I thought it was just as funny when CDPR proclaimed The Witcher 3 Game of the Year. Next thing you know they'll be doing the same for Cyberpunk 2077. As far as Far Cry 6 is concerned, what the hell. Why not?
I keep hearing how Mirage is going to be more like the first AC game. God, I hope it won't mirror it completely because a few years ago I was feeling nostalgic and went back and tried to play the first AC game. I had to give up and uninstall the damn thing after just a few minutes because of the God awful movement and combat. Don't believe me? Install it again and give it a whirl. Trust me. You do NOT want a return to the start of this franchise.
So we'll be getting less for more money. Yeah, that's pretty much in keeping with everything else in life. Remember when they used to sell a half gallon of juice instead of 59 ounces? This is what they call "progress."
You do understand the subtle implication of stating that TLoU Part I honors the original is that what they're really saying is how badly TLoU Part 2 dishonored it by comparison.
@Richnj The $10 is because the game didn't really sell all that well at launch and this is a way to get some extra cash with some new content dumped into the game.
A walking simulator paired with content from a dead game series which will never be revived along with content from the world's most famous broken and unfinished game.
Not really seeing the selling points for this thing.
@RobN Would that it was just a single mistake. But there are piles and piles of them and they did essentially the same damn thing with The Witcher 3. Only they were able to get away with that which is why they really believed they'd do the same with Cyberpunk.
Hmm. CDPR says it's "satisfactory" which, in and of itself, is hardly a ringing endorsement for anything. I'd really like to hear from a non-biased third-party at this point. CDPR's credibility is still in the gutter, as far as I'm concerned. I mean, I'd still look at the calendar when asking them what day it is just to make sure we're looking at the same month and year and not some Polish fantasy.
@Cyxn1d3 I'm not really sure why you trusted CDPR in the first place. They pulled a lot of the same crap with The Witcher 3. Even now, they're planning on releasing an enhanced version of the game and they'll be including a bunch of mods. Ask yourself why? Because the vanilla version has a ton of issues which those mods addressed and fixed whereas the devs could not.
@Porco I've been asking this same question for months now. There is no way it could have passed certification for the consoles without a little greasing of the palms. The game was broken and unfinished on launch and it's still broken and unfinished. Some mods have fixed some issues but that still leaves a seriously unfinished game.
@Mjoen There wasn't a single hard mission anywhere in the game. Yeah, I get that you had the difficulty turned way up and then realized that. But there's also a typical for CDPR unbalance in that once you get past the mid-stages of the game, the end-game is ridiculously easy regardless of the difficulty level because you are grossly over powered. Same thing happened in The Witcher 3 so no surprises there.
I found the AI to be frustrating as hell. I found the glitches and bugs to be hysterical and totally out of place in a AAA title with as much hype as this game had for over 8 years. I mean, in this day and age, to see devs still having issues with falling through the map, floating above it, getting stuck on the scenery, vehicles spawning on top of each other, NPCs appearing half spawned in the ground... the list is just exhaustive regarding the number of issues in the game.
It's tiring to list them all. And maybe we're just too used to see this sort of thing in all games but when you consider they spent over $350m to make the damn thing, wouldn't you expect it to be better than that?
Recently, hackers stole some materials from CDRP and have released some stuff online. Included in some of that were videos made by the devs mocking their own bugs and glitches, sort of gag or blooper reels. While these were supposedly from the alpha version of the game, sadly, many of those bugs and glitches are still in the present version of the game.
So, yeah, some of us are peeved off as hell regarding the state of the game and to hear that it might make it back into the PS store is a joke. CDPR has done nothing to really fix anything in the game. The modders have done way more, as they always have done, even for The Witcher 3, but mods are not available for the consoles so... nothing at all has changed for them.
@ThomasHL It wasn't finished on ANY platform. That the last-gen consoles tripped them up is only a tiny part of the story. The game was an unholy mess on ALL platforms and they still released it.
@Nepp67 They would have gotten far more praise to just admit the game had only had less than 4 real years of development and just wasn't ready. Period. Instead, they lied, tried to rush it out the door as early as 2019 — can you imagine how horrendous that would have been? Delays, delays, delays, cut content, BS excuse for cutting content, lies about how great it runs on all platforms when they knew nothing could have been further from the truth.
It's not the praise they missed. It's credibility.
@Northern_munkey Some are always fortunate to never experience serious issues, bugs and glitches. But any way you look at it, the game is still an unfinished mess, no matter how smoothly it ran for you.
AI was a joke in all its forms, but especially the police. Crowds, vehicles would have erratic travel patterns, even stopping for no reason as if awaiting further instructions. Entire areas would be completely devoid of people or vehicles for some time until they suddenly kicked in and spawned everywhere. Missions could easily be tripped up and missed. The list goes on and on.
Why in the world would Sony even consider this? The patches CDPR released have done little to fix or improve the game on any platform and it's still an unfinished mess regardless. PC at least has dozen of mods that have addressed a lot of the issues that plagued the game, even unlocking things that were previously unavailable to players but the PS has none of these so I'll ask again... WHY???
Crashing wasn't an issue for me. It was the lackluster and half-baked story, the saturation of Johnny Silverhand throughout it all and the unfinished overall quality of the game that bothered me most. Not to mention the mountain of lies spewed forth by CDPR.
At the very least, I do wish web sites such as this one would cease posting articles about CDPR and Cyberpunk 2077 when they have nothing concrete to report. They're just rehashing the same crap and trying to keep a spotlight on both the game and the company when neither deserve any such attention.
@GamerDad66 Then maybe they should look at their Gold certification process since they deemed the game worthy of being in their store in the first place when it was a raging disaster on launch.
@Amnesiac Sony's decision was meant to limit their liability in having to do refunds for the game when sold on their store. That's it. They know fully well CDPR will learn nothing from this just as they know they took money under the table to give the game Gold certification when they knew fully well how broken and unfinished the game was prior to launch. They are just as culpable as CDPR for marketing a botched game but Sony chose to wash their hands of the refund issue before they got sucked into a black hole.
@Robinsad The modders can only work so fast. They're leaving it up to them to finish and fix the game for them. Why should they bother when players flock to mods and load up on them to get close to the game they want to be playing. Case in point: The Witcher 3. The same damn thing happened there.
Nearly everyone swears by using 30+ mods in order to get a fuller, more robust and enjoyable version of the game to play and most wholeheartedly recommend against playing vanilla at all costs.
The very same will happen to Cyberpunk. Modders have already dug deep into the game code and brought out cut content, missions, options and fixed a lot of issues in the game that the devs were incapable of fixing themselves.
So, CDPR is currently too busy with spending their bonuses from high sales of their broken game and leaving the chore of fixing it to the modders while they make their grandiose plans for the future. Sadly, none of them include actually learning anything from past mistakes or even a glimmer of hope of any humility for their disgraceful behavior with their game.
@Porco It is precisely that Gold certification that really needs to be called into question. It is unconscionable that the game in the state that it was in when released could or should have ever been deemed "ready to go."
@Deanster101 You're more likely to see working patches and fixes from modders than the devs since they are incapable of doing it themselves. I'd even wager their employers aren't very keen on ensuring real updates and patches that work since they know the modders will be doing all of that for them for free.
That way, the modders do their jobs for them, while they are free to spend their bonuses for selling their broken game and can get on with trying to push out the next Witcher game. And slowly the law suits will drop off and the investigations vanish while they continue to count their money and laugh all the way to the bank.
@Deanster101 You should realize by now that the physical copy of any game is pointless nowadays since that copy of the game is generally so outdated as to be completely unplayable.
The Gold certification is based on that version and we all know just how broken and flawed it was on release. Any game currently on a physical disc merely triggers an online download of the actual game files so that the physical version is just a place holder for the digital online version and completely superfluous.
There are several excuses used for this, of course. One being that the installation copy would occupy too many physical discs and in order to reduce costs, what comes in the box is merely used to verify a legit purchase of the game but it absolutely requires the online digital download to fully install the actual game itself.
@Party_Cannon I still continue to ask anyone who defends Witcher 3 — what is it exactly that you love about it? The many mods that fixed nearly everything that was broken about it or the vanilla version that nearly everyone recommends against playing?
Hopefully it will never be returned to the Sony store. It doesn't deserve to be returned. The devs have given up on trying to fix their broken and unfinished game and are leaving it to modders to address remaining issues, even re-enabling disabled and cut content.
The devs and their employers have been amply rewarded enough for their misdeeds and should not be able to garner more revenue from such a shameful and botched release. It was bad enough to watch them brag about how much money they'd made from the debacle and to further brag about their bonuses for releasing said crap.
It's a damn disgrace that reputable web sites would do well to distance themselves from when it comes to continued press coverage of anything having to do with either the game or the company itself.
Supposedly the latest patch breaks a couple of quests and prevents their completion. So, nice to see CDPR still lives up to its old ways by releasing patches that break more things than they fix. Keep up the great work, guys. You never fail to impress. /s
Nope, haven't requested a refund. I'm having too much fun telling anyone who'll listen "I TOLD YOU SO" and I don't want that to end anytime soon. Way to go, CDPR. No one deserves this debacle more than you guys. I only feel sorry for the devs caught in the middle. This is all on management.
There's a lot that's truly odd and disturbing about a lot of the models used in Valhalla. Many of the NPCs, most notably the women, have enlarged heads (proportionally to the rest of their bodies, I mean) and sloped or ill-defined shoulders that make them seem extremely weird.
The children suffer from something that other games have had as well, most notably The Witcher 3, in that they do not resemble children at all but rather smaller versions of adults and that too is rather disturbing. They have adult heads slapped onto smaller frames and just pass for children.
What the images shown in this article portray is some attempt to stretch or alter those faces to make them look different from the adult models and it fails miserably.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. All of this preoccupation with ray tracing and 4k resolution is all fine and well but not when it comes at the expense of the game itself. The glitches, bugs, graphical issues, even these models themselves are proof that their sole focus was on making the game look as pretty as possible rather than making it the best game they could.
I'd rather play a game that runs smoothly and looks reasonable but doesn't crash or have issues that require tweaking, patching and fixes to one that looks stupendous but is unplayable. As it stands, I'm stuck at 94 or 96% (whatever, I can't even be bother to check at this point). Game completed. Did everything but kill King Aelfred because the stupid quest never triggered since the game believed I already killed him.
So, yeah, looks nice but plays like crap. What a great game! /s
@LowTech Game still doesn't have the Swordfish added to it. Still doesn't have any PC achievements. Still doesn't have multiplayer — not that I give a damn about that but apparently you cannot "avenge" any players' deaths until that is implemented.
The whole fabric thing is just ridiculous at this point. You can be literally swimming in Iron Ore and Leather but there has to be a cap on how many Fabrics are in the game?? WHY???
At this point, I just want to be done with the damn thing.
@Uromastryx I upgraded everything. I see no more of those upgrade signs on any of the buildings. And I'm still shy of level 6. I have 0 Raw Materials left and I even just built that house for Humwald. I'm thinking my game is glitched somehow.
I have not finished the entire game yet. On the last legs though.
Diligent little ***** that I am, I already fully upgraded my quiver and food pouch to max and looted all chests in the game. I'm OCD like that. So, yeah, I had the lack of fabric for that final offering at the altar.
But now this patch/update doesn't help me either since it says that fabric will become available at traders if my settlement is level 6. Again, I did the upgrades and took care of my settlement as I played. I was not aware that we had to do two upgrades to the cattle, fowl and grain buildings so I spent those resources on making homes for those other folks.
Imagine my surprise when I learned there were no more abbeys that could be raided so... I won't be able to get my settlement to level 6 nor will I be able to buy those 5 fabrics from a trader. Thanks for that.
@nathanSF Disc, LOL. More likely a digital download. Even discs today start off with the physical disc and are handed off to the digital servers to fully download and complete. Not to mention a nice big fat Day One patch.
@thefirst At this point, do you seriously think you need to write "youknowwho" as if people everywhere haven't heard the name "Abby" by now and know exactly who she is??
The black one is marginally better than the white one but they both still look like the damn thing overheated and began melting. Stupid design. Won't be buying either next-gen consoles so...

LMAO!! Please, pull the other leg for a while. This one's done.

@OmegaStriver I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Promotes 'Great' PS5 Support at Launch
@nathanSF Disc, LOL. More likely a digital download. Even discs today start off with the physical disc and are handed off to the digital servers to fully download and complete. Not to mention a nice big fat Day One patch.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Promotes 'Great' PS5 Support at Launch
Typical CDPR BS. Promising things they cannot possibly deliver.
Re: Neil Druckmann Explains The Last of Us 2 Deleted Scene at the Farm
@thefirst At this point, do you seriously think you need to write "youknowwho" as if people everywhere haven't heard the name "Abby" by now and know exactly who she is??
Re: Rumour: Black and Red PS5 Console Spotted in Sony Marketing Material
The black one is marginally better than the white one but they both still look like the damn thing overheated and began melting. Stupid design. Won't be buying either next-gen consoles so...
Re: Naughty Dog Explains Why It's Excited for PS5
@__jamiie And I'm so bored hearing ND and Sony try to put a positive spin on TLoU2. I feel ya.
Re: The Last of Us 2 Director Unsure of What's Next for Naughty Dog
Laughing my ass off that Naughty Dog is even considering doing a Part 3. Please, stop! My stomach can't take much more of this!!
Re: Recent Cyberpunk 2077 News 'Just a Tip of an Iceberg'
Believe it when I see it. So far, haven't seen squat of gameplay for this thing. They talk a great deal, show very little and the hype just continues.
