Re: Sony Acquires Haven Studios, the New Developer Led By Jade Raymond

banacheck

To me it's an unproven studio so there is very high risk here, the individual devs have worked on games like the Sims, Assassin's creed, Star Wars Battlefront, Tomb raider etc. Live service games as well, £70 game's only to be sold in game crap. Bungie excellent example of that selling you weapons (gameplay) & taking away paid for content, so I don't blame people seeing live service games as cancer.

Re: PS5 Owners Ponder What Sony Is Playing At with VRR

banacheck

I am a stock holder in these gaming companies and didn't even realize it.

But really. The PS5 in all likelihood will have a prolonged gen because of COVID & the fact the vast majority cannot even buy these consoles freely. The vast majority of games out are cross gen, so VRR is really just a talking point for fanboys. As most people's 4K TV will not even probably support VRR. The thing what I find funny about this is that it puts extra cost on customers who shouldn't have to buy TVs that support VRR, because developers put out unstable buggy products.

Re: GRID Legends' Hop-In Multiplayer Gets You to the Race Quicker

"But they really are the minority: most titles will force you through endless error messages, loading screens, and lobbies, sapping your enthusiasm before you even get to play."

That's not an intended design feature. The only difference here is they are just hiding the multiplayer lobby, much like they try & hide loading screens especially on last generation hardware. There is also a reason for going cross-play a bigger player base, otherwise the illusion all comes crashing down with a low player base. Instead of being in a lobby your are in a virtual lobby where you can walk around with other players waiting for the game to begin.

Re: Nintendo Switch Has Now Outsold PS1, Targeting PS4 Next

banacheck

@WallyWest

It's handheld not a home console, hence you cannot play it through a home TV unlike the original switch ability to be played on a home TV. The original Switch is definitely a hybrid being more of a handheld, but thank god you can use the Pro Controller over the Joy-Cons. I always use mine on the TV obviously using the Pro Controller. Amazing numbers but I don't class the lite as a hybrid console unlike the original. I do ike the white dock I might get one, to use as a spare.

Re: Hands On: They Made Destruction AllStars on PS5 Good

banacheck

They made some really good improvements. Being on foot you can knock people off their feet like before or OK them for a few points or gears, but in a game mode like carnado being on foot is a strategy. How to hijack people has changed so has how you get the hijacker off you're car. You can win carnado just by hijacking other people's cars for their gears, it's how I've been winning carnado. Being on foot isn't about combat, only boost when you know you'll hit someone. It makes more of a skilled game over just mindlessly boosting around the map hoping you'll damage someone. I not saying you cannot mindlessly boost about you can, but other players will take advantage & punish you for
that.I really like the changes, there is a lot more people playing it now which is really good.

Re: Crysis 4 Confirmed a Decade After Crysis 3

banacheck

Crysis was alright but Crysis 2 & 3 where far better. Crysis was made for PC it was never designed around a controller & it shows. Crysis 2 movement os so much more fluid. I've been playing well finished Crysis & started Crysis 2 on GamePass Ultimate, a shame I cannot find a public match online. But the nostalgia trip from a MP map (forget it's name), it was the Crysis2 multiplayer Beta. Green house's on a skyscraper, a good map how it was laided out. I hope Crysis 4 has Multiplayer like Crysis 2/3.

Re: Xbox Boss Expresses Desire to 'Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation' After Activision Buyout Is Complete

banacheck

I honestly don't see COD going exclusive especially seeing all these games will be going on GamePass. At the moment Xbox first party games is helping funding 3rd party games deals to put them on GamePass. Highly likely why you are seeing game's like Halo infinite multiplayer go free 2 play, but cost the same for just the campaign. The most important part isn't buying studios etc, it's the up keep & management of these studios. AAA game development isn't cheap, this is the real test for Microsoft which they have history with.

Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4

banacheck

"and while the economics and end goal of that particular service still remain head-scratching,"

It's pretty clear the end goal of GamePass. A service where you cannot out right buy the games just rent them (future goal). it'll have single player campaigns but it's multiplayer will be a f2p mobile model game much like Halo infinite. Also expect Microsoft to embrace NFTs at some point. Xbox first party games don't make a profit on GamePass because of the 3rd party games, hence the Free 2 Play root. Also Halo 5 was a proof of concept for Microsoft with its microtransactions doing very well, I full expect to see Gears Of War multiplayer to go F2P also.

Re: Poll: How Long Should Games Be?

banacheck

7-10 hours with no replay value so you don't miss any of our releases at £70 a pop, Lol. Obviously this comes from a place of entitlement as there are thousands of games on the market all ranging from different times it to complete. The idea games have to have a certain time frame to suit you ridiculous, just don't buy it & buy a game with X amount of hours. If the next Spiderman is over 45 mins long, well it's just not respecting MY time.

Re: Sony's Backwards PS4 to PS5 Upgrade System Is Still Causing Headaches

banacheck

I agree it's confusing for customers. I think it's down too Final Fantasy VII Remake being it's own version for PlayStation Plus Upgrades. So if you are looking to upgrade you're PlayStation Plus version of Final Fantasy VII Remake, go into the PlayStation Store & search "Final Fantasy VII Remake Upgrade for PS4 version owners" this is the version you are downloading not the rental digital version.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 407

banacheck

On Crash Bandicoot 3 before playing Crash Bandicoot 4 for the PS5, & then platinum it at a later date on the PS4 too. Halo infinite & Gear's 5 multiplayer & horde, I brought Battlefield 4 for £4.99 last night to not only play but get the achievements too, platinumed on the PS4. Battlefield Bad Company 2 multiplayer was why I picked up Battlefield 4, the older Battlefield game's are so good. If I do get the new Battlefield it'll be on sale & for the Portal mode, why they are changing the core of the game I don't know. From team focused classes too specialists, and there is so much missing from the game.

Re: Rockstar Apologises for the State of GTA Trilogy on PS5, PS4

banacheck

Hopefully Rockstar themselves will be fixing the game's, this is the problem with using thrid party companies if they mess up even though you have nothing to do with the remasters it's you're reputation on the line. The originals are a lot more worth playing on PC because of mods, on console it's a total different story.

Re: Battlefield 2042 (PS5) - Maybe One for the Future

banacheck

@nomither6

That's the problem all the original devs that made great games no longer work at the studio, Bioware, infinite ward, DICE etc. Bad Company you could destroy houses with players in them, that's what Battlefield was well known for. Also team work seems to be a thing they are trying to get rid of, hence the new COD specialists.

Re: Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition (PS5) - A Stain on Rockstar's Record

banacheck

The problem with people's criticisms of the "remasters" not remakes like Mafia, is they have obviously not played the originals in the modern age 2021. Some people just wouldn't play them, being super blurry Vice City is some how more blurry the GTA3, frame rate issues especially while driving around, especially in Vice City, rendering issues cars & NPC's are basically blocks until they render in properly, because of the draw distance you'll see cars & NPCs render in right in front of you while driving. So in you're review where you say "GTA 5, and while gunplay still feels ancient," the gunplay in the remasters are a 1000% better than the originals. You lot are comparing modern day game's 2021 to modern remasters of game's from 2001, sure the remaster could be better less bugs etc but the based games are still ancient hence why the "improved" gunplay still feels old to you. Rockstar said they fix the problems with the remasters.

Re: Battlefield 2042 (PS5) - Maybe One for the Future

banacheck

It doesn't surprise me it's released with technical problems like bugs, missing features etc, the beta was the same. I have no doubt within the next few months they'll have it in a much better state, so I will probably pick it up in the first half of 2022.
