Incredibly frustrating for everyone except the idiots who cooked this up in a coke delirium. We should start prosecuting management that are as bad as this - it ought to be illegal to act that stupidly.
When Hermen and Jim announced that studios were being forced to do ***** live service, they blew up what little succes others had made for them and led us down the path of stupidity. Some said that the live service push wouldn't impact the studios, but they underestimated how stupidly Hermen enforced their decision.
Hermen is the man who said Concord was the future of PlayStation - he is behind Firewall Studios and helped a complete fraud make Haven Studios. They also sabotaged almost every studio they have - Bluepoint, Bend, Naughty Dog and Bungie and others have been extremely mismanaged.
One can understand the idea of wanting to cultivate a few games for live services but it happened inorganically, and they stupidly forced it unto too many studios at once.
Shame on everyone who had the power or position to fight back against stupidity but didn't.
God of War: Ragnarok... a game I first played last year on the Portal.
This year, I've played it exclusively on PS5 Pro on a good TV....
I have to bow down and say this is one of the greatest games ever made and a sensational achievement for Sony. It is so well made and pretty it beggars belief. I am stunned every time I sit down to play - the story holds up well on the second playthrough.
10/10
I am looking forward to see what the studio has in store for us next!
It seems logical to me since I'mve argued for stretching the longevity of the PS5-era purely from my own opinions and habits.
I can do without a period where I am on a 'last-gen'-machine, which I would be if the new hardware launches sooner rather than later.
Further more, being such a CEO myself, I can't help but think that Sony will capitalize on the lack of pressure to come to market with a brand new machine. They can sell way more PS5/PS5 Pro hardware. They aren't splitting up the user base so everyone can safely invest into the software they want to play. I have to assume that launching a console is an expensive endeavour and coupled with the fact that development time and cost has ballooned it might be a boon for Sony. No longer will a high tide raise all boats, you need a stabile current to coast on.
Also, I totally get why you want it from your point of view it. You even wrote it yourself, you want it due to professional wants and desires, but what are you expecting as a consumer yourself?
As for inspiration for what to write about: What problems do PS5 have that ought to be fixed in the next iteration? That question alone can generate a lot of articles. For example, we need to put pressure on Sony to deliver controllers with less propensity for stick drifting which has been the bane of my PS5-existence.
I think Concord failed in such a big way that people, especially those who tried it, were shocked.
I also think that hating on games is a pervasive trend that can drive away any chance of succes on its own.
With those two factors being my premise, this opinion piece is an example of benevolent journalism that could be effective in motivating people whose cognition are affected by unfair negativity to support the game.
I will definitely give it a chance and if I like it, I will probably try to recruit my friends.... Maybe I should try and make 'em sign up for the test as well....
What I want are for game developers to invent ways of designing games that gets rid of elevator rides or area cutoffs. To create systems, worlds and interactions that are too complex for any old harddisk to facilitate.
I want it to come together in either highly curated experiences or in highly emergent environments.
I highly support them maintaining and prolonging the PS5 generation. It is the smartest and best outcome. Also, game development itself needs to update itself. We should be past the point of catering to PS4/Switch 2/low-end PC and Series S-levels of performance when new hardware launches.
Great joke! And even better rage baiting! You reeled in an ocean of complaining ... from men!
The absolute hypocrisy you've extracted and distilled from about a hundred comments of trash talking David Jaffe could fuel the US government for months.
As for the game, it isn't for me. If you don't like the type of game, it is easily ignored.
I am currently playing God Of War: Ragnarok again in a New Game+ run I started and abandoned.
I make sure to play on my beautiful TV, which shouldn't perform as great as it does to the price, and boy... I am just completely blown away all over again at the graphical prowess of PS5 Pro and Santa Monica's artistry. Their world is so beautiful. Get a pro and this game if you haven't already.
I abandoned Dishonored 2 shortly before the excellent State of Play in the midst of a corvo-new game +-run. I am mostly done with this game I played 10 years too late to the launch party.
I am also playing the amazing DLC in Alan Wake 2. It remedied my experience with the game - that and I'm back on playing Saga which improves the game. Phenomenal in frequent and prolonged glimpses.
I might go with WWE25 just to play around before it goes away.
I am somewhere in my first playthrough on 'normal' in KCD2...
I've completed the first game on both difficulties, but ... who knows if I jump in to enjoy the upgrade at some point🤗 Nothing to hold back newcomers though! Enjoy yourselves
I just "accidentally" bought the game when I tried to wishlist it. I will participate in the alpha, like I did with Destiny back in the day, and then I'll see if I want in or not.
The article isn't hyperbolic. It seemed clear to me that this is the next step in the arcadey gameplay of House marque.
Returnal is a special game. The one time I summoned a random player to help me, he came to me as Neo after discovering his powers over the Matrix. In comparison, I was the damsel in distress.
It was one of the most spectacular 'performances' in gaming I have ever seen. He progressed me through the first biome and beat the first boss which I could not do. He then proceeded to carry me through the second biome all the way to the epic boss battle which he fought valiantly - he was jumping from meteor to meteor somehow pummeling the boss where I could not make a dent in it's health pool, let alone stay alive.
I truly have not seen anything like this in gaming before. And it is not like I haven't been carried through a Destiny Raid before either.
I rated it excellent - and would like to add to the reaction I had last night.
I could have cut out some of the fat on this one making the length and scope near optimal levels. Things like Rayman, Mina the follower, Crimson Moon, Legacy of Kain and Time Crisis looked out of place belonging to another context. In my opinion that is 5-10 minutes of fat cut right there.
It was amazing to NOT see all the gacha bs that usually takes up a quarter of the run time. Not too much Live Service either, leading me to my next point.
It shows us how Live Service is done right I Playstation Studios. Folded into a solid single player experience, Legends made a big splash even if it wasn't a surprise to see it featured.
High production values on the show itself, great games shown, I didn't fall asleep but in fact was quite enveloped throughout. I rate it highly.
Marathon was sooo cool. I think the latest trailer sold me on joining in, shelling out and donning whatever cape they'll give me.
007 looks amazing. I was already onboard.
John Wick looked very cool. Love Keanu! Kena was amazing, like a Pixar movie. Saros showed the studio has evolved a lot and are leaning into AAA territory. Control: Resonate was Devil May Sci-fi! I am actually as of today currently playing Lake House DLC which is AWEsome (get it?) and leans into Control vibes. Amazing DLC that is a joy to go through. It is very great graphics and special effects on a Pro.
Also played GOW: Ragnarok after the show to celebrate a marquis PlayStation Studio entry to PS Plus by Spider-Man 2. What an excellent graphical experience on a good TV + PS5 Pro.

I've been combing through every sale for irresistible offers on Spider-Man 2 and other games, but so often I stay my (shopping) hand even at 70+ per cent discounts as it simply feels too expensive compared to just exploring the PS plus libraries.
Right now, I'm playing Dishonored 2, Undisputed and Wolfenstein 2 which are part of the service. All games I've read or read reviews about with interest, but if I bought all the games that sound interesting I would be spending too much of my budget on gaming.
There's probably a price hike on PS Plus coming, but I'm good until May and we'll see if it is STILL unbeatable value when I've tried my best to exhaust the library come May. I also wonder how on Earth it is sustainable. I've been swimming in games like a pig rolling in mud.
How the hell can I justify ever buying a game again!?!
Looking back, there hasn't really been a bad month. I wasn't excited to see Undisputed headlining, but after giving it a go I am enjoying that a whole lot.
My mind is blown - and on the day I ranked all sony-owned studios putting Insomniac on top!
They make great games - the last I played was when I was away on holiday in a cabin. The one with a eerie hotel on an Island. It was pretty great and a fun experience. You can tell this next game has insane production values compared to the four anthology entries.
Internal ranking of the team based on my interests (support and port studios not ranked):
1. Insomniac Most prolific, top quality studio with Wolverine slated to release this year. Growing up, Wolverine was my favorite hero.
2. Guerilla Games The world they created put them in the top-2 of my list. They are a healthy studio that willl eventually release Horizon 3, and might crack the code on live service games for Playstation that is so highly coveted.
3. Sucker Punch The world that the ghosts inhabit is something truly special. They made an Assassin's Creed-killer and they very recently delivered!
4. Santa Monica GOW: Ragnarok is a masterpiece. It blew me away. What are they cooking now?
5. Bungie Up so high due to their Destiny-past that had me so, so invested. They could deliver something special with Marathon!
6. Polyphony Digital I am not into driving games per day, but the one to play is GT7 in VR.
7. Team Asobi Great studio for PlayStation's modern branding. Can't wait to play (watch) all their games with my daughter.
8. Naughty Dog Sliding down the list due to no new games having been released. Once a much beloved studio by all, Neil Drugman has polarized the fan base. Intergalactic needs to come soon to remedy the situation, making up for the fact that Neil also cancelled Factions 2 for selfish reasons. These are not facts, they are opinions.
8.5 Firesprite A talented maker of VR games. What's next for them!?
9. HouseMarque Highly respected studio that makes games that are too tough for me. Therefore, they are not highly rated by me, but they are a solid team of game devs for sure.
10. Media Molecule Same as Housemarque. I respect their games a lot.
11. San Diego Makes games for a sport I have zero interest in.
12.Dark Outlaw An unknown entity as of now.
13. Bend The brilliant game devs behind Days Gone was ousted and ever since the studio's spokespeople has ***** on their legacy and have accomplished nothing. I consider them a charity case. Sony Playstation Management are also to blame for the mismanagement of the studio that has only remastered Days Gone since betraying the creators.
14. Haven For five years this villainous hive of wretches has done nothing but piss me off. Each month, they are cashing in pay checks and it reminds me of The Dire Straits' song 'Money for Nothing'. If this studio ever releases anything you can consider my flabber severely gasted. If it is also a success, I would probably have to stand trial for defamation.
I'm still desperately trying to like Like A Dragon. Am stuck before meeting some boss because I don't have armor or accessory. They cost waaaaay too much and I don't have ANY gear even after playing the game for 5? hours... what am I missing here?
A mega state of play? Does that equate to an itty bitty showcase?
I still haven't picked up Spider-Man 2 or Ghost of Yotei and with Wolverine coming later this year, I certainly do not lack anything to play!
Still, I hope that the showcase isn't just 60 minutes of PLEASE BUY INTO OUR CARTOONEY LIVE SERVICE GAMES and Asian Slop Gacha Games.
If I could wish for one thing it would be a public execution of the entire Haven Studios. Sometimes, I think of all the hard working people of Earth and then I think of the vile hive of villainous scum that is Haven that still to this day are siphoning off ressources that ought to go to talented developers.
Online discourse... is amplified voices of, mostly, discontent.
When you have hundreds of millions of voices that could potentially say something obviously every available opinion will be brought forth. These voices chime in now and again based on how agitated/motivated they are. There are voices that comment on voices that comment on voices in a loop of negativity.
It is OKAY to have some ressources dedicated to finding success in the live service market, but did they find the right balance? Most people will say "no" and point to the ample amount of evidence.
I am playing through Dishonest 2 and thinking it is great with moments of excellence which stand out even when experiencing it 10 years after its debut. Makes me want to play the original which boasts over 100 awards.
I have this meandering approach to what games I play.
I also started up Undisputed and to my excitement it has Muhammad Ali and other licensed boxers
My goal is to play PSVR2 + BG3/KCD 2, but they're always there and therefore I find myself browsing PS plus libraries and finding games to try instead.
This could be somewhat of a dream HBO-show for me. Looking forward to see how it turns out.
This also confirms that HBO will leave behind the Last of Us, I think. Part 2 polarized the fanbase and it was clearly part of why people avoided/disliked season 2.
Bloodborne is a good one, actually. You are talking to a hopeless case, unfortunately, when it comes to Soulslike games. I simply do not enjoy them at all!
Most credible video game (industry) commentators (all of them?) are saying that GTA VI will be the biggest game launch of all time and Rockstar has delivered on GTA and Red Dead Redemption. I could bet my buttom dollar it is of the highest attainable quality.
To me, it makes sense that the console generation-defining game only arrives when the console's well established. But if it needs to be in the first part of the "life cycle" (which makes less and less sense because of the smaller leaps between each generation) we have 3 of the best games ever made in KCD2, BG3 and Disco Elysium.
What is the one game that defined PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4? Even if you somehow provide an answer, the problem is that everyone has to agree in order for your logic to be applicable.
Furthermore, we have all heard of GTA VI, right? It is obviously going to be the generation-defining game and I'll say that whilst I cannot pick out any game for the previous gens, I can, in advance, pick it out for this gen. Ironic.
It is crazy to read the news and find that GTA V is still very much part of the zeitgeist and presumably a pretty able cash cow even now.
We can look forward to absolutely ludicrous news in the future on how it refuses to die even after being eclipsed by the coming of GTAVI.
I cannot imagine GTA VI not dominating in much the same way for at least 5-6 years until the next Rockstar game emerges. How many consoles will GTA VI help shift? Will the online component launch alongside the single player experience?
The comments section today is a fun read. Who knew that basic PlayStation bros would be so salty upon hearing that a game is going to be better on the Pro!
If you go on PS5 Pro-subreddit, all you'll see is genuine praise of its prowess and shared screen shots taken in a state of awe.
The 30+ negative replies are pure copium to combat the fear of missing out. Honestly, you'll should just buy the Pro and live happier lives👌
Am I interested in Crimson Desert myself? Well, it depends on the reviews😊
For once, I could say where are all the games?? There haven't been a release that tempted me to open the wallet for some time now. The last one was Ghost of Yotei, but my New Year's Resolution was to grind down the backlog. The problem is I just pick something from the Plus-libraries.
Right now, I am trying for the first time Dishonored 2 and for a 10 year old game it has been a really charming experience. The Clockwork Mansion is a design masterpiece and genuinely blew me away.
So, I played The Exit 8 which is by far the shortest game I've ever played. It can be completed in an hour or less, depending on how much you cheat by googling how to beat the game.
I am also at the end of a no-death run in AC: Mirage - I'd usually die, but I've been careful and honestly the game is so easy even on Normal that even I can get it done.
I'll continue with Dishonored 2 as well.
After that I'll pick up either BG3 or KCD 2 and continue my runs.
Well, I am not particularly happy or unhappy following the official reveal.
That's a step up from wanting to 'flush' Undisputed away. I actually think I might try it out first.
Subnautica is too construction and scavenge focused for my taste. I hit a wall chasing specific things and figuring out the crafting system.
Ace 7 ... I just sold a PSVR 1 headset and an ol' clonky PS4, leaving me with a PS4 Slim, but I'll fire up this ancient war relic and see if it's fun. I don't know if I ever finished an Ace-game.
Ultron... pass on the Metroidvania... just not for me...

Spider-Man 2. Beyond hyped for the inclusion of Spidey.

Highly respected studio that makes games that are too tough for me. Therefore, they are not highly rated by me, but they are a solid team of game devs for sure.
10. Media Molecule
Same as Housemarque. I respect their games a lot.
11. San Diego
Makes games for a sport I have zero interest in.
12.Dark Outlaw
An unknown entity as of now.
13. Bend
The brilliant game devs behind Days Gone was ousted and ever since the studio's spokespeople has ***** on their legacy and have accomplished nothing. I consider them a charity case. Sony Playstation Management are also to blame for the mismanagement of the studio that has only remastered Days Gone since betraying the creators.
14. Haven
For five years this villainous hive of wretches has done nothing but piss me off. Each month, they are cashing in pay checks and it reminds me of The Dire Straits' song 'Money for Nothing'. If this studio ever releases anything you can consider my flabber severely gasted. If it is also a success, I would probably have to stand trial for defamation.
Re: Sony's PS5 Fighter Marvel Tokon Confirms 20 Characters at Launch, Single Player 'Episode' Mode
Who's to blame for the spoiler, PlayStation staff or STEAM staff?
I'm leaning steam because why would Sony spoil the surprise?
Re: 20 PS5 Predictions for State of Play February 2026
Awesome predictions. It seems like real news about what was revealed. It has gotten me excited for sure to follow your coverage so far.
My dream PlayStation Showcase is:
The Witcher 3-dlc deep dive
Re: Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties (PS5) - Colossal, Confident Remake Makes Controversial Changes
I'm still desperately trying to like Like A Dragon. Am stuck before meeting some boss because I don't have armor or accessory. They cost waaaaay too much and I don't have ANY gear even after playing the game for 5? hours... what am I missing here?
Re: Mega State of Play Confirmed for Thursday, Over 60 Mins of PS5 Announcements and Updates
Re: PS5's First State of Play of 2026 Tipped for Later This Week
Online discourse... is amplified voices of, mostly, discontent.
When you have hundreds of millions of voices that could potentially say something obviously every available opinion will be brought forth. These voices chime in now and again based on how agitated/motivated they are. There are voices that comment on voices that comment on voices in a loop of negativity.
It is OKAY to have some ressources dedicated to finding success in the live service market, but did they find the right balance? Most people will say "no" and point to the ample amount of evidence.
Re: Horizon Hunters Gathering Is Guerrilla's Next Big PS5 Game, Horizon 3 Still Years Away
I don't really believe that.
Usually, I don't think people are actively loading a gun only to point at their good foot and pull the trigger until it goes click
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 619
Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Story Will Continue in New HBO TV Show
This could be somewhat of a dream HBO-show for me. Looking forward to see how it turns out.
This also confirms that HBO will leave behind the Last of Us, I think. Part 2 polarized the fanbase and it was clearly part of why people avoided/disliked season 2.
Re: PS5 Officially Outsells PS3, Now at 92.2 Million Units
@Pat_trick
Re: PS5 Officially Outsells PS3, Now at 92.2 Million Units
@Pat_trick
Why are you using the past tense?
What is the one game that defined PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4? Even if you somehow provide an answer, the problem is that everyone has to agree in order for your logic to be applicable.
Furthermore, we have all heard of GTA VI, right? It is obviously going to be the generation-defining game and I'll say that whilst I cannot pick out any game for the previous gens, I can, in advance, pick it out for this gen. Ironic.
Re: GTA 6 on Course for November 2026 Launch, Marketing Starts in Summer
It is crazy to read the news and find that GTA V is still very much part of the zeitgeist and presumably a pretty able cash cow even now.
We can look forward to absolutely ludicrous news in the future on how it refuses to die even after being eclipsed by the coming of GTAVI.
I cannot imagine GTA VI not dominating in much the same way for at least 5-6 years until the next Rockstar game emerges. How many consoles will GTA VI help shift? Will the online component launch alongside the single player experience?
Re: You'll Want to Play Crimson Desert on PS5 Pro for Dedicated Enhancements
The comments section today is a fun read. Who knew that basic PlayStation bros would be so salty upon hearing that a game is going to be better on the Pro!
If you go on PS5 Pro-subreddit, all you'll see is genuine praise of its prowess and shared screen shots taken in a state of awe.
The 30+ negative replies are pure copium to combat the fear of missing out. Honestly, you'll should just buy the Pro and live happier lives👌
Am I interested in Crimson Desert myself? Well, it depends on the reviews😊
Re: Sony Signs K-Pop Superstar Kim Chaewon to Promote PS5 for Lunar New Year
How do Nintendo promote their car chip?
Re: These 10+ PS5, PS4, and PS Plus Games Are Coming Out This Week (2nd-8th February)
Hectic release schedule, you say?
For once, I could say where are all the games?? There haven't been a release that tempted me to open the wallet for some time now. The last one was Ghost of Yotei, but my New Year's Resolution was to grind down the backlog. The problem is I just pick something from the Plus-libraries.
Right now, I am trying for the first time Dishonored 2 and for a 10 year old game it has been a really charming experience. The Clockwork Mansion is a design masterpiece and genuinely blew me away.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 618
Re: Rumour: PS Portal OLED Version Coming This Year
Whilst others who haven't picked one up yet might be tempted, and new customers probably should go for the newest model, I will not upgrade mine.
I am more than happy with the current screen. It may be important for context that I'm used to LCD-screens and are happy with how they perform.
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for February 2026 Announced

Re: Random: Someone Made Their Very Own Portable PS4 Handheld Console
@MTMike87
Great shout! Are there a go-to site/youtube channel?
I wish I had the energy to research how to open up and fix my DualSenses that drift and 'just' are out of warranty, conveniently enough.
Re: Random: Someone Made Their Very Own Portable PS4 Handheld Console
Oh, look!
An actually great Switch 2!

Well, it sounds great. Good to hear that the project (might be) on track.
