Re: Konami Open to Even More Silent Hill Game Pitches

ChromaticDracula

I really hope they stick to the original formula. The town is silent hill and it needs to feel isolated and confusing. If it goes all apocalypse and starts devouring the world I’ll be so upset. I really hate when things like that happen (like when the world finds out a super hero’s identity or when it doesn’t feel isolated anymore.)
Keep silent hill creepy and isolated!

Re: Poll: Have You Completed Elden Ring?

ChromaticDracula

Loved it. I think the repeat bosses and similar boss names subtracted from the overall world/lore but otherwise this was amazing. Prior to this I beat DS1, 2, 3 and I felt like this was a combination of all the from games into one package. Honestly this is my favorite game next to death stranding now. It really takes a lot for me to get into open world games but both death stranding and elden ring really brought something new to the “open-world genre.”

Last thing I’ll say is it’s going to take a lot to top Elden Ring. I think it’s quite perfect as is. I played on PS5 and never experienced anything weird or off with it and the graphics are fantastic.

Re: Hideo Kojima Says Next Project Will Transcend Video Games, 'It's Almost Like a New Medium'

ChromaticDracula

"We'd warrant tempering expectations on that front slightly, as singular creatives have made similarly grandiose claims in the past and are worth taking with a hearty heaping of salt."

Yeah, but seriously ask yourself if there is a better candidate. This is the guy to do it if any. He's always had one foot in literature, one in film, one in video games. I realize that gives him 3 legs but I guess that just further proves my point.

Re: New Sonic Frontiers Gameplay Explores a New Island in Six Minutes

ChromaticDracula

I’ve JUST NOW decided I will not be buying this game. It looks too frantic (perhaps for my current older self) and I’m noticing lots of blatant pop-in that I wouldn’t expect to be happening this generation.
It looks like a bunch of short sequences stitched together. I can’t tell if the video is cut and restarting at points 😬
It’s too quick/twitchy and hectic/sporadic for me.

Re: You Won't Be Waiting Too Long for Silent Hill 2 on PS5

ChromaticDracula

I’m sooooo -> excited. I have no reason to believe this isn’t going to be dripping quality.
The only thing I can say is, one other reader mentioned how the opening scene with the James in the mirror didn’t quite capture that utter “mystique” from the original. James was pale and sickly looking almost like a serial killer. I do agree there that the remake didn’t quite hit that but still, I’m more than willing to play through this and I know I’m going to enjoy it. I’ve always loved just exploring the town and trying to open doors everywhere.
Can’t wait!! I feel like this is targeting a March release…

Re: Poll: Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?

ChromaticDracula

I’m mixed on this but I will say this:
60fps should not be used for game cinematics. Lower, around 45, gives a more filmy cinematic look and I much prefer that for cut scenes. Gameplay, however, especially for racing games, should have 60fps as at least an option.
If not, I feel like PS4 to PS5 isn’t quite that big of a jump in tech/games then. The only benefit then is the non-existent load times which are awesome of course but…

Re: PS Store Halloween Sale Provides Cheap Scares on PS5, PS4 Games

ChromaticDracula

I know there is a review on this site but has anyone played and enjoyed Madison? I really want it, especially at this sale price, but I keep reading conflicting viewpoints. The consensus seems that the scares are spectacular and the story is great but some of the pacing (puzzles are sometimes way too convoluted and having to backtrack is slow and sluggish.) I've also read that inventory management can be sub-optimal and annoying.

To me it sounds like almost my exact issues with Visage and I'm trying to avoid re-hashing that mess if I can.

In other words, would anyone recommend it for that ~$20 price?

Re: Escape Room Horror Do Not Open Will Spook PSVR2 Next Year

ChromaticDracula

I’m normally heavily swayed from procedurally generated stuff (it completely ruins the memorability and weight of things for me personally) but this sounds like a genre and concept that it could work great for.
Kind of like playing one of those off the shelf trivia games I guess except it’s a haunted house with puzzles.
I’ll check this out.

Re: Hideo Kojima Cryptically Hints at Impending Reveal

ChromaticDracula

I’m in the excited camp. I don’t get the negativity; he’s one of the few, if not the only person coming up with original ideas for things these days. Everyone’s complaining about the influx of remakes and movie reboots and here this guy is not only creating original content but also very good at it, giving it his all: quality and convincing mo-cap, star-studded cast, remarkable voice acting.

’WHAT’ do you all want?!

Re: Even The Medium Is Getting Adapted for a TV Show

ChromaticDracula

Now this is kind of cool. It really scratched my Silent Hill 2 itch.... but ultimately, I ended up throwing down the (very large wad of) cash and just bought Silent Hill 2... Nothing beats the OG!

I do wonder if they'd get Akira Yamaoka to do the music? Or just use what's in the game? That would be cool...

Re: More Cars, Scapes for Gran Turismo 7 in Today's 1.23 Update

ChromaticDracula

Was cruising through single player cafe menu thingies and license tests but I got a little burned out. I’ll come back to it all in a bit but I’d love some classic single player like GT3 had. Also, I second the Rainbow Road request above. And I’ll be utterly devastated if the shortcut doesn’t get added in— that shortcut is canon.

Re: Ghost Song Is Classic Metroidvania with the Cosmic Terror Dialed to 11

ChromaticDracula

I cannot believe we finally have a release date on this!
I’ve watched and checked on and scoped out and forgotten and remembered this game so much and so many times… I cannot wait to play this! I feel like the creator is a totally different person now haha it’s been YEARS in the making, wow.
Well color me excited! November 3rd is going to see the first day one purchase of a game in a long time for me.
ANOTHER NOTE: this game seems like one of those rare Axiom Verge moments where it’s the standout penultimate title of the genre. I wonder if this will make the jump to Switch eventually…

Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Compared to PS4 Remaster, Has More Detail

ChromaticDracula

@Flaming_Kaiser Honestly! lol yeah I definitely paid just about full price each time I bought Skyrim. And in the end I will have bought Skyrim more times than I have TLOU: Part 1 so how can I complain.
Maybe we've all become wiser since all the Skyrims and GTAs and Sonic the Hedgehogs, etc but if there's one company I don't mind spending the extra cash on, it's Naughty Dog. You get what you pay for with ND which can't be said about a lot of other games these days.
Maybe it's situational... I'm not someone who buys more than maybe 2-3 brand new games per year. This is going to be one of the 2-3 I pay full price for for the entire 2022 year. Those who do it more often are likely making up a large chunk of the ones complaining and I totally get it. But discrediting the work these folks do and did isn't really fair.

For example, I can't even imagine the amount of time and work that goes into doing those facial animations for even one cutscene. There's a reason why every company isn't doing actual believable, emotion-rich facial expressions in their games and where the words actually match up with their lips perfectly.

Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Compared to PS4 Remaster, Has More Detail

ChromaticDracula

Nintendo released an HD upscaling of Twilight Princess with an amiibo when it was already playable in its previous format on the same system and people ate that up.
Naughty Dog completely rebuilds replaces the engine and graphics of a game released two generations ago leveraging the new console's capabilities and people have an aneurysm.

Don't want it, don't buy it. Play your old version then or wait for a sale. Solved.
