Street Racer on the SNES was amazing and I think I played it more than Mario Kart. I'll probably just go back and play it on my SNES with a CRT TV though if I want to return to it rather than this collection, we'll see.
I support Three Fields where I can, as they are a relatively small team and don't have the budget that other developers do. I bought Dangerous Driving, Dangerous Golf and the two Danger Zone games they released.
You can tell a lot of love has been poured into their games, though for some I think they appear too low budget, meaning they are overlooked which is a shame.
I know you shouldn't just buy any old rubbish but I fear they could be one game from closing down if not a commercial success as they took a particularly long time with this one.
@iamthebull1973 Yes, because owning a Series X is really something to brag about isn't it with what Microsoft are (or aren't) doing these days in the gaming and console space.
Not exactly sure why you chose to attack me with a childish comment like that really, and especially two months after the story has been and gone.
I work hard to be able to own what I do, and I enjoyed being able to play Xbox and Playstation exclusives without waiting, so maybe stop being so disrespectful just because you're hidden behind a screen and it's easy to write any old rubbish. I'm sure you couldn't care any less, but the laptop is for development work and the ability to use Steam, GOG and Epic as I'd rather play most games on the sofa with a controller unless there is a big visual boost and/or better immersive experience to be had.
Don't waste any effort replying again as you're blocked and I won't see it.
I'm waiting for the trilogy to be available before I play or buy any of them. I'm waiting for and hoping for what I expect to be an inevitable trilogy physical release to get some people buying the games multiple times.
If the AI enhances the workstream of an artist, programmer or other developer rather than replacing jobs, then I am ok with tools used for assisting and streamlining work, especially if it is something they aren't so fond of doing or is time consuming.
I use it occasionally for my own work and it has been a great help with giving ideas and coding knowledge for websites and projects. It definitely hasn't replaced my own experience, just enhanced and saved me time on a few things which I'm grateful for.
I echo others in saying Rayman Origins and Legends were wonderful games. Really enjoyed completing them a lot, and even got every single achievement in the Xbox version of Legends - not easy!
When I saw that pig in the CE, I couldn't believe it. It's one thing having something like that in the (or a) game but another to create a figure/statue with that look. Horrible!
Not for me, but if anyone else likes it and wants it, then I won't be judging.
I really hope this does well for them, and they can keep making games for as long as they wish to. They are a small team making games they are passionate about.
You can tell the team and the budget aren't the biggest, but the love they pour into their games is clear.
If the steelbook imagery freaks me out, I'm not sure if I'll manage to get through this very well! Still, I want it anyway 😊
I'm not amazing with horror, yet I'm always drawn to such games. What I won't do though is play a game like this in the dark/night time AND on my own, I need someone with me if I'm going to play at night.
@PuppetMaster I don't disagree. Unfortunately, due to my age I grew up during that era myself and paid 70 for Virtua Racing on the Mega Drive/Genesis and regularly paid 50-60 for some of the more expensive Mega Drive, SNES and N64 releases. I don't remember paying that much for games on any generation or platform after that, so it is a fair point.
I love what they include and I'll get one of the editions physically, no doubt about it. I suspect they might have paid a not insignificant amount of money (for their size) to use Terminator licensing, so if it means paying a little more to get this, then fine.
I think for some though, it'll raise an eyebrow as people are conditioned now to expect certain things. People will see a relatively prompt 2D game and shy away from this until it gets a price reduction. I hope it does really well, as we need more games like this, especially considering the state of the industry.
@PuppetMaster 43 GBP on the surface appears to be a lot for the type of game it is, and probable length, but I have no doubt it'll be a great game.
I ordered the online exclusive edition from Reef directly, but cancelled it a little while ago as I thought 80+ GBP was a little much, even though it is a nice edition.
@Glorfindel One of my favourite games. The artwork is just absolutely perfect and I really hope they either release a sequel or new game.
Looking through socials and whatnot, I can't find anything much from them at all in years, so I hope they are just keeping quiet rather than anything bad.
@REALAIS £40 more than this exact SKU cost last year when it was available. I'm not talking about an uplift on this compared with the standard product.
Maybe you and @themightyant should understand the details before you try to be funny.
@zhoont Feeling similar. I have waited this long to play it already, that if I could know in six months to a year there would be even more graphics options (especially more detail and frame rate with PSSR upscaling) I would go for it. At the moment I can either play it on my PS5 Pro, Series X or 3070ti-based laptop and I'm not sure what to choose.
@Quintumply It sounds like you hint upon it from writing "but animation work and some odd designs left us a little cold.", and I wondered if this relates to animation on the main character you control, as I watched some gameplay recently and it looked unfinished, maybe a bit stiff even just the walking animation.
Another reason to have a physical copy, unless they force you online to play or update? You get the choice now to have this in your game with the disc install.
@Onearmbandit Funny you say that, I used to play this with my friend in the local pub and I really hurt my hand on the machine once. I think I either hit the bottom edge of the cabinet with full force, or whatever was under the screen, which I seem to think was a metal bar of some shape.
Stopped playing after that as it was quite brutal lol.
@Oram77 If that happened, I think I'd play it on the Pro. Interested to know how the game plays on a console vs the PC with regards to the controls and how well CDPR mapped the functionality over from PC to a controller.
I am one of the lucky few that despite really looking forward to the original release of the game, I avoided playing it knowing that it would be improved for a long time to come. I'll be able to play it in the best state possible, now the only decision to make is whether to play it on my PS5 Pro, Series X or mid-tier gaming laptop (i7 with a 3070ti - mobile version obviously).
@Czar_Khastik Just spotted on eBay the Asia English release has an English front and back cover. I have cancelled my Amazon Spain order and ordered with Play Asia.
I have a Switch copy coming from Italy and one from Spain eventually, though I have seen on Play Asia it suggests the 'cover' is in English. Might be a third purchase incoming!
@Czar_Khastik Definitely nothing coming from Bandai Namco Europe for a PS5 edition, and the Switch physical is only in selected countries, as you may have noticed from checking yourself.
I have opted for a Switch copy, and I'm hoping the inlay is in English, as I have OCD about that kind of thing! 😂
@Michael2008ish It's a series of games you can buy which were released in the arcades, at a very simple level. No streaming or services, just buy the release you want to.
I have no others but this one which I bought today as I love the original Ridge Racer, Ridge Racer 2 and Ridge Racer Revolution, I'm not bothered about any after that. It's the colours, music, announcer, simplicity and original nostalgia that make these for me.
Rave, Rage, Type 4 and so on are a bit plain in comparison.
Is it just me that prefers the PS1 version? It definitely gives me that lovely Ridge Racer feel I want, but maybe it's the original nostalgia from owning and playing the PS1 version back in my childhood which makes me want to play that one instead.
I think the extra content of the home version helps, with the Devil car in T.T. for example, and that you aren't rushed through menus. It's understandable with an arcade game but I'm not a fan of that.
It's a shame if they didn't bring back the PS1 boot up sounds. Sounds like they didn't, as I agree with some others that the themes weren't that great when you were actually in the menus.
I would like to get more invested, but I'm still a physical game buyer, and with the cost of some of these digital PS VR2 games I was hoping they would get a physical release. I doubt it though, so I'll probably pick up the likes of Horizon COTM and Metro when they are in a sale.
