Released just in time for the weekend, Cyberpunk 2077 update 1.10 does a lot to address the game's consistent crashing issue on PS5 (via backwards compatibility) and PS4. Well, according to the official patch notes, at least. The notes claim that "various stability improvements" have been implemented, and on Sony's last-gen system specifically, the update features "various crash fixes".
Except Cyberpunk 2077 still crashes with alarming frequency on PlayStation consoles. In our experience, the crashes don't come quite as quickly with 1.10 installed — but they're definitely still there. Various reports from around the web say the same thing, but for some players, it seems as though the crashes have somehow gotten even worse since downloading the latest patch. In short, the game's still an absolute mess.
It's completely unacceptable. We can handle the odd crash every now and then, but Cyberpunk 2077 has crashed on us more times than we can count. It's the main reason why we gave the game a shocking 3/10 score in our review. At this rate, it's going to be a while until the title is allowed back on the PlayStation Store.

Glad I refunded on PS4 when I could and didnt look back.
Give it a break Push Square 🙄.....these stories are getting boring. There are issues sure but surely there's something else you can write about ? You must be bored writing them yourselves. How about articles on classic games of the past ? Or something. Anything
Sony is right refusing to sell this on their digital store, what a mess.
This game looks like it'll be super fun when development finishes in 2022.
@KingPev They need to report on whether each new patch fixes anything at all for people like myself who care about that?
This is not beating a dead horse, it's reporting on the game's state.
Pathetic this still doesn't solve crap.
Brutal. I have limited patience for the people who crap on the game cause it’s in vogue, but I really feel for those who are trying to give this game a fair shake but just can’t. I’m very happy with my purchase but I agree that it’s unacceptable for these issues to be this widespread. What a baffling situation.
13 user voted game of the year awards by the pc community ladies and gentlemen
@sabaki08 I understand what you're saying but it's a non story ! Maybe it should read "some people are having crashing issues still after the latest patch. But some aren't".....I've been.playing it all morning with no crashes. I'm sorry but it just comes across as pure click bait
@KingPev there are other stories too, personally I want to know what state it is in as I've deleted it from my ps5 until it improves
Still sitting on the foil wrapped game and I think it'll stay that way for a while. Performance looks fine across ps4pro and ps5 and I can live with occasional crashes. What I just can't take is that night city looks like it's in a hard Covid lockdown. Nobody is walking the streets and super light traffic for the last standing "supermetropolis". Also looks sparse on things to do, and with ai being what it is there's still little reason besides the story to play this empty sandbox.
Just have to wait it out.
As buggy as the PC version is, I never once had a crash on it. When I tried the PS4 version on PS5, it crashed literally every time after an hour of playing without fail. Just nuts.
@KingPev how dare they keep playstation users informed before they make a buying decision!
Damn. I thought I would hold off until it's fixed.
After reading the update had fixed the problems, I bought it for £34.
I guess I should have waited longer lol.
With a few soft crashes you give this 3/10, Spider-Man remastered you gave 9/10 despite hard crashes potentially bricking peoples consoles. CDPR are trying to fix their game, insomniac aren’t. Consistency?
Well good thing they warned others with that rating. There's always a pc to play it on....but that is more money that way.
@KingPev a lot of people, myself included, are waiting for the game to be functional enough to play without constant issue. I'm glad people are reporting on if patches are working.
I get why you'd be sick of cyberpunk news but that's on CPDR releasing the game in the state that it did.
Looks like I'm holding off installing the game for a while. To the backlog with me
@RBMango it really is nuts. I’m on a Pro, and my personal experience actually lends credence to CDPR’s claim that they did not see the extent of issues that people are having. I have had 2 crashes almost back to back about 30 hours in. None before, none since. I have had a fairly well populated city as well.
There is something strange about this whole debacle, I hope they get to the bottom of it. It’s a really great game.
@KingPev Just because you don't find these stories informative doesn't mean that other people feel the same. There are loads of PlayStation players waiting to see whether the game's fixed — that's why we write about it.
Playing on PS5. Tried to induce a crash last night riding the bike around Japantown and yep, crashed. Also crashed about 30 minutes later when trying to rotate the camera in photo mode. Also still consistently freezing subtitle text on the screen. Also had a new problem where I jacked into an access point and the game stalled and never brought up the hacking interface, but this may have been a one-time coincidence. Still having fun with the game, but yeah, not fixed. High five to those not having problems though—you’re lucky!
@KingPev "Give it a break Push Square 🙄.....these stories are getting boring."
"I've been.playing it all morning with no crashes"
I figured from your first reaction that you would be 😐
I really want to play this game, but all these crashes is putting me off.
@Robinsad: Spider-Man Remastered was fixed shortly after it released on PS5. Cyberpunk still isnt 2 months after release, and who knows how long it ll still take them. Insomniac doesnt release a game as broken as Cyberpunk to begin with.
@Juanalf ....aargh I don't believe it, now I've got so much egg on my face I could make an omelette ! ..the game crashed on me for the first time ever, literally after going back to it reading your comments ! can't even fire it up again yet ! Had to happen !.....crap game, I demand a refund 🤣🤣 ..(looks sheepishly around ) I'm now a member of the club @shogunrok - apologies keep reporting on it lol )
@wiiware says more about their shady refund policy.
I don’t have the crash issue but now when I load up the game the one guy calls me and says nothing and his call pic is frozen in the top left of the screen. Think I’m done with this game
@WizzNL I bought I think this week and had 3 hard crashes in an hour of play that made my ps5 unresponsive. It’s not fixed.
And cyberpunk is barely a month old, Spider-Man is 2 months.
Cyberpunk'd 10 patches later
@ShogunRok Ahh man i feel bad for you having to keep going back to this game to test for improvements, when there are so many other releases out there more deserving of your time. Hopefully CDPR will respect your time better with the feb patch by, you know, actually fixing the crashing.
It does beg the question at this point whether the PS4 release can be salvaged at all
Glad i cancelled my Xbox 1 pre-order when the last delay was announced i havent looked back since.
@KingPev give it a rest comments like yours are getting boring. The game works for you great shut up play and play it. Stop being a CDProject Red White Knight.
@KingPev Well that sucks! I still can't believe how widespread these issues are.
@KingPev It’s either 19 articles about Cyberpunk or 32 articles each detailing a single feature of Resident Evil.
NINJA BOREDOM
@Gaming365247 There is more gaming news than Resident Evil and Cyberpunk, I’m pretty sure that’s what they are getting at. “White knighting,” LOL
NINJA IS AMUSED
@Robinsad: I have zero issues with Spider-Man since the end of november, so for me personally they fixed the issue within a couple weeks. And imo the issues with Spider-Man were nowhere near the mess Cyberpunk is.
@SquigglyCoconut Sony is right not selling this mess on their store. Sony refund policy is bad. Both are right.
@WizzNL Miles morales is fine, the remaster of the original is still console wrecking far worse than the inconvenient crashing on cyberpunk.
I wonder why the Series X version runs so well and what’s causing the crashing so bad on the PlayStation versions, specifically PS5
Damn I was hoping it was fixed. Are they during story missions that’s where mine did towards the start of the game?
I finished up Cyberpunk last night on PS5, and before I wrapped it up I downloaded the new patch. I did this because I heard a few people say the game crashed at key moments at the end, and I wanted to try to avoid that.
Although there was nothing game breaking, I do want to report that the game crashed twice for me during the last two hours of the story, including once when I had almost completed the final battle. Again, this was with the new update installed.
Not writing this to complain-I finished the game fine with minor inconvenience. Just FYI.
It's really a shame. Hopefully they fix it eventually. I had much interest in the game prior to launch but as time goes by I may skip this one entirely even after it's fully patched. There are other games to play.
@KingPev you seem to spend an unhealthy amount of your posting defending CDPR and Cyberpunk. You say you've been playing it on BASE!!!! PS4 and no issues? Nah.. I'm not buying it.
People want to know when it's worthwhile to attempt to play the game again without it crashing every half or so.
If your not happy with the article you can skip past it. It's not hard.
@KingPev
Same here. Ran smoothly today for around 3.5 hours I played.
@KingPev Why would they stop its still a mess i dont see the issue reporting the improvements or the lack of it. 😅
@KingPev there is almost nothing they won't write an article about. Thats why all the articles are only two paragraphs long.
In this case an update on a patch of a game that's still broken is fine.
@KingPev I think this article is valid, people need to be informed that the crashing is still happening.
With regards to the crashing... L.O.L!
@Robinsad What are you on about ? I've looked up the Remaster bricking console and I can't find a single person saying it did, almost every articles is from November 2020 and talking about the Rest Mode/Hard Drive issue that was happening at the launch of the PS5 with the remaster. This has been fix for a while now. I might have missed something so feel free to show me anything but I don't see people constantly complaining about the state of Spider-Man Remastered.
@jmac1686 I remember Skyrim had similar issues on the PS3, but I don’t think those problems ever got fixed. Maybe Sony uses a different architecture for their systems that makes ports more challenging? Xbox is basically a Windows PC so that must be why it runs similarly to PC.
NINJA APPROVED
@Mpquikster from my inner circle, 4 of us bought the game. Two on base, one on Pro (myself) and one on PS5. The one on PS5 had it crash hourly and eventually had his save file corrupted and then went for the refund. He wasn’t happy.
Between the two on the base, it’s been split. One hasn’t had many issues and thinks it’s absolutely fantastic, one’s had an up and down experience also with a corrupted save and some crashing and recently kind of fell off of the game.
My experience on Pro has been pretty great in comparison to what I’m hearing. Compared to some of the videos I’ve seen, it feels like I’m playing a different version of the game. Outside of reloading the odd save to fix scripting issues and some pesky U.I. annoyances, the only consistent issue I’ve had is strictly performance related. It can chug to the point where I have to stop and let the game ‘catch up’. It always does however. I’ve had two crashes in about 70h of play. Nothing game breaking.
Hope that helps! It’s a strange situation.
Let me know when it’s ready to play, cheers @ShogunRok. Maybe do a little dance for me while we wait for the next patch. Dance, patch monkey, dance!
Have this game sitting on the shelf right now. Probably going to uninstall it until way down the line when the PS5 allows you to expand memory
Played 7 hours of Cyberpunk here... not one crash
Played Spiderman remastered start to finish, not one crash
Am I just lucky? 🙄
@Jimmer-jammer yeah I've read a lot that the game seems to perform best on the Pro. Very bizarre
Why can't sony/playstation say to cd right give us the patch so we can test it in dev mode then once its ok in dev mode then apply it online as it would be for the general public (without actually releasing it to us) then test it again to see if its worthwhile releasing it to us ?? Unless they already do this lol
Supposedly the latest patch breaks a couple of quests and prevents their completion. So, nice to see CDPR still lives up to its old ways by releasing patches that break more things than they fix. Keep up the great work, guys. You never fail to impress. /s
I've honestly experienced only two crashes and I think one was before 1.06 and after 1.06.
I enjoyed and finished my first playthrough on ps4pro with ssd. I love cyberpunk and CP2077 was going to click with me. That 3/10 score, though, totally deserved. Releasing a game in this state should be unacceptable (well, except for early alpha access).
Fingers crossed that February's patch make a big difference.
Desperately waiting to play this game (in a stable state lol) and expirence the great story.
Late to this party. I went on a marathon tear with it after the patch. It looks so much better now on my base ps4, I went for 10 hours straight, no crashes except me at about 6am. Just woke up.
Everything I've read from legitimate posters to crybabies to people it's obvious never even tried to play the game, all seems to lead to the fact that the game is FAR more stable on PS4 than PS5. I play on the oldest, slowest, most base PS4 available with no modifications made to it whatsoever.
Someone asked why they release patches if they don't fix the crash issues. Really? It's because you fix SOME crash issues as they come up and you find a way to deal with them. I've been more and more happy with the game after each patch has come out.
Somewhere I read that when mass-manufacturing the ps4, depending on where it was manufactured it could use different makes and brands of different internal parts, as long as they met the desired specs.
I think this is why so many people with the same consoles are having different results.
I love this game, and if you're lucky enough that your console will let you experience it relatively bug-free, like mine has, I can't recommend it highly enough.
lol crashed on me a few times 40 hours in leveling up on ps4 pro ,ive it on series x no crashing , will be getting it on gog when its cheaper loving it at the mo.
@LordSteev Yeah the breadth, variety and inconsistency of the problems is just wild. I haven’t seen a single T-pose, hole in the map, double phone call glitch or V popping out of his car at all, though obviously people are experiencing these things. My car did hilariously launch into the sky one time, which actually gave me a pretty awesome view of the city for a moment. 😊
Your point about the manufacturing of internal parts is an interesting consideration. CDPR definitely has a job and half on their hands, I don’t envy them. Glad you’re enjoying it, I got a little sucked into Doom the last few days. I finally get to jump in tonight! Cheers!
Pretty crazy that they still can't stop the crashes...
It still absolutely baffles me that they released this game when they did. They surely would have known that it wasn't ready. I get that they had pushed it back several times and didn't want to do it again but that must have been better than all this bad PR since launch. Also, I'm not technically adept when it comes to games so I don't understand how it can work fine on some for some folk but not others, on the same systems. Can anybody help explain?
That guy chose the wrong article to be first and post a stupid comment 😂😂
@Gunga well there are a lot of possibilities in the game, and people can play it in lots of different ways, so obviously it’s difficult to account for the huge variety of potential situations during testing, which in certain cases apparently leads to crashes.
Well if this is the first of the 2 big patches that are supposed to fix the game, it's not looking good it didn't really fix anything, all these patches for practically no change in the game. Maybe the February patch will "fix the game" LMAO yeah right. Cd project red deserve everything they get from the lawsuits
@eltomo yep that certainly shut me up didn't it ? 🤣🤣 The timing was impeccable lol
It's absolutely clear that CDPR actually has no clue why these crashes are happening, and taking pot shots at possible fixes to address it. In so doing they are releasing these patches with two likely realities
1: they are not testing if the fixes are actually helping to address the crashing over time.
2: they know the fixes aren't working to address crashes, however the want to release patches and hot-fixes to leave breadcrumbs of hope to consumers, and try and demonstrate a false sense of urgency and dedication to Sony and investors (much of the same behavior and thinking that that produced this disaster). Just like the constant hype updates they delivered over the last year to deceive us into pre-orders and keeping them, and also to deceive those that provided the resources to make the game.
All that aside, like I said It's obvious they still can't pinpoint what is causing these crashes. It's time to set this one aside, and I honestly wouldn't expect a fix for them for some time. For those playing on last gen base consoles, I wouldn't hold onto hope that this game is going to run well enough consistently, ever. By the time they do make this game payable most will be on to newer and better things released.
The one bright spot of all of this is the affect it will have on future releases from the industry. No one will want to be the next "cyberpunk2077." Sony's decision to pull it was wise and I applaud it for it will hopefully end this cycle of us being duped into being beta testers that paid to beta test.
Considering this game is taking up like 109 gb on my PS5 as a broken digital paperweight, i think its time to delete for now.
Curious, what was the original file size stated for this game?
I'm running the game over 8hrs now without a single crash, so there seems to be an improvement. PS4 Pro.
Really happy I decided to get this one on Xbox. It’s a darn shame that PlayStation got the short end of the stick on this one.
With the previous update the crashes reduced significantly. My daughter playing on the ps5 hasn’t had hardly any issues. Not sure with 1.10 but previously no problems. I still think the game is totally worth getting on the Ps4 pro or the 5. She also played for at least 20 hours on the pro with out many issues. I get people are upset it didn’t make expectations but it’s not as bad as the complainers make it out to be.
@Wilkiwan
it absolutely is. Thousands of people aren't making this up to complain, like a trump rally.
I can post my crash log , and you would see nearly 30 crashes for roughly 50 hrs of attempted play.
@GamingFan4Lyf I’ve hard Xbox is just as bad though? Some people are just getting lucky with the crashes. I think PC is the only place it’s less of a mess. And then it’s still a mess.
@KundaliniRising333
I’m absolutely not a trump supporter. I get the problems. but I’m not experiencing the crashes with the last update previous to 1.10. The crashing sucked for sure. Other than the that and the occasional bug, I didn’t thing the game was bad at all and rather enjoyed it. My oldest (19) has already sunk over 30 hours and is enjoying it.
@Wilkiwan
yah i hear you, and no worries i was just using an example, I am in no way suggesting you are a trump supporter.
Im happy things smoothed out for you and your Daughter seems to be enjoying the game.
@Jaz007 Hmm, I guess I got lucky.
I had only one bug that hindered me progressing early in the game that a simple reload fixed. Other than that not 1 single crash the entire 50-ish hours I clocked in the game - just a few visual bugs.
Maybe because I was playing on an Xbox One X?
Thats it for me. Refund request in to psn. Done at least until the ps5 version is in and has good reviews. That day may never come at this rate.
@KingPev i understand where you are coming from...but i also understand why there needs to be this kind of article published..just dont read the articles if you think the subject has been over reported on..
Game should be pulled off shelves as well it wasn't ready and people should be getting refunds and the game should be sent back to development 2023 the game should have been out for PS5 and XSX and skipped last gen. Wether fans didn't like that at all tough the games scope got to big they hyped it up too much and this gen was the only way you could have played it properly in 2023 because the hardware for last gen won't have cut it.
Glad more then ever to have a gaming PC, haven't played a lot of it yet but she's been looking good
Not had any crashes on the ps5 since the patch, a bit of pop in and an NPC walking through a closed door has been the worst of it
@GoodGame yes
I've been battering this on my base PS4 since the patch and surprisingly I've not had a single crash. I think it looks and performs a little better than it did too. That said, I do play the game to its limits. If the fps starts chugging or the sound lags then I'll just stop and wait for it to catch up so to speak. Ragging full pelt on an Arch motorcycle around Japantown is just begging for a system crash.
@Robinsad You’re way out of date on Spider-Man Remastered. I played it in November and immediately stopped when it crashed my ps5. Started again in jan with all the updates and am halfway through with no hard crashes.
World loading,texture loading is biggest problem on Pro.Crashes and bugs are rare in comparison.With this patch it seems worse.So much problems happened in short half hour play with this patch,its unplayable.
Let's be real CDPR are PC first and this launch shows that. Until they shift to an engine that makes it easier to develop on console, they wlll have the same console launch problems as Cyberpunk 2077 and the Witcher 3.
Game engines cost a lot of money, but so does a bad reputation for respecting consumers time and money.
I'm on ps4 and only crashed twice.
@shonenjump86 I'm on ps4 and only had 2 crashes and no bugs. Must b lucky I guess.
Appears my crashes were related to the 1.10 patch corrupting my game install on PS4 Pro. Probably when it's doing the 'Copying' bit.
Deleted and redownloaded the game and it has been running fine for hours.
Crashes aren't the only thing to be affected. I like many others have been playing every day since release and have spent a lot of hours hunting down all the loot and sharing information amongst a passionate community regarding where to get certain cosmetic items etc. The patch has moved a lot of the locations and made weeks of work by fans now null and void!
@QueenOfHearts38 same here. Made a refund request and will keep the PC version. Ill buy the PS5 version when I get the console late 2022.
@KingPev what are you talking about? Cyberpunk is the most anticipated video game of all time - it’s every gaming websites duty to report whether the patch does what it says or not.
Played 3 long sessions since patch 1.10 (PS5) and not a single crash. They must have sorted some of the issues out; it used to crash on me in the more dense parts of Night City quite often.
The best thing is, when they finish development, it will only cost £20 in about a years time 😆
@Jimmer-jammer
I think in my whole time playing, I've only seen the t-pose twice. I found it, like many of the small bugs I've run across, more amusing than game-breaking. The bug I remember most, (and fondly at that) had to do with tracking down Delamane's cars. I didn't know it was a bug at the time, but when I found the first one out in the east hills, I didn't know what to do with it, and Big D wasn't answering my calls.
I'd just been to the ripperdoc and invested in the wrist mounted rocket launcher, which until now I hadn't really found a proper use for. After chasing the car around a traffic circle 3 times and trying to call D after jumping on the hood for a traffic circle pony ride to ask what he wanted me to do with his wayward car, frustration coupled with curiosity finally taught me how to use the rocket launcher!
He was obviously hurt afterwards, and wouldn't let me go after the other ones. When I do end up wrapping up my very long and experimental first playthrough, he'll probably end up costing me a trophy of some kind. Oh well, not a trophy chaser anyway.
You know, taking what someone else said, about the extreme ammount of ways you can build your character, from cyberware to attributes to skills and perks inside those attributes, and then coupling it with different internal parts on ps4, I wouldn't want to be them, either. What a monumental task to try to solve to make everyone happy. Good luck to them!
@Robinsad - i've played about 20 hours of spiderman without a single crash (though have encountered a couple of minor bugs). what version of the game do you have installed?. it should be 1.002 - the rest mode crash issue was fixed in 1.001. i also played about 25hrs of spiderman miles morales without a crash. the only PS5 game to crash on me is call of duty cold war - once when i tried to use the resume from the activity cards - it ran for a few minutes then crashed at the next section.. the other on the level with the red doors — crashed when trying to open the door, looked like a loading bug.
@LordSteev you know, I had that very same Delamain thing happen, in probably the very same traffic circle, at the top of the hill outside of town. I just reloaded a prior save. These are the types of scripting issues I was talking about.
I’m definitely not trying to make it sound like my experience has been bug free - I’ve had loads of floating cigs and various other assets, some wonky animations...but some of the videos I’ve seen make it look completely broken, which it hasn’t been for me.
Now it’s gotten to the point of ridiculousness where I recently saw a video through reddit (why did I ever go in there?) where someone was disappointingly comparing a promotional cgi trailer with gameplay. Of course it looks different, this isn’t exactly a revelation in video games.
Anyways, yeah these widespread crashing issues need to be solved ASAP. I’m thankful to have not had them but I do feel for those who are trying to fairly judge the game but are unable to. As you said, good luck to them!
@Jimmer-jammer
Cigs, cell phones, and a few things I couldn't readily identify all seem to be imbued with the power to resist gravity. Amazing!
I've tried to fight my growing cynicism towards people as I've grown older, but the way people so eagerly are willing to take up a torch to burn the witch tries me.
Of course, I can't speak for everybody, but this is NOT even the worst video game release I've seen, and truly, it's MILES from being a bad game. Even with the bugs, it's the second favorite game I've played in a year and a half. I WANT people to like it, to get the same feeling out of it that I am, but who knows. Maybe 6 months or so. I'm still totally glad to play it in it's present state, because on my system each patch has been somewhat of a revelation, making good even better.
