it seems like this would just be a natural business decision. no matter how many xbox consoles are sold or how many pc/gamepass subscribers they get, why wouldn't you sell your games on other systems? you cant ignore the user base of playstation or Nintendo and they will be selling their games at a tasty £70 a pop! sure not everyone is gonna like/want everything but probably the vast majority are going to want something from their lineup, so its just extra money in the bank. yes, you could argue Microsoft don't need any extra money lol but they didn't get to where they are today without making money wherever they can 😉 and its not like they are lying about making games exclusive for xbox, a years exclusively on Xbox then hand it out to everyone else

totally agree with the people wanting folders, vrr, allm etc. backwards compatibility will never happen from old disk copies, but for me Sony has to combine psplus and psnow. its just a no brainer! best way to compete with gamepass, there's no ps1 games in psnow but you can buy them from the ps store, so come on sony let's join up psplus and psnow then you can hand your customers a ps1,2,3,4 and 5 game every month! not that I'm really interested in backwards compatibility, but plenty of peeps are!
l don't get it, what's the hassle with a constant connection? if your broadband isn't stable try a different provider! and if your WiFi goes down just set your smartphone up to share its 4g/5g connection so as you can get the game on. tbh I'm glad it's constantly online, l wanna see all my friends lap times/replays etc 😌 ....you know my internet AND 5g connection will go down simultaneously on the day l get this game right? lol 😁🥺

@thefourfoldroot the mid gen refresh was only possible for me because GAME (uk shop) had an offer of trading in your old ps4 and a few games to get the pro half price, my ps4 was knackered and the controller was a bit broken! so l thought sod it! I'll go for it. tbh I've been really pleased with it

are you playing on a base ps4 or ps4pro? I've only played VR on ps4pro but I've found everything running well on it, l spent 290hours in skyrimVR!
l literally got the pro solely for VR, l have no 4ktv, it has a boost mode and does its supersampling trick which can be used with VR games, but l have no comparison to what it's like on a base system. I'm hoping to see further improvements on ps5, but tbh they've haven't really said much about VR on ps5 so l hope that doesn't end up with a disappointment....
yup, l shall use it pretty much exclusively to begin with. in fact, it's the only reason I'm adopting ps5 on day one!
l have a HUGE backlog, but l am really looking forward to playing everything on ps5 with extra benefits (ghosts of tsushima l haven't even bought yet! 😁) and I'm also very interested to see what ps5 can do for psvr, whether tracking will be improved with the new camera for ps aim controller.... most games seem to be cross gen to begin with anyways.
I'd be tempted to buy GT7 if there's a surprise early release date, but l doubt that, it would have been confirmed by now as it would sell consoles. one thing I'm secretly hoping for is a patch to enable full psvr support for GTsport, which should be possible.... 🤔
@ThaBEN nothing has been said about this, that I've seen... however the ps5 has more than enough power to be able to play the whole game in VR, which is what I'm counting on. the psvr time trials you can do in GTsport are absolutely amazing and l really am hoping for full online racing in VR this time...

when Microsoft were trying to say that gaming is a universal thing and we're all one big community no matter where you play, it'll be funny if they start making divisions themselves! 😂 also, they've openly said that they don't consider playstation a competitor anymore as they are competing with stadia, geforce now and l guess luna (is it?) so again, why wouldn't you earn extra money for your games?
either way, l don't care! I've always had both consoles anyway... its just Microsoft are giving me a good reason to play xbox next gen with gamepass. reasons for playing playstation, for me, is psvr and ps exclusives, and that will never change! 😉
@GREGORIAN l do have a habit of being waaay too optimistic about stuff 😁 but, it could be possible for MS to achieve this. as gamepass is available, and also very attractive to PC gamers, it's conceivable that they could reach those sub numbers. also technically you don't even need a console, people could sub to gamepass with nothing but a controller and a tablet/smartphone! I've sampled game streaming on the nvidia shield TV console when it first released, its OK, not great but it works! and the tech is getting better.... and seriously it wouldn't surprise me if we see some kind of MS gamepass for ps5!! lmao! because all they are interested in is getting those sub numbers doesn't matter where they come from... it would probably just cost a little more on ps5 😉 not that playstation would ever entertain the thought!
basically MS have left it wide open for anyone to join, and they will because right now it's very attractive! it'll be down to MS to make it a success in the long run, if they can keep releasing 'high quality' games for single players and online multiplayers then it will be a success... if it ends up being a choice between ps5 with expensive very high quality games or xbox with great value but very low quality games l will be completely with sony, again! only time will tell, l don't think MS has finished buying yet though....
l feel a little bad for sony, they just can't compete with MS spending power and if MS suddenly decide to do a VR headset that's better than psvr2 they could be fighting an uphill battle

on a more positive thought (for MS) you can imagine that they are aiming sky high for their gamepass, of course they are! 😁 BUT, say they get to 100000000 subs? yes, that's optimistic but that would be pulling in just over a billion every month. surely that would be enough to keep all their first party devs making quality games including a proper fallout5? (yes l love fallout!) of course MS could just pocket that cash and still make crappy online, loot box filled games anyway! lol ...but if they fill the financial hole just until they have enough subs to pay for it all, it could just work!
your not a dying breed, my middle son is 16 and he hates digital, he likes a big collection you can display physically 😉 I'm 43, I've been gaming since l was 8 or so lol l like the convenience of digital, but normally l don't like the prices of them! one things for sure, this is going to be a very interesting generation. l count myself lucky I'm going to be able sample both consoles from the start (even if its the underpowered xbox)

Microsoft have done things perfectly, rewriting all the wrongs from this gen. I've always had both consoles but this gen has been all playstation and psvr for me, this gen I'm not so sure 🤔
I've already pre ordered ps5 but because of the xbox all access deal I've ordered an xbox series s too... l would have gone for the x but its rightly completely sold out. but this is the thing, if you're a mad gamer like me and have already secured a ps5, why not pick up the cheaper xbox for £20.99 a month for 2 years with gamepass included? (the deal is £10 CHEAPER than paying for console in full and subbing to gamepass for 2 years too!)

psvr is awesome, I've spent well over 1500 hours playing on it, the reduced resolution doesn't outweigh the immersion for me. the jump in graphics between psvr and psvr2 will probably be like from ps1 - ps2 so will be more obvious than what we're used to in modern console generations 😌 I'd like to see a few titles appear, fallout4 has a VR edition that ps4/psvr couldn't handle but with the extra power of ps5 should be possible now. also games like project cars, assetto corsa have pc VR already too and surely could be patched for ps5/psvr. gtsport has VR time trials (which are utterly amazing) but hasn't been able to do full online races in VR, with ps5 this would be possible. l doubt gt7 will be a launch title, so this would serve as a great void filler until its ready 😉 and I'd like to see new massive rpg games like skyrim VR, something you can sink 300+ hours into
@BowTiesAreCool the aim controller has 2 sticks on it for normal movement, its totally awesome! however l had issues with tracking, which kinda ruined the experience of farpoint, Arizona sun and bravo team. once the tracking is better it'll be the greatest peripheral of all time, maybe the new ps5 camera might sort it? 🤔
l want to know EVERYTHING! and l wanted that info in feb this year. this new gen seems to be dragging now, l just want all the info available for xsx and ps5. come on boys, lay ya cards on the table and show us what you got...

@thefourfoldroot if you've got them all from the c64 then l think you should keep it! that sounds like an amazing collection! l have none of my old systems (apart from ps3) and I've had all playstations and xbox's, few Nintendos and some segas! l started on the zx spectrum lol 😆 oh yes and an atari ste too 😁

@thefourfoldroot the mid gen refresh was only possible for me because GAME (uk shop) had an offer of trading in your old ps4 and a few games to get the pro half price, my ps4 was knackered and the controller was a bit broken! so l thought sod it! I'll go for it. tbh I've been really pleased with it
well, l was surprised that minecraft got a free psvr update recently so who knows? but you're probably right 😉

are you playing on a base ps4 or ps4pro? I've only played VR on ps4pro but I've found everything running well on it, l spent 290hours in skyrimVR!
l literally got the pro solely for VR, l have no 4ktv, it has a boost mode and does its supersampling trick which can be used with VR games, but l have no comparison to what it's like on a base system. I'm hoping to see further improvements on ps5, but tbh they've haven't really said much about VR on ps5 so l hope that doesn't end up with a disappointment....

yup, l shall use it pretty much exclusively to begin with. in fact, it's the only reason I'm adopting ps5 on day one!
l have a HUGE backlog, but l am really looking forward to playing everything on ps5 with extra benefits (ghosts of tsushima l haven't even bought yet! 😁) and I'm also very interested to see what ps5 can do for psvr, whether tracking will be improved with the new camera for ps aim controller.... most games seem to be cross gen to begin with anyways.
I'd be tempted to buy GT7 if there's a surprise early release date, but l doubt that, it would have been confirmed by now as it would sell consoles. one thing I'm secretly hoping for is a patch to enable full psvr support for GTsport, which should be possible.... 🤔

@ThaBEN nothing has been said about this, that I've seen... however the ps5 has more than enough power to be able to play the whole game in VR, which is what I'm counting on. the psvr time trials you can do in GTsport are absolutely amazing and l really am hoping for full online racing in VR this time...

@LiamCroft l agree, however l wish l did know more about the console that I've already paid in full for! 🤔 ....but that's just impatient excitement! 😆 l think it's because I'm used to the big e3 console reveal which we haven't got this year, instead it's been small slices of info given with huge gaps in between... not enough to satisfy my curiosity! 😬

we will just have to wait and see what happens... of course they'll all get added to gamepass at no extra cost, but what's the point in not releasing on ps5? considering it'll be £60-£70 a game anywhere else 🤔
when Microsoft were trying to say that gaming is a universal thing and we're all one big community no matter where you play, it'll be funny if they start making divisions themselves! 😂 also, they've openly said that they don't consider playstation a competitor anymore as they are competing with stadia, geforce now and l guess luna (is it?) so again, why wouldn't you earn extra money for your games?
either way, l don't care! I've always had both consoles anyway... its just Microsoft are giving me a good reason to play xbox next gen with gamepass. reasons for playing playstation, for me, is psvr and ps exclusives, and that will never change! 😉

@GREGORIAN l do have a habit of being waaay too optimistic about stuff 😁 but, it could be possible for MS to achieve this. as gamepass is available, and also very attractive to PC gamers, it's conceivable that they could reach those sub numbers. also technically you don't even need a console, people could sub to gamepass with nothing but a controller and a tablet/smartphone! I've sampled game streaming on the nvidia shield TV console when it first released, its OK, not great but it works! and the tech is getting better.... and seriously it wouldn't surprise me if we see some kind of MS gamepass for ps5!! lmao! because all they are interested in is getting those sub numbers doesn't matter where they come from... it would probably just cost a little more on ps5 😉 not that playstation would ever entertain the thought!
basically MS have left it wide open for anyone to join, and they will because right now it's very attractive! it'll be down to MS to make it a success in the long run, if they can keep releasing 'high quality' games for single players and online multiplayers then it will be a success... if it ends up being a choice between ps5 with expensive very high quality games or xbox with great value but very low quality games l will be completely with sony, again! only time will tell, l don't think MS has finished buying yet though....
l feel a little bad for sony, they just can't compete with MS spending power and if MS suddenly decide to do a VR headset that's better than psvr2 they could be fighting an uphill battle

@Waffles12415 well, if gamepass takes off and becomes really popular 50mil subs would equate to half a billion a month! but l think Microsoft are aiming even higher than that! it'll be interesting to see what kind of quality the games have 2 or 3 years down the line🤔 and what the price of gamepass will be then too

@GREGORIAN you talk a lot of sense my friend, and its something that does concern me too for the future of games and gaming. trouble is there's not much we can do about it but sit back and see how it actually unfolds....
l do also believe devs have earned the price rise, as painful as it is for us, the price for creating them is astronomical! l shall still pay full price for my ps5 games though
on a more positive thought (for MS) you can imagine that they are aiming sky high for their gamepass, of course they are! 😁 BUT, say they get to 100000000 subs? yes, that's optimistic but that would be pulling in just over a billion every month. surely that would be enough to keep all their first party devs making quality games including a proper fallout5? (yes l love fallout!) of course MS could just pocket that cash and still make crappy online, loot box filled games anyway! lol ...but if they fill the financial hole just until they have enough subs to pay for it all, it could just work!
your not a dying breed, my middle son is 16 and he hates digital, he likes a big collection you can display physically 😉 I'm 43, I've been gaming since l was 8 or so lol l like the convenience of digital, but normally l don't like the prices of them! one things for sure, this is going to be a very interesting generation. l count myself lucky I'm going to be able sample both consoles from the start (even if its the underpowered xbox)

@GREGORIAN good point and l do agree, but from my personal situation right now it makes sense. the quality of games isn't going to go downhill immediately and if l only play 1 game a month on gamepass it'll only cost me £10.99 as opposed to £60-70 a game, as a consumer that is value for money regardless what happens to the industry! l shall use my ps5 for VR games and playstation exclusives and the xbox for everything else!

Microsoft have done things perfectly, rewriting all the wrongs from this gen. I've always had both consoles but this gen has been all playstation and psvr for me, this gen I'm not so sure 🤔
I've already pre ordered ps5 but because of the xbox all access deal I've ordered an xbox series s too... l would have gone for the x but its rightly completely sold out. but this is the thing, if you're a mad gamer like me and have already secured a ps5, why not pick up the cheaper xbox for £20.99 a month for 2 years with gamepass included? (the deal is £10 CHEAPER than paying for console in full and subbing to gamepass for 2 years too!)
when you speak of value for money xbox and gamepass is second to NONE! its actually quite astonishing 😲

well it was never really going to happen was it? l wanted it to, l hoped it would... but l knew the answer, l just didn't want to believe it! 😁 BUT personally l believe sony should combine ps now with ps plus... people regularly complain ps+ games are already available on ps now and to try and combat the xbox gamepass (which tbh is sounding really good!) l think this should be an obvious move... will it happen though? probably not! lol either way sony will have my money, for anyone in the UK looking for a ps5 pre order argos are opening theirs at midnight tonight, in about 22 mins, good luck and I'll see you in the trenches 😆😁

psvr is awesome, I've spent well over 1500 hours playing on it, the reduced resolution doesn't outweigh the immersion for me. the jump in graphics between psvr and psvr2 will probably be like from ps1 - ps2 so will be more obvious than what we're used to in modern console generations 😌 I'd like to see a few titles appear, fallout4 has a VR edition that ps4/psvr couldn't handle but with the extra power of ps5 should be possible now. also games like project cars, assetto corsa have pc VR already too and surely could be patched for ps5/psvr. gtsport has VR time trials (which are utterly amazing) but hasn't been able to do full online races in VR, with ps5 this would be possible. l doubt gt7 will be a launch title, so this would serve as a great void filler until its ready 😉 and I'd like to see new massive rpg games like skyrim VR, something you can sink 300+ hours into

@BowTiesAreCool the aim controller has 2 sticks on it for normal movement, its totally awesome! however l had issues with tracking, which kinda ruined the experience of farpoint, Arizona sun and bravo team. once the tracking is better it'll be the greatest peripheral of all time, maybe the new ps5 camera might sort it? 🤔
