Re: October 2025 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Available to Download Now

EfYI

I jumped into Silent Hill 2 and after some time I could feel how dated the game is compared to Alan Wake 2 .

I remember not really vibing with SH (1 or 2) back in the day too, so maybe that's just it for me. Still awesome to try it after all the marketing and hype.

As Dusk Falls immediately felt wrong - is this a powerpoint-slideshow!? But you get used to it, and the story is entertaining and its take on adult relationship stuff feels very different from the usual gaming tropes featured.

I have a fledgling run going in Yakuza but the backlog is only growing and at this point I'm afraid to count.

Re: Xbox Shortchanges PS5 Fans Yet Again with Another Shoddy Physical Release

EfYI

@Cvantez

Gamers are a special breed. I boycotted poor, poor M$ because of their involvement in the Gaza conflict. I don't know if I'll ever rescind on this or if I don't if it'll be for moral reasons or simply just the saturation of the market (too many games).

But most gamers boycotting M$ will now be because of a lack of data on a disk.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 603

EfYI

I have and am playing quite a lot this week(end).

I finished HFW and started Burning Shores. The graphics in this game has surpassed anything else I've seen. I need a 700-word essay to fully convey my appreciation of this game. To think I kept it in the vaults of my backlog for 3 years!

On the portal, I am playing The Invincible which so far has been awesome. Written by the great Sci-Fi master Stanislaw Lem, the story is full of intrigue and mystery. Regis III is such an exciting setting, and the graphics are great. Furthermore, it is easy to play, so the game functions as a visual novel. A PERFECT game to stream of you have premium. In fact, it is more than possible to just sell the console and stream from a portal. I wonder how many simply have the portal and a Premium subscription - it is ingenious.

Also, I started up KCD 2 and since I made it to Kuttenberg, I initiated the dlc, but I couldn't smith to the masters' satisfaction, so I have to watch a video on how to smith again.

Re: Here's How Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Holds Up on the $1,000 ROG Xbox Ally X

EfYI

@darylb24

You can sort of compare the Portal (streaming only) with any other device. I just fired up The Invincible (novel by S. Lem made into a game) and the results are so good apart from occasional stutters.

It is only the most hardcore gamers that a) have several libraries and b) feels an urge to have all at the ready on one device. Unfortunately, that's where M$ has felt a need to go, the absolute niche markets.

Re: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 (PS5) - A Disastrously Paced, Technical Mess of a Sequel

EfYI

Sad, but it sounds like the score is justified.

Off-topic:

Apropos scores ... When you do your polls you should set some parameters down for each game (what are the credible absolut highest and lowest scores for a game). Anyone down or upvoting beyond this hidden parameter could be disregarded.

We could then get more credible community scores and if we use one decimal then each decimal really matters.

This is particularly useful in making lists of the best games available.

Re: Sony Travelled to China to Discuss Mobile Adaptation of The Last of Us with Tencent

EfYI

Naughty Dog should honestly just focus on remastering the remaster. And change their name to Remaster Dog.

But Tencent is funny. I am starting to see the humour in trolling Sony employees. Totally worth the litigation. The Light of Motiram-roll for business meetings are what the rick-roll is for the internet!

Next up, they should play corporate-hide and seek with Sony. Tell them they are From Software and want to pitch Bloodborne 2. Sony will come, everyone in Sony + the janitors. They'll sit there and be presented checks notes Asian Aloy in milquetoast version of Horizon. Absolute Cinema.

Re: Talking Point: PS6 In 2027 - How Do You Feel About Sony's Next-Gen Console?

EfYI

Ever since the PS4 Pro, I have made the conscious decision to sell my consoles and basically bring down the cost of admission to a bare minimum. If PS6 is MUUUUCH more powerful than my PS5 Pro, I might make the trade.

However, if a handheld is released, I might just build on my PS5 Pro setup. My TV is just a discounted 2023 model of TLC which isn't exactly industry leading.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for October 2025 on PS5, PS4 Leaked

EfYI

Wow. They gave us four great spooky games!

I'll definitely play the Until Dawn in the best quality at some point if not right now.

Also, Silent Hill 2 will be tried out. I want to try it from the many recommendations given here.

As Dusk Falls is a game that caught my eye. That's four of the greatest horror titles, in their best quality, which is being offered. Amazing value and something to look forward to for me.

Re: PS6 Release Date Touted for 2027, Cheaper But Less Powerful Than Next Xbox

EfYI

My two cents.

They should wait as long as possible and make sure the upgrade is a better gaming experience, a more efficient experience and more affordable. 2027 is too soon. I want the date to be more like 2028.

I am not sure, I'll be moving away from a PS5 Pro since the graphical experience is amazing, and the upscaling tech is on track to become better. I might want another handhold, but the portal is really great as is. But a handheld that play games natively is just better because it enables me to go out and play.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 602

EfYI

Alan Wake 2 has entered the rotation. I made it to the subway. I like it so far, but as a visual novel.

Horizon Forbidden West is still very great. I really like the story and the world. I am nearing the end.

In both cases, I have bought the available DLC, so that I get the full experience from both.

Re: October 2025 PS Plus Essential Games Available to Download Now

EfYI

I am really excited for this addition!

As a whole, my decision to sub again in May has paid off big time. The service has been on a roll ever since.

As has my upgrade into PS5 Pro - it is the best graphics I have ever seen and has elevated my enjoyment of all games where the upgrade is noticeable. Especially Horizon Forbidden West has been the graphical highlight of the year for me.

Re: Video: These 20 Games Have the Best Graphics on PS5

EfYI

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare

I read different reviews and their aggressive marketing campaign have told me what I need to know. Great game, but I would deem GoY greater in all aspects.

I haven't found time to push through with playing an Assassin's Creed to the end since Ezio and the very fun gameplay system of the first two. I have tried Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla and found them to be lacking in quality and way too bloated.

I think games nowadays all come with issues that are patched out over time which caters to my meandering approach to games. If they don't want to finish their games, I'll wait for patches and updates to further improve the games. I am drowning in games - the three AssCreeds are on Plus. Right there to get if I want.

I don't even know what the last game I finished immediately was (edit: Destiny 1, but it was live service) - my game of the year (KCD 2) are just sitting there unfinished, growing in power as DLC trickles into its fabric.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 601

EfYI

Damn, the top 20 graphics video and survey has pushed me towards, not one, but two of the gems of this generation: Rachet and Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon Forbidden West. Both available via PS Plus, but I bought HFW at launch.

The quality of visuals are just insane. The PC missionaries on here don't have a clue how easy and great it has become on console.

Going through the whirl of worlds early on in Rift Apart is generational sensational!

Re: Video: These 20 Games Have the Best Graphics on PS5

EfYI

@somnambulance

I have tried playing Odyssey, Origins and Valhalla - they were inferior to Sony's 1st party output, and I quickly abandoned them.

I wouldn't be able to highlight one aspect they do better than Ghost and Horizon. I looked at Shadows a lot, because I like the idea of an AssCred with that setting, but I don't believe in the quality of the gameđŸ¤”

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 601

EfYI

It seems PushSquare has a pretty impressive adoption rate of Ghost of Yotei. I knew it would be good, but I've allowed myself to wait a little with picking it up. The backlog and Premium subscription are prioritized and the game will only get better as the patches drop and the price dips down.

So, I am continuing with Horizon Forbidden West which I bought at launch but never got far into it. It is with this realization that I battle the fomo of GoY.

I like to have games from Sony 'waiting for me' so I never feel a drought like so many of the most vocal complainers (who probably is full of s@#$ half the time).

Re: Xbox Squandered Over $300 Million Putting Call of Duty in Game Pass

EfYI

@Artois2

Naive?

FROM DAY ONE, I said this was unsustainable and that M$were bankrolling (as in paying for) people to play on their system. Now, the gravy train has come to a grinding halt and people will have to adjust.

Xbots/PC gamers have been trolling this site for ages with BS about PCs and the strength of GP - now, they are footed the bill, and I for one can't wait to see how it plays out. It has been extremely funny to follow the mental gymnastics of these people trying to gain some sense of an upper hand in the online discourse. THEY were the naive ones.

Re: Xbox Squandered Over $300 Million Putting Call of Duty in Game Pass

EfYI

Phil and Sarah seem to have been dragged to this decision of increasing the price drastically.

They've openly and willingly been bankrolling their loyal customers for as long as the greedy share owners could tolerate. Now, they serve their true masters who only wants to see numbers go up.

To be fair, standing on the outside looking in at GamePass it was outrageous the amount of parlor tricks that were available to the consumer in order to drive down the cost of being subbed.

Now, Team Green has to cough up the dough, and they should as loyal customers.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Getting Sick of Sony's Supposedly 'Samey' Approach to Story Telling?

EfYI

Simon Cardy misses the mark by being reductive and cherry picking from an otherwise quite manageable list of 1st and 2nd party games.

It is no real problem as it is just a little contribution to the debate.

We all know that Sony recently spoke out about 1st party single player excellency. Sequels are not enough, you need variety. Old generations' tired game design are not enough, the studios desire innovation and studios promise an increase of complexity.

I think Simon Cardy can have his cake and eat it too. Especially if he allows 3rd party publishers to fill the small gaps left by Playstation Studios.

Re: PS Plus Looks Better Than Ever After New Xbox Game Pass Price Rises

EfYI

As someone who publicly has said that M$ were literally bankrolling their player base I feel like I can't say this anymore. Even with conversations and reward points, you are now paying a substantial amount to access the entire library and have day-one access.

So many are saying they'll be unsubbing isn't surprising. That was my first thought, and glancing over any comment section will confirm this trend.

The gravy train just came to a grinding halt. Now it is time to pay them back the money owed. If this helps ensure HIGH quality games and a frequent output I think GamePass can survive this massive hit.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for October 2025?

EfYI

@get2sammyb

Yeah, how the hell did that happen?

I'll take it - incredible value and I was close to buying it (although I can say that for about 30+ titles since 2023). I feel like my Premium subscriptionfor a year at days of play was earned home the same month. Since then, there are month where even the most obvious trolls on here has been shut up. Incredible.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 600

EfYI

I decided to hell with new games and subscription services and have picked up Horizon Forbidden West again.

I've completely restarted the game and experiencing it on a) a pro and b) a new, decent TV/Portal has been amazing in terms of graphics and gameplay. I am through one thirds of the main story, I think.
