Re: EA Confirms Heavy Layoffs, Titanfall Game Cancelled

EfYI

***** EA! I said it as early as yesterday, their stupid subscription service gives away games virtually for free and now the developers pay the price.

Only a trillion dollar company who is allowed into the sacred, once walled garden of a competitor who cultivated a culture of buying to support, can have a ridiculous subscription service that isn't sustainable, and even then said developer will also layoff staff, slowly but surely.

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered (PS5) - The Largely Fantastic Revival of a Landmark RPG

EfYI

Brilliant review - I read about a unicorn plaguing another journalist's playthrough by following him around, being invincible and generally a hostile menace. Apparently, the creature was considered his mount, so it explains how it could keep up with appearances.

Also, boring dungeons should just teleport/catapult you out of the end immediately. Like press 'X' to return to surface.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Didn't Get Big DLC Because It's 'Boring' to Make

EfYI

I humbly accept their substantial contributions toward the betterment of the base game, but I would have loved to see the base game be expanded in feasible ways. If DLC were just another map, another story and so on, I'd be less interested.

I LOVE DLC that changes the base game. I think Mass Effect 2 is a prime example of this. Maybe the best example ever.

That said, I bought Metro: Exodus DLC by mistake thinking it improved the somewhat double AA-experience of main game, but it was a whole new adventure that seemed pretty cool when trying out the start of it.

Re: PS5 RPG Expedition 33 Has Some of the Highest User Ratings Ever

EfYI

People are making it hard to just wait for it to appear on PS Plus or a subjectively attractive offer.

Maybe my LG TV will let me get it for free via Xbox GamePass Trial. I wonder what companies like Microsoft or EA pay for games to come to their services.... it feels like stealing (from devs) when using their services.

There should be a law that stipulated what each instance of use with a game on a subscription service yields the developers. Like. What do they get just from me A) downloading B) opening the game and C) playing for more than say two hours and D) what if you "complete" a game or play it long enough for the average player that plays all of it finishes. The actual reward scheme of having a game on a subscription remains shrouded in mystery.

Re: Days Gone Remastered (PS5) - The Definitive Version of a True Fan-Favourite

EfYI

@Northern_munkey

It was a joke, layered cake. Or is it only upstanding felons that get to criticize/defend other felons in your world of logic? In my neck of the world woods, plenty of men has entered the correctional facilities as good men and came out as even better men.

A vigilante and a person acting out of self-defense isn't that different in terms of morality. Though, one very important difference is that one is forced and one has chosen his/her actions. Most acting in self-defense never have to face any litigation.

Re: Days Gone Remastered (PS5) - The Definitive Version of a True Fan-Favourite

EfYI

Correction! They did it for the love of their job. One which remains on the balance if they don't get their ducks in a row veeeeeeeery soon.

Nevertheless, this game comes recommended by real men.

Don't worry, I asked one before writing this. It is full of hellish creatures to best in a fun and genuinely enthralling zombie and post apocalypse romp!

Re: UK Sales Charts: Expedition 33 Debuts in Second Place, Almost All Sales for PS5 Version

EfYI

Playstation gamers are basically funding Xbox game pass and making sure it is profitable. You see the green xbots rushing to the scene to sing the praises of mediocre games so that they A) get to have them for a mere pittance B) can stomp newcomers in case of MP and C) ensure that they get new games from the developers.

I don't think gamers will revise their spending, but my conscience bids me say what happens when they shell out a 100 dollars for early access to Forza for example🤦

Or when they spend hundreds of hours/dollars on predatory/grindy games with the narrative heft of wet cardboard.

Me, myself, I am living out my best life as a Slytherin in Hogwarts Legacy. The graphics are TERRIBLE and crossgen, but at least there's some reverence to the source material. A 7/10 experience well worth it if you're on extra.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 578

EfYI

Update:

I am starting to wish that Hogwarts would get the TLOU-treatment and get a graphical upgrade that says goodbye to its PS3/PS4-era graphics. It is an okay game mired in technical limitations, and it sold like wildfire, so hopefully the sequel will ditch old hardware and be geared for an amazing and polished version of Hogwarts everyone deserves.

I think the next game should have a slightly younger character and a more Persona-esque structure (with more freedom) to how you go about your day learning magic. I know that it just Harry Potter-rehash, but it could work because Persona also takes that formula and nails it with a different cast every time. They could also change settings and leave Hogwarts for one of the other schools.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 578

EfYI

I am playing Hogwarts Legends and it is NOT GREAT on a portal. Or my home connection is crappy, but when I play GOW:Rag it looks PHENOMENAL on both Portal and TV.

The game itself is quite fun though. I was a huge Potterhead when the story was new and fresh and so a whole new adventure is quite good. I am a perfectionist Slytherin, but want to maybe restart or have a side character as a bumbling fool of a Hufflepuff in order to fail everything that can be failed.

Re: Indiana Jones PS5 Is Selling Faster Than on Xbox and PC, Claims Analysts

EfYI

I wonder if the deals to put Indiana Jones, Clair Obscure and Oblivion on PS Plus has already been made or will be done when sales taper off.

Like how far ahead in time are games booked in to the service? Maybe later than I think, compared to Game Pass which seems to be pretty early in a games' development to sort of hedge the developer's bets or because they belong to a poor trillion dollar company.

Re: Massive PS Plus Clearout Announced for May, 22 Games Leaving

EfYI

Off-topic: Some day, I'll play on my PSVR2 headset. I have a lot of games just begging me to play them.

The truth probably is that Sony Playstation supports PSVR2 like an unemployed bum on the streets with a beard rash would support Paris Hilton's wants and needs (in the bizarre reality where she is bitterly dependent on said bum). Like, he's trying in his own way, but it'll never be enough.

And meanwhile I just bought a month of extra to steal away the experience of GOW: Ragnarok which I just finished and is a 10/10 WOWza game and started on Hogwarts which looks like absolute dog ***** in comparison. Like... did they even try? It will probably take a while before I ever see something as spectacular as GOW: Rag ..... and I have KCD2 between my greedy, grubby hands.

Re: Ghost of Yotei Gets PS5 Release Date, Trailer, Pre-Order Details

EfYI

The story-trailer confused me: Why is woman sitting down, when it would be much more polite to stand up, like these upstanding gentlemen are!

They even gave her a sword as compensation for unluckily killing the worst parts, arguably, of her family, so she seems ungrateful to boot!

But okay, maybe it's just a side character, because it seems pretty obvious we get to play as the charming rogue greeting her by the door. Seems like quality answering-the-door-gameplay to me. We don't get many of those.

Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (PS5) - Daring, Quirky RPG Is an Absolute Must-Play

EfYI

What a triumph for Sandfall Studios!

It is a boon for the fans of gaming that weird experiences like this one can, like you write, be a sublime experience.

I wonder what holds it back from garnering a 10/10, @LiamCroft - is it really the technical execution of lip-syncing?

My biggest problem with a title like this is its inclusion on Game Pass - that means I should just wait for it to land on PS Plus, because they showcase a willingness to quickly bring it to subscription services and those are just fundamentally cheaper than buying digital games.

So, looking forward to seeing this get better, if they so choose, through DLC and then I'll be ready to experience it on PS Plus.

Re: Oblivion Remastered Out Now on PS5, Price and Download Size Revealed

EfYI

@Balaam_

Do you really think that Sony Playstation would ever erase your (well, mine and everyone else's) digital owned games?

I have a digital console, but I will definitely try and buy the PS6 with a disc drive or maybe even get one for my current launch digital edition-console. The thing is, though, physical games in Scandinavian has almost died out and are mostly bought online (ironically).

Re: PS5 Suddenly a Hot Product in Japan, But as a Rental

EfYI

I am at a loss for words regarding the UK offer.

I can see, sort of, the short-term appeal of renting a PS5 for 7 dollars, but then you have to rent the game (and the TV unless you have a TV.)

But the Flex/Ravlo scheme is absolutely absurd. BUY your PS5 and then sell it, and you are waaaay better off. WHO in their right mind would lease say a Pro and an Edge for ANY of the offers given? (Are there tax write-offs for rentals in the UK😅?)

Re: Oblivion Remastered: Everything We Know Ahead of Its Announcement This Week

EfYI

Marketing campaign, ostensibly a free one unless they paid the big sites for their coverage. It has worked. What game in recent time has garnered more coverage based on the assertion that this is super secret? This is going to be a cash cow for Bethesda who didn't even lift a finger.

Somehow, somewhere Todd Howard is miming a presentation in a nice, new leather jacket in front of a mirror looking smug.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 577

EfYI

@LikelySatan

Well, no harm in trying if you have Extra anyways. It is sort of incredible that they offer this game for Extra in the first place. The offers on this game digitally are often more than a month's sub anyways so the value for Extra is absolutely there. If I hadn't declared holy war on my backlog, I'd sub for a year, but I am trying to force myself to actually play my library. With Hogwarts and Ragnarok, my resolve broke😂

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 577

EfYI

Playing GOW: Ragnarok is an experience of absolute ectasy in terms of the visuals of that game!

It is BEYOND gorgeous and to think it released in 2022!! I don't think graphics need to improve beyond this, and I am streaming the base PS5 mind you.

Having waited to play Ragnarok and Spiderman 2 seems like the best decision I have made this generation. It counter acts the feelings you might get about a failed generation of nothing but cancellations and remaster-"slob" that many suffer from.

Re: Switch 2 Fans Can’t Stand Seeing Nintendo’s New Console Compared to the 12-Year-Old PS4

EfYI

@ButterySmooth30FPS

Well, let's cut a little slack for our weakling brothers who prefer silly children's games.... damnit I just spewed nonsense. I will restart: Let's understand the fine people that love their world class gameplay and innovative hybrid console! Nobody will accept they are buying tech that's ancient. 12 years in electronics with something called Moore's law sets expectations higher.

Besides, the switch 2 can do a lot more than a stationary PS4-clonk can. So, the comparison isn't useful or correct.

They'll be happy about their purchase and good for them.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (PS5) - Globe-Trotting Adventure Just Got Even Better on PS5

EfYI

@wildcat_kickz
@x3King84

It is fair in a business perspective. And sure, let's call it value. For me the value proposition isn't there, but for Sony it has to be since they're allowing it to compete with their own and other 3rd parties' games.

I agree that reports seem to disqualify Game pass as a sustainable business. If Xbox could sell their games for 70 dollars per game on Xbox store, I think they would.

I am just stating my opinion that there's a discrepancy in price points between systems, and as a consumer I am going to have to politely decline trying MachineHeads awesome game even though I know I would love it for this and many other reasons.
