Once it at a good price. It’s a very old game that’s had the multiplayer removed. Maybe if it hits £15 I think. Really should have come in a collection though if they expect anyone to pay close to full price.

Glad it doesn’t. No interest in playing with strangers, and it would have made the platinum campaign annoying if I wanted to100% the game. Shame for those who have gaming friends with time and similar interests I guess.

In light of the season I thought I’d get a spooky game, but VR has ruined pancake “horror” games for me, so I got the somewhat spooky but not terror inducing (a real thing in VR for me lol) The 7th Guest. Enjoying the puzzles and spooky atmosphere so far.

I also downloaded Fate/Samurai Remnant, but hear Sony have censored it beyond what other platforms allow. Will look to play it elsewhere if this is the case, does anyone have details on this as Google and Sony are not being helpful.

May give it a try if it’s a reasonable price for a remake of such an old game, a few new missions or not. I say £25 max. Honestly, I always found Halo a bit “floaty” and lacking impact (I had 2 and 3 briefly) but I always wanted to live it. Its story was right up my street.

This all pretty much makes sense. The main thing that surprised me here, was to learn that MS renumerates games on Gamepass based on hours played. That’s nonsensical. The value of a subscription service lies in having loads of games that people don’t have to buy individually and so save money. MS should be incentivising games that are played, but not for too long. A game someone plays for 200hr is a game that teaches people they are losing money by paying for it via Gamepass

The social hang out “games” she is talking about are a completely different form of entertainment to the games I grew up with and am interested in. Sure, for “games” like she mentions locking it to one format is antiquated due to the number of players needed to rinse the most profit out of the market possible. But the best games will always be exclusive because they are made as much to sell hardware as anything else, and will not need to be as profitable as Fortnite. They can also make the most use of the hardware potential without needing to be playable on a 5 year old phone.

My situation too (although I am hardwired and streaming is still better over the cloud). I used it for 10 days while at a work thing and it worked flawlessly while there in Southampton; tried to do similar in Birmingham though and it didn’t work. Really is down to the WiFi strength so my mileage varies. Haven’t tried it abroad as I’ve been banned from bringing it on holiday, but I guess it would work the same? Although I’m not sure if I can access my UK sub outside of the EU…

They are saying they will expand it, but this is Sony, wouldn’t surprise me if they kept in just a subscription bonus to keep people paying.

Keep developing VR (and the power is still needed for that). He’s right, pancake games have reached a point of massively diminishing returns and I can’t think of much else, hardware wise, that will help with that.

Saints row craziness in VR with that character creator…yes please. In fact pretty much anything in VR yes please.

More problematic is that her bust has no jiggle - encouraging our natural beauties to want the silicon look.

If they announce PSVR3 then I’m day one because, let’s face it, the price won’t drop and it’ll make me sure I’ll want it. If not then I won’t be day one and, depending on what’s released, I may not get it for years.

In all honesty, this might be the first gen I have had a console at launch since I’ve been earning my own money. Looking at the games I play, they are almost all indie or otherwise cross gen.

lol, I only go for trophies if I’m enjoying the game and want more challenges. If I just played for the story I’d be finished soon. Sure I could go for the prophesies but most are just collectibles. I’ll hopefully get the platinum, but if it becomes too much of a chore I’ll drop it (I have about a 40% completion rate for platinums because I only care for about 40% of games enough to go for them).
Very glad I have them to keep me engaged here (and that’s the case for many roguelikes), as I have started skimming most of the dialogue now.

About 60hrs into Hades at the moment. Still need to finish a couple of runs to finish the actual story then work on the trophy challenges - getting all the summons, finishing at higher difficulty levels, fulfilling the required prophesies etc. A great game with only a couple of annoyances.

About 60hrs into Hades and just now starting to feel the grind (so I just put god mode on for help on the higher heats - 80% damage reduction I imaging will help a lot - kind of wish I never had that option though). This may well be my next game. Really digging my roguelikes at the moment.

Edit: only £17.99? Nearly pulled the trigger immediately, before remembering to wait until the trophies are live to ensure there aren’t any bugs there. Everything still at 0% so I presume they aren’t ready yet.

Plus the lack of endgame content and modifiers means it might be best to wait a couple of months, especially as the trophy challenges don’t seem to be completionist in nature.

Edit2: seems trophies aren’t bugged, but that there is an “accessibility” setting that lets you turn off all damage and hit many times harder, and it doesn’t disable trophies unfortunately. That takes all the fun out of the trophy campaign and makes me reassess whether to spend time on this or not.

The hope was that these, what I’m now going to call Social Hang out Distractions (or SHODies), would encourage a new generation to discover a whole new world of actual gaming. Instead they are happy to mindlessly pay and pay for new clothes to show to each other.

I’ll typically buy games if in a good sale or cheap secondhand. I just don’t need to spend much when I have dozens of games in my backlog. Just bought Hades for £20, and that’s generally my baseline per month. Plus I get PS Premium. All told I probably spend a few hundred a year. So not much. Thank you Microtransactions kids for subsidising my hobby!

Glad I waited now. Sure, people say it’s made for people who have finished, and you can fire up your save…but I’ve usually forgotten everything and played several new games by the time DLC comes out.

Stop it. I spent 100-200hrs in each mainline game (apart from 6) and the story was complete as intended. Just leave it be so I don’t feel I’m missing out, lol.

Things like this are fine, as long as it disables trophies…I’m currently playing Hades, but the cheat mode always calling to me is annoying. If there was a disincentive to using it, like disabling trophies (which is a logical restriction anyway) I’d be more at peace. Same with this had I not already finished the game.

People say competition is good, but with MS I disagree. They know they aren’t going to be able to pull people away from the games they own in another ecosystem, so their only chance would be to totally change the paradigm (subscription, streaming etc). If they succeed I honestly don’t think it would be good for gamers. We already see they are trying to force price increases by including crap few gamers want in their highest tier. It would end up leading to less choice when games become subscription exclusive further down the line.
No, I’d be happy with Nintendo, Sony, and PC battling it out. Keep the sub and streaming companies away from mainstream gaming for as long as possible.

Got into unicorn overload as it was one of the few interesting streamable games on plus I hadn’t played, and I was stuck in a hotel for 9 days…now I can’t stop playing it. Everything else on hold currently.

I’d honestly get it if they hadn’t F’d up the Remaster in multiple ways.

I’m tired of dark mature themes generally. Go back to Japanese wackiness and aesthetics please. Or just combine the two, like in the original Yakuza saga.

To be honest though, I’ve not been really engrossed in a new video game story since Lost Odyssey, which was the beginning of the 360 gen.

He can do what he wants, but with some games it’s the “localisation team” that make the final difference.

Well, extra is the same price as the Xbox premium if you pay per month. But you get first party games from MS after a year and some streaming…personally I think PS Premium is best, but best is still not that great.

I get premium for about £100 a year I think, maybe a bit less. And I do so mainly because it’s like £20 more than the Extra tier and lets me stream to my Portal. If it went up to this I’d probably stop subscribing altogether.

Man, what a disappointment this remaster was. Thought they might finally fix it but they barely addressed the glaring problems of the original, plus added technical issues.

I guess it’ll allow them to do temporary Christmas sales and such

Actually never played Parasite Eve, but this one looks like a game I’d like. Especially the combat system and art design.

Personally no. Not really my genres. I did plat the first goat simulator but didn’t really feel the need for more once finished.

The thing people are usually concerned about in these situations is that non western cultural ideals will change the product; ironically, here, I think it could make things better.

I wouldn’t expect Saudi to finalise a sale. Gambling and lottery is illegal there and against their culture, if they remain consistent that will gut the profitability of EAs biggest franchises (for the better in my opinion, but hey).

I generally dislike games that are never finished / completeable, and definitely will not play a game if it removes content to encourage FOMO. And generally won’t play a game that is deliberately trying to be trendy for young people (I’m 42)…yet you have me intrigued.

I’d also be concerned if it is a heavily online game. I mean if it plans to make money from selling cosmetics can I presume it will be social in the open world element?

I’ll have to learn more about how the story unfolds, but it sounds like it draws heavily from the yakuza games, which is my favourite series of all time.

I just watched the gameplay vid and, my god it’s gorgeous, and I very much love the character models.if it manages to be a single player game without all the usual free game failings then great, but I’d be a lot happier just to hear it was a totally offline paid for product.

Must admit, kind of annoyed they are adding to what’s, for me, a complete and finished story in a couple of yakuza games now. Do I want to commit anything up to 200hrs to play through again to experience those additions? Not really. But now I feel like I don’t have the full experience. Can’t they just keep making additional games that don’t add in to what people have experienced already?

I do wonder whether they “fixed” the minigames that became harder in the switch to 60fps. Getting the plat on 3 was a little frustrating because of it if I remember correctly.

Edit: I’ll probably play through them all again from 0 lol. Best series ever. Maybe they won’t be as block heavy in the 3 remake.

Never played last of us part 2…the first had an ok story but I’m not a stealth fan. Guess I’ll finish the story with this.

Best game of the generation for me. Everything is totally on point.

In VR this would be beautiful. On a flat screen several metres from me I can’t see that stuff too well.

I like something for getting trophies, but won’t be buying tat. I’m willing to pay postage and packing for my platinum reward, if it’s good in itself, but this money is crazy (Get me an Astro bot figure or something and i might consider it). I wouldn’t really call the chance to purchase something a reward though.

Makes more sense than censoring Japanese boob jiggle and such, but equally bad obviously. Censorship is just bad period.
