@Anguspuss AC: Black Flag is no gamble buddy, great game.. & im not even much of a fan of the series. Im tempted by Inquisition too but theres four bloody versions?
@Orpheus79V I should have worded that better, sorry mate. I wasnt suggesting ND were making money from the update, just from the first remaster. My issue was that an update of an already remastered game seems pointless to me. I like to see the hardware pushed to its limits, not used to spruce up or re-release old games. Id much rather see full backwards compatibility & play the original title in full nostalgic glory than pay for a remaster. Maybe thats just me.
How many of you bought a next-gen console to play a remastered update of an already remastered three year old PS3 title. Games have gone the same way as the film industry. Why create, when theres quick cash to be made recycling old material.
@hadlee73 Yeah I was under the impression your team mates would either turn or die at a predetermined point in the game regardless of your actions. Either way, it was worth trying to keep them alive just for backup because that game was tough..!
@Neolit
"They expressed themselves in a way that only people high on their creation would. They overpromissed, overspoke etc etc."
I think you're spot on there. They are a small indie team, the hype snowballed, they couldnt believe they were realising their dreams, they didnt know how to downplay it so just went along with it. You can see the moments hesitation before Murrays answer to questions regarding the games features.. such as "will the wildlife eat each other?" & "can you play with your friends?" he just says what he thinks people want to hear, like a rabbit caught in the headlights. Not realising the hole he was digging for himself & his team..
He's straight up lying.. To give the formal announcement maximum impact when it inevitably comes. They proved with Fallout 4 they still cant do shooters, TES is their big moneymaker.
also @TheGZeus, agreed.. CDPR over bethesda right now for sure.
This is gonna happen in the run-up to the release of literally every title within the next year or so. Articles saying "we saw it running on a PS4 Pro with a 4K TV.. & we can confirm it looks stunning..!!"
Jokes aside.. Surely the whole point of VR is experiencing it yourself? Its not something you can put across in a review or on a video. How else are outlets supposed to sell units, other than unboxing new units & letting people have a go? Those units cost them sales, & see no harm in them recouping some of their losses by charging a fiver to let people try it. Its completely new tech, its not like they're charging people to try the latest AAA title.
@Boerewors
100% agree with everything you just said chap.. & EA are either the worst culprits or just the most obvious candidate.. another being 2K with their WWE franchise. Its a sad state of affairs.
@AFCC there will be more maps, but expect to pay for them..
Whats a 'traditional' third person control scheme then, as opposed to what was in RDR? I've never had any issues with the controls in any R* game to be honest.
@Napples
Gotta agree with you there. I'd be very surprised indeed if the visuals are up to the standard seen in those shots, especially in motion. You can tell just by looking those arent actual screencaps.
edit: only the last one looks legit.
@wiiware Not at all, big titles like Witcher 3 & GTA5 id rather play on console as i'd need a decent rig to run them otherwise. I can enjoy the massive indie market on my mid-range PC & games like the new Red Dead, Horizon Zero dawn etc on my PS4 not having to worry about forking out for a new GPU. As @AD-80 said, the last Red Dead didnt even make it onto PC.. I know what procedurally generated means btw I was just referring to NMS..
@kyleforrester87 The phrase 'procedurally generated' no longer has the appeal to me that it used to, after a certain title released earlier this year..
@Napples Yeah i know, I game on PC too mainly for the mods, & the 4X strategy exclusives etc. The whole masterrace thing is embarrassing to say the least. I bought a PS4 because I could play online with my buddies & not worry about scripters etc, or have to deal with missing .dll's & whatnot. I dont doubt that the new RDR will come to PC eventually.
PC players do their utmost to distance themselves from the rest of the gaming community with their superiority complex then are the first to complain when a title is console exclusive.. Even just at launch. They get a sh*t ton of exclusives we dont & have the lions share of indie products too.. Cant have it all, chaps.
As its stil technically unconfirmed maybe they are in the process of changing ownership? Its a shame either way, Sleeping Dogs was awesome, a last-gen open world title Mafia 3 could learn a few things from.
@itshoggie I hope it centres around Dutch's gang too. I can see it utilising GTAV's character switching system too.. The multiplayer posse's.. New & improved dead-eye mechanics.. bloody hell this is gonna ruin my life.
@NoCode23 Calling for weapons delivery on the fly is not great, the game is set in the 60's.. Also the growing trend for 'tagging' enemies through walls like Robocop is starting to worry me.
@NinjaWaddleDee I was going to ask the same thing. I like the look of this but dont wanna be baffled by references to past characters & story-arcs in every cutscene.
A racism disclaimer would put me off too. All that would suggest to me is that any controversial content was put in purely for shock value. An 18 cert on the cover is enough.
Some people really need to let go. Just because titles have been badly optimised in the past doesn't mean its a foregone conclusion it will happen again and again for all eternity and beyond. We gamers aren't the only ones who can learn from mistakes you know Give them a break.
Beth must have been like "um, Sony we kinda promised mod support way back when Todd announced Fallout 4 at E3 last year.. you're making us look kinda Sean Murray here.."
@LieutenantFatman Oh I 100% agree.. Wasn't there something with EA and IGN a couple of years ago? I can't imagine any scenario where some randomer with a popular video channel is given a pre-release copy of a high-profile title and is allowed to say whatever they want about it, good or bad. I'd imagine they're just told to demo the game, not give an opinion or final score. Either way, even without commentary those watching will be able to see for themselves if the game is what they expect of a 'finished' release.
@LieutenantFatman Considering a review code can be as restricted as they want in terms of content, it does make you wonder. Especially since a Youtuber may not play the game as intended & just run around causing chaos, exposing potential bugs etc.
