Re: Rumour: WRC 23, Developed by Codemasters, Is Just Around the Hairpin Bend on PS5

ChromaticDracula

What I really want from this series is for the co-driver’s voice to stutter as we go over bumps and rocky terrain. That feels so next gen to me.
Also, I’d like them to speak faster as needed. In WRC Generations, some of the cars were so fast, there was no way in hell the co-driver was getting the notes out fast enough. You literally had to know the track which totally defeats the purpose. I crashed so many times on the one event because he was speaking them as I was already in some of the turns.

Last, I’d like the team management to go away. It’s nice I can largely ignore it in the previous ones but I just want it to go away altogether.

Anyway, this is going to be one announcement I’m hyped for (along with SH2, MGS, and hopefully some Castlevania!)

Re: Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Development Is Further Along Than You Might Think

ChromaticDracula

I’m with @Darude84 here. I can’t think of the last time a game gripped me like Elden Ring. I was heavily into Dark Souls of course but Elden Ring made exploring the world so much fun. I explored every freaking inch and it was so rewarding…
I like to think From is the best at creating a world with a physical structure off in the distance — a huge castle up on a cliff or some towering thing somewhere-over-there — and invoking that feeling like, “oh man how do you get up there?” Or “Ah crap I’m gonna have to go in there at some point aren’t I?”

Been kind of slowly playing it again as I have time but I’ll be so ready when this DLC drops. I never buy DLC but I most certainly will be when this drops.

Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Really Is Targeting 2024 Release Date

ChromaticDracula

Unless this is a software update, and I certainly don't think it will be, I'm not interested. This is ridiculous-sounding. Nothing makes sense.. the games are still cross-gen and there aren't many games taking advantage of the PS5 capabilities the way it is (or so it appears.) I spent $500-some dollars to get what I already have and im not about to do it again for a largely similar experience.
Maybe the word Pro is thrown around but it actually just means the model with he USB disc drive peripheral. That makes more sense to me than a whole overhaul upgrade to the core system. Crazy.

Re: Ambitious Action Platformer The Devil Within: Satgat Slices and Dices on PS5, PS4

ChromaticDracula

This looks really good… reminds me of Shadow Complex’s art style. It’s a wonder why nobody else follows that format. I think the only other one that comes to mind at the moment is Metroid: Dread. I love the pixely art ones but there’s something really special about this kind too. There’s a fine balance between looking cheap and on the other hand, looking like it’s filled with love and care, which is the case with this one.

Re: Talking Point: Is 2024 Too Soon for PS5 Pro?

ChromaticDracula

Should also be a question for “Will you buy the PS5 Pro?”
I would answer no. Nothing would make me feel more like a “ps5 beta tester” than that. Like I’ve been playing on some sort of dev kit this whole time that I got scammed into paying frill price for. I feel like it’s hardly taken off as a system yet and it’s obscene (and a slap in the face for early adopters) to release a ps5 PRO. Another model with a detachable drive, okay, but not a spec bump and renaming.

Re: The Response to Rocksteady's Suicide Squad Has Been Abysmal

ChromaticDracula

I caught the last few minutes of the stream for this and it seemed like they put a lot of work into the voices and animations and stuff but I have zero interest in these “open world” types of games anymore. They’ve all become so boring to me. I wasn’t planning on buying it anyway so it’s really no harm no foul for me.

Re: Big Discounts for PS Plus Members in New PS Store Sale

ChromaticDracula

@mcdreamer this happened to me. Please don’t read that wrong: the game is overflowing with quality and it’s extremely good but after a bit, it becomes just another open world game. I got bored with SpiderMan for the same reason.
I’ll get burned at the stake for these comments in here I know but I just wanted to offer that testimonial up…
Still, at that price it’s a steal and well worth whatever time you sink into it. I’ll go back to it myself someday I know.

Re: Metal Gear Rising 10th Anniversary 'Event' Teased

ChromaticDracula

Uuuggghhhhhhh I've never had a proper chance to play these games and I'm a huge MGS fan... I'd love for chance to finally play these!!! Would be stellar to get both in one package or something. I don't care I just want to play them on a console with a controller in front of the TV.

Re: PS5's So-Called Scariest Game MADiSON Is Haunting PSVR2

ChromaticDracula

Some may say Visage is scariest, but Madison takes to cake by far for me. What an awesome game!! Frigin terrifying…

Visage’s controls and gameplay need tweaking. It’s borderline unplayable for me and frustrating. I feel like I got soft-locked in the one chapter where you have to break mirrors so I started a new file about a year later and it was slightly more enjoyable on that new chapter but I couldn’t bring myself back to it. It just dragged a little too much for me and was a little too wandering and slow to keep my engaged.

Madison is so much better on almost all bullet points. I recommend it if you haven’t played it. Would probably soil myself with VR.

Re: HBO's Hit Show Catapults The Last of Us' Sales by Over 300%

ChromaticDracula

You just wait til they reboot this series in about 30-40 years. They wont even have actors: they'll have AI-generated CGI and the dialogue will be procedurally generated so it's new every time you watch it. They'll charge full price. We won't even know that the monsters look like they have cauliflower attached to their head because we'll have moved well past vegetables to know what cauliflower even is. We're done for.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a DualSense Edge?

ChromaticDracula

I’ve only ever bought the Wii U and Switch Pro controllers.
I only bought the Switch one because the analog sticks that come with Switch OOTB are a bit loose for my tastes and hard to get those finer movements for Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild in particular. Just felt a little too wild or unwieldy. Bought it for Wii U because I liked the traditional feel of it.

Won’t ever be buying the PS one for two reasons: price (wooof) and I don’t have a single problem with the stock one.

Re: Dead Space (PS5) - Faithful Remake Brings Back a Classic

ChromaticDracula

This generation is so weird… PS5 graphics are great on some games but when I buy a PS5 dedicated game I expect Demon’s Souls levels of graphical quality. Even Death Stranding’s PS5 upgrade is of note.
Those two games continue to be a high water marks in expectations.

It’s disappointing to read it looks like a late PS4 game.
Last, please don’t get me wrong- I do not buy games for graphical prowess alone but I do expect some actual next-gen fidelity to warrant the purchase I made.

Oh well. Still buying but just wanted to unload that.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Forspoken?

ChromaticDracula

I’m an outlier: I have no idea what Forspoken is and I haven’t bothered looking up what kind of game it even is or what it is (I see in this article though it’s from Squenix and is an action RPG.)
I just started seeing the name pop up like 2-3 weeks ago and I come to this site multiple times daily. I have no connection or reference to it so as of now I have no plans to buy it.

Re: Rumour: Metal Gear Announcements Coming Soon as Remake, Remaster Gossip Returns

ChromaticDracula

As someone who cherishes Metal Gear, Metal Gear is not Metal Gear without a metal Gear’s creator Hideo Kojima. Without Kojima on board, and I hope he somehow is despite the rumored falling out, I am highly tempering my expectations. We need David Hayter and we need Hideo. Without those 2, well, I dunno.
Remasters are welcome!!! Existing content available on new platforms. New entries without Kojima? I dunno, dude… I just don’t know.

Re: Konami Open to Even More Silent Hill Game Pitches

ChromaticDracula

I really hope they stick to the original formula. The town is silent hill and it needs to feel isolated and confusing. If it goes all apocalypse and starts devouring the world I’ll be so upset. I really hate when things like that happen (like when the world finds out a super hero’s identity or when it doesn’t feel isolated anymore.)
Keep silent hill creepy and isolated!

Re: Poll: Have You Completed Elden Ring?

ChromaticDracula

Loved it. I think the repeat bosses and similar boss names subtracted from the overall world/lore but otherwise this was amazing. Prior to this I beat DS1, 2, 3 and I felt like this was a combination of all the from games into one package. Honestly this is my favorite game next to death stranding now. It really takes a lot for me to get into open world games but both death stranding and elden ring really brought something new to the “open-world genre.”

Last thing I’ll say is it’s going to take a lot to top Elden Ring. I think it’s quite perfect as is. I played on PS5 and never experienced anything weird or off with it and the graphics are fantastic.
