@LordSteev I think you've hit the nail on the head with some games having a "soul". Adds to the enjoyment massively for me and cyberpunk 77 has more soul than Lionel Ritchie haha. Anyways Happy gaming friend, hope it goes well for you and have a good Christmas if you celebrate it.
@LordSteev well said. This isn't a big deal to me. Valhalla came out kinda buggy and I love that game, especially now its been patched, and Ubi/acti/EA have much less of an excuse (I still don't have a period all over myself about it mind you). Fact is, CDPR, as far as I'm aware, have only released one other major title in the witcher 3. Which also had some issues at launch. So. Many. Other games did too. Skyrim, unity, NMS, Andromeda even rdr 2 had some dodgy ones at launch. If you remember gta san andreas, that whole game shipped broken. You'd be driving along and dissappear through the road or something. Still a great game and has never been patched at least on ps2. Some say cyberpunk is unplayable, before 1.04 perhaps they had a point, but I sank 34 hours into it this weekend alone. That's not an unplayable game objectively speaking. It's everything I wanted out of this genre. I'm obviously not saying it's perfect or even runs well. But I've seen a LOT worse from MUCH richer studios and publishers. The game is great, its dripping with clear adoration for the genre; deckard-esque pistols and Kaneda's bike from Akira, bassy, synthy soundtrack, not just on the car radio but during gameplay, meaty, well written side quests. Ah f*** me it's great if a little rough around the edges. And I play on base ps4 too. Anyway don't believe the hate or the baby boys throwing their toys around. This is already great and will only get better with time. A lot like one of it's key inspirations Blade Runner.
Fix the stick drift by changing the deadzone settings in controls. Turning off film grain, chromatic abberation, motion blur and even depth of field helps the graphical issues slightly. I usually turn the first 3 off on every game I can. I've gone to the point of modding film grain out of games before. Looks crap in my opinion. C2077 Was playable (and great at that!) but butt ugly for me on base ps4. Should have got it on pc but wanted trophies like the sad little trophy whore I am. Nevermind let's see if this patch helps things.
The difficulty in souls games didn't really bother me too much. It's the ps2 era unskippable cutscenes (yaaaaaaaawn) I couldn't stomach. Wasn't a test of skill then, was a test of patience. A virtue, yes, but not one I hold.
@ShogunRok you can't say this isn't a problem, you're a professional, I respect that. But I can. This is dumb and definitely not a problem. Still obviously going to be buying one as soon as fiscally (and physically) possible. Honestly don't understand why it's even an issue. Whenever my consoles/pcs make noise I just turn the volume up on the monitor/tv/headphones? Drowns it right out. Maybe I'm missing something but the solution has always been pretty apparent to me.
I haven't posted anything in ages but I'd just like to say that the new face is indeed crap and a monumentally foolish design choice. I'd say I feel bad for insulting the guy's face but if you could see my ugly mug you'd understand. Yes, death threats are stupid, but so are people. Something so high profile like this and tlou 2 it's bound to happen. Always has. We have some stupid soap opera called eastenders here in the UK right? Yeh, well in real life in the 90s people were going up to the actors in the street and hurling real death threats to their face. Yes, Internet hate is dumb but it's nothing new. It's just carried over from the real world. Don't worry though; most people don't give a damn.
@JoeBlogs just ignore him. He wants to feel big because he has a pc and no one in the real world cares. Real gamers respect all platforms anyway. I don't own a Switch, for example, but I'll happily admit that breath of the wild (and others) looks bloody excellent. DayZ on the other hand is one bullet I'm glad I dodged!
Good news, like the article says its a small detail but it's a big deal for me. Played Shadow of War a while back and while the game itself was fine, seeing him revert to default armour every cutscene was a huge immersion breaker.
I'm fine with a later release date. I'd rather wait for a finished product than get an unfinished, buggy mess. A lot of games in recent years have failed badly because they were rushed and broken on release and I'd hate to see cyberpunk go the same way. This way CDPR still have plenty of time to iron out the bugs (maybe, just maybe add a fallout/gtav style 3rd person mode so I can see all my cool stuff) and hopefully it'll be another masterpiece that we can get lost in for a while.
@ShogunRok thanks that is very helpful. Hmm I'm thinking days gone, seems like more of a complete package for the full £40/50. Besides Doom Eternal is out later this year (and wolfenstein) so I'll be well stocked for shooters. Thanks again for the quick reply and push square is my top gaming site, keep up the great work!
One more thing: not buying a game you want because it uses a lot of memory is only hurting yourself. No matter how well optimised it is, a big game uses big memory. Everything worth having has a price.
I fully recommend investing in an external hdd. It's not expensive and made my collection a lot easier to manage. You could get an external ssd I suppose for extra speed but not sure about compatibility, plus ssds are usually pretty small. That brings me on to my next point, Sony confirmed ps5 will have an ssd but if you look at ssds they are very expensive for anything above 750gb or so. Does anyone know the size of the ssd going in the ps5?
@rjejr don't worry you have the gift of hindsight. Just don't get cocky and finish the big lump off before he can smash your head "LIKE THIS!" - splat-
Fully on board for this one if it turns out true. I've been really impressed by the new format Creed. Loved Skyrim, God of War and most things Norse really so this is good news.
Definitely a reptile. Games are great. They were the single greatest thing about being a kid for me. When I was out as a youngster doing social things I nearly ended up in prison and playing games helped me chill out and turn it around. Not a sob story there by the way, I regret nothing.
In fairness most games do have an easy mode and occasionally I will resort to it. If its optional what's the harm though really? When I start a game I just ignore the difficulty options and go and if it's too hard/easy I change it.
@JoeBlogs your not wrong there buddy, I love gaming I really do but I have to squeeze a life in there and do a job so yeah it's basically impossible for a semi responsible adult like myself to play everything. Dmc 5 is what appeals to me most this month as, while I do enjoy "souls" games like Sekiro. They are a special kind of brutal that I have to be in the right mood for whereas I'm always up for some flashy, over the top, letter graded combos. Screw it I'll vote dmc why not.
I'm yet to play any of the above so I won't vote on this one but I am pleased that dmc 5 is good and I'll probably pick it up alongside Days Gone when pay day comes around.
@Salt_AU that's your opinion chief and your entitled to it. That being said the witcher 3 set the bench mark of what large open world action games should be going forward, was extremely popular with critics and fans and sold a butt load of copies. So overwhelming evidence is that, objectively speaking, it really was pretty good... Kid.
I love this idea. It's quite common in pcrpgs and it's good to see it making the transition into aaa games. Very pumped for cyberpunk it looks fresh and unique.
It's a great time to be a gamer. Especially if you have a ps4. My top 3 this gen are probably horizon zero dawn, god of war and uncharted 4. Honorable mentions to the webslinger.
I won't complain as they are free games. Recently the selection's been pretty good so I can live with a "meh" month. I'll probably try them. At least conan as I'm a fan of the movie (not the second one lol).
@ILoveVideoGames ah nice one, I did the ezio collection a little while back. Loved ac 2 as much as I did when it was new, Ezio Auditore Di Firenze is a true legend of gaming even though I did start to fatigue pretty hard by the time I got to revelations. Still I'm glad to have it in the collection. Have you tried the side scrollers? I've not myself but my girlfriend is a fan of them. The China one looks quite cool artwise.
@ILoveVideoGames wow that is a very good price! I paid full price on release + season pass and to be fair I don't regret it. I'm 120 hours or so in and I haven't even finished the main game yet and I'm not bored either. A great game by my standards.
I think this is a fair review. I remember it being good but not quite great. Ac3 alone is quite a large game and with liberation bundled in (I haven't played that one yet) it's a bargain. Especially if you got it as part of the odyssey season pass which is already excellent value. With the likes of EA and Activision essentially being complete turd burgers to their customers its nice to see other developers being fair with their games. I'll happily spend money on something that's worth it.
For me it faces the same problem as "games as a service" in itself does; It just lacks character. I get they are trying to play it safe but if your going to try and break into the console market you may as well whack your balls out on the table and make a statement. Stadia is a terrible name. Sounds like a stripper with bullet wounds and missing teeth (my kinda gal but still a poo name). Time will tell but it'll have to be excellent value to receive money from this particular tight fisted scrimper.
Hahaha what a list!! 😂 Crossplay's not something I'm overly bothered about as I, personally, don't really play online. I do, however, appreciate a clever idea so it would be nice to see one of the cods or gta onlines of the future have some form of Sony vs Microsoft mayhem. I feel we all know who would win that battle. Just like this console generation.. So do I drop the microphone now or?....
Ooh she's got potential alright. Could end up being awful, of course, but the standard of games at the minute is properly excellent. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one.
@JLPick ah man I completely forgot Lair even existed, honestly I was a bit worried for the ps3's future after that one! That's a good memory you got there pal.
@Ackbar7 that's a very good point, some older and slightly forgotten franchises have nothing to lose and everything to gain. If an outside studio makes a crappy sequel to an old IP then Sony take way less heat for it but if it does well then everyone's a winner right?
Ah the gift that keeps on giving. I keep coming back to Odyssey. This time of year post Christmas, ps store and steam sales I'm absolutely rammed with games in my libraries but ancient Greece keeps calling me back. Its a hell of a game. Varied, addictive and, in my honest opinion, the game of 2018 against some majorly stiff competition. It's longer than spidey, more varied then GOW and, honestly, more fun than rdr 2. I'm not saying those 3 masterpieces are bad in any way, shape or form. The only one I'm still playing, however, is the mighty odyssey. Credit to Ubisoft for their attitude towards their customers and for creating a brilliant, vibrant and believable world that I for one will be enjoying for months to come.
@Flaming_Kaiser yeah spot on mate! Haha. I’d rather wait a bit longer for a properly polished and smooth game rather than deal with massive issues on release. A few bugs here and there, especially in large open-worlders is fine and to be expected but there should be no excuse for game breakers. And when I say a bit longer I mean a bit not years -cough- square enix -cough-..
@Cordeceps yeah it’ll be fine. Is e3 really all that relevant these days? The vast majority of reveals this year most people already knew about or were disappointing. Big games receive massive amounts of coverage without needing a stage show. If anything, compared to online exposure it’s pretty much worthless.
@playstation1995 haha nice one! I had a Genesis too but it was called a megadrive here in UK. I’m still not sure why to be honest! I had to wait til ‘97 for my ps1 me and my brother got it for Christmas with final fantasy vii, heart of darkness, v rally and wwf war-zone. Ah the good old days.
I got my first ps4 a couple months after release when the library had built up a little, loved it to bits but had to sell it because it was still worth a fair bit second hand at the time and I needed a car for work. So after about another year of graft, the Witcher 3 releasing and not being able to play it and many, many tears I forked out for another one and I never looked back. I, like quite a few others on here, have seen many home consoles come and go and I can honestly say, for overall quality, ps4 is my favourite. Just so many grade A titles. I’m physically sat looking at them in front of me all alphabetised and blue. What a time to be alive.
Very well deserved in my opinion, I’ve always been a Sony fan ever since my mum gave me her old Walkman back in ‘92 so maybe I’m a tad biased but who cares? Ps4, it has been an absolute pleasure. I prefer it to my pc and that little beasty is no slouch. I, on the other hand, am a slouch so it makes sense I prefer nice, sofa bound console gaming. On a serious note the first party releases on PS4 have been wall to wall quality since release and the free games from ps plus have been things I actually want (mostly). Sony for life, thanks for everything you buncha legends ya.
Well done Ubisoft. It’s good to see developers listening to fans and improving their product. I was going to wait until I completed rdr 2 to return to Ancient Greece but this news may just mean I’m firing up the creed when I get back tonight. Ah I’m spoilt for choice at the moment! What a nice problem to have eh?
@Flaming_Kaiser I agree. My job has a quality control department and if I was cracking out the shoddy quality of work that Bethesda do then I’d have been sacked years ago. And your right about the scores too, if I see a zero or a ten I tend to ignore the user review and look for something more realistic. That’s not to say I’ve never got carried away and rated something as perfect when in reality it has flaws but hey I’m only human! All I’m saying is I’m not ready to completely write off Bethesda games in the future. Hopefully they will take note of this recent negativity and step up their game going forward.
I haven’t played or reviewed it myself but I’m not surprised people are whacking zeroes on it. I think it’s fair to say the majority of the fanbase has been pretty vocal about their disinterest in an online focused fallout/elder scrolls. Why mess with what works? Bethesda really had to nail this one to win people over and by the sound of things they failed. Maybe they should just take it as lesson learned and stick to what they’re good at. My view on Bethesda as a company hasn’t changed, I still like them I just probably will give 76 a miss.
@NoxAeturnus yeah I hate that stupid, semi-real time/semi-automated, single button bashing nonsense as well. Many people hate on ff12 but at least they tried to incorporate the original battle system with a bit more freedom. Personally I liked ff12 and would of preferred 13 and 15 if they’d just expanded on 12’s systems.
Not trying to be a downer here but I lost interest in this quite a while ago. It didn’t help that I was very unimpressed with XV and XIII. Must be ten years worth of hype for what? It’s not like square Enix has proved recently that their games are worth waiting for. I understand that it’s a delicate thing to remake something so beloved but seriously they need to get a shifty on. FfVII came with my original psx bundle and I still play through it every year (pretty much) coz I’m a sad bastard and that’s just me but this is taking the biscuit. Hopefully I’ll be wrong and it’ll be great but I’m not hopeful. This remake are very sick, it seems.

Big games receive massive amounts of coverage without needing a stage show. If anything, compared to online exposure it’s pretty much worthless.
Re: After Five Years, PS4 Has Sold Over 86 Million Units Worldwide
@playstation1995 haha nice one! I had a Genesis too but it was called a megadrive here in UK. I’m still not sure why to be honest! I had to wait til ‘97 for my ps1 me and my brother got it for Christmas with final fantasy vii, heart of darkness, v rally and wwf war-zone. Ah the good old days.
Re: PS4 Celebrates Its Fifth Anniversary Today
I got my first ps4 a couple months after release when the library had built up a little, loved it to bits but had to sell it because it was still worth a fair bit second hand at the time and I needed a car for work. So after about another year of graft, the Witcher 3 releasing and not being able to play it and many, many tears I forked out for another one and I never looked back. I, like quite a few others on here, have seen many home consoles come and go and I can honestly say, for overall quality, ps4 is my favourite. Just so many grade A titles. I’m physically sat looking at them in front of me all alphabetised and blue. What a time to be alive.
Re: After Five Years, PS4 Has Sold Over 86 Million Units Worldwide
Re: Retro Shooter Blazing Chrome Guns Down a PS4 Release in 2019
Yeah I’m in. I loved metal slug in the arcades when I was a kid even though I rarely passed the second level. Feels like a looong time ago now...
Re: Huge Assassin's Creed Odyssey PS4 Patch 1.07 Increases Level Cap, Adds Gear Customisation, New Quest, and More
Well done Ubisoft. It’s good to see developers listening to fans and improving their product. I was going to wait until I completed rdr 2 to return to Ancient Greece but this news may just mean I’m firing up the creed when I get back tonight. Ah I’m spoilt for choice at the moment! What a nice problem to have eh?
Re: Fallout 76 Is Getting Review Bombed by Irritated Fans
@Flaming_Kaiser I agree. My job has a quality control department and if I was cracking out the shoddy quality of work that Bethesda do then I’d have been sacked years ago. And your right about the scores too, if I see a zero or a ten I tend to ignore the user review and look for something more realistic. That’s not to say I’ve never got carried away and rated something as perfect when in reality it has flaws but hey I’m only human! All I’m saying is I’m not ready to completely write off Bethesda games in the future. Hopefully they will take note of this recent negativity and step up their game going forward.
Re: Fallout 76 Is Getting Review Bombed by Irritated Fans
I haven’t played or reviewed it myself but I’m not surprised people are whacking zeroes on it. I think it’s fair to say the majority of the fanbase has been pretty vocal about their disinterest in an online focused fallout/elder scrolls. Why mess with what works? Bethesda really had to nail this one to win people over and by the sound of things they failed. Maybe they should just take it as lesson learned and stick to what they’re good at. My view on Bethesda as a company hasn’t changed, I still like them I just probably will give 76 a miss.
Re: Square Enix Thinking About Ideas Regarding Final Fantasy VII Remake's Release
Re: Square Enix Thinking About Ideas Regarding Final Fantasy VII Remake's Release
@Turismo4GT agreed. Remember when we were all hyped about it coming to ps3? Now if it comes out at all I’ll be surprised.
Re: Square Enix Thinking About Ideas Regarding Final Fantasy VII Remake's Release
