Fans were understandably miffed when Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, a Sony first-party game, added Cyberpunk 2077 content exclusively to the PC version late last year. Obviously, the CD Projekt RED developed sci-fi title would go on to have its own problems, but the extras were significant: a Reverse Trike skin, a Silver Hand arm, new holograms, and six bonus missions featuring inhabitants from Night City.
Fortunately, all of the abovementioned content will be included with the title’s PlayStation 5 re-release, and Kojima Productions will be bundling in a bunch of Half-Life extras for good measure. These include Gordon Freeman’s glasses, a logo hologram, and even a wearable Headcrab. You’ll have to seek out the items for yourself by completing missions within Hideo Kojima’s hit hiking game, but that’s all part of the fun, isn’t it?
Remember, you’ll be able to upgrade your existing PS4 copy of Death Stranding for just $10, and get access to all of the items and improvements that are being added. That’s an extremely fair price for what you’re getting.

Cool to see the Half-Life stuff, I was well jealous. Same as the weird crossover with FFXV that strangely worked.
$10 is fantastic. Hope this gets Sony to only follow this trend.
Seeing any sort of Half life content on Playstation is fadcinating to see. I think the first to do this was Fall Guys with his Gordom Freeman skin, which was later added on the Playstation version.
Not bothered by this in the slightest.
i'll take it the upgrade comes with a bunch of new content , probably plays better as well. we also need that hard drive upgrade soon though
I don't suppose there's any new story or new areas?
I will definitely pay 10 bucks for this. This is how you do it Sucker Punch
@haoie In the trailer at the end it mentions new story content
It'll be epic if the cyberpunk content barely works on consoles.
AHH I see PS4 players get screwed again
Happy there is an upgrade path as I bought it but not played it yet.
@Would_you_kindly how you can upgrade for 10$ ?
@Would_you_kindly how do ps4 owners get screwed exactly?
I absolutely loved death stranding and spent 110 hours platinuming it, I wonder if we will get another free platinum if we transfer our saves? I will be getting this for sure as it will of been close to 2 years since I’ve played it. Have they said how the upgrade process works yet because all that comes up in the store is the £44/49 versions?
Can’t wait to play it again. Although I have no idea where I’m going to find the time to play all of the games in the last part of this year.
Had to reread this article trice to understand it.
this is one of the games i skipped on ps4 to play on ps5..still i can't find a ps5 so i may skip the console as well and preorder a ps6.
All that sounds like stuff that could have been added to the existing version for free.
Director's cuts use to make sense since it was a second shot at delivering the experience the director wanted but couldn't. But in a world of live service and constant updates, what's the point?
If the game isn't what you wanted at launch, fix it post launch. That has been the mentality up until now. But I guess no one would be stupid enough to pay for an update though, right?
@zebric21 that's assuming you'll be able to get a ps6 when it's up for pre-order
Got this in a sale on PSN many moons ago where it's sat waiting in my pile of shame.
Defo going to get the upgrade and play on PS5 (promise).
Got the PS4 version but didn’t get the chance to get too far into it, so the low-cost upgrade to PS5 is appreciated. Guessing you can only do the upgrade to PS5 once the game’s released (as opposed to pre-ordering it for this option)?
Interesting. I'll be waiting to if this Directors Cut makes its way to PC as I've just got it in the Steam Sale...
@djlard Imagine if you'd read it "thrice". Maybe it might have helped.
@Richnj The $10 is because the game didn't really sell all that well at launch and this is a way to get some extra cash with some new content dumped into the game.
A walking simulator paired with content from a dead game series which will never be revived along with content from the world's most famous broken and unfinished game.
Not really seeing the selling points for this thing.
There’s a Q&A video on YouTube explaining a lot about the upgrade. I for one will be upgrading as I love the game and want to support Kojima productions.
So it’s only 10 Guineas?
@Northern_munkey @twitchtvpat You can upgrade for $10 to the PS5 version after you spend $500 on a PS5. So it's a great deal for PS5 owners but PS4 owners who already bought and paid for the game don't have any way to access any of the new content at all.
tldr PS4 owners <> PS5 owners
This could of course change, several previous PS5 exclusive games coming to PS4, but that's how it stands at the moment.
I paid $7 for death stranding that i still have to play. Paying an additional $10 is a no-brainer for me. $17 for a PS5 game sounds good. Waiting for this to drop
Absolute bargain for $10 considering all the additions.
If it was a straight port I'd be hesitant, but this looks well worth the value.
A nice bit of news considering I expected this to be a $30 upgrade like Ghost of Tsushima.
Half Life 3 confirmed!!
@Richnj player feedback more than likely which goes on to improve the game
@Northern_munkey the right thing to do would've been to have added the additional content as a free update when the game released on the pc
@twitchtvpat shouldn't have to pay to get the additional content that was included with the pc version
@Richnj The name director's cut has the same function as ultimate editor or GOTY edition and other things for games as used by Sony. But since the term comes from movie industry it is supposed to sound more artistic and elegant. Kinda like how LoU2 was called Part II inspired by Godfather Part II.
@Would_you_kindly you are paying for a lot more then that , it has brand new game play and content made for the directors cut.
clearly you didn't really look into what this includes.
@rjejr i take it that some time in the future you will purchase a ps5 if you have not already? In which case upgrading your ps4 copy for $10 wont be an issue for you will it? This happens a lot where a game gets released lets say diablo 3 for an example..releases on the pc first and then has the expansion released which pc owners had to purchase for around £15 if i remember rightly..then the ps4 versions are released which included all the extras for nothing..this is exactly the same thing but in reverse but i bet you didnt lament those poor pc gamers that had to pay for it..try to stop being entitled..
@Would_you_kindly eh?
@Richnj
Directors cut existed on the PS1 all the way back in 1997.
Resident evil announced a directors cut, it basically enabled the dual shock controller to be used with the game.
@Retro1994 Director's cut isn't a fancy word for ultimate edition. Using it as such diminishes the meaning.
@Thelegend159 I know, but back then Capcom couldn't have pushed an update through to the Internet to enable that feature. A re-release was the only option for that.
@Would_you_kindly Was the game broken when it was released? Did you get the product you paid for? If both the answers are yes why do they need to do it for free? Because and i really want to know why its up to the company if they want to do it for free.
@Retro1994 I think the GOTY branding is wrong and it sounds stupid. Complete edition or Directors cut sounds better and is more honest how many GOTY are there. And if it gets rid of the horrible cases plastered with review scores im all for it.
@Northern_munkey What if it takes someone a year to get a PS5, I doubt at that point they will even want to spend $10 on Death Stranding if they already played the base game when it released. Plus think of all the PS5 games they'll want to play instead. Besides sayi g "We know Generations" didn't Sony also say "nobody wants to play old games"?
@Slippship PS4 played the game, that seems capable to me. Seems like PS4 can't play a lot of PS5 games, until somebody wants some more money and decides it can.
@Flaming_Kaiser never actually got it , it looks boring & I don't like kojima games excluding silent hill I just think sony should add the content that the pc version got to the PS4 version seen as they put playstation exclusive on the box when it released
@Slippship I think it's the parts, manufacturing and shipping issues that's keeping the PS5 from spreading it's wings. Once they get those 3 taken care of the rest won't matter.
@Slippship Well the PS5 is getting GoW and HZD sequels which should blow people away. Also coming to PS4 of course. Which brings the problem of - it seems to take 2-3 years to make a new AAA games these days - so any PS5 exclusive that really blows people away may still be 2 years out. Will be great when it gets here, but that's 2023. Maybe holiday 2022 if they push it.
And if great PS5 exclusives are that far out, why not have this DS DLC also available to purchase on PS4 like Ghost of Tsushima? Bringing it back to my original point.
This is great news, tbh had completely forgotten about the extra content.
@Would_you_kindly So its complaining about something you dont even own thats kinda sad. 🤪
I would love a half life collection of 1 through alyx on ps5. I've been wanting a friend to play them but he's not much of a pc gamer
@Flaming_Kaiser I don't need to own it to have an opinion & it's kind of sad that you feel the need to argue with someone because they have an opinion you disagree with.
@Would_you_kindly Thats my opinion deal with it.
Well Kojima did get the engine for free and im sure he got some money and help to creatie his vision.
