The first expansion for Souls-like shooter Remnant II will release on 14th November 2023, it's been announced. Given the name The Awakened King, the DLC adds a new storyline and a set of dungeons and areas to go with it, another Archetype in The Ritualist, and new items, enemies, and bosses. You can see it in action in the trailer above, with the expansion priced at $9.99. The Ultimate Edition of the game already comes with access to it and a further two DLCs launching next year.

"In a brand new storyline, survivors must uncover the secrets behind The One True King by exploring a mysterious new area within the world of Losomn," a press release reveals. "In this strange new location, survivors will traverse new dungeons, acquire powerful equipment, meet unexpected allies and face new threats in their adventure to reach The One True King and defeat him once and for all." More details on the new Archetype will be shared closer to release, but The Ritualist is described as "a master of pain and suffering" who utilises status effects.

The DLC includes new weapons, mods, amulets, and rings, and pairs them with new enemies and bosses. "Mysterious threats and survivors, of unknown origin, emerge from the ocean depths and roam the streets bringing new challenges for all players."

The Awakened King is the first of three expansions planned for Remnant II, with the second and third expected to arrive in 2024. A DLC bundle will be available for $24.99, or you can grab the Ultimate Edition to get the base game and all upcoming content at once. In our Remnant II PS5 review, we awarded the game a 7/10 and concluded: "Navigation is more difficult than it needs to be, while the UI leaves a lot to be desired. In the heat of the action, though, Remnant II is a great, satisfying shooter that allows for lots of different team compositions through deep character customisation."
