2021 will mark the 35th anniversary of Dragon Quest, and it sounds like Square Enix is keen on celebrating. Speaking during the recent Dragon Quest X Fall Festival 2020 — as translated by Gematsu — series creator Yuji Horii teased "all sorts of announcements" for next year.
The big one could obviously be Dragon Quest XII, which was confirmed to be in pre-production in 2019. While it seems doubtful that Dragon Quest XII will actually release in 2021 — Horii previously said that it's still a while off — we wouldn't rule out an official reveal.
On top of that, we know that there are a bunch of smaller Dragon Quest projects currently in the works, including the clunky looking (and clunkily named) Infinity Strash - Dragon Quest: The Adventures of Dai. That one's pencilled in for a 2021 launch in Japan.

Absolutely loved all two dozen endings to DQXI
Sad that the version I played was before the mod for orchestral musics was released though, so hopefully they don't do that with the next entry
Another Theatrhythm Dragon Quest could be cool, or at least a Western release of the first one. I reckon they’d be likely to do another Warriors game or Builders though, they’re pretty fun spin offs. Maybe a collection of older games on PS4 and Switch? As long as it isn’t limited time. I’d love to see IX get ported as it’s my personal favourite.

When I read the headline to this, It sounded to me like we were getting a dragon quest creator game! Where we get to create our own DQ game, Sadly not the case though...

@HotGoomba___Rebrand this has happened a couple times with FFXIV and DQ. It's surface level but hey.
DQXII will probably be announced, presumably for Switch and PS5, but one big hope I have is that they remaster the DS ports of the Zenithian Trilogy (IV-VI) on Switch as they did with the Erdrick Trilogy.

I wasn't aware until about two years ago that Dragon Warrior and Dragon Quest were the same thing. DW was my first RPG, which I got only shortly after getting my NES in 1988. I also played DW2, but then didn't think much of it until I played DQ XI.
So I suppose that I've been a fan for the whole time, but took about a 27 year break in the middle, lol.
I would love a port of DQ8. Symphonic OST included or don't bother.
DQ Heroes 3 also. 💚
