Should you want to get in the mood for Halloween a week ahead of time, Sony is providing PS Plus Premium users with a two new Trials on the service's top tier, all for PS5 horror games.

All available from Tuesday, 20th October 2026, members can sample the following:

These additions were highlighted alongside yesterday's PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium update for October 2026. Sony also suggests you try The Sinking City 2, Valheim, Toxic Commando, and Directive 8020, all recently added to the list of PS Plus Premium Trials.

For those who don't know, these Trials allow PS Plus Premium subscribers to play the opening of games, generally for up to three hours. This lets you get a good feel for the title, and then you can judge if you want to actually buy the game or not.

We reviewed both Mortal Shell 2 and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy upon their PS5 releases, and they come highly recommended. I've embedded our reviews below:

Mortal Shell 2 PS5 Review

Mortal Shell 2 is a soulslike that cuts to the chase. It’s home to a stuffed interconnected world with a wide variety of enemies, dungeons, and little secrets, which make it a delight to explore. Each discovery of a new shell, weapon, or sidearm meaningfully impacts your playstyle, and levelling up is a fun and satisfying process. It loses steam a little towards the end, with some irritating backtracking, but overall this is a brilliant new addition to the genre and, by all accounts, a far improved sequel.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy PS5 Review

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy takes the series in a more combat-focused direction, and it pays off for the most part. This is a strong, cinematic blend of swordfights, puzzles, and parkour that still looks and feels a lot like A Plague Tale experience. A very slow start and a dreadful frame rate mar the third entry, though Resonance still comes out the other side a solid instalment.
