Following rumours that surfaced earlier this year, somewhat-sandbox detective title L.A. Noire is making the jump to PlayStation 4, Rockstar Games has confirmed. The original released on the PlayStation 3 all the way back in 2011, and it was reasonably well received by critics and gamers alike.
The current-gen edition will boast a higher resolution, some reworked visuals, and it'll be playable in 4K on PS4 Pro. It'll be sleuthing onto Sony's latest system in just a couple of months, on the 14th November.
Will you be dipping back into some detective work? Get that notepad out in the comments section below.

you know what the most unexpected thing about this new is, that it's coming out on the Nintendo Switch too
wasn't expecting that
I really enjoyed it first time around so i'll definitely be getting it.
This is great news. I loved it on PS3 but have not revisited it recently. Being a huge film noir fan this game was a dream come true. Here's hoping framerate is also tweaked for this version.
At least for Switch owners it will be new.
No!
For people who don't like to click thru:
L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files for HTC Vive delivers seven of the original engrossing, self-contained cases from L.A. Noire rebuilt specifically for virtual reality, blending breathtaking action with true detective work to deliver an unprecedented interactive experience.
L.A. Noire for the Nintendo Switch features the complete original game and all additional downloadable content, with specific enhancements including a Joy-Con mode with gyroscopic, gesture-based controls, HD rumble and new wide and over-the-shoulder camera angles, plus contextual touch screen controls for portable detective work.
L.A. Noire for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One delivers the complete original game and all additional downloadable content with a range of technical enhancements for greater visual fidelity and authenticity, including enhanced lighting and clouds, new cinematic camera angles, high resolution textures and more. Plays natively in 1080p for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, and stunning 4K for PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, these versions capture the grit and grime of the City of Angels like never before.
I don't think anyone was expecting this in any shape or form to even exist.
The Switch is unexpected.
I love LA Noire. Played it in black and white and it compelled me more than any other open world game of the PS3 era. Great soundtrack too.
Nope. It’s not a good deal , they could remaster other IP s like midnight club, Red dead , or even GTA IV !! But this? HD remaster? Really?
I tell you why , because game didn’t sold well and now they want a payback from us. Good news for switch but worse news for other consoles
Didn't finish it first time around so depends on price.
Of ALL the games they could've remastered, they chose this snorefest? Yay, walking around in circles until a bell chimes. Gambling on what is the right interrogation, only to confirm your character must have a split personality either way. All in glorious 4K...!
Granted, the animated faces were kind of a cool novelty back then, but the game ultimately wasn't all that great.
Where's the Red Dead Redemption port? It had a following 10x that of L.A Noire.. & would be so well recieved given the sequel is on the way.
I fail to see the logic behind this at all.
Well that's a surprise. I enjoyed the game when it first came out but not sure I'm that eager to jump back into it again (although I'm a sucker for Rockstar games and will likely buy at launch).
Would've preferred a new story or new IP altogether but I guess those things take longer to make.
Hmm, HTC Vive gets VR Case Files. I wonder why PSVR was left out of that option. Maybe it will be added?
For some reason this game was on my mind today 4-5 hours ago and I was thinking of it being on PS4 and then I went on twitter just now and saw the announcement, creepy lol
@Bluetrain7 probably because psvr isn't good enough to do it at a high enough resolution and frame rate. Unless it's just a timed of exclusive for now. I would have bought it, no vr support ill just stick with my ps3 copy.
Was a bit of a shallow game at the time.. Not really seeing the need for a remaster tbh
@FaultyDroid I have to agree with you a bit, Red Dead Redemption Remastered is a no brainer! easy $ money $ but I suspect they will do something similar to what happened with Call Of Duty MW2 remastered, they will probably include the Red Dead Redemption Remaster with special edition versions of Red Dead Redemption 2 only and then later on it will be sold separately. The game isn't even available on PC, only on PS3 and Xbox360 so it's definitely overdue!
@solocapers Sure, it could likely could not run it at the same specs, but it is likely capable of displaying it properly at lower settings. I love my PSVR and I know it does not reach the technical performance level of its competitors, but I hope it is just a timed exclusive before that version comes over.
Strange that they haven't included the VR spin off, makes the package much less compelling.
When it came out it was a huge dissapointment never even bothered to finish it just got bored. Should have come to PSVR. Sony could easily have thrown money at it to get the deal done.
I liked this game but it boggles my mind why R* won't remaster Red Dead Redemption. They'd surely make buckets full of silver.
I enjoyed the game alot but never finished it because I would get distracted by other games. Might get it and finally finish it.
I can see a day where I'm using my shiny new PS5 to play all the great PS4 games I missed because I was too busy playing all the great PS3 games I missed...
I will buy this if it gets ps vr support. If not I'll probably leave it im afraid. Once was enough. And I enjoyed it first time around. But knowing the cases and how they end kind of makes playing again a little pointless
Morgan: I like your @$$!
Phelps: You're lying Morgan!
Awesome news. Will wait to see how it performs on the Switch before deciding which platform.
@DLB3 I honestly wouldn't count on it. It's one of the biggest selling points of the backwards compatibility streaming service, PS Now. If they lose that what's left, Ni No Kuni? I dunno.
Noire looked and performed well on my PS3 back in 2011. Some of the crime solving is interesting but overall i found the game boring and at times made me sleepy.
The large game world is mostly wasted. Then there is the protaganist without a life away from his job. A home, girlfriend, off duty activities. Something to build his character.
I will probably never finish Noire. Too bad Noire is not more like the movie L. A. Confidential.
Fallout New Vegas and all dlc remastered is what will get me interested in a remaster.
@FaultyDroid An oft-repeated rumour is that the development of RDR was so troubled from a technical perspective that doing any sort of release of the game would essentially require doing a from-scratch remake, like CB:NST. Now, I don't know how true that is, and it could just be that Rockstar is waiting till RDR2's launch to release a remaster as a lead-in, but I'm dubious about seeing one.
Loved it on PS3, but it's not a game I'm interested in re-playing on PS4. I'd happily take a proper sequel, though.
The big news here the Switch is getting Rockstar support.
I never did get around to this one so I might get it for the Switch as long as it's up to par with the PS4 version.
€ 50 for the Switch version. Poor Rockstar needs our money because GTA V sold few copies...
Yay I like this quirky game!
@DLB3 I'm honestly expecting a RDR1 Remaster announcement around Winter 2017 or Spring 2018.
@sinalefa why I played it on the PS3- or do you think switch owners have never had another video game console ever 🤔
But,but i alreasy beat it. If they improved the players movement i could double dip.
The facial animation is still unmatched to this day! Silly unfulfilling ending.
When I played this game on PS3 I'd hijack Firetrucks and assume that everybody I interrogated was guilty. It was interesting.
