oh and umm P.T. shudders
This is an incredible feature if you ask me! My wife's watching TV and I wanna play some Bloodborne?? No problem Playing on the WiiU Gamepad is a godsend for the same reason.
@LocalPenguin I agree, it's that one feature that tips me over the edge in favour of buying.
I actually REALLY appreciate this. After they abandoned support on their handheld I'm very reluctant to buy anything else from them it's not a home console.
This functionality ensures a certain level of value no matter what happens. This is definitely good news
@KratosMD I know right. @jaxonH It the nail on the head, this feature brings with it certain value.
This is hugely important, and finding out about this feature several months ago sold me on it.
"Not an exciting feature"!!!!!???? Being able to play any game (or watch porn with your folks in the same room??) with the headset, freeing up the tele, not relying on substandard vita controls OR hiding under the covers pretending your sleeping while playing Witcher 3. That feature in itself is worth £350!!!
So if someone new bought a PS4 for £300, and then this wired only headset for another £350, they can have the Off-TV Play functionality of the Wii U but wired and not wireless.
Until I see the games, and Sony not drop the marketing ball like they have done so many times before, this is a no no for me. It's cheaper to strap the Gamepad to my face instead of buying a PS Camera and Move Controllers, as well as the headset.
Not an incredible feature?? I've been saying this for months now, but this is huge!! All those nay-sayers that don't want gaming to change wouldn't believe me when I said that even for them it'll offer great value by giving us our own private home theatre! It'll project a virtual screen that only rappers have in their homes, so when the missus is watching her shows, this player's gonna shoot some s*ckers in their *ss while enjoying a 110" screen on his VR bad boy.
Okay, so maybe it is an exciting feature for some of you.
Weirdos.
When I original heard about this feature it became the selling point. Movies, fps games, racers with or without support, pt, outlast, etc. All would get an incredible amount of use from me. Now that it's been confirmed I'm really excited about it. Going to keep it from being a seldom used accessory imo, but they need to make sure they market this aspect as well as the vr stuff, because I think this could move just as many, if not more people to buy it.
I know that some people are complaining that you need the camera (which many people already own) and possibly move controllers (which many people already own--I have a set if I can find them under the ten inch thick pile of dust that's accrued on top of them), but I think this peripheral is an incredible value. This mode clinches it for me.
Does anyone know what size TV this looks like while wearing it? Obviously the distance people sit away from their TV has a huge impact on this, so it might be a tough question to answer, but I'm sure there's a number floating out there somewhere. Like "it looks like a 70" TV if you were sitting five feet away", etc.
@glassmusic Most people don't own move controllers at all. Especially since how useless they used to be.
@finalstan I third this. As a father of many the use of the TV is a valued commodity.
Not an exciting feature? This is a very exciting feature! Good bye telly! Hello movies and games lying down in bed!
Very happy, this was a must feature for me.

@ShogunRok Hey you're the weirdo here
@Riririn I said many, not most. There were many of us that were... stupid. Hahaha. I at least got mine on a Black Friday sale so they were half off.
@ShogunRok Netflix / BRs with total immersion. That alone makes it worth it for me. I'll be whipping out my Planet Earth set, that's for sure.
@BLPs quit being so negative, bro. Would you rather this not be a feature?
I wonder what type of panel the screen is..Cheapo tn panel probably..even if its good quality - Surely a screen 2 inches in front of the eyes must make them a bit hurty? i don't like the sound of it,although i've still got 1 eye on my piggy bank now tbh.
@ShogunRok So where's all the updates, you've had like 3 more PSVR articles since this one.
@glassmusic If you're watching porn you can whip out...oh never mind.
I use remote play a lot on my Xperia Z3, I can use the D4 with it so no dodgy mapping like the vita. To be able to remote play using this headset only stands to improve my gaming experience by immersing me more in whatever game I'm playing or movie I'm watching. This for me is a brilliant addition to an already impressive piece of kit
I was hoping for something along these lines, it'll be perfect for some late night Rocket League whilst the Mrs watches whatever rubbish she likes on tv 😃.
I'll finally be able to play as much as I want without taking up the TV.
This is a really great feature I am suprised more is not being made of this. This could be a huge selling point.
@LocalPenguin
Exactly.... She may have married a cyborg... But he's a happy cyborg...
This feature is great (If I don't vomit everywhere). I know it is not true VR for existing games but it might make old games worth a new playthrough and it means I can do so while my other half watches TV.
Admittedly, I may look like a tool while I do so.
To add to that, it's an OLED screen, I like those. Also, I assume you will be able to adjust the size of the theatre screen to emulate distance?
I wonder what screen sizes will be available for the cinematic mode, 120 inches or a IMAX sized screen? and will it be compatible with the PS4 media player?... Hopefully they will have virtual rooms available of different sizes, colors and design themes with varying screen sizes and customizable options available. A Home Cinema VR space and a larger public Cinema VR space.
But, will it do 3D for movies (3D bluray, Netflix, etc)?
@Longaway That's actually a really good question...
@ShogunRok im down for gundsm breaker 3 in VR lol
Ohbheck yea i was hoping for this!!!!! Sweetness! ! !
This is a great idea if VR will act as a Screen for ordinary PS4 games, but Sony makes big preparation fo ps vr games, here are 17 vr games in this list you can see videos: http://www.hotplay.com.ua/publ/samye_ozhidaemye_igry_dlja_playstation_vr_psvr_v_2016_godu/1-1-0-789
