I am somewhere in the middle of a Divinity 2-run, newly started and newly abandoned. If the rumour is true, I might upgrade if they provide a path for that.
The PS5 Pro should be good for 7 more years unless they make modern games much more complicated than they are now.
Maybe Sony Playstation knows this and are pivoting to offering the same flexibility as the main competitor, Nintendo. Maybe the PS5 Pro is already powerful enough when optimized properly to be the most powerful console for years to come.
The Pro pricetag isn't bad if you trade in the original PS5 via a website for used things for sale.
The upgrade is enough to not want to go back once you pull the trigger. In two years time, it might be 'too late' to upgrade, but right now I'm half expecting it to be as good as a PS6.
Even if the PS6 punches above the PS5 Pro, it is a question of whether or not the improvements are enough to move consumers toward consumption.
I finished Banished: Ghosts of New Eden going for resurrection. I don't know how much fun I would get out of another run going for ascension, so it it shelved for now.
Forspoken is disappearing on Plus together with Star Wars, so I've started them up. Star Wars is really fun. Forspoken has a weird charm to it, and so I might finish the story but I hit a snag where it is difficult to progress.
Forspoken seems like a game that was finished 2/3 and then that two-thirds was polished a lot. The map is huge, as are the cities but it is also weirdly devoid of life and detail. The combat is fun, traversal is okay, but I keep trying to climb everywhere and it is clearly not what the game intended. The writing is fine - the criticism leveraged on this game's dialogue was unfair.
Alan Wake 2 trying to finish this game. A good get for PS Plus and inventive through and through.
By far, the biggest flaw in the PS5 ecosystem is the propensity for stick drift and lack of battery life in the Dualsense-controller.
Consumers are not protected against this and always end up coughing up 100 dollars or so for a replacement. I've had 2-3 controllers develop stick drift in this generation, and it is planned obsolescence which makes it come off as greedy. G.I.V.E. U.S. H.A.L.L.E.F.F.E.C.T.
I've not shopped at all - can't keep up with the entertainment I already have access to if I'm honest.
To an extent, the criticism I often levy at Microsoft for training their audience not to buy is exactly what happens to me when I subscribe to PS Plus.
I think if we look at the numbers of owned consoles and the amount of sales on huge, amazing games like KCD II and Ghost of Yotei, we can see the impact of online games, and free-to-play games as a service too.
I can't believe you guys fell for the same trick in the space of mere months. Your articles about "mysterious updates teasing" has been wishful thinking at best.
It could just be a very good game - if it is I think it will survive even if it is a product with a dependence on capturing and sustaining your attention in an attention-based economy where they've already been labelled by a lot of the chronically online consumers.
You could say that Bungie has paid the wrong people if they wanted this to succeed no matter the quality of the game. Why? Because whoever they've paid for marketing and promotion haven't made sure that this game is viewed in a positive light.
It is not my month, but the last 5 consequtive months has brought me titles I wanted to at least try, so I shouldn't need anything to play - in fact I'm in a race against time to buck up and play some of the VR titles and Forspoken that is going the way of the dodo on PLUS this month.
Forspoken has a weird charm that I like, and it was, if you can believe it, Xena, The Warrior Princess, that brought this game to my attention.
This game is probably (one of) the best driving games/VR games ever made, and frankly the Spec III sounds like a massive update, and I might just get the Power Pack but why would I ever go for a 24-hour endurance run?
Yeah, platinum is just a waste of time, If you ask me. I put 60 hours into Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden and I just checked the list of trophies I still needed and they are all predatorily grindy in nature. Ain't nobody got time for dat.
The trophy list is probably good for making sure you experience EVERYTHING, and the plat isn't impossible if I chose to replay the game for a different ending. But I know now that it would have to be in at least a year's time.
Are there easy to follow guides for plats? Like, how to best go about it from A to Z?
I am playing The Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden as I have been doing for about two weeks, and the game's pace is now down to a grinding halt because I keep getting sidetracked by big and small Haunting Cases which are grrat, but the amount of it is a little overwhelming. It also stifles the pace of the game, and I didn't want to spoil myself in learning how much you have to do and whether it actually changes anything.
I am still enjoying it, but a 8/10 is a fair grade, and were it paced differently I think it would have remained a 9/10 for me.
At this point, the rumoured handheld seems to come a little too late - people who want portables surely has bought a Switch or PC handheld by now, or will be sticking with their Portal.
I have a bulletproof plan for Sony to conquer Japan: Release your handheld with the name Nimtendo Swich 3. They won't be able to help themselves!
At this point, your readership is desperate to find out how many 2K+ PC rigs have been sold in Japan, and why Sony isn't doing more to sell 2K+ PC rigs.
I'll leave you guys with a thought: I am so tired of the missing games and absent graphics on PS that I, Sir Tobywell Grimsworth, swear and do declare that forthwith, and with retroactive effect dating at least one console generation, I shall not own a PS6!
Survival On Mars is weird imo. I can't get access to it, but chances are I wouldn't play much of it anyways. Never made it far in that waterworld survival game (the famous one which sequel is mired in controversy) because I couldn't be bothered.
I am in a race against time to start up Star Wars and Arcade VR..... 1st world problems are real!
1. My time with the hardware (PS5 +PS5 PRO, dualsense)
2. My time with the peripheral hardware (Portal + PSVR2)
3. First Party output, Second Party Output, Third Party Output.
4. Sony Playstation's strategizing and focus + results
5. PS Plus
As I have had the digital PS5 since launch and the PS5 Pro for a while, I can genuinely say that each machine has served my needs par excellence. I think that the visual output delivered by my Pro and new, vibrant LCD-Screen is the most 'bang for the buck' in modern gaming. 10/10
The portal and PSVR2 has provided me with gaming in niche ways, and become a trusty travel buddy. Immersing myself or lying in bed are great alternatives to comfortable couch-sitting. The technology is impressive and inviting. I have too much to play to say that I've used PSVR2 as much as I'd want, though. 9/10
The output by first party has largely been a little disappointing in terms of potential - that blind gold rush for live service titles is the source of much of my anger. Nevertheless, I have more games to play than I can find time for. My own strategy was to not rush through games (nor do I think I even can do that with how they're designed) has made sure I at ALL TIMES have had true next-gen experiences at the ready - so no show studios like Bend and Naughty Dog is almost a relief at this point. Second and third party support has been 10/10. We're living in a Golden Age of Gaming.10/10
In terms of Playstation's overall strategy, Jim Ryan's Playstation killed off the XBOX or left it for dead anyways. Besides being consumer-friendly in terms of pricing (new games are expensive but not if you count how much quality time you can get out of each dollar). The biggest upturn has been the quality of PS PLUS. This last year has seen Extra/Premium rise to become the best value-for-money service in my estimation. A huge point deducted for the blind goldrush for Live Service that killed off reputable studios and created infamous ones like Haven. 9/10
If I do the math, we arrive somewhere in the range of 9.5/10.
Well, that's my life ruined: The games selection is not to my taste
Usually, you hear this from the trolling PC/XBOX groupies that throw themselves at PushSquarians. It is me this month, but objectively it is great with a children's game and a cool "indie" platformer that was highly praised at launch.
Whilst Destiny (1!) has given me some of my best moments in gaming with raiding and given me a friend list worthy of the name, I cannot, as a solo player, get back into Destiny (2). It is way too much of the same gameplay loop...I tried to play some of the DLC but starting the right content/mission felt like finding the needle in the haystack, just as leveling and choosing good weapons/armor.
I will add a VR game to my backlog just to seem like an active VR user.
My problem is that I try and keep up with the library of PS Plus Extra, so everything I own or will have access to with any tier of Plus automatically goes to the back of the to-play list. Actually, that does mean that I'll have to squeeze in some playtime with Synapse (or was it Star Wars...) before it goes away
Which is also why I shouldn't be subscribed ALL the time - I have a very, very good backlog and want to get back into KCD2 in time for the Game Awards, so I can really feel the pain of it being snubbed for Expedition 33.
Getting a PS5 Pro at a substantial discount has been absolutely wonderful and the best deal in gaming since napping a digital edition launch PS5.
It is giving me the best visual experiences I've ever had, and I finally understand the performance crowd's insistence on frames per second.
For those interested in an example with a newer game, this is my experience with it on PS5 Pro:
I am playing Vanisher's: Ghosts of New Eden and the game is nothing short of amazing. Running without technical issues, 60 frames and absolute gorgeous details. Looking at Red Mac Raith's beard and braided hair is such a stunning experience.
It provides you with big, beautiful vistas and impressively cavernous splendour underground. The American landscape bent, exaggerated and warped putting your SSD to the test. The map size continues to impress me, and how areas connect to each other. The story is also longer and more nuanced with haunting cases stretching over the length of the game almost.
I want to see Bungie doing well. As shooters go, Destiny 1+2 has taken a lot of my time. Destiny 1 was a revolution for many players, myself included, and the only game that grew my friends list with 100-ish people.
I think I signed up if they'll allow people from the EU on. And if it is good, I'll pitch it to my friends. We used to game online a lot on Siege and 3-4 other games.
Banisher: Ghost of New Eden - currently my main game. This game is surprisingly big, and has more enemy variety than the reviews will have you believe. There's still skills to invest into and haunting cases to look into.
It has been really difficult to play "evil" and put blame on various NPCs, but I have chosen to walk the path and will selfishly do anything for Antea. This will make me ready for a BG Dark Urges run when I eventually finish my first playthrough.
Thank Goodness You're Here is funny and made me laugh when I played about an hour of it in total.
A good excuse for not buying now is that price will go down and performance will go up.
Is it enough to line RPGs or is it highly recommended to be a huge fan of survival games with this? Previous reviews let me to believe this has a great story and side quests which I presume isn't the case with survival games.
Whilst you may be on to something, I read somewhere you'd better REPLACE the RAM with RAM of your own. If that's what you mean by memory, the jury is still out!
The best thing about this maybe overpriced mini PC is that people that say PCs are stronger will be confronted with this thing + a steam fact 70 per cent of users have performance below that of PlayStation 5.
This is a perfect argument for PS5 being the best choice in terms of value and power. 2000+ devices are owned by a small minority of PC gamers.
This week and weekend, I am trying to get far into Banisters: Ghost of New Eden on PS5 Pro.
It has been optimized for the pro and looks amazing. I am juggling two playthroughs: one good and one bad in terms of choices.
I started and got far into it on the portal, but I like how the improved visuals on Pro really accentuates the strengths of this game. The excellently optimized Performance mode has made me a believer in frames per second actually mattering a lot. I cannot see a difference in the actual fidelity betweens graphics and performance mode, so choose that!
The art direction is really great, as is combat, but the enemy variety is slightly thin and the game is about the right size for this kind of rump.

Re: 9 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for December 2025 Announced
As usual, the update is quite good in my opinion. There's 2+ titles I'm interested in.
But I will mainly be playing KCD 2 to round off the year in exceptional quality and style👌
Re: 'It's Fun and Looks Amazing': PSVR2's Next Must-Have May Be Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Let's say your review of PSVR 2-version is under way and you happen upon a technical flaw.
Are you then going to DEDUCT a point from the score when the game arguably gets better with the inclusion of VR like you did with Resident Evil 4 VR?
Perhaps it is a bit pedantic, especially if I've overlooked significant differences between the two cases.
Re: Mystery Game Awards Reveal Is a New Divinity RPG, as Riddle Is Finally Solved
If they had chosen to reveal it at the Game Awards, it would have been absolutely amazing and a memorable highlight.
Don't get me wrong: I'll gladly take a new Divinity and might even consider purchasing a revv up of DOS:2
And it is the games I look most forward to hearing about together with Wolverine.

3. The statue is revealed to be several games, one of them Diablo 4 as was already revealed.
4. XBOX announces a couple of ports to PS.
5. People in general will say the show was overall bad. They'll proudly parade their viewpoint around in the coming discourse.

I have looked hard this year at offers on the PS store and ended up going for the year's sub at Days Plays.
Hopefully, they'll allow me to stack a good offer on top of a running sub?
But if an actual good offer comes by on a game I would like to add to a backlog that's thicc already.
Re: Talking Point: The Game Awards 2025 Nominations Announced: Who Are Your Winners?
I guess that I have a good game in store with Clair Obscure: Expedition 33.
My game of the year has to KCD: 2 which has been such a perfect game being everything I wanted it to be and more.
There's just so many great games, just this year alone!
Re: 'Very Vague' Rumour Claims Sony May Scale Back PC Ports of PS5 Games
If Playstation doesn't port its games to PC, how will PC players pirate the game for free?
Won't somebody please think of the pirates!?
PS5 Pro runs the games better than a PC would, so just go buy that.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 607
9/10 so far! (Made it to the swamps)
Re: Here's Why Sony Is Making a Japan-Specific PS5 Console
The PS5 Pro numbers are abysmal considering that you get a better experience with it than the base console.
I guess japanese players don't like beautiful games and 60+ frames👀
