Re: Promised PS4 Stock Availability Pushes System into Amazon UK's Top Ten

Hokage17

@BornOfEvil The sad thing about it is i support almost every platform; PC, 3DS, Wii U, Mobile, Vita, and of course PlayStation which I love. All platforms except Xbox One. I was even digging the 360 at one point but I cannot find a single thing I like about Xbox One. Everything from the look and feel of the console is so opposite of the gaming culture. Don't even get me started on the Kinect and all those horrible policies they tried to enforce, but I'm glad Sony decided to remove the camera.

Personally I don't think cameras belong on consoles and seem more like an invasion of privacy to me. Maybe someday down the line I may be willing to warm up to the idea of PS Eye because of Sony's more modest approach, but it all depends on many different factors. For now I'm good with a controller.

Re: Promised PS4 Stock Availability Pushes System into Amazon UK's Top Ten

Hokage17

I'm really glad Sony chose to put the gamers and developers 1st this time. In the beginning when they were saying all that stuff I thought it was just talk, but to see it in action has me truly impressed. They could have easily made the price $500 and seen more of a profit and it still would have sold phenomenal. Some people say it was to under cut Xbox One and that could be true, but the bottom line is the price is consumer friendly so now more people can afford one. That's obviously contributing to the massive sales. For the record, Xbox One aint doing too bad either though it's not my taste.

Re: You'll Be Able to Chat to Lara Croft in PS4 Re-Release Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

Hokage17

I think the ability to use voice controls without the camera is a huge bonus on PS4 and is heavily overlooked. Whenever people talk about the Kinect of Xbox One the only thing people even remotely care about is voice commands, but you have to have that big ugly camera to use them. For people like me it's a lot more practical to just be able to use a headset. The same headset you use for chatting online can also be used for voice commands and is a lot fluid because the system can better hear what your saying and you don't have to scream at the top of your lungs disturbing everyone in the house as well as your neighbors. Just my opinion though.

Re: PlayStation Home Developer Dreaming Up Ambitious PS4 Exclusive

Hokage17

I didnt care much for PS home either. It was a cool concept and had a lot of potential but in the end I think it turned out to be a glass half full. It just failed to fully grab my attention and I often overlooked it. One thing that I will say is I think PlayStation Home was well ahead of it's time. When you look at what's going on now with Social network sites like Facebook, Twiiter, Instagram, etc. Some kind of evolution of PS Home seems like the next step. Imagine if Facebook were to do something like this. In fact I expect they will someday.

Re: You Might Be Hearing About The Last Guardian Sooner Than You Think

Hokage17

I kind of get the feeling this game was actually almost finished on PS3 then at the last minute a decision was made to bring it out on PS4. Coming from the legendary team that made ICO and SOC, this game screams of epicness. I'm not sure what's exactly the deal behind the wait, for all we know this could be one of the launch games for PS4's rumored VR unit given the level of mystery behind it. I just hope whatever they're doing this game turns out to be a masterpiece and well worth the wait.

Re: PS4 Launch Improves UK PS Vita Sales by 68 Per Cent

Hokage17

In the past I've been known to dog out the Vita but I will give credit where credit is do. For the record i just brought my fiance's son a Vita and a copy of Tearaway for Christmas, and I will get one for my self next year after i get my PS4.

Re: PS4 Outpaces Xbox One in UK Retail Traffic Stats

Hokage17

I try to avoid these kind of debates because it always gets ruined by fanboys that have a very narrow point of view. The reasons why PS4 is crushing Xbox One is obvious. It's $100 cheaper, has around 100 GB more useable HDD space that is upgradable, almost 50% more powerful, more compact, better design, stronger 1st party exclusives, people have caught on to Microsofts BS such as DRM and 24 hour check ins which they try to act as if it never even happened, and the list goes on. Having said that I wouldn't be surprised if I get attacked by some troll trying to justify what makes Xbox One better. The only possible argument is either your completely sold on Kinect which I'm not, your a huge Xbox fan and can't live without Xbox Live and Halo which is almost understandable, or your just really looking forward to Titan Fall ( unproven ) and Quantum Break which actually looks pretty good.

Re: Tearaway's Price Chopped in Two at GameStop in North America

Hokage17

@Sanquine I knew my comments would fire somebody up but that's just my opinion and my intent wasn't to anger anyone. Only that I feel this would have been a great game to have on console and it would have seen more widespread success. Like it or not the Vita is struggling and that's a known fact. I'm not picking on it, but it is the truth and even Sony acknowledges that.

Your wrong about not having the same charm on PS4. Infact i think this would've been the perfect type of game to showcase the DS4's new touch screen. Maybe even implement the PS Eye for added interactivity. I guess my problem has more to do with Media Molecule being more focused on Sony's portable than the consoles. They make some amazing games but only a small percentage of people get to experience it because not everyone has or wants a Vita.

I know you may disagree because you love your Vita, but you have to see at least some reasoning in my argument. Make no mistake about it, I am a PlayStation fan and only want to see them succeed, but personally I feel like the Vita is slowing them down. Hopefully the Vita proves me wrong.

Re: Tearaway's Price Chopped in Two at GameStop in North America

Hokage17

Sony should have made this game for PS3 or PS4. The honest hard truth of the matter is nobody cares about the Vita unless you already own one and that's only a little over 2 million people. If people don't have a Vita by now then obviously there's little interest. The remote play feature sounds cool and all but to be honest I think most people are content with just playing games on their ipads when their laying down.

Re: PS4 Exclusive inFAMOUS: Second Son Will 'Blow You Away', Says Tretton

Hokage17

I think this will be the 1st true AAA next gen game to come out. Kill Zone was okay but Infamous is looking to really get the ball rolling. When you think about what the Infamous 1 and 2 attempted to achieve it seems it was only limited to the power restraints of PS3 but still came pretty close. now with PS4 it seems like Infamous Second Son has unlimited potential. Another game I'd like to see made even though some felt it was a disappointment is a new Prototype game for PS4. Heck I would piss my pants if Konami made a new Zone of Enders for PS4.

Re: Sony: We Have Some Epic PS4 Reveals Under Wraps

Hokage17

Of the games already known, I'm looking forward to Drive Club, Watch Dogs, Destiny, Metal gear Solid, Final Fantasy 14, Tomb Raider 2, Infamous, Uncharted, and Far Cry 4.

As far as the reveals still under wraps, I'm hoping for something new and fresh. Whenever Sony comes out with a new IP it's always an instant classic. Oh yeah and I hope their working on Journey 2, and Last Guardian would be nice also.

Re: 10 Per Cent of All Twitch Streams Since November Have Been from PS4

Hokage17

Sony is tapping into something very powerful with that share button. I remember when facebook 1st came out people thought it was lame or just a myspace clone. Fast forward today and billions of people are using it now even our grandparents. Sony choosing to make the PS4 more social is definitely the right direction and this is only the beginning. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple years from now through updates and user usage, that share button changes the entire look and feel of PlayStation.

Re: Video: How Fun Is Knack in a Family Environment?

Hokage17

One thing I've noticed about Knack is the hardcore gaming audience clearly wasn't the target. I think people get that confused when they hear about the games difficulty, but when you think about it, isn't that how all the old platformers used to be? As innocent as the original Super Mario Bros seemed, that game has always been a bit difficult...miss one jump and it's game over, start from the beginning. Even Sonic the Hedgehog was like that. Collect 99 rings and all you need is 1 more to get an extra life, then suddenly run into some spikes and you loose them all. Obviously Knack is a different kind of platformer but the same rules apply.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS Vita TV Suffers a Sharp Decline in Viewers

Hokage17

@craigun That would be amazing and I would definitely be 1st in line to get them. I don't know why these game companies don't think like that. I understand nowadays it's a big investment to make AAA titles but those old Final Fantasies are proven successes and that fan base hasn't gone away. Just imagine your on the couch watching TV and suddenly a commercial comes on showing Squall for FF8 in next graphics. That would just really bring out the kid in RPG gamers.

Re: Tom Clancy's The Division Hints at What Your PS4 Can Do

Hokage17

Yeah those graphics are amazing but PS4 is actually packing some nice graphics muscle this time, so it just may be able to stomach it. I'm not so sure about X1 due it's DDR3 RAM and 7790 level graphics card. Judging by the way it handled Call Of Duty and Battle field this game will certainly be scaled down to 720p on X1 and maybe even 900p on PS4.

Re: Your DualShock 4 Will Flicker Like a Torch in Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

Hokage17

Well this is about the best way to experience the game if you've never played it before. I beat it on PC and the graphics were amazing but I am interested to see how they use the light bar, it actually sounds really cool and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it used that way more often especially in fps. It's good to hear devs are trying to take advantage of PS4's new features. But like Shellybird27 said, I'm not digging the price especially when it's $10 on Steam. It would be one thing if this were a fresh new adventure but this is a game that many people already have. I really do believe publishers need to rethink their pricing schemes for consoles moving forward. This goes all the way back to the whole DRM/ used games situation. If they want people to stop buying their games used then quit trying to nickle and dime your customers.

Re: PS4 Stock Sells Like Lightning at Amazon in North America

Hokage17

PS4 is definitely off to a great start and judging by the records they're off to the best start in console history. Having already sold 2.1 million worldwide and more than likely to hit another million in Asia, the PS4 will be done sold more units in it's overall launch than PS3 and 360 did did in it's entire 1st year. Amazing.

Re: How Much Do Gran Turismo 6's Microtransactions Cost?

Hokage17

Man, I remember a time when if you wanted to get through levels quick you could just get cheat codes. I used to get some from the magazine "Tips and Tricks" or just go online at gamespot.com in the cheats section. They don't even have a cheat section anymore that's just how much things have changed. How the hell did we get to the point where Microtransactions take the place of codes? I guess Game Genie would be considered blasphamy under todays standards.

Re: Rumour: Could PS4 Copy Xbox One's Universal Remote Features?

Hokage17

When it comes to voice commands and gesters, it all depends on how the technology is implemented. It has the potential to make games more immersive but also has the potential to be a distraction if not done right. The concept of having a universal remote that can control things in your house with just your voice and hand signals could be huge. It seems like something that doesn't really have a place in the video games world, but could be a hit for entertainment as a stand alone device.

When I think of PS Eye and Kinect, I always think of the clapper which was popular in the 90's. Just clap your hands and the lights go on and off, or even motion detectors for home security. Imagine having a device that can control all the electronics in your house with just your voice and movements. Even Apple just brought the company that created the kinect technology so we'll definitely see more of this as the years move along.

Re: Sony Thanks the Players for Contributing to 2.1 Million PS4 Sales Worldwide

Hokage17

Sony's just in a very comfortable position right now with PS4. It appears they will not only meet their own sales projections for March but have a strong chance of exceeding it. The only thing slowing them down is their own supply, but the demand is clearly there. Then once you look at all the games they have in the pipeline, I can only imagine demand intensifying even more.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS Vita TV Suffers a Sharp Decline in Viewers

Hokage17

The problem with SquareEnix is they pissed their fanbase off. How many years of begging does it take to get a Final Fantasy 7 sequel or remake? Instead they do sequels to 13 and 11 of which a lot of RPG fans didn't like. XV looks great but they better start giving their fans what they ask instead if what they think people want because it's not working. As for Vita TV, seems like a good idea but with PS4 around the corner nobody cares. The Vitas only real hope for relevancy is the remote play.

Re: Talking Point: PS4 Proves That Consoles Are Alive and Kicking

Hokage17

I don't think consoles are going anywhere. They just have to stick to the formula of being a games console which is their purpose anyway. I'll admit i do game a lot on mobile but it is a different kind of gaming experience. Mobile gaming is more of a convenient quick fix than anything and some of those games are pretty addictive such as Kingdom Rush and Subway Surfers. But when it all boils down to it there's nothing like looking at your console hooked up to the TV with a controller in your hands sitting comfortably on the couch, on the bed, or even the floor, and playing some hardcore video games. PC comes close but it's just not ideal.

Re: European PS4 Launch Prompts PSN Connectivity Problems

Hokage17

I wouldn't be surprised if PS4 sells twice as much in 24 hours in Europe, than they did in North America. I was watching some youtube clips of how long those lines were, freaking insane. I know PlayStation is popular in Europe but i had no idea they were that STRONG. Seriously the lines are almost a mile long in the UK alone. Incredible.

Re: Sony: PS Vita's Not Our Biggest Seller, But It's a Loved Machine

Hokage17

I think pairing Vita with PS4 is a great strategy. Mostly because it missed it's opportunity and has become a bit of a late bloomer. One of the best ways to breathe life back into it is to pair it with it's more popular big brother and it also opens more advertising opportunities for the Vita.

Re: Is DriveClub Racing Away with the PS4 Visuals Crown?

Hokage17

Drive Club has gone from a game that I thought had a lot of promise, to one of the most anticipated titles of 2014 in my opinion. It just looks like one of the most amazing racers I've seen in a long time. It's not even just the graphics, looking at the gameplay you can just see the fun factor. I still have a hard time believing Sony will give that away for free with PS Plus even in a limited role. It just looks like a game you could play for hours on end, and so far in my opinion of the most complete games Drive Club and infamous are the two that look the most Next Gen of all consoles.

Re: PlayStation, How Do You Use PS4 Voice Controls?

Hokage17

That's pretty cool that it works with the headset and something I didn't know until now. I'm not to fond of yelling at the console, but being able to control it with a headset seems pretty natural and a very underrated feature seeing as how PS4 also is Bluetooth enabled.

Re: You Can Substantially Speed Up Your PS4 by Swapping in a New Hard Drive

Hokage17

I think it's great they opted to make the internal storage upgradable rather than settle for external ports. This way not only do you get extra onboard space but you also improve your overall user experience. It's good to have options. So upgrading your hard drive at some point is recommended though it's also not a mandatory thing. Personally I'm going to upgrade mine to the highest capacity possible with SSD. I know it's the more expensive option and of course I do my research, but in my experience I've learned that most of the time you really do get what you pay for.

Re: You Really Shouldn't Expect Oculus Rift Support on PS4

Hokage17

I'm guessing thats not the final design of the Rift because it looks very uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. No matter how advance the tech is, if it's not appealing to the public eye and the price isn't right, nobody's gonna care, and this just so happens to be one of Sony's biggest strengths.

I've read several articles where the Rift team is down talking consoles saying they're not powerful enough to support the Rift unlike the PC, but in my opinion if the consoles aren't supporting them then their potential is limited because all the hardcore gamers and most casuals play games on consoles. For the record, Valve is also rumored to be building one to support their Steam Machine so if valve is also in the race then Rift has an even slimmer chance because Valve practically is PC gaming.

Re: Talking Point: Is the PS4's Limited Launch Lineup a Problem?

Hokage17

I think the biggest problem is that PS4 is not backwards compatible with PS3. At this point right now PS3 is still the better console with a larger library of games. If they could have included BC then it would have made the switch to next gen a easier process and the launch lineup more forgivable. Who could really complain about the launch lineup when you could still play GT6, Beyond Two Souls, The last Of us, etc. on the same console? That's just my take.

Re: No Fix for the PS4's 'Blue Light of Death' in Sight

Hokage17

@Shaolin, no offense taken, but it wasn't my intent to attack Xbox and after re-reading what I posted I'm not understanding your argument here. I more or less defended both Sony and Xbox. Maybe it 's wrong that I predict something similar happens with Xbox and I really hope it doesn't, but the point I was trying to get at is that both PS4 and Xbox One are victims of fanboy hate. As for the PS4 fans that got cheated with a bad console it's unfortunate, but that's just the way it is with 1st generation anything. That's just the reality of consumer electronics. Hopefully they are being taken care of by customer service and give it another shot.

Re: No Fix for the PS4's 'Blue Light of Death' in Sight

Hokage17

@eliotgballade There's nothing wrong with having a little fun. Even I've ragged on Xbox One on more than one occassion, but there is a line from where it goes from just being fun to being miserable. Reading through comments on various sites makes it clear that some people main intent is to destroy a brand. It doesn't matter what these companies do, good or bad people are just fixated with pulling them down. Sometimes human nature can be an ugly thing.

Re: No Fix for the PS4's 'Blue Light of Death' in Sight

Hokage17

It's pretty sad how low the trolls would stoop. But if you think this is bad I'm willing to bet Xbox One has it even worse. PlayStation Fanboys are trying to pull Xbox One down, and Xbox fanboys are trying to pull PS4 down. If both get pulled down then no one wins including the gamers. I just don't understand the obsession they have with these brands.

Re: Talking Point: Are You a Fan of the PS4's Social Features?

Hokage17

For me the share function is more of an added perc. Something I won't use a lot, but could be handy at times. I think this and streaming is more of Sony's way of bringing the console up to date with the current trends. While it may not initially appeal to a lot of us old school gamers, I can definitely see it catching on with the youth. Just look at how Vine has taken off? At 1st I thought Vine was silly and couldn't understand what all the fuss was about, but then one of my younger co-workers started doing Vines at work and I gave it a try, and have been going Vine crazy ever since. I can imagine something similar happening with the share feature especially with Multiplayer games.

Re: Blimey, One Million PS4s Were Sold in Just 24 Hours

Hokage17

That's a really good sign. Despite all the hate that's been going around as of late, PlayStation has a lot of fans. That number in 1 day combined with the pre-orders puts Sony in a very good position. I'm interested to see how Xbox one does, being a $100 more and all. I actually like the UI and some of the features of Kinect as well as the rumble buttons on their controller. Guess we'll see how it all goes down in a week.

Re: Yoshida: Sony Bend's PS4 Game Will Make You Panic

Hokage17

My biggest hope for PS4 is that Sony continues the trend they started at the end of PS3. At the end of PS3's life cycle they brought some really amazing games. So amazing that it actually upset me a little that these games weren't launch titles for PS4. People say the PS4's launch lineup is mediocre and I tend to agree, but if they had The Last Of Us, Beyond Two Souls, and Grand Torismo 6 I doubt anyone could complain. As for Sony Santa Monica, PS4 needs them to bring something epic. After all the fans need something to fill Kratos's shoes, and those are some really big shoes to fill.

Re: Ubisoft Shipping 1080p Patch for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag on PS4

Hokage17

@get2sammy Yeah pretty much from here on out we'll be seeing more polished games, and the games that were sent at launch are getting fine tuned as we speak. Same goes for the actual PS4 console; the 1st batch is always the worse. In a lot of ways the early adopters are sorta like the ginne pigs of the next gen. They're the ones who experience the worst of it. By the time the next batch rolls around, Sony and the devs will have most of the issues resolved so gamers like me won't have to deal with all those problems. Not saying theirs nothing wrong with buying a console at launch, but that's just the way it is.

Re: Ubisoft Shipping 1080p Patch for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag on PS4

Hokage17

I don't know what people were expecting. It is a brand new console launch and developers were rushing trying to meet those deadlines. At least PS can do 1080p which is more than can be said for the competition unless we're talking about racers and fighting games. The whole resolution-gate thing is utter nonsense. One thing about the internet is that it shows peoples true character and a lot of grown adults are acting like babies. It takes time for a new product to hit it's shot groove especially consoles which is why I'm glad I decided to wait. Thank you to the people who did order theirs for the launch because you help establish an install base which is needed, but I've learned a long time ago sometimes it's just better to wait.

Re: Sony Unfazed by Isolated Instances of Faulty PS4 Consoles

Hokage17

I think it's a combination of some people overreacting, and the media making things seem worse than they are to stir up controversy. New products are bound to have problems that's just the nature of the beast, and .4% is no reason to panic at all. It seems to me that some people are just looking for something to nitpick at when there is nothing. Not saying PS4 is perfect, but it's as good as you can reasonably expect.
