Re: PS5 Gets a Quality Animal Crossing Alternative Next Week

Kienda

Buying this for my daughter and she will love it.

However, I’m absolutely shocked this game doesn’t have cross play, especially as it’s also available on mobile.

It means kids can’t play together if one has on switch and the other on tablet. Or whatever. How dumb.

Re: Tencent's Take on Horizon Would Have Taken Aloy to Asia

Kienda

I repeat here, that 16 minutes of gameplay looks nothing like Horizon.

Just watch it and the similarities disappear very quickly.

I think it’s right for Sony to protect their IP, but outside of changing some mobs skins, that’s all Tencent needs to do to avoid this lawsuit.

Re: UK Citizens Using Death Stranding 2 on PS5 to Bypass Porn Blocks

Kienda

@DennisReynolds I would argue the UK is doing the opposite in educating children.

We teach children about sex at the age of five onwards, and that cap is being removed by the government this month to make it so any child can learn. It’s far too young.

The UK has the lowest age for teaching about sex and the highest number of teenage pregnancies in Western Europe.

Italy has no mandatory sex education in schools and it seen as taboo by many. And it has the lowest teenage pregnancy rate in Western Europe (4x less than the UK).

The two are a correlation.

I’m not saying children shouldn’t be taught sex education. But when you hand out free condoms to minors and tell them to experiment. They will. And it is absolutely bonkers in my opinion.

Re: Random: Stellar Blade Dev Gives Insane Anatomically Accurate Explanation of Why Butts Are Beautiful

Kienda

@Futureshark

Pearl Clutching or Clutching at Pearls is when someone makes a big deal out of something they don’t like and over exaggerate to try and make other people take notice.

It’s like in movies when a woman overreacts to some news grabbing her pearl necklace, putting her head against her head, and pretending to faint.

Basically, most people are just ‘meh’ about topics, and because we won’t listen to them, they over exaggerate and make mountains out of molehills (a big deal out of a small subject) in order to try and win people over to their point of view.

There are lots of phrases like pearl clutching, self righteous, on their high horse, on their soap box, or whatever other phrase you like to use to describe it.

Re: SEGA's Accidentally Outed Sales Numbers Put a Lot into Context

Kienda

@Jacko11 there is no need to be mean. Half the comments on here are speculation based on personal perspectives and limited knowledge (mainly because the information is not readily available so people have to speculate).

So, there is no need to mock someone just because they got something wrong about a language they don’t speak. You could have corrected in a nicer way.

@Thrussted don’t let them bring you down.

Re: Minecraft Will Soon Look Better Than Ever on PS5, PS4

Kienda

@GirlVersusGame thanks for the idea. This game would be perfect for listening to an audio book to whilst in creative.

@Anya-chan yeah, kids can help you appreciate games you didn’t know you’d like. And always having a coop partner is fun. Their existence though means your game time is severely limited. Their love makes up for that though… I guess… 😅

Re: Minecraft Will Soon Look Better Than Ever on PS5, PS4

Kienda

@Anya-chan the game is fun, and it is what you make it. The first time I played it I didn’t get it. Then I had children and it was they who helped me finally understand.

When my children were younger it was all about Creative. No danger, unlimited resources and we would build fun things together and role play.

Now they are older we mostly play Survival. So we are fighting mobs, eating to survive, building bases, finding resources and so forth. And laughing and screaming at each other whenever we get overwhelmed (yeah, we are noobs).

It’s a great creative game that can either be relaxing and creating things or survival/adventure. It offers a lot.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds' Huge Title Update 2 Confirmed for End of June

Kienda

I’m fresh into Monster Hunter Wilds and this is the first time playing a Monster Hunter game when it is still receiving regular updates. Makes it more fun.

On the Layered Weapon thing. I had to Google it. It would be nice if there was a globally recognised word for it, like ‘Transmog’ or something. Because each game seems to have a different phrase. It’s a good addition though.

Re: Everyone's Talking About Body Horror Game ILL for PS5, Apparently

Kienda

@Weebleman I still don’t think you get what I’m saying.

I’m not complaining that gore is shown. I’ve been watching these shows for years. It’s a part of it, I get it.

All I’m saying is. It would be great for families to have options. And as a family that watches, just every trailer having a warning.

We watched on a 10 minute delay. I skipped ILL and a few others, but if it was a short trailer they just covered their eyes. My wife included. This even included simple horror like Code Vein 2.

I accept that the warnings covered the bases. Nothing illegal happened. I’m just saying it’s a shame that EVERY game presentation, whether it is Sony, Microsoft or whatever ALWAYS has high levels of gore and horror in their shows.

If you don’t have kids, it’s not a bother. But as a family of gamers, who is excited to see the new games, it’s just something we have to juggle and it could be made easier.

Re: Everyone's Talking About Body Horror Game ILL for PS5, Apparently

Kienda

@Weebleman I don’t let my kids watch it. We watch late, skip bad stuff etc.

Anyways, you’re missing the point. Even as adults, this stuff is extreme. Far more extreme than most people can handle.

I still think they could tone it down a bit for the trailers. Because you have kid friendly stuff next to real graphic stuff.

It’s one of the quirks of gaming. The gaming community shuns nudity. But has no problem with extreme gore. Why not be balanced about both?

That’s all I’m trying to say. And I still think warnings before each trailer would be helpful as someone who watches with family. Or maybe they could do a PG edit for us to watch after.

It doesn’t matter what boxes they tick. There is always way to do things better to suit all audiences.

Re: Everyone's Talking About Body Horror Game ILL for PS5, Apparently

Kienda

@Mordath17 I get that.

But for any casual viewer, the gore and horror in games is not regular. It is extreme.

Horror movies do not show the level of gore in their trailers. Especially not during awards shows or things that are for general audiences. Yet in the gaming world it is on full display and unfiltered.

Every 18+ trailer should just have a little warning before each one so when a family like mine is watching, we can skip it or tell the kids to cover their eyes.

There are certain things like this in gaming that can be improved. Just because we like games doesn’t mean we all want 18+/R rated content at every event.

Any child watching this would be traumatised. And yet, they are showing the latest Lego and Sonic trailers for kids at the show whilst then showing gore that even movies don’t include.

It’s not normal. But we have normalised things in gaming that are, in my opinion, not healthy.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 584

Kienda

I will finally complete Final Fantasy 16.

My PS5 says I’m on 97% of the story. I have finished all side quests, finished all the hunts (thanks for the location guide Push Square) and have soaked in enough of the world to say I’m ready to finish it.

So I will wait for the kids to fall asleep, pour myself a glass of wine, and enjoy the ending.

Other than that. Monster Hunter Wilds.

Re: Everyone's Talking About Body Horror Game ILL for PS5, Apparently

Kienda

I think they need warnings when showing trailers for games like this. My son had to cover his eyes for half the show, but we didn’t know when the and trailers were going to be so it was a bit hit and miss as to what he saw. Hehe.

I’m not sure a game like this is healthy for anyone to play. But the animations and enemy designs are next level though.

It actually piqued my interest and I hate horror.

Re: Sword of the Sea Looks Like a True Journey Successor, Surfs to PS5 in August

Kienda

This game looks amazing.

Journey was the first game I played on PS4 (I was late to the party) and I remember running into another player and ending up completing the whole game with them on my first play through and it felt so unique and magical.

I have loved all of their games since that time. And this game looks just as magical.

Also, it’s day one on PS Plus. Which is amazing.

Re: Astro Bot Is Getting Even More Free DLC Challenge Levels Next Month on PS5

Kienda

Astrobot and Team Asobi can do no wrong in my eyes.

They have been one of the standout examples of what makes gaming great and have injected some much needed joy into gaming this generation.

The free ‘demo’ (full game imho) was many people’s first experience of Astro. Then they blew us all away with their GotY game, and they just keep giving us stuff for free.

Others (Nintendo) could really learn from them.
