Re: You Can Watch the Entire Opening Hour of Days Gone Now

FaultyDroid

The opening hour of a big story-driven open world game is when it makes its biggest impression on you, surely? Or am I alone in thinking this?

If i've already seen the opening it will lack that wow factor on its first playthrough, so ill give it a miss.

However in an age of elaborate scripted demo's & presentations etc (lookin atchoo NMS, Anthem) gotta give props to Studio Bend for their transparency here, they clearly have a lot of confidence in their product & its refreshing to say the least..!

I had no.3 on the PC & just used it as a house / mansion / estate building game. I couldnt be arsed with the actual people. Much like IRL I guess 🤔

The MyPlayer & MyCareer is designed solely to build a wrestler to take on others online. Take the online element out, & you have a solid 8/9 out of 10 IMO. You can have a better single player 'career' using Universe mode.

Re: Poll: Where Do You Stand on Microtransactions?

FaultyDroid

For me it cheapens the experience. Seeing them in game is a harsh reminder that the developers job is to make money for their publishers, from us gamers.. first & foremost.

There are a few exceptions that continue to support their titles post-release, at no extra cost than the £50 we paid already. The opposite side consist of guys like Ubi / EA who milk their tired-ass franchises every year & cram in as much of this MT nonsense as they see fit.

I feel this is the state of gaming now, & we've come too far for 'voting with your wallet' to make any difference. They may well be optional now, but give it time, & I reckon even AAA single player titles will be designed like mobile games in that all of the good content (that you'll see in tv ads, the E3 presentations etc) will be locked behind a paywall, & unless you fork out the hideous grind will make the game barely worth playing.

This is just MT's.. It isnt even taking into account the ever inflating pre-order bonuses, deluxe editions, gold editions, 'accelerators', season passes etc.

By the time this comes to pass we'll be looking at £60 as a standard pricepoint just for the base title, with no bells & whistles.

@get2sammyb To be fair.. A couple of those smoky-metallic looking one's you guys featured recently were decent, but again they're plain, compared to the crazy one's ive seen for XB1.

I say this, but you can bet your life I still wouldnt splash out for one if they were available :')

Re: Review: FIFA 18 (PS4)

I've been PES ever since the days of ISS on the SNES too.. The FIFA series has always lacked that 'something' that PES just seems to nail on the head. The ball physics, player to player physicality & overall match flow is just superior. FIFA has always won the majority over due to its authentic licenses, officoal endorsements etc but on PESworld you can download the option file to USB stick & give PES all the licensed teams & competitions anyways.

I wasnt taking objection to your opinion, you're entitled to it. My issue was your first sarcastic response to Sammy, which in itself contained no 'actual points' either. If you're in danger of causing yourself physical injury, maybe ignore articles you're unhappy with instead of expressing your displeasure at every turn & baiting the writers?

Back on tpoic.. I'd go as far as saying that I quite like to see a little bias from a fan in reviews.. Sure an argument can be made that its one-sided but a good example that springs to mind was the review of FFXV on Kotaku..

https://kotaku.com/final-fantasy-xv-the-kotaku-review-1789400066

Written by someone with a passion for the series, & no doubt read by thousands who share it. A little bias can make for a great read, & a thorough & fair review too.

@RedMageLanakyn
You cant accuse a reviewer of being biased with a sarcastic comment & then label them snarky for using the same tactics to defend themselves.. C'mon..

As for @get2sammyb being a GT fanboy, why wouldnt PS get a GT fan to review it? He's just as likely to be as critical as anyone else & i'd prefer to read a review of a racing game by someone who has more than just a passing interest.

You just come across like you have a personal problem with his reviews & couldnt resist throwing your bit in.

Re: Of Course ANTHEM Will Have a Beta Before Launch

FaultyDroid

We've learned a thing or two from NMS about scripted demo's.. & a thing or two from ME: Andromeda about Bioware / EA's promises.

Bioware arent the same team that gave us KOTOR, & EA are.. well, they're EA init. Big bombastic videos are very nice, but the beta will tell I guess.

Re: Review: Destiny 2 (PS4)

FaultyDroid

@ShogunRok said in the first post if anyone had any questions, they could fire away. If anyone wanted to know about things that were not touched on just ask politely.. Exactly as @wiiware has done above.. No need to go criticising the review itself, calling it lazy etc. The reviews here are fair & to the point IMO which is all they need to be. Nobody wants to trawl through a soapbox-esque rant about microtransactions when they want to know if a game is worth their money.

Re: Feature: The PlayStation Store's Content Problem

FaultyDroid

@Wormold
I dont think Metacritic scores are reliable at all tbh, much like Steam a lot of negative scores come from people who had a corrupt download or had some other technical issue & instead of waiting for a patch or submitting a ticket they write up a negative 'review' with 1/10 'until they fix it'.. Which is ludicrous.

Re: The Witcher 3 PS4 Pro Patch Is Coming Soon

FaultyDroid

I have a Pro but still on a 1080p set, so I guess i'll wait to see what this does, bout doubt ill see much difference. I was thinking of buying TW3 soon as its always in PSN sales, & even without a patch it still looks incredible IMO.

Re: Site News: Destiny 2 Review - Our Plans and What You Can Expect

FaultyDroid

I'd like to see PushSquare do away with scores completely. Its a bit 'last-decade', in fact much further back really. Your reviews are of a very good standard, to the point, honest, objective, & you dont blather on trying to sound clever. If anything, having a score undermines a good review, & sometimes encourages the reader to skim straight to the score anyways.
