Re: Rumour: God of War Dev Working on 'A New Franchise Within the God of War Universe'

The whole "it'll feel like a new IP" has me thinking that it's more then just a different setting, maybe it'll be reflected in the gameplay. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the game could be in first person. It would certainly differ from GoW in that regard.
As for who the lead is well insiders already ruled out Atreus, so my money is it being Faye in a story set before she met Kratos.
I wouldn't rule out Tyr, Thrudd or Sigrun either, that's assuming it's going to be someone already established.

Re: Hands On: Marathon Is Dense, Demanding, and Drop Dead Gorgeous

I'm a bit bummed by the two hours I've spent playing it. I absolutely love the artstyle and the presentation, it's like some over sensory, cybernetic nightmare.
But the UI (as others have said) is too busy, I had trouble understanding what certain loot is during the game because I'm always worried at getting shot at while I'm looking at my inventory.
While the game does allow you to play solo, I'm not finding it fun, attempting to shoot AI is pretty much a death sentence because they hit like a truck so you don't feel incentivised in engaging with the combat.
Basically just get in, quickly grab loot till your inventory is full (which won't take long) and hope to get out without being seen by anyone.

Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It

AdamNovice

The remakes just simply didn't bring in the numbers, the only one that would have sold big numbers was Bloodborne but if FromSoft is uncomfortable with it then Sony ultimately decided to keep that relationship healthy. After all, Sony own stakes in the company and if such time came along that Sony bought Kadakawa then FromSoft would become a 1st party studio so it's important that they don't rock the boat.

Re: For Some Reason, Sony Apparently Got Gran Turismo 7 Running on Switch 2

AdamNovice

Well Sony did port Lego Horizon to Switch so it's possible that might have gotten hold of some dev kits for a possible upgrade.

Clearly Sony are testing the waters for a handheld. I hope that with the possibility of PS6 being delayed that they don't do the same with the handheld. I'd rather be able to play PS4/5 games with the option of streaming PS6 titles in future. That way it keeps costs down, hopefully a better battery life and they can always do an upgraded model later.

Re: Sony Goes Silent on Social Media for Over 72 Hours as Fans Turn Feral Following Bluepoint Closure

AdamNovice

I don't blame them, all the people tweeting are just abusing the community managers running the accounts.

According to Detective Seed on Twitter (who spoke to two BP members) it was them that pitched the GoW game during development of Ragnarok but they underestimated the scope it would require and they kept missing milestones (something Sony has gotten harder on after Concord) so Sony pulled the plug. After that BP tried to pitch some remakes but Sony rejected them, though one project got the greenlight by another studio instead of BP (probably the GoW remakes).
If all this is true then the responsibility falls on both parties.
Bluepoint for moving too soon out of their remake niche by pitching a game they were ill equipped to handle.
And Sony for not recognising that from early on which lead to the cancellation and ultimately I think Sony lost faith in them.

Re: Sony's Left Bloodborne Fans More Frustrated Than Ever Following Bluepoint Shutdown

AdamNovice

Everyone has been making the assumption that Bluepoint actually wanted to to keep remaking games.
From the Insomniac hack a couple of years ago they had the lifetime sales of all of Bluepoint's games and it came to 7.5 million. Despite IPs like Uncharted, Demon's Souls. God of War and Gravity Rush, most of them barely passed 500k. Maybe that puts things into a bit of perspective as to why they were making a live service game in the first place. It's also another reminder that the hardcore PlayStation audience isn't big enough to make the games they say they want successful.

Re: Sony Makes Shocking Decision to Shut Down Bluepoint Games

AdamNovice

As gutted as I am, I do have to wonder why Bluepoint in particular was chosen?
Was it too expensive to run a studio is Austin Texas?
Were they not up to the job of making their own game hence the cancelled GoW game?
And were remakes and remasters not bringing the required numbers to make the studio viable?
