I wanna see this game in action before I get giddy.
I also wonder if they'll bring any characters back from the dark horse comics they released a few years ago, there were about three I think but my was the one about the elven squire/rogue and the elderly human knight whose names I can't remember. I'd like to see those two come back, they had a nice dynamic.
@crimsontadpoles they never said that, they were always going to provide free updates, bad launch or no. With tw3 CDPR set a precedent for paid DLC expansions in addition to smaller, free updates and they made it clear they'd continue that with cyberpunk
The voice acting and animations on NPCs have me worried (the dialogue in general, but it's victorian era so I guess we can excuse it being a bit stilted) but I'd play this even if it was an absolute turd cos I love harry potter games. The environments are also gorgeous, they've made Hogwarts look absolutely stunning.
@AnnetteM DA origins is a must play if you can. It shows its age but it's still very charming, and the story and world building are up there with the best.
I did this dance before when waiting for persona 5 news back in 2013 (I just realised that's nearly 10 years ago now and I've made myself sad, wow.) There is absolutely no point in expecting news for this game any time soon. Anniversaries will come and go and every time they'll tease and tease something new and then it'll end up being personakart or a limited release of phone charms or something. P6 will land when they're ready, they probably don't want to repeat the never ending delays situation they had with p5 and honestly I'd much rather just not see any of it til it's almost ready for me to play it anyway. There's other games.
Getting back into this finally after taking a break from when I finished SHB. Everyone has that one game that has a hold on them, this one is it for me. Possibly one of my favourites of all time, which is impressive since I'm not an MMO person and really don't enjoy playing games with other people at all tbh. Something about Eorzea always pulls me back!
This whole thing has seemed from the start to have been something that would have made a gorgeous, insane animated feature film, but they don't get paid to make films they get paid to make games so they had to try and construct a game around their idea. So we end up with three very beautiful marketing videos that tell us absolutely nothing about the product they eventually want us to buy. Very confusing. I'm pretty sure it'll come out eventually to critical disregard and we'll all forget about it within three months.
I'll be checking this out, I love stardew valley/harvest moon/story of seasons type games. Another one in the same vein is graveyard keeper, which is a ton of fun. it's only on steam though unfortunately there's no console port available
looks super pretty! I'm loving the art style. I wasn't aware of this franchise at all but I think I'll give this one a look. Like other people have said, chinese mythology is rich and beautiful and not really a thing in the western gaming industry. I'm always up for a departure from traditional western fantasy, as much as I love it it does get a bit old
the phrase 'goblins, arisen!' lives rent free in my mind thanks to this game
beyond excited for more goofy, delightful fantasy action. I hope they keep the insanely varied character creator, too, and the ability to toss your party members off of cliffs for absolutely no reason
I genuinely will miss E3, though I get why it's not really needed anymore and devs prefer reveals that won't be overshadowed by 1000000 other releases and trailers. E3's always the weekend before or after my birthday though so it always felt like a special present just for me, lots of shiny trailers and gameplay showcases. The odd state of play presentation, while actually a better deal, doesn't really have the same sense of excitement and anticipation as the annual showcase did. Ah well.
I'd recommend this game to anyone, now that the performance is what it's supposed to be and it's got a nice price cut. It's a shame CDPR really really let themselves down on release because the game itself is good, the story is amazing, the characters and romance options are mostly great (river is meh so sucks to be het female V) and night city is so, so gorgeous I've spent hours driving around it just enjoying the sights.
I wasn't overly hyped for this one, zero dawn was good but it didn't have me chomping at the bit for a follow up. If it's as good as initial reviews are saying though then I'll probably pick it up sooner than intended.
I played the whole game on my 6ish year old ps4 and, while the performance did let the game down massively, I would still call it one of my favourite games of all time. I get why people would be put off by the game and by CDPR as a whole following the whole debacle, but I'd definitely recommend giving it a try if you can find it preowned/on sale though.
This is great news. I've always maintained for people willing to put in the hefty time investment (and sub investment too) it's an immensely rewarding game. I genuinely believe It's got some of the best storytelling in video games hands down. I let my sub lapse for a little over a year now but I'm thinking I'll probably jump back in once endwalker releases
I was skeptical of the appeal of genshin impact but it won me over to its charms and I've played it most days for the past month. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun timesink with cute characters and a reasonably compelling plot (it's very anime rpg-ish, but it's decent)
@Ken_Kaniff I dunno, I disagree with that. It's more similar to super mario IMO, in the sense that there's a whole bunch of different games and spinoff titles, and the series sees a few releases a year across a bunch of platforms but in general each title is its own unique thing. Some are great, a lot are just okay, but you never get the sense when playing any one of them that they've just copy/pasted the last title in the series and added some flair to make it seem different.
A Final Fantasy soulslike has me rolling my eyes a bit, but Nioh was a solid game. I'll be willing to give it a try
I'm not thrilled about it but I'd already planned to buy a gaming PC in the next few years anyway. Not to mention, TES6 isn't coming out for a while, and I'm not really interested in Starfield since space sci-fi isn't my jam. I'll miss Dishonored loads, but again that's a franchise that's been shelved for the time being at least so nbd.
This is what they do for some concert tickets, high profile merch drops etc. in Japan so I'm glad they're trying the same thing here. I reckon the bots will still win, but at least suppliers are actually trying something to combat them this time.
I'm loving the game, despite its issues. They'll get fixed in time and I'm happy to wait, but it's honestly not been too bad for me even on my 4 year old PS4. I'm glad people who are unhappy have options, though. There should really be this sort of refund programme available for all games, regardless of the state of them at launch.
I swear these seem to come around faster every year I think it's gonna be a quiet one for me this year, Cyberpunk 2077 is the only known title I'm really excited for. I'm hoping we'll get some surprises, though!
I'm not that bothered about 4 since it's my least favourite of the bunch but a remake of 3 that keeps the female protagonist option and all her associated social links would be an actual dream pls atlus
not to be overly cynical but with online components usually comes micro-transactions these days I wonder how the reddit gaming crowd would react to their 'pro-consumer' poster child turning to the dark side, as it were
man this was one slow E3 for me, i'm looking at that list and none of those titles have me excited at all. that's fine though, especially considering how good the past ~6 months have been for releases. I'm wondering if they're holding back any big announcements for PSX, but i guess time will tell
i wasn't expecting a dragon age 4 teaser but i'm still a little bit disappointed it didn't happen. bioware's new ip doesn't really interest me at all at first glance but maybe once we learn more i'll change my mind on it.
Ubi have notoriously let themselves settle into a really dull formula for their games these days, but they've always had unique concepts. this sure looks like something to keep an eye out for!
as a media student in my final year I can confirm I have a dynamite position as a shelf stocker lined up for next july, can't wait to put that degree to work as a spare tea towel when the rest are in the wash.
(for real though this is very well done, I just hope they payed the guys for the work they put in. wouldn't have guessed it wasn't professionally done.)
I got my 20th anniversary copy today, it's so cute. I was expecting the artbook to be a flimsy booklet tucked inside, but instead they made it a proper hardback book with the game kept in the back. my only qualm is that the bit that holds the game in place is hard plastic like you'd find in old cd cases, and I have terrible memories of snapping discs in half trying to get them out. other than that, I was pleasantly surprised, an awesome thing to have to commemorate a series I've loved and a character I've idolised since I was very young.
@hi-drnick oh yea, I don't speak japanese at all but I can agree with that. it's an issue anime in particular has, it lives and dies on cliches. Still, I can't imagine a better fit for a magnificent bastard mc than the guy who voiced lelouch, the original magnificent bastard.
it's so weird but the more I think about it the more I really dig it. maybe it's the dead ocean and the floating people in the sky and also the total lack of any meaning or explanation but there's a real evangelion vibe going on which I love.
this still looks so promising. Only thing i have an issue with is the dialogue between characters, the bit we saw seemed really stiff and unnatural. The music for this game sound amazing too, very haunting.
looks pretty cool, actually. i didn't get far into the first game precisely because of the lack of personality, everything seemed so dull and lifeless. I do think it had a lot of potential though, and I'll be interested to see if 2 makes use of that potential in any meaningful way.
it's a little jarring to see such a contrast in mood to the last one. I can't say it's a bad trailer, though, there's certainly a lot of personality and energy in there but it's just a question of if that's reflected in the game itself or if they repeat the same mistakes. We'll see!
I'd love love love to see more of it, some actual gameplay or even another CG trailer to build the world some more. This game looks 100% my kind of thing so I'm very excited to see more. An actual release next year seems, yeah, really improbable. it'd be nice, and stranger things have happened, but if you want a game as well crafted and vibrant as the witcher's then expect to wait another couple years at least.
