Re: GamesCom 2013: Unbelievably, PS4 Pre-Orders Are Ahead of the PS2 and PS3

Hokage17

It comes as no surprise here. The PS4 is a fine console, well built, good price, best games, etc. All that makes it easy to pick one up. Any gamer that's looking for the best bang for your buck would choose PS4 hands down. I'll admit that Xbox One has a nice looking launch, but Sony kills them with 1st party exclusives and if you don't like what's been shown thus far then you already know it's coming.

Re: GamesCom 2013: You'll Be Able to Buy a PS4 from 15th November in North America

Hokage17

Sony would be so much better off if they weren't supporting 3 different platforms. To be honest sometimes I wish they could just ditch the PS3 and Vita and put all the focus on PS4 and truly take us into the next gen. Sometimes with Sony I feel like they're trying to move into the future but are still clinging to the past trying to provide support for everyone. That sounds noble and all, but when you have a hot new product you should be going in for the kill. Mark my words, that is Sony's biggest weakness right now.

Re: GamesCom 2013: Sony Slashes Vita's Price to $199/€199

Hokage17

If nothing else from Sony's conference I walked away impressed with the Vita. It was nice to see the remote play in action for a change rather than just talking about the potential. Now that people have witnessed it, it's easier to believe. Some people may not like it, but the Vita does seem like a natural home for Indies and it's a more ideal fit than on mobile. That alone may still not be enough to justify the $200 price tag, but if nothing else I think anyone who buys a PS4 may eventually want to buy a Vita. I think in terms of sales with the Vita we are going to see a slow, steady, and gradual improvement over time.

Re: Sounds Like Sony May Be Taking the TV, TV, TV Track, Too

Hokage17

It just amazes me how Sony has picked Microsoft apart at almost every turn. After E3 Sony for the most part has been mum, but the way Microsoft has gone about changing policies and features to even the playing field, you would think Sony has been on the offensive. Now with this new development of Sony's TV service which to me at least sounds more promising than what the competition is offering, Xbox One has lost their main selling point because the truth is they really can't compete with Sony in this category as they have been a juggernaut on the entertainment scene for years.

The only advantage Xbox One has in this area is the motion controls with the Kinect, but they just rcently announced that it is no longer required for Xbox one to function. Which makes the extra $100 cost of the console unnecessary for most people. Now as we roll into Gamescom Microsoft is in a very similar situation as they were going into E3, needing to explain they're actions ( which they completely ignored btw ) While Sony on the other hand is free to just drop bombs.

What will be interesting to see at Gamescom, is if Sony will take another jab at Microsofts policy changes similar to how they did at E3 to twist the Knife even further. It may sound a bit like bullying but Microsoft has made it so easy it may be hard to resist.

Re: Feature: Eight PS4 Titles That Are Changing the Game

Hokage17

Actually merging single player with multiplayer in a racing game was done on Real Racing 3 on ipad and I must say it's quite awsome. I bet it will be executed much better on PS4 with Drive Club so I'm really excited to try it out. It's also cool that it comes with Playstation + though not the full game but still it's a great deal. The game I want most of all though is Watch Dogs. I'm born and raised in the city of Chicago so the game is a must have for me.

Re: First Image of North American 12GB PS3 Super Slim Emerges

Hokage17

I guess 12GB isn't so unusual, 360 has one with 4GB and the Wii U is supposedly a next gen console and only has options of 8 and 32. I agree though that $200 is too much for a measly 12 GB's. It's almost like these console manufactures doesn't realize just how much people factor in hard drive space when looking at price.

As sad as it is to say I believe it all started with ipod and iphone. In the beginning 8 GB seemed like a lot, until your music library grew and you started to realize 8 GB is really nothing at all. Years later when you through in apps, movies, games and music altogether even 64GB is starting to look like childs play. It looks even worse on a console that is meant to be the entertainment hub for your living room, but hey it worked for the 360 which in my opinion is the biggest reason it sold as good as it did; because it kept the price noticeably lower than PS3.

Re: Talking Point: Could PS4 Streaming Impact Native Vita Development?

Hokage17

After being on the market for over 2 years now and having only sold 2.5 million units it's safe to say that it's already failed to meet expectations. Like the Wii U, the Vita has sort of missed it's opportuntity to catch on with consumers. Sony is counting on remote play with PS4 to be their trump card in a last ditch effort to make the Vita appealing and bring some new life to the device.

They have a uphill battle ahead being so far behind in the race, you could even say the Vita is in last place depending on how you view it. What I think would help drive sales of the Vita is a obvious price drop as well as a possible bundle with PS4. Just my opinion but I think Sony has done a poor job marketing the Vita and besides the lack of games I think marketing is the biggest issue.

Re: Feature: Do You Remember These PlayStation Branded Mobile Phone Spin-Offs?

Hokage17

I think Sony should expand their brand to mobile platforms seeing as how they currently have Xperia Z tablet and phone which have both been successful thus far. They would fair better in the mobile division than they are with the Vita right now. I'm willing to bet their tablets and phones outsell the Vita by a large margin in the long run. I know to some it may not seem like a good idea but the reality of the situation is that times are changing.

Mobile has gotten really strong over the years and in my opinion almost makes handheld gaming extinct. Now other companies are trying to get into the console business using Android based OS such as the Ouya and the one recently announced by Amazon. it's only a matter of time before the likes of Samsung, Apple, Google and all these other companies get in the mix. If your a gamer it may not seem like a threat to Sony, but never underestimate the competition. I'm sure Atari felt that way about Nintendo, then Nintendo about Sony, and Sony about Microsoft, etc.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy a $500 PS4 and Vita Bundle?

Hokage17

$500 would be a great deal and a bit of a steal. In fact it's almost too good to be true. Sony could have just as easily launched the PS4 for $500 and would have come as no surprise, but at that price to include the Vita it's almost like they're giving it away for free.

Since the Vita and Wii U are both in a similar position maybe Nintendo should bundle the Wii U with the 3DS for $350. That was a joke but I bet it would help move some Wii U's off the shelf.

Re: A Whopping 1.3 Million Players Floored Gran Turismo 6's Demo

Hokage17

@get2sammyb I here you on that, but I just feel a title the calibur of GT6 would've made their launch lineup more complete and would have given them that "must have" title they need. Kill Zone is definitely a good launch title but Gran Torismo is a legendary franchise, especially for motor heads. That would've given them a clear edge over Microsoft even with Forza. Sorry but Drive Club is still unproven at the moment but I guess it could turn out to be a surprise.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Intend to Buy the PS4's Camera?

Hokage17

The one thing it has going for it is the price. At $60 it's not so hard to pick one up, but Sony has to give us a reason. The concept seems cool, but they're going to have to do a lot more. It seems when it comes to Sony's perphirals there's never a lot of support...Eye Toy, PS Move, even the Vita and PSP and the PSP had a 70 million user base. So I'm just going to wait and see.

Re: FAQ: What Are the Differences Between the PS4 and Xbox One?

Hokage17

In my opinion the Xbox one is just hideous. It's big, heavy, and plain looking. I used to actually like the design of the 360, it made it more desireable but PS4 has Xbox One beat in this area alone. Infact if you put the two consoles side by side to the general public I think people would just gravitate to PS4 based on looks alone.

Second I like the potential of PS4's controller. While Xbox One's is more of an upgrade to the 360, PS4's controller offers new possibilities with the clickable touch pad.

Finally, the Kinect just creeps me out. Again the design of Kinect is hideous and actually quiet intimidating. To be perfectly honest the Kinect single handily turned me off. Collecting data, always on, always watching, is just creepy. Then with all the Microsoft rumors of providing data to NSA I'm just not willing to risk it. Not that I have anything to hide but you just never know. I understand that voice commands and hand signals are their biggest selling point but I'm really not interested at all and could care less. Gaming is meant to be a relaxing experience but how can you relax if your yelling at your screen swinging your arms around and hitting someone by accident? lol Yeah I'll take a pass on the Kinect.

Re: Talking Point: Do Single Player Focused Games Really Need Multiplayer?

Hokage17

I don't feel every game needs multiplayer especially if the target is the single player experience, but it does help for replayability. Certain games after you beat them no matter how great the experience leaves you with nothing to come back to. So I feel if nothing else a good multiplayer would give reason to blow the dust off your discs.

Re: Opinion: Sony Must Refresh the PS4's Momentum at GamesCom

Hokage17

Sony needs to show the strength of their 1st party. In my opinion this is the biggest difference between PS4 and Xbox 180. So far Sony hasn't really played their hand yet. I mean sure they've shown Kill Zone, and Infamous, ( which both look great might I add ) and while they make great appetizers, we all know Sony is capable of much more.

I also suspect we will see some more hardware and UI announcements. You have to think that 3.5 gigs of ram is going to more than just games and sharing features. Personally I'm hoping to hear more about Gaikai seeing as how they've kept they're lips pretty tight on that one. There's a lot of potential there.

As far as the silence I think it was all just to keep Microsoft from stealing they're ideas which they've already proved with the current 180's. Seeing as how Gamescom is so close to launch they should be safe to let the cat out of the hat. I don't even think MS has the balls to pull a 180, 2-3 months close to launch. I also put Microsoft at a major disadvantage because they really played they're whole hand playing catchup, and it wouldn't come as a surprise if they're PR team botches things again, Don Mattrick or not. Maybe it's just me but it seems that every spokesperson for Microsoft is either dull, or just doesn't have a clue how to communicate with the gaming audience.

Re: Round Up: We've Played a Ton of PS4 Games, Read Our Thoughts

Hokage17

In my opinion all the PS4 games that have been shown thus far look great. They just need a few heavy hitters and they're good. Order 1886 has potential, Destiny's up there, and then there's the Sony Santa Monica game that sounds huge. Maybe i'm just being greedy but I want to see more.

Re: Sony to Hog the GamesCom Spotlight on 20th August

Hokage17

The release date is a given, but more importantly Sony needs to show some more games for both the PS4 and the Vita, but specifically the PS4. Sadly right now Microsoft is winning the numbers game in terms of software, so Sony has to beat them with quality. Microsoft has planted a seed in peoples heads with their "timed exclusives" and gives the impression that they have a lot more games than PS4. Even though we know that's not the case, the tactic seems to be working nonetheless.

I think Sony's biggest problem right now is they are trying to do too much at one time. Right now all their effort should be selling the PS4 but they are trying to sell 3 different platforms in PS4, PS3, and Vita which means they are splitting resources while Microsoft is primarily focused on XBox One. If Sony only focused on PS4 their games lineup would be far greater. In my opinion games like The Last Of Us and GT6 would have sold the PS4 alone, yet they are PS3 games. While it's good they continue to support their old platform and the Vita needs all the help it can get, I feel that resources they are putting into those is taking away from the PS4 and is giving Xbox One a slight advantage.

Re: So, That PlayStation 4 RAM Saga Is Still Rolling

Hokage17

I'm still amazed at how much people have overreacted. You would think Sony just announced the PS4 is gonna cost $500 or that its coming with a mandatory always on camera that monitors and collects your data. Instead Sony haven't said anything alarming only a rumor that devs may have 5 gigs of ram to work with which is more than enough. I could see if it was a problem for devs but they've given PS4 nothing but praise. People are just so darn petty.

Re: Reaction: Why You Should Stop Bleating About the PS4's RAM

Hokage17

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony allowed that information to get leaked to see the fan reaction in order to give them a time loop to respond. By nothing being official, people can speculate all they want. For all we know Sony comes out today and announces it has 6.5 gigs of ram for devs just to shut people up, but there's nothing wrong with 5.

Re: PS4 Offers 5.5GB GDDR5 RAM to Developers, But Don't Lose Your Mind

Hokage17

@Zombie_Barioth One things for certain people would be a lot harder to get along with, and I think eventually words would turn to violence. Not sure if you ever watched the Dave Chappelle shows, but he actually did a skit like that; if the real world were like the internet. If you never saw it before you should check it out. While it is a comedy I think it demonstrates the the world of the internet perfectly. It doesn't exactly get into the subject we're on, but it does show how disgusting the world of the internet really is.

Re: PS4 Offers 5.5GB GDDR5 RAM to Developers, But Don't Lose Your Mind

Hokage17

@Zombie_Barioth Yeah it's just something I've been noticing. People are really becoming emotionally attached to brands. I love PlayStation and always have, but if my closest friend decides to get an Xbox One should that affect our friendship? Of course not but that is the way people are acting. Yes the internet is a very secluded domain where people can remain anonymous and feel free to say the things online that they normally wouldn't have the nerve to say in person. However that's something I actually like about blogging because people are real. In real life sometimes people would smile in your face but deep down really don't like you, but on the internet people show there true colors. For example if you were to ask some random people on the street about Xbox1 and PS4 they would give you their most humble answer, but pose that same question online and you will see the exact opposite.

Re: PS4 Offers 5.5GB GDDR5 RAM to Developers, But Don't Lose Your Mind

Hokage17

@get2sammyb I actually enjoy it. Sometimes I go on sites and say things intentionally just to get a reaction. You learn more about people when there pissed than when there happy. What I've learned is that Xbox fans are bitter at PlayStation fans, because when Xbox One was getting stomped into the ground, PlayStation fans showed no mercy. Slandering every PS4 article good or bad is they're own way of taking revenge. That's why something as silly as a gig of ram gets blown out of proportion.

Re: PS4 Offers 5.5GB GDDR5 RAM to Developers, But Don't Lose Your Mind

Hokage17

This whole next gen console war has gone from friendly competition to down right childish. All this constant bickering back and forth over which console is better is just pointless. It's gotten so bad that if you make a honest comment about a console in a comment section people really get personally upset about it like you offended them as a person, it's just ridiculous. Some people are just taking brand loyalty extremely too far. I'm a PlayStation fan myself but this news is no big deal at all and don't see why people are so surprised. 5 gigs is still more than enough ram to work with and people don't even know anything about the PS4's OS. This is why I been saying it's not good for Sony to be so quiet regarding the PS4. All that does is make people suspicious, and people are so quick to jump to conclusions. Now they have no choice but to break their silence.

Re: Analyst: There'll Be More Xbox Ones Available at Launch Than PS4

Hokage17

@Reverend_Skeeve As much as I didn't like Xbox One's original policies, I would have accepted and respected them a lot more if they would have just stuck to their guns. The most annoying part of it all is till this very day they still never gave the reason behind those policies. For a company that always talks about vision, they never shared with us the consumers what their vision was. Even though I'm a PlayStation fan I'm not a fanboy and was very open to trying out Microsoft's new console. I watched their whole press conference anxious to learn more about their console. Ultimetly what turned me off above all else was their own communication and lack of integrity. For a company as large as Microsoft to do a 180 ( and they are still doing 180's ) this close to the launch of their product to make their console more like PS4 is not a good sign at all.

Re: Reaction: Microsoft's Stopped the Xbox One Rot, But PS4 Is a Step Ahead

Hokage17

@get2sammy I accidentally deleted my post trying to edit something, but I see what your saying and I agree. All I'm saying Sony should give their fans a little something to help build anticipation. It doesn't have to be a full game announcement or a trailer or anything, but just a hint. Kind of like how they teased the new Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus for PS3. I don't think there's a single PlayStation fan that wasn't excited and part of the excitement was because most of us thought it was a PS4 announcement. While i'm glad that it's on PS3 I was actually a little dissapointed because I'm dying for some new PS4 news. Any kind of news. I'm just tired of reading about Xbox which I will never buy because Microsoft has no integrity and no balls., but also can't deny that it's not wise to allow them to build momentum. When you crush your opponent you have to crush them completely. No matter what Sony is planning you don't give a company as huge as Microsoft a chance to regain footing, because it can just as easily backfire.

Re: Analyst: There'll Be More Xbox Ones Available at Launch Than PS4

Hokage17

This is just another one of microsoft's tactics to try and save face. It was humiliating for PS4 to be all sold out at just about all major retailers and Xbox One dragging far behind even getting surpassed by the Ouya at one point. Numerous sources throughout the internet all pointed out that the PS4 was outselling Xbox one. Even Gamestop and Amazon made it officially known. Now all of a sudden Microsoft wants to say they are stopping pre orders due to high demand, the exact same words out of Sony's mouth weeks ago.

I'm not trying to sound like a hater and I don't think it's so much the Xbox One I dislike, as it is Microsoft themselves. Everything they do seems desperate and it always feels like they're trying to copy Sony: PS4 doesn't have all them ridiculous policies, Xbox does a 180. PS4 has a feature where you can download 15 minutes of gameplay and share it with the push of a button, suddenly out of no where Xbox 1 can record your last 5 minutes, Microsoft takes away the family share feature then finds out the PS4 has it, now all of a sudden they want to bring it back. Sony says they are stopping preorders due to high demand, weeks later Microsoft says the same thing. It's no wonder Sony is slow to put out details of PS4, because Microsoft will just rip it and claim it as their own.

Re: Talking Point: What Does the Future Hold for HD Re-Releases on PS4?

Hokage17

It really all depends on how Sony utilizes there Gaikai technology. They have the potential to make there own console version of Steam with over 3 generations of past Playstation games and future PS4 digital downloads. In my opinion that could be huge and could potentially be the driving force for digital. There's still a lot we don't know about the PS4. If devs do still make HD remakes it will more than likely be digital in my opinion.

Re: The PS4 Definitely Records Your Last 15 Minutes of Gameplay

Hokage17

In the case of Xbox One it can only record your last 5 minutes of gameplay while PS4 has a dedicated button that can record up to 15 minutes at any time and then share with just the push of a button.. This feature has been wired into the PS4's makeup and for Xbox One it seems more like a last minute touch up so they can claim to have the same feature.

Re: Sony to Improve PlayStation Vita Sales with Hardware Initiatives

Hokage17

@Squiggle55 So what your saying is they should just sell the Vita for $100 bucks? Keep in mind that the Vita is every bit as advanced as the ipad which runs $400 and up, so your basically saying Sony should just give it away for free. I don't think a PS4+Vita bundle is a bad idea, but $500 is just insulting. truth be told the Vita is worth every dime of $300.

Reasons I think it's not selling is for one the PSP wasn't properly supported even though it had a 70+ install base and people still haven't forgotten so Sony kind of missed there opportunity to make their mark. Two unlike the generation where the PSP came out, people have smart phones and tablets now that actually have some decent games at dirt cheap prices most of them are even free, but overall I think the Vita is a really nice handheld, it's just caught in the middle of two generations and hasn't found it's place yet.

Re: Opinion: The Problem with Knack, the PS4 Title That's Punching Above Its Weight

Hokage17

Knack does look like it could turn out to be a really nice game. The problem is that it lacks a next gen appeal. In terms of graphics and even playabilty I put it on par with Ratchet and Clank for PS3, and while R&C is a great series for PS3, you tend to expect something more on PS4. That being said it is nice to see Sony trying to bring back the mascots to gaming, and Knack does look very much like a mascot kind of game. I would buy it for the right price maybe in the $39.99 range but I don't think it's worth $60.

Re: Sony's Indie Support 'Lives Up to the Hype, and Then Some'

Hokage17

This is a prime example of why I support Sony. They're really excelling in the small areas. It's not always about the big things, sometimes the smaller things matter more and could eventually turn into a really big thing. When it comes to indies this is one area in particular where Sony has truly distanced themselves from Microsoft and I think in the end it will pay dividends for them. It seems Sony is pushing their platform to be the go to device for all games both large and small. while Microsoft is focused only on large games. I think Sony has the better concept of the 2. More variety equals more options both in terms of cost and fun.

Re: Survey Finds PS4 the Most Attractive Console for European Developers

Hokage17

From what I've gathered from extenisve research and various reader comments is the only things to like about the Ouya is the cheap price and the emulators. but with everyone already having at least one computer in their home, wouldn't it just be easier to download your own emulators and save yourself a 100 bucks? No offense to early adopters who like the device, but I just don't see the appeal.

Re: Sony Designed the DualShock 4 with First-Person Shooters in Mind

Hokage17

First I wanna say while I do love Cerny he looks insane in that pic, like Jim Carrey on dumber and dumber. You guys really should have chose a better pic of the man. Second, I'm happy that Sony once again listened to the feedback of their fans and designed a better controller for this particularly important genre. While not every PlayStation fan is big on 1st person shooters, nevertheless it is a huge category in gaming, particularly with online multiplayers.
