People keep saying the same thing about the MCU movies. Yet here we are at 27 movies and 5 TV shows. But yet they keep racking in money by the truck loads.
@uptownsoul That not even a good comparison when Microsoft just bought like 3-4 studios that already just cranks out Call of Duty, and Nintendo has a studio that does nothing but pokemon...
If anything, it makes much more likely that Insomniac will don't nothing now Sony has a studio and IP that sells Call of Duty and Pokemon numbers.
@uptownsoul Of course what i said is not based on any factural info. It some thing i hope that doesnt happen. But thing can quickly changed. We don't know what may happen 2-3 years now when both Wolverine and Spider-Man 2 release, and 5 of Playstation best selling are all Marvel games.
Hell, 2 years ago now of us was expecting to see a Sony studio developing for Switch, or Sony buying a studio to have them still just release multiplatform games, or Sony trying to release 10 live service games. These events can show how things can quickly change for company.
@clianvXAi That cause Miles Morales wasn't a full game. It was basically DLC sold as a game aka Standalone DLC. Something Sony like to do a lot... Like Lost Legacy, Left Behind, First Light...
@uptownsoul Insomniac Games had received PlayStation 5 development kits early on in the console's development cycle. There was even rumors going there was a Ratchet and Clank in development as a PS5 launch title before the game had been officially announced.
With the features and performance that Miles Morales launched with. That definitely shows a team who had real early access to dev kits, and was able to build the engine along side the console. And didn't just receive a dev kit only a couple month before launch.
I also said Marvel games, not specifically Spider-Man. But considering development cycle and that they have multiple team. One team is actually less than 20 minute from where I live. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a full PS5 in development once Spider-Man was close to release..
@uptownsoul But that game was in development for a while. Probably even before Sony purchased the studio, or before the Insomniac marvel games blow up.
This is great news. I just hope that success of these game dont have a negative effect on the studio, and Insomniac gets suck pumping out Marvel games.
@TheCollector316 There are still plenty of people who are fine with shelling out $60 for games. Not everyone is on a budget and need to use services like Gamepass to try or play games.
@Bagwag82 What games? You mean all the games that are also releasing on PS4. No body just bought the PS5 for games. They bought it cause the hardware makes the games better, and this is a feature makes the games better.
@GamingVeteran I get where you're coming from with 1440P. But if you're buying a $500 console which main selling points are 4k,120hz, and VRR. I highly doubt you also don't have plan on buying TV that accommodate this features...
If Sony bring back PSHome. They'll gonna have to do something really special. PSHome was cool for it time, but now... Not some much. The market is flooded with these style game due to the surge of VR and the metaverse. Now we're even seeing new life in thought to be dead games like Second Life.
PSHome won't be able to offer the full body experience like VRChat, nor will it be able to offer the limitless customization that you see on VRChat or Second life.
@naruball So the GT and Little Big Planet player base is tiny? These are generally two of Sony biggest IP.
But that not how you build confidence in a potential player base. As you scare off people from even attempting to try the game if it wasn't even remotely successful.
Sony has a terrible history of supporting anything online or even remotely "live service" or "GaaS". Anybody remember drawn to death, or how they shut down game servers a year or two after a game release?
They can't even be bothered to make sure their remasters of game actually have the online included as well.
I don't know a company so bad at supporting online games or online modes. Is expecting to release and support 10 live service games...
This is probably why they was fine being purchased. They miss having a Sugar Daddy like in the good old Xbox days... But Microsoft never gave them the freedom. They want to be independent, and still get money like they're a first party studio.
@Fenbops Finally! I was waiting for some to comment on this. Bungie is a terrible developer now. From the way they handled the move to f2p, Destiny legacy content, and what they did to Marty. They aren't even remotely worth it. Bungie has been coasting on their Halo legacy for far too long, and this comments section show it. No body here has any idea how Bungie has been doing business of late.
@Ralizah The Switch port wasn't too much of a shocker. Dying Light was originally supposed to release for PS3 and Xbox 360, so they had already a version designed for those systems power levels. The Switch just gave them extra juice of power they need.
Finally something worth turning on my PS5 for the first time in months. Been mostly enjoying my Switch OLED ( Mario Party, Shin Megami, Pokemon BD) and PC (FH5, Halo, AoE 4). The next few months is gonna be great for PS5 owners.
@NeonPizza If Sony did add a wireless connection for the PSVR2. I doubt the lost would be as big as it is on the Vive Pro 2 with the wireless adapter... Vive Wireless adapter is 5 or 6 years old at this point, and wireless technology had improved a lot since then.
@ThomastheDankEngine Yes. It outsold it at the very end of the generation once the value was actually worth it. But that 85 million is a far cry from 155 million of the PS2, so even if they outsold the Xbox 360. They lost billions to Xbox and allowed them to gain a foothold in the industry.
@NomNom While a Playstation Home on PSVR2 would be cool... It gonna end up being compared to heavily to something like VRChat which is won't stand a chance against straightly due to freedom of VRChat.
@Flaming_Kaiser I'm sure plenty of people still had their PS1 and PS2 games. You are talking about a consoles that sold 102.4 and 155 million respectively. People don't just suddenly get rid of things.
And while the PS3 did get rid of PS2 BC, it still offered PS1 BC all the way up till the Super Sim.
I personally still have all my PS1 and PS2 games tho the console themselves died years ago.
@Subsided Nothing to carry forwarded? Even tho the PS3 launched with backward compatible with PS1 and PS2 games. Millions of gamers was fine with giving up their ability to play their large library of games to jump to platform that offered better stuff.
But you basically are proving my point. Nobody is attached financially, socially, emotionally, and psychologically to a piece of plastic. Only fanboys hold this kinda of mentality. Normal people go where the better value is.
EDIT: And with the way cross platform stuff us heading. Soon our games won't even be locked to single platform. So there be no way to lock anyone in an ecosystem.
@Subsided You say that, but how many people suddenly up and went to the Xbox 360 from the PS2 after the poor launch of the PS3. How many people drop Xbox for Playstation during launch issues of the Xbox One. Millions jump from console to PC every year.
Not surprising. Playstation was literally the only platform that required you to drop hard cash on it. PC gamers was able to get it through either PC gamepass or Ubisoft + and Xbox gamers through gamepass. Even Stadia users was able to just get through Ubisoft +.
@UltimateOtaku91 If you're only paying attention to console market. Of course you haven't heard about Apple, Facebook, Google, or Amazon. Microsoft focuses isn't on consoles any more. It the VR/AR/Metaverse and cloud gaming space that Microsoft is worried about, and these companies are attempting to take hold of it.
Microsoft have also mentioned before that Sony isn't their rivals anymore.
@RevGaming Weak? Far from it games like Bejeweled and Plants vs Zombies are great Casual gaming, and could bring in a lot profit. Sim 4 brings something like $500 million annually, and requires very little up keep. Codemaster could easily give us a Driveclub 2 or another Motorstorm. Respawn is the only studio that can truly go toe to toe with CoD. Maybe they can finally give Playstation a good FPS so that we can finally stop acting like Killzone and Resistance was good. Criterion Games could give Playstation it Forza horizon rival.
EA has a ton of IP other than your NFS, FIFA, and Battlefield that I would like to see return.
Wing Commander, Ultima, a remaster of Dante's Inferno, a new Burnout, a good Dungeon Keeper, Sim City, a new Alice or remaster of first two Alice games... etc. Damn. Remember when EA used to make videos games.
@TheRedComet Sony wouldn't only get Respawn, Dice, and BioWare... Remember that EA literally just purchased code masters last year cough cough former Driveclub and Motorstorm developers cough cough, there also popcap, Criterion Games, Motive Studios, Full circle (Skate), Maxis (Sims)... and like 5 other just support studios

@mikeym Nope. I also hope that it work with PC. PCVR is in a terrible state right now, and could us some fresh competition.

Re: So, It Seems Xbox Really Will Keep Activision Games Like Call of Duty on PS5, PS4
@RevGaming Actually deals like Sunset Overdrive was due Sony wanted to own the IP. Insomniac wanted to keep it. Microsoft let them keep.
Dead Rising was exclusive most due to Microsoft Actually owning a majority stake in the development studio.
The titanfall deal was mostly just due to the success of the 360.

@ryanburnsred I wager PC would be the platform to get this on. Better performance and you get dualsense features.

@Voltan And that probably explains why the Dualshock 4 was favorite controller of last gen... Even tho I own like 20 Xbox one controllers XD

It weird to think that if this game ends up being successful due to the Playstation player base... That any sequel won't end up on Playstation.
