Virtua Fighter is back!
But while you wait for the new game from RGG Studio, there’s an opportunity to enjoy Virtua Fighter 5 all over again in its most complete form yet.
Releasing on PS5 from 30th October, the headline features here include rollback netcode, a new single player mode named World Stage, enhanced training options, and the inclusion of boss Dural as a playable character.

The game will cost $19.99, but if you already own Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown on PS4, you can upgrade to this new PS5 version for $9.99.
World Stage will see you taking on AI characters trained on the play style of various pros from around the world. It’s one way to hone your skills against the best before you go online!
Here’s the official blurb:
“In the all-new immersive single player mode, you'll travel the globe and compete in a massive tournament. Along the way, you'll encounter formidable foes, including CPUs based on world-renowned players. Climb up the ranks and claim the title of world champion!”
Meanwhile, the enhanced training mode will help you to get to grips with the intricacies of Virtua Fighter 5 better than ever before, with character specific tutorials, combo training, and the ability to pin commands on the screen.

Obviously Virtua Fighter 5 was a very early PS3 game, and it was one of our favourites at the time. But it’s come on leaps and bounds through various iterations over the years, and this version looks like the perfect tonic to hold us over until the release of the new game.
