@PuppetMaster Same thing happened to Concord as well. You can only get so much feedback from friends and peers, actual players will tell you the main problems.
That's good to know. A lot of the common criticisms was that auto combos were too good and that there wasn't much incentive to tag other characters. It's always going to be a tricky balancing act between being a 4v4 and a 1v1 with assists.
The whole "it'll feel like a new IP" has me thinking that it's more then just a different setting, maybe it'll be reflected in the gameplay. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the game could be in first person. It would certainly differ from GoW in that regard.
As for who the lead is well insiders already ruled out Atreus, so my money is it being Faye in a story set before she met Kratos.
I wouldn't rule out Tyr, Thrudd or Sigrun either, that's assuming it's going to be someone already established.
I'm a bit bummed by the two hours I've spent playing it. I absolutely love the artstyle and the presentation, it's like some over sensory, cybernetic nightmare.
But the UI (as others have said) is too busy, I had trouble understanding what certain loot is during the game because I'm always worried at getting shot at while I'm looking at my inventory.
While the game does allow you to play solo, I'm not finding it fun, attempting to shoot AI is pretty much a death sentence because they hit like a truck so you don't feel incentivised in engaging with the combat.
Basically just get in, quickly grab loot till your inventory is full (which won't take long) and hope to get out without being seen by anyone.
The remakes just simply didn't bring in the numbers, the only one that would have sold big numbers was Bloodborne but if FromSoft is uncomfortable with it then Sony ultimately decided to keep that relationship healthy. After all, Sony own stakes in the company and if such time came along that Sony bought Kadakawa then FromSoft would become a 1st party studio so it's important that they don't rock the boat.
I always preferred if they kept there single player games exclusive to the console so I welcome this but it makes me worried about the future of Nixxes. They have been doing great work over the last few years with their PC ports and the Horizon remaster was exceptional.
Well Sony did port Lego Horizon to Switch so it's possible that might have gotten hold of some dev kits for a possible upgrade.
Clearly Sony are testing the waters for a handheld. I hope that with the possibility of PS6 being delayed that they don't do the same with the handheld. I'd rather be able to play PS4/5 games with the option of streaming PS6 titles in future. That way it keeps costs down, hopefully a better battery life and they can always do an upgraded model later.
If all these people complaining actually bought Bluepoint's games then maybe they would still be open. It's the Japan Studio situation all over again, it seems that many love the idea of them existing but not the idea of actually buying their games.
@Shinnok789 I seriously doubt they will cast all them for the first series otherwise it'll be too many characters. There's realistically only Freya left.
Hope I get in. Here's hoping it's gameplay will turn some of the negativity around.
@Areus You have people who bemoan the loss of Bluepoint but want the likes of Bungie and Haven to go. They don't care about the overall health of the industry, they just want certain type of games and F everything else.
I don't blame them, all the people tweeting are just abusing the community managers running the accounts.
According to Detective Seed on Twitter (who spoke to two BP members) it was them that pitched the GoW game during development of Ragnarok but they underestimated the scope it would require and they kept missing milestones (something Sony has gotten harder on after Concord) so Sony pulled the plug. After that BP tried to pitch some remakes but Sony rejected them, though one project got the greenlight by another studio instead of BP (probably the GoW remakes).
If all this is true then the responsibility falls on both parties.
Bluepoint for moving too soon out of their remake niche by pitching a game they were ill equipped to handle.
And Sony for not recognising that from early on which lead to the cancellation and ultimately I think Sony lost faith in them.
@datamonkey It's the same with the Bluepoint situation, we ultimately don't know what goes on behind the scenes. We can only go by the optics and as soon as I saw that there replacing Phil Spencer with someone from the AI sector just has me thinking that MS are changing leadership so they can have the division on the same page as the bosses.
I wonder now if this is Microsoft as whole completely taking over Xbox. I'm fairly certain if Phil Spencer had been fully in charge then we wouldn't have seen them go multiplatform.
I mean Sony were promoting games soon after Firewall was closed down. Didn't see people standing up for them. Gamers only care about studios as long as they make the games they want.
Everyone has been making the assumption that Bluepoint actually wanted to to keep remaking games.
From the Insomniac hack a couple of years ago they had the lifetime sales of all of Bluepoint's games and it came to 7.5 million. Despite IPs like Uncharted, Demon's Souls. God of War and Gravity Rush, most of them barely passed 500k. Maybe that puts things into a bit of perspective as to why they were making a live service game in the first place. It's also another reminder that the hardcore PlayStation audience isn't big enough to make the games they say they want successful.
As gutted as I am, I do have to wonder why Bluepoint in particular was chosen? Was it too expensive to run a studio is Austin Texas? Were they not up to the job of making their own game hence the cancelled GoW game? And were remakes and remasters not bringing the required numbers to make the studio viable?
I think it should be a mixture of both. Over the shoulder for puzzles and exploration but the camera pulls right back for combat and boss fights. It's the study that needs updating because it was always mostly service level, I think they should lean into more why he's hellbent on revenge.
If it's a GoW spinoff then there's no shortage of characters they can use. Atreus looking for the giants. Faye before she met Kratos. Thrudd now uses Mjolnir. Sigrun left the Valkyries to go on a journey. Tyr travelled to different pantheons.
I don't think you'll see games have VR options now unless there's tech that allows it to be converted automatically without extra development. The money just isn't there now.
People really do moan at anything these days. Fair enough if coop mode was behind a paywall but it isn't you just have to play the game...I know tragic.
Portable Ops should absolutely be there, the story is canon to the series and set before Peace Walker. I do wonder if there will be a 3rd collection that includes Rising, Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain. The Acid games should be added as well.

@nolifebr What I tend to do is get the game day 1 (If I wanted it) and just get season passes when they get discounted.
