really stupid story but when they added the expansion, they had a bundle for Shadow Tactics with a PS4/PS5 tag so I'm like oh the game got an upgrade. Turns out the PS5 part was the artbook, the game was still native PS4 so I had to refund. Now this. Bah.
the problem I have with Silksong right now is what I call the rake problem (from Sideshow Bob episode) where you want to like the game but every now and then something hits you across the face. Whether it's double damage all over the place, bad benches (and hidden ones! which cost lots of money!) wonky hitboxes, flying enemies that input read, horrible runbacks, it's just...a bit much.
I love people dumping on this. From the goodwill generated by the Hitman games to the fact that their SoP trailer is #1 in views on the Playstation channel from that whole stream, not to mention the brand recognition, anyone going "why do this?" is not thinking 4 dimensionally.
it'd be nice if more games were "finished" day one but it's funny Red Dead 2, both God of War games and even Elden Ring got day one patches but we all kind of let it slide but this game gets one and everyone's like "uh oh, broken game incoming!"
This is something where Game Pass maybe has its place. I know we shouldn't value a game's merits based on its price but a 70$ game that's 5 hours long with little to no replay value? Yeah I'll wait.
I dont get how some games get a pass for basically being like other things but then others it's like "this game doesn't do anything new". I mean if I can be honest, neither did Lies of P. Some people really are looking for another-one-of-those.
at some point when you look at Sarah Bond, Aaron Greenberg, Matt Booty and big daddy Phil and we've had yet another round of layoffs, you have to wonder why heads are not rolling and people getting fired or resigning.
It's one of the few games that people try to convince you that your opinion is wrong.
Didn't like Red Dead 2 or Persona 5? Well you know, different strokes, not every game appeals to everybody etc Didn't like Last of Us 2? You're wrong and let me tell you all the ways why this game is a masterpiece and you just don't get it, brah.
It's like we get it, you like this game but this evangelizing of that entire franchise is tiresome.
SoP was better but SGF ran into 2 problems: leakers talking about games or potential announcements that are no-shows (because they're at Xbox) or they're not showing up at all so people's expectations are through the roof.
2nd thing is that while ppl love buying and playing their indies, people want the heavy hitters with these showcases: your RE9's, your Bloodborne remake (also stop asking for this, holy crap), your Half Life 3 (lulz!) your Silksongs. It's like going to a musical band concert and only wanting to hear the hits but then complain they don't play b-sides anymore. Dumb analogy I know.
I like the game for the most part, I just don't like the attitude people have to stuff like Summer Games Fest, VGA's or State of Plays. You can have amazing stuff announced but "yeah but no Bloodborne, therefore 4/10 show".
I don't blame Sony for this entirely. They can't keep making these massive AAA blockbuster epics that take 5-6 years to make and cost crazy amounts of money and hope they get some of that back.
"why play Marvel Rivals when Overwatch 2 exists?" well clearly everyone didn't get the memo cause MR is dominating over OW2 and Sony is trying to get in on that. It's just not working as well as they would like.
@PapaGlitch you know slot machines where you pull the lever and you have to get 7 bars or cherries to get prizes? it's like that but with video game stuff so costumes, characters, items etc
on one hand, sure it'd be nice if Sony communicated more, like with the PS stars no more money redeeming or whatever but then you look at Microsoft who puts their foot in their mouth so much, you wonder how they even talk and it's like maybe it's good Sony shuts up a bit.
using HDR on graphics mode and I was like "guhdamn, now I want that ps5 pro". It looks fine? on resolution mode but this is a super pretty game but it does look choppy.
if only it was 35$. in Canada it's 45 which I know people hate this kind of thing but that's a bit steep for a beat em up when some games are like 20 bucks
the thing for me with Concord is that, at its core, it's a fun game to play so they have a foundation to work off of. Whether people would care if they went F2P, idk.
Like playing the characters and the looting/build options but my survivability has tanked once I hit hard mode and the RNG loot drops which require RNG loot drops which are done through RNG missions, it's just a bit much...
If it's a very in-depth RPG, then I didn't see it. I saw a generic hack and slash where he fired one ability and first impressions matter and saying "oh the press saw the REAL game and it's an actual RPG with skill trees".
I think it's the camel breaking straw. It's like when League of Legends was the rage and everyone was trying to make their own. Announce a new moba and people are like "oh lord another one". Concord isn't doing anything egregious on a gameplay level; it's just throwing their hat into a hole that's already chockful of hats.
promising Dynasty Warriors return after the lackluster 9 the charming AF Nikki game Alien in VR which is what many wanted since Isolation Ballad and Winds Meet, great looking action games Astro Bot, star of the show and the soon to be 10 million seller MH Wilds
"yeah but it didn't have Bloodborne remaster so 2/10"
I'm not saying it was a blockbuster showing but is it bad because of what was there or because what you wanted but wasn't there?
if we're talking most impressive then clearly Astro Bot and Wilds. But as far as surprising and "hey I want that" then it's Infinity Nikki by a mile followed by Ballad

another one down. Harvestella next, please.

I unironically would like to play this.

Re: EDENS ZERO (PS5) - Breezy Anime Adaptation Is a Fun, Forgettable Action RPG
nobody thought Edens Zero was the next big thing since ppl outright disliked Fairy Tail. EZ is way better than FT but "next big thing?" please.

SoP was better but SGF ran into 2 problems: leakers talking about games or potential announcements that are no-shows (because they're at Xbox) or they're not showing up at all so people's expectations are through the roof.

Re: Rumour: Greek God of War Game Is a 2.5D Metroidvania
Sigh, I hate influencers/leakers.
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for May 2025 Announced
fair warning to those looking at Ark, last time I played it was about 150 gigs so be prepared to clean out some space
Re: Oblivion Remastered Out Now on PS5, Price and Download Size Revealed
price I have no problem with but 120 gigs? woof.
Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on Bloodborne, 10 Years Later?

Re: Ubisoft Will Reportedly Fight for Assassin's Creed Shadows, Anti-Harassment Plan in Place
grifters complaining about now getting to target devs for this reminds me of that Patrice O Neal line "why can't I harass you?"
Re: These 9+ New PS5, PS4 Games Are Coming Out Next Week (17th-23rd March)
I really hope AC Shadows sells through the roof to shut up all those anti-woke "non-buy-nary" grifters you see.

"Ignore the annoying name:"
at least somebody else but me said this. Such an awful name.
Re: 'Expect the Unexpected' in Anticipated PS5 Exclusive Death Stranding 2
I know it's totally dumb but I always hated that phrase. The unexpected would stop being unexpected if you were expecting it.
Re: Poll: What Were Your Favourite PS5 Games from State of Play?
Tides of Annihilation (hate the name though, sounds like a generic WoW patch)
Lost Soul Aside
Lies of P dlc
Re: Reaction: Sony's Live Service Push Has Been a Disaster of Utterly Insane Proportions

Re: 34 Under the Radar PS5 Games to Watch Out for in 2025
You forgot one which I'm going to add:
if anyone liked Ender Lilies, the metroidvania with the young girl, the sequel, Ender Magnolia, comes out in a couple of weeks.
Re: Tekken 8 Season 2 Confirmed, Final Season 1 DLC to Be Announced at The Game Awards
chances are it'll be Tifa, you don't skip the tournament just to announce Josie or something
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for November 2024?
always wanted to check out Dying Light 2 but getting kind of tired of this adding and re-adding GTA5.

Re: Sony's Japan Studio 'Forgot What It Feels Like to Have a Hit'
There's a meme of fans of Japan Studio in a big crowd but people that buy their games and it's a desert. Money where your mouth is and all that.
Re: Opinion: The Price of Playing PS5 Games Day One Is Getting Higher and Higher
in Canada:
Black Myth Wukong: 79.99
Dragon Age Veilguard: 89.99
Silent Hill 2/Metaphor: 93.49
Monster Hunter Wilds: 96.99
Dead Island 2: 98.00 (?!)
I know Sony doesnt set the prices but make it make sense.
Re: Co-Op Action FPS Warhammer 40k: Darktide Should Finally Be Announced for PS5 Soon

Re: Talking Point: Can PS5, PC Shooter Concord Be Saved?
the thing for me with Concord is that, at its core, it's a fun game to play so they have a foundation to work off of. Whether people would care if they went F2P, idk.
Re: Concord (PS5) - Live Service Debut Beats the Hate with Stellar Presentation and Good Gameplay
It's amazing some people legitimately cant fathom some people actually like this game.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give The First Descendant?
One of the most addicting 6/10 games in awhile.
Like playing the characters and the looting/build options but my survivability has tanked once I hit hard mode and the RNG loot drops which require RNG loot drops which are done through RNG missions, it's just a bit much...
Re: Talking Point: What's Your Most Anticipated PS5 Game for the Second Half of 2024?
Metaphor - Black Myth Wukong - Infinity Nikki - AC Shadow and technically it's Zelda Echoes of Wisdom but I picked Zenless
Re: Fairy Tail 2 Brings the Anime Franchise Back as an Action RPG on PS5, PS4 This Year
Fairy Tail is getting the 100 Year Quest adaptation so I can imagine they're trying to capitalize on that early
Re: Poll: So, What Are Your Thoughts on Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
Promising game; bad demo.
If it's a very in-depth RPG, then I didn't see it. I saw a generic hack and slash where he fired one ability and first impressions matter and saying "oh the press saw the REAL game and it's an actual RPG with skill trees".
Well would've been nice if I saw it.
Re: Reaction: Summer Game Fest 2024 Showcases AAA's Endless Winter
"Heck, they want to see Keighley staring lustfully at Hideo Kojima"
not me, that stuff's starting to get seriously embarrassing.
Re: Video: Is Concord Destined to Fail?
I think it's the camel breaking straw. It's like when League of Legends was the rage and everyone was trying to make their own. Announce a new moba and people are like "oh lord another one". Concord isn't doing anything egregious on a gameplay level; it's just throwing their hat into a hole that's already chockful of hats.

Alien in VR which is what many wanted since Isolation
Ballad and Winds Meet, great looking action games
Astro Bot, star of the show
and the soon to be 10 million seller MH Wilds

I'm not saying it was a blockbuster showing but is it bad because of what was there or because what you wanted but wasn't there?
