Re: Round Up: Resogun Shoots to the Top of the PS4 Reviews Pile

Hokage17

PS4 may have a lack of games at launch but we all know they're coming. I feel Xbox One is in for the worse because it's looking like their biggest issues will lie within their own hardware. I wouldn't be surprised after that mandatory OS patch if there's a wide spread report of bugs. Not wishing bad on anyone but don't forget it was only a couple months ago Microsoft rushed a 180 on their entire OS.

Re: Round Up: Killzone: Shadow Fall PS4 Reviews Aim for the Skies

Hokage17

Wow the reviews are a bit of a disappointment, but it really shouldn't come as a surprise. Launches are always this way. We get so caught up in visuals looking for something next gen and overlook the most important thing.....the gameplay. This is the reason why I held off on launch because the better games don't roll out until 2014 and by then these launch titles will be half the price anyway.

Re: You'll Now Be Able to Buy PSN Content Directly from Amazon

Hokage17

This is actually Big for Sony and yet another smart move. While Sony will possibly turn less of a profit on individual digital sales, this will however draw more people into their digital space. It's not always about controlling everything. Sometimes you just have to open the gates and let everyone get a fair slice of the money pie. This way everyone wins and Sony still gets the majority of the pie.

Re: Tretton: We're Very Confident We're in Great Shape with PS4

Hokage17

” the SCEA president told Business Week, responding to estimates suggesting that it will sell three million PS4s by the end of the year. “That hurdle has been cleared. We’re very, very confident that we’re in great shape.”

That pretty much tells you everything you need to know. Based on that quote they've already sold 3 million PS4's and it hasn't even launched yet. I can't think of an exact estimate but it will be more than 5 million. I wouldn't be surprised if they sell 5 million by the end of the year. I guess in that case, I'm predicting 8 million by march.

Re: Here's What the Inside of the PS4's Packaging Looks Like

Hokage17

@zeldagaymer93 Yeah, i was thinking the same thing when I decided not to pre order, I figured i'd just wait for Infamous to come out. Fast foward to today and i just want the thing already. Guess I'm just being a little impatient, but kill Zone is one of my favorite games.

Re: Feature: Games of the Generation - Nathan's Five Favourites

Hokage17

Heavy Rain was something special. It was almost like watching a movie, yet you were playing a game. I would like to see more games made in that genre. Perhaps whenever Sony deploys their rumored Virtual Reality helmet it'll open the doors up for more games of that type. I really hope Sony has an Oculus Rift type of device in the works, it just feels like the time is right.

Re: Knack Proves That a Problem Shared Is a Problem Halved

Hokage17

Lately I've been really digging Knack. It may not be the most graphically impressive next gen game coming out, but it looks like a blast to play and has a very old school PlayStation look and feel to it. Everytime I see this game I instantly think of PS1 classics like Crash, Spyro, Medieval, Ape Escape, Tiny Tank, etc. Originally i didn't like Knack and thought it just looked weird but it's been slowly growing on me. Also I'm loving the throwback co-op mode.

Re: PlayStation 4 May Well Be Make or Break for Struggling Sony

Hokage17

@Bliquid I think this is the reason why Sony is reaching out so hard to Indies. They understand the strain that big budget titles puts on developers and not to mention the impact on price it has for gamers. Indies are becoming more and more as a medium, meaning they are able to fill that gap with smaller and cheaper yet innovative games.

When you look at the PS4's launch games like Kill Zone and BattleField instantly come to mind. But I think once people get to experimenting with the smaller games like Resogun, Octodad,Transitor, those are the kind of games that will even everything out and lessen the strain.

Re: PlayStation 4 May Well Be Make or Break for Struggling Sony

Hokage17

If Sony really wants to sell 5 million units by March then they better get them PS4's back in stock, cause I'm ready to pre order one right now and can't find one anywhere. I imagine I'm not alone in this.

I think Sony is going to be alright because there Playstation brand is still strong and their mobiles are improving as well. However, they need to do something to pick things up at Sony Pictures and boost their hardware sales. Sony's name seems to have gotten old or played out in comparison to the Apples and Samsungs of the world. Perhaps the success of PS4 can be the beacon of light they need to remind people they're still a trusted brand and get back on top again. Sometimes it all starts with that one giant piece of the puzzle. Ever since Apple came out with iphone business has been booming for the company and expanded to their other products. The same can happen for Sony with PS4 because PlayStation is still very very popular.

Re: Rumour: Oh My, Could Naughty Dog's Next Game Take Place in Space?

Hokage17

To be honest, I would love them to make an outter space game. Sci Fi's make some of the best games when done right and it would be a nice change of pace for the team. One thing I always respect about Naughty dog is they're not afraid to try new things. unlike other developers that just milk the hell out of franchises, you never know what your going to get from Naughty Dog and they come out with something new every generation. The best part about it......everything they make is always epic.

Re: Yoshida Appreciative of Feedback on PS4's Missing Features

Hokage17

Well I didn't expect it to have everything. It offers so much I can see how it's easy to overlook something like DLNA, but it's nice their listening and willing to add features even if through a patch. One thing that i am most impressed with and to some it may not seem like much at all but they were honest with their FAQ's, unlike Microsoft who beats around the bush, tries to avoid the subject, and even tell lies to try and cover up the truth like the 720p situation. People aren't stupid and want to know exactly what their spending their money on. So thumbs up to Sony.

Re: Sony: PS4 Pre-Orders Are Much Higher Than Any Prior Platform

Hokage17

I think PS4 is going to be a real hit. Some people say the launch is weak but it's still stronger than almost any other console launch in terms of Variety. The only thing missing from the launch lineup is a racing game which was supposed to be Drive Club as we all know is delayed, but looking at recent footage I say they made the right decision. With KillZone, Battle Field, Call of Duty, Assasins Creed, and Injustice how can anyone call this launch weak? not to mention they have a innovative controller, ( which I just ordered from amazon btw ) A well built console, a snappy user interface, and a consumer friendly price. They're already over the 2 million mark in terms of pre orders, Black friday's coming up and so is christmas, not to mention highly anticipated exclusives like Infamous and The Order and unnounced projects from their other major company's. It's really hard to picture them failing at this point. Unlike their competition they had a solid plan and stuck to it and it shows.

Re: Judging By These Comments, Titanfall Was Definitely Planned for PS4

Hokage17

I think it's pretty sad. When you think about Titan Fall is really the only system seller Xbox One has if you want to call it that. microsofts banking on this game to be there temporary Halo when actually it's just another Call Of Duty with Mechs. It does look like a nice game, but it's not enough to make me cough up an additional $500 on an Xbone. I personally prefer Kill Zone over every other game coming out this year.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Do Format Face-Offs Really Matter?

Hokage17

The way i see it, only a fanboy would choose Xbone over PS4. Forget about specs, PS4 has better games, better graphics, better hardware, a better operating system, better pricing, better exclusives, better design, a more innovative controller, etc. Whereas the only thing Xbox one has going for it is Titan Fall and even that isn't set in stone. There really is no comparison.

Re: Rumour: Is Sony Bend's Next Title Venturing onto PS4?

Hokage17

@Sanquine I come from the planet Venus. The Vita has had more than enough attention as of late: Remote play, Vita TV, Price cut, a new model, Kill Zone Mercenary, Little Big planet, Rachet and Clank, not to mention it actually has a nice library of games now. Sony needs to turn their focus to PS4 because not everyone is interested in a portable gaming system but people are loving the PS4. I'm not saying to ignore Vita altogether but Sony needs to be going full throttle on PS4 at this point.

Re: Rumour: Is Sony Bend's Next Title Venturing onto PS4?

Hokage17

I really hope all Sony's 1st party developers are working on PS4. Too much attention has been given to the Vita and now it's time to put the focus on it's next generation console. Without even knowing what game they are working on I already know it's going to be amazing because all Sony's 1st party games are amazing.

Re: Worried About the Number of PS4 Exclusives? There Are 14 Studios Working on Some

Hokage17

Sony destroys Microsoft on the games front. Some people seem to think it's a battle of quantity vs quality but if you look a little deeper the games battle is really lopsided in Sony's favor. Just KillZone alone is more exciting than anything Microsoft has up their sleeve or is capable of producing. Some people point to Halo but Halo is old, that's like Hulk Hogan saying he's coming back to wrestling. When Sony says they have exclusives they really mean exclusive. Not timed exclusives or exclusive content, I'm talking about full games you can only experience on PS4 and no where else. Even Titan Fall which in my opinion is the most interesting and original game announced for Xbox One is also available on PC, not to mention will be on PS4 at some point in the future. Then theirs the indie games which gets heavily underestimated in the industry. One indie game by itself really isn't big news but they add up. As it is Sony has a strong lineup of cheaper, great indie titles so there will always be something to play. Then there are the big name titles from Sony that have yet to be mentioned....Like i said it's really lopsided in Sony's favor.

Re: Rumour: Is Sony Trying to Lure Wii U Buyers Towards PS4 and Vita?

Hokage17

Honestly and I know a few will disagree with this, but in my opinion the Vita is a failure and I think it may be a little too late for Sony to change its fate. The whole remote feature is over 2 years too late. This is something that would have helped the Vita when it launched if it couldve worked remotely with PS3 like they promised. But now some of that buzz is gone and while the potential of it working for PS4 sounds good the problem is the Vita has now become an afterthought for most people. Now that I think about it, this is the only site I've noticed that even tries to support the Vita, and if you go to any of your local stores to check out its buried in the background some place out of site. For the record I like the Vita and think its an impressive piece of hardware but i feel they may have missed their window of opportunity. Im just calling it how I see it.

Re: Killzone: Shadow Fall's Texture Quality Has Improved Fourfold Since February

Hokage17

Well atleast Sony has one sure hit they can count on. Other than Kill Zone; Battle Field 4 and Asassins Creed 4 seems to be the top launch titles. For some that may not seem like a lot but when you compare it to other console launches in the past where the second best game available was Ridge Racer, suddenly the launch looks good even without the likes of Drive Club and Watch Dogs.

Re: Video: Watch an Hour of the PS4's Dashboard Examined in Excruciating Detail

Hokage17

@fchinaski I completely agree with you. That's one of the biggest problems with the internet, it just kills the magic. Things are so easy to come by nowadays it kills the sense of surprise. This was never a issue in the 90's because the internet wasn't as big as it is now. The Super Nintendo and Sega Genisis were two great consoles but could you imagine throwing the internet in the mix? People probably would've dogged them out and the end result would be less memorable.

Re: What If You've Pre-Ordered a Watch Dogs PS4 Bundle?

Hokage17

That's horrible news if you pre-ordered the Watch Dogs bundle, but things like these are the reason I never buy a new console or any product at launch. There is always issues and last minute bugs to sort out. I'm just as excited for PS4 as everyone else, but I don't plan on getting one until 2014 when Infamous Second Son comes out.

Re: Sounds Like flower's Going to Look Bloomin' Lovely on PS4

Hokage17

Games like these are the reason I feel PS4 has better games than Xbox One and Wii U. Microsoft seems to be only focused on the Call of Duty's and Maddens of the world, and while those same experiences will be on PS4 as well, Sony's focus is completely different. Games like Flower, Journey, Resogun, Mighty Number 9, Rain, etc are diamonds in the rough in my opinion. Some gamers try to put down Sony because of their indie focus but when you think about it indies are the ones that really carry the gaming industry. So while your waiting for the next BIG thing from Rockstar, Naughty Dog, Square, Konami or even Sony, PS4 will have a wealth of interesting and great games on the cheap and some are even free to play.

I love the way Sony is handling the next Gen with a strong focus on games for both the gamer and the developer. it really brings me back to the PSone days when there was never a drought of good games to play. This Gen has seen more droughts than I could remember. It's like after you beat Tomb Raider or Bioshock it took forever for something else interesting to come around. that led me to gaming more on my ipad because despite how gamers feel about the ipad platform they have a few diamonds in the rough that only cost $1 or is free. Sony clearly saw the same thing happening and i believe that is why their leaning more to indies now.

Re: Michael Pachter Reckons That the PS4 Will Outsell the Xbox One at Launch

Hokage17

I think Sony's really gonna come on top this generation. If you analyze the way they are doing business you can see their experience is in play. They haven't unleashed the big guns yet because they are waiting for the post launch to continue driving sales. they have just enough big name games readily available at launch to make a strong push and filtering it with indie titles which is a smart play if you ask me. It's the following months after launch that really determines everything and their gonna hold their cards close until that point which along with price gives them a huge advantage over Xbox one in my opinion.

Re: Michael Pachter Reckons That the PS4 Will Outsell the Xbox One at Launch

Hokage17

@rjejr , Hate to break it to you but the Wii U hasn't been the latest and greatest at any point since it's been out. I've yet to see a Wii U game that blows me away or even better than what's already available on PS3 or 360. Not to mention the technology behind the Wii U was already old when it launched. People just aren't as dumb as Nintendo apparently thought.

Re: Feature: Celebrating the 18th Anniversary of the PSone

Hokage17

Everytime I see the original PlayStation it always brings back fond memories and reminds me of why I love playing video games. I got my PlayStation for Christmas when I was 14 and I'll never forget the feeling of ripping through the gift wrap and seeing that PS symbol on the box under the tree. I can honestly say that was one of the happiest moments of my life and i enjoyed every moment with my PlayStation throughout it's entire life cycle. I can still remember running home from school to play Crash and staying up late at night even on school nights playing Tekken 2 with my dad. Those were great times to be a gamer and just thinking about it makes me miss those golden years of being a kid.
