Re: Sony's Superhero PS5, PC Fighter Entering the 'Final Stages' of Development

AdamNovice

@Athrum It comes from the recent trailer. At the end when it says "which team is next" the screen goes green for a few frames. If you pause it, you can see a few bits of graffiti. Spider-Man has his face scratched out and the number 5 next to him. In Spider-man issue 5 he faced Dr Doom, so it's a big hint that his team is next. Where Carnage comes into it is on that same screen there's the number 361 in the bottom left corner. And Spider-Man issue 361 happens to be Carnage's first appearance.
So a lot of people are convinced that he is in the game. It's not certain but with such strong hints, it would be odd for them to hint at a character and not deliver.

Re: Another Highly Regarded PSVR2 Dev on the Brink After Mass Layoffs

@Jaz007 I agree that they went too far in the live service push. They didn't need to greenlight between 12 to 15 games.
Initially I thought they were going about it the right way by partnering with studios with experience in that area. But then when you hear about Bluepoint doing a live service GoW game it's like "huh...what?"

Re: Another Highly Regarded PSVR2 Dev on the Brink After Mass Layoffs

AdamNovice

@Jaz007 I don't think they will see it like that, live service games have far more revenue potential that it dwarfs anything VR brings. Even with the failure of Concord, Helldivers 2, MLB and Gran Turismo would have brought in a lot of money. As a VR fan, I don't like it either mate but that's sadly the way it is.

Re: Sony's $7.85M Settlement Could Mean PSN Payouts for Millions

AdamNovice

@Splat Capcom are doing what they are doing because all their games run on the RE Engine so they can reuse a lot of assets, which is great for getting games out sooner but the flip side is it makes most of their games look the same.
PlayStation studios on the other hand work with their own engines and tech.

Re: Another Highly Regarded PSVR2 Dev on the Brink After Mass Layoffs

AdamNovice

They were one of the most prolific studios in the VR space so it's sad to see them like that.
VR in general is becoming even more niche now then it was before. There's just no money in it now.
Shuei Yosida was asked about what happened to PSVR 2 and he said no comment. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony had more plans for the headset but it was jettisoned for other priorities like their live service push. Which from a business POV I can understand but it still sucks, especially when Sony didn't even bother to port over the best PSVR 1 games.

Re: These Numbers Explain Why Sony Is Stopping Porting PS5 Games to PC

AdamNovice

Steam just seems like a completely different market. You get games like Peak that blows up big on there but God of War or Spider-Man can't even do half a million?
I always believed that PC players didn't care about PlayStation nor their IPs, they just love the idea of their games being on PC. Especially if it accelerates consoles being obsolete.

Re: The Last of Us Online Was 'the Best Multiplayer Game' Devs Ever Played

AdamNovice

It's funny how developers never say "yeah the game was cancelled because it was crap."

I think it was shelved because it took too long to make as it was and at a great cost and still needed a fair bit to go. Plus it's ideas for monetization would be limited because of the IP. Cosmetics would just be regular clothes and backpacks and that isn't exciting compared to games like Overwatch and Destiny. Also how quickly could Naughty Dog get more meaningful content out the door? They aren't exactly known for being super quick after all. They probably would would need a very big team dedicated to it but it would then start to effect their single player games.

Re: Uncertainty Surrounds Rumoured Venom PS5 Game

AdamNovice

@Vivisapprentice I wouldn't be at all surprised if Insomniac will treat it as their last Spider-Man game. With the villains they've got lined up in Goblin, Doc Ock, Chameleon and Carnage (if the Venom game isn't happening) add into the mix maybe up to 4 playable characters in Peter, Miles, Silk and maybe Venom and yeah it could be a big game. I just hope they don't do major rewrites that compromised SM2's 3rd act.

Re: Uncertainty Surrounds Rumoured Venom PS5 Game

Leaving aside the sad passing of Tony Todd, it makes no business sense for them not to make a Venom game. Especially as a PS6 launch game. Miles Morales did great business as a PS5 game despite it being cross gen and Venom has ten times the popularity.
