Supermassive Games has released a new trailer, and revealed a brand new feature, for its upcoming sci-fi horror narrative adventure, Directive 8020.
The trailer takes us aboard the Cassiopeia once again, where the crew must deal with a horrifying alien threat that mimics them.
A scanner device is able to detect any trace of alien DNA, and it's a pretty tense scene that puts us in mind of horror classic The Thing.
New to the Dark Pictures series in this game is a feature called Turning Points. Using this system, players are able to rewind the action to important points in the story, where you can make a different decision or search for collectibles you've missed.

Much like the previous entries in the series, Directive 8020 is a branching narrative with multiple endings, and this new system gives you the ability to explore its various paths.
However, if you'd rather not have the ability to rewind, you can play the game in Survivor Mode, which disables the Turning Points system and makes you live with your choices and their outcomes.

These games have always been my guilty pleasure, expect The Devil in me.... that was just bad.
Great, because I tend to make a lot of bad decisions in games
its got the branching narrative tree like Detroit become human had loved that.
looking forward to this
@Oram77 didnt mind The devil in me platinumed it. I think man of medan was the worst dark pictures game
@trev666 They're all bad imo, terrible facial expressions and terrible narratives like the silent hill inspired one where none of the decisions practically ever mattered.
I love these games, but won't be using that system at all. The fun is making horrible choices and watching the characters suffer.
@Oram77 That one was one of my favorites, but mainly because I've read a lot about HH Holmes over the years. Plus Paul Kaye is one of my favorite actors. But to each their own!
I prefer the studio’s non-Dark Pictures games, personally. Loved Until Dawn and The Quarry, but all the Dark Pictures games I’ve played have been just ok.
Really looking forward to this game. I thought the trailer was pretty decent...
I think they should focus on more Until Dawn, The Quarry production quality than Dark Pictures titles.
I put on ny VR helmet and let The Quarry play out like a movie. It was utter, utter madness. I remember laughing like a maniac and being at utter disbelief at what transpired. I don't think I made it to the end of the game, so I'd be keen to revisit or experience this new less campy story that seems to have real weight.
Nope the fun for me is being haunted by my bad decisions. Normally I lose a character or two but IIRC, I think for The Devil In Me no one survived. Whoops. Always wish I had friends that were into these games. Would be fun to play as group.
@Oram77 devil in me bad? Sure jan
@trev666 man of Medan worst? 😆 better next time jan
@Scottyy until dawn is done since almost 11 years move on
@Muscleblackcop
And they didn't anything remotely close to that caliber in terms of production value; so they didn't move on too, more like moved back. Am I right?
@Muscleblackcop I mean, it was....
btw my favourite is House of Ashes.
@Oram77 ahh ok
@Scottyy noo
