I actually thought they did pretty good but in my opinion it was very pedestrian. Overall out of Microsofts entire event I only walked away caring for Metal Gear which also can be had on PS4. What they really needed was some hard hitting exclusive 1st party games. With the exception of Metal Gear ( which will also be on PS4 ) they didn't have a single game that could hold a candle to Kill Zone or Infamous, both of which are launch tiles.
I'm not even going to get started on the price, but we may as well throw that in the pile with all the other Xbox One problems such as always on, DRM policies, Monitoring Kinect, used game fees, Xbox Live fees etc.
I really like the atmosphere Sony is building with Playstation. Unlike Microsoft who's selling out to the cable industry and kissing publishers @sses, Sony is sticking with the gamers and trying to build better relationships with game developers. Those T shirts send a profound message and the fact that they'll be wearing them at E3 is just amazing.
Honestly if it wasn't for Sony I wouldn't be excited about E3 at all. Nintendo is in a state of emergency and Microsoft is single handily killing off their own fan base. However PS4 is like a breath of fresh air for gamers.
This game looks amazing and best of all it's exactly the kind of racing game I been waiting for. You and your friends or people in your club can get together and have real racing tournaments. Even a good friend or cousin that lives far away from you can join your club and you can race with each other against different clubs. This game has so much potential it aint even funny.
@Gamer83 Sony just gets it now. If you want people to buy your consoles give them reasons. Right now their on fire and their timing couldn't be more perfect. What's even more amazing is that all of this is planned. Everything from the early PS4 controller reveal, the total focus on gamers, building a better development environment for developers which have led to nothing but praise, Sony's emphasis of continuity of the PS3 as demonstrated with the Last of Us, leading all the way up to E3 where the PS4 will finally be revealed as well as one of the greatest gaming lineups in distant memory. The Vita's success hinges mostly on the success of the PS4. Only time will tell for the Vita but you never know Sony may have a few extra tricks up there sleeve for the Vita at E3 which I'm almost positive they will.
Sony seems a lot more focused than Microsoft for this upcoming generation. Honestly I'm more excited for the current gen PS3 games than anything I've heard for Xbox One.
I think there going to have a bunch of different bundles like they already do with PS3 and it's worked out really well for Sony. It would make a ton of sense to offer different options to better cater to everyones needs. You can have a standard base model with a minimum sized hard drive and doesn't come with the PS Eye and launch it at 350$ which would be a killer price point and would give them a stern advantage over Xbox One. PS4 for 350$ would sell like crazy and would be very appealing to the casual market. Then they can also still have the premium model with a much larger hard drive that comes bundled with PS Eye and possibly a game ( Knack ) and retail it at 500$. That's still one heck of a deal and would also sell like crazy. The premium model would mostly cater to the hardcore market. This is the same strategy Apple uses with ipad. They use the 16gig base model as the selling chip, while the 64gig and 128gig are also on the shelves for the hardcore market.
I'm only excited for Sony and Nintendo's announcements. Microsoft killed any enthusiam I had for Xbox One with all their extra bull crap you have to do just to play a game. Their just in the way at this point.
If Naughty Dog does make a Uncharted 4 I suspect it will be a PS3 release. One thing I've always admired about ND is every generation they kick off a new franchise. While company's like Konami, Nintendo, Namco, etc. cling to the same franchises generation after generation, ND always brings something new to the table. PS1 was Crash Bandicoot, PS2 was Jack & Dexter, PS3 was Drake and now Last of Us. I think if every developer followed their formula Video games would be a lot more varied. I'm really looking foward to seeing what they have in store for PS4. One of the top 3 developers in my opinion.
@Sony_70 The things that irritates me the most about Xbox One is the always on crap, and privacy issues surrounding the Kinect. Personally used game fees doesn't bother me as much though I don't agree with that also, and lack of backwards compatibilty doesn't matter to me either as I've never owned an Xbox, though I can understand the frustration of 360 fans. But having to log into the system every 24 hours and always being paranoid that MS is collecting data on me with Kinect is a problem I don't need. It doesn't matter how good the games are, Xbox One's own features are deal breakers.
@Gamer83 I seriously doubt Sony goes any where near 600$ though I do understand what your saying. The bottom line is as of right now not many people have much reason to buy a Vita. I've thought several times about buying a Vita but I have a ipad with a hundreds of apps and games so it makes little sense at all for me to get one, and I can imagine other tablet and smart phone owners feel the same way. However i do intend to get a PS4 and depending on how the remote play works out it just might be the kicker that tablet owners need to grab a Vita to compliment their PS4.
@Gamer83 I rest my case. Its like I said, please one and feel the backlash of the other. Enforce Used game policies and the consumers will hate you, dont do it and the publishers will support another platform that does. Obviously Sony has to consider the implications of both sides, they are a business afterall, and this could be the one major decision that makes or breaks them. No Sony glasses here, Im just a rational thinker, you should try it sometime.
The used game issue doesn't really bother me so much but I would prefer if things stayed the same. Sony is in a very difficult situation right now and MS has really left them no choice. Please one and get backlash from the other. The only thing I could think of is Sony would have to leave it up to the publishers discretion like it has done with EA. That way it mostly falls on the publishers. Which in turn could make people reluctant to buy a game that enforces that, which could inevitably make publishers drop the fee.
If I remember correctly didn't Sony say that they are supporting used games but the ultimate decision comes down to the publisher? If that's the case then Sony's stance is the same as it's always been. Publishers like EA have been doing this for a while but it's not necessarily Sony's call. The difference this time with XBox One is MS is actually supporting and promoting it. So it really doesn't fall on Sony the decision is left to the Publisher.
I'm playing Tomb Raider, Darksiders 2, Prototype 2, Dead Space 3, Dishonored 2, and Call of Juarez Gunslinger. Decided to get caught up on some games so I just been gaming it up. lol
@Squiggle55 Man i completely agree with you here. The whole time I was waiting for MS to show some type of virtual reality Kinect type of thing and all they did was promote cable television. Also that joke was hilarious, Xbox play games. lol
I too believe that their focus should be strictly on games and save all the extras towards the end of the show. but right off the bat they should come in with gameplay demos of 1st party title, exclusives, and block buster titles. there's nothing wrong with features being added to a console but that should never overshadow the gaming element. That's exactly what MS did and i don't have to explain the publics reaction. IGN had a poll of over 76,000 gamers and 75% thought Xbox One was horrible. That's a really good sign for Sony.
I have to admit, that video actually got me hyped up to see the full console. Sony's tactics in building enthusiasm and excitement for it's new game machine is nothing short of genius, and the timing of this video couldn't have been better.
But wouldn't a price drop for Wii U be a blow to Nintendo? They're already selling the 3DS at a loss and they will also be doing the same for the Wii U. Even though software sales may pick up, losing profit on two major hardware systems is a hard pill to swallow for any company despite the success of it's predecessor. I remember Nintendo in this same situation with N64 and the Game Cube but the difference then is their gameboys were an astounding success and provided a comfortable cushion were the shortcomings of their consoles. This time around the 3DS while it is making money is no where near the success of the either generation of gameboy or the original DS.
@Gamer83 , That has been true in the past, and I won't argue with you there. I've noticed Nintendo fans will buy a Nintendo console just for the sake of playing a new Mario or Donkey Kong, but also I think the main reason is in the past their systems have been fairly cheap. The Wii is a classic example of this. While PS3 and 360 were launching for 300-400$ the Wii was already on the shelves by Christmas for 200$ which was a recipe for success. The problem this time is the Wii U is selling for 350$ so Nintendo doesn't have the advantage of cost this time around. Even the 3DS was failing in the beginning until Nintendo started selling it at a loss and obviously the Wii u will need to do the same. However with PS4 and new Xbox around the corner it may already be too late.
Free to play games will play a huge role in the upcoming generation of gaming. The thing I like most about free to play is that it put's more pressure on developers and publishers to make better games. So if they're going to charge 60$ for a game then it better damn well be worth 60$.
"Franchise Fatigue," a very true statement. For a company that's still fairly new to gaming as Insomiac, it's quite a shame that they can realize something so simple, and a company like Nintendo that's been around for decades still can't grasp this. Granted Mario and Zelda are legendary franchises but these are all Nintendo makes now. They havn't created any new exciting games since the Smash bros.
I doubt Sony can lock down GTA5 but a new Final Fantasy could be a system seller for many people. Don't forget what Final Fantasy 7 did for PS1, that was basically the nail in the coffin. However like someone else mentioned earlier I would like to see the series go back to it's roots.
There's no doubt the PS4 is going to have a strong launch, but I think they still need that one jaw dropping game on top of all the others to make it a must have. While it's still too early to judge, I do believe that one video game can make all the difference.
Collections are a great idea for the Vita and should help it sell more. J & D, and Sly Cooper were two great series and it's nice to see them reborn again. I don't own a Vita but a couple more collections and I just might grab one up.
What the PS4 needed was backwards compatibility. That would have made the transition that much easier and made supporting two platforms more seamless. That is one of the reasons why the iphone and ipad have been so successful. It all started with ipod touch and the same apps also worked on the iphone and every generation after that. Same thing happened with ipad, mostly all the iphone and ipod touch apps/games are compatible which gives consumers more reason to stick with Apple. With Playstation that is not the case. By bringing out each new console under a totally different platform, they're alienating past consumers and telling them to just jump on over. Personally backwards compatibilty isn't that big of a deal to me, but it could be for a lot of potential consumers. Hopefully Sony's streaming service turns out to be a hit.
@get2sammyb , If the PS4 used Chrome I would be sold no questions asked. I'm already sold but that would be the icing on the cake. To be honest that would be the smart strategic thing to do. You gotta think Microsoft is gonna use Xbox 720 as a selling chip for Windows 8 and internet explorer, Chrome on PS4 would be a real kick in the balls.
@Majin-Naruto , then you can say the same thing about the Ps3 and Xbox 360. Don't forget the generation before the PS2 completely out sold the Xbox. The way the game is played the title isn't garunteed to the previous victor. Every cycle is a fresh start and PS4 is already taking the lead by winning over the hearts of fans and developers not just overseas but in the US too.

It was a feature that I wanted but I also understand that sometimes you have to make those difficult decisions even though you know some people will not agree. The end result is a much more polished system this time around and much better games. I'm also curious to know more info about the PS1, PS2, and PS3 streaming that will be available. I know the 8 gigs of ram will help out a lot but my question is will they have a way that we can download the games we stream? If they have that then problem solved.
