With Fatal Fury and Tekken getting anime characters, I wonder if this will become a bit of a trend. I still think Chainsaw Man is perfect for Guilty Gear and frankly Guts is long overdue to be in a fighting game.
I heard Arkane and InXile could be ones in trouble as well maybe even Obsidian, they if I were Xbox I'd have them work on Fallout going forward. I wouldn't be surprised if Turn 10, went as well. It seems like MS just want to double down on evergreen IPs now: Halo Gears of War Forza Horizon Elder Scrolls Call of Duty Fallout
@pyrrhic_victory I rated Eidos Montreal very highly. Loved their Deus Ex games and their Guardians of the galaxy game was my GOTY in the year it came out. It was actually quite a PS Studios like game in many ways. I do wish Sony got them but sadly not too be.
I think Sony are hanging fire to see how the months of February and March are looking. I reckon April is going to be the date. It's just that usually Sony attaches a year when they know a game is going to hit it, so that's what thrown everyone off.
@Luigia In terms of the big companies I'd say yes. There was a huge acquisition spree because gaming saw huge growth during COVID but of course it was never going to last. I often wonder how these big successful companies couldn't see that coming but as I understand they are obligated to spend the investment money regardless.
So not only are Microsoft content with showing games in their showcases years out from release only to see said games get cancelled in the case of Contraband, Everwild and Perfect Dark. But now they want to shop round their own studios on those shows because Xbox aren't getting enough of a profit to keep them on?
I know some on here like the idea of a healthy Xbox because "it breeds competition" yeah I saw Microsoft's idea of competition and I'm content without it. It serves them right after they spent a fortune so they can in their own words "spend Sony out of business" in a idiotic attempt to turn the entire industry into one that relied only on subscriptions. No ownership, no physical editions, no used game market, all because they couldn't beat Sony and Nintendo in hardware because they had a brand that had next to no reach outside America. There like one of those spoiled trust fund babies who think they can answer all their problems by throwing money at it, only for old daddy deep pockets to give them the long overdue reality check.
Capcom lost both the game director and the combat director to Square Enix I believe. So it's not surprising that we haven't seen a new entry in awhile.
At least they can try and set the benchmark for "independent AAA" games. Which was how they marketed the first Hellblade game only to sell out to Microsoft less then a year after release.
@HonestHick 2 billion for their entire PC slate was shockingly low for the cost it would have cost them to port. Someone I saw online described the situation perfectly. PlayStation are a restaurant with a slightly shrinking menu. Xbox are a restaurant with a rapidly shrinking costumer base.
@PuppetMaster I'm currently going through GoW Ragnarok and the dialogue is pretty much the same as it is in Laufey. Some have complained that the characters sound "too contemporary" god knows what that means, maybe they expect everyone to say "me god, me attack" or something.
I feel like Housemarque are in the same boat as Remedy where they make high quality games but not enough people seem interested. I think they need to tackle an established IP next as it probably represents their best chance of a commercial hit.
I've seen it all now. The game just got announced and probably knowing they would get some backlash because you play as Faye, it makes sense to put out as much information as possible.
Also GoW is Sony's biggest homegrown franchise in both commercial and critical relevance. So of course there going to market the hell out of it.
I wasn't impressed by the demo tbh, it looked a bit drab and frankly the RE Engine games are starting to look samey (not helped by having a Resi game every year) plus I found the controls a bit weird (square to block and parry? Really?) It's just as well that Wolverine and Dune will occupy my time in September.
In other words if Gears flops and Halo and Forza Horizon are big sellers on Playstation then they will change their minds again. I just don't see what benefit they gain now. It's ten years too late, not enough people will go back to Xbox.
What I would do with Bungie is (apart from preventing significant layoffs) is green light D3. Continue with Marathon for at least a year.
And finally have them work with Nixxes to do a Destiny 1 remaster for consoles and PC. That way it keeps the IP ticking over while the fans wait for the 3rd game.
@get2sammyb Maybe because they weren't expecting D2 to end anytime soon plus Marathon was in deep development so it didn't feel like there was any need for a Destiny 3 anytime soon. I know you've not liked the whole Bungie acquisition but I think you're been a bit harsh.
It has to be delayed at this point, can't see it being shadow dropped. The earliest I expect it to come out is December when things would have calmed down a bit. GTA will still dominate but I think it's either that or January because February is looking stacked already.
@ShadowRJ That's the one I fear for the most out of the big games. Onimusha has the Capcom momentum at least. Blood walker is very early in the month and Dune awakening has the PC player base to fall back on.

Re: Sony Finally Speaks on PC Cancellations, Wants to Enhance Value of PS5
"Sony speaks so little in the public domain"
Which is in stark contrast to Xbox who do nothing but talk. Personally I prefer to let the games do the talking.

More PS3 era games coming over is always welcome regardless of it been Cod.

Is there a reason why they've called the expansion Dark Arisen again?

@dskatter No but I can see some thinking that it does lol
Re: Another Sony Security Concern: PS5 Games People Don't Own Are Appearing on Their Profiles
Funny how the games shown are rather dodgy looking and then CoD to just add some sort of legitimacy.
Re: Poll: What's Your PS5 Game of the Year for 2026 So Far?
With the exception of Damon and Baby, every game has gotten at least one vote which is a big positive.
Mine are:
1. Saros
2. Cairn
3. Lego Batman
4. God of War Sons of Sparta
5. Marathon

@wildcat_kickz With the utmost respect mate, I hope you're wrong.

I just hope it doesn't lead to more studio closures within PS studios.

Does this mean that we have to comment in the 3rd person now?
Re: South of Midnight Maker Said to Be Shuttered by Xbox
With each passing day the decision to make any of their games exclusive becomes even more laughable.
I fear for Double Fine as well. Keeper really could have done with PS5 and Switch ports.

I respect that they don't want to just remake Forza Horizon.
Re: Even with PS5 Ports, Many of Xbox's Games Have Been Underperfoming
Xbox are finding out the same thing Sony did in the PS4 era. People want the big games but not the more experimental niche ones.
@Evil-C They do for there AAA games, no way they will make profits by just being on Xbox and PC.
