Re: 'Told You So': Ex-FTC Chair Lina Khan Is Having the Last Laugh Over Xbox's Activision Acquisition

T-Bone09

@awp69 Not exactly. And here is why I say that. Microsoft said they weren’t going to layoff people because of the buyout. It wasn’t just 200 or 500.. it was 2550. And I don’t know the number after the last one they had months ago with all the closures..
But yes Sony has laid off devs but they have tried to maintain as much as possible. I’m not trying to put Sony in a good light but their layoffs weren’t due to major buyouts that they couldn't maintain. When they bought Bungie they had an extra billion to help sustain their devs. And yes they eventually laid off and they closed firewalk studios. So yes, there are woes on throughout the game industry but not the level that Microsoft has caused.

The person was making a comment about what was said and what was done.

Re: 'Told You So': Ex-FTC Chair Lina Khan Is Having the Last Laugh Over Xbox's Activision Acquisition

T-Bone09

I mean Stevie Wonder seen this coming.. who didn’t? I was against it from the get go. Microsoft knows how to hire good lawyers and act innocent in front of a court room. But their track record is horrible. It’s a dumpster fire. They have 0 innovation but buy companies that already become established just to close them later.

Microsoft has not really done anything for gaming other than try to make a massive profit off GamePass and they are failing.
The last time Microsoft was actually pro consumer was during the OG XBox and 360. Even with the huge RROD scandal. They use to be competition for Sony, and I could honestly say if it wasn’t for Xbox Live, PSN wouldn’t be what it is today.
But closing in on 20 years since the 360 launch look at where we are. Microsoft just bought the majority market of publishers to “Spend Sony out of business” but only have caused a huge increase of massive layoffs and really hasn’t made nothing to show for it.

But with all the negative stuff, there is a silver lining. Microsoft is needing to be multi platform to be able to make profit. And it’s been great for themselves with releasing their games on PlayStation and eventually more for Nintendo.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Getting Sick of Sony's Supposedly 'Samey' Approach to Story Telling?

T-Bone09

Do I wish there were more variety of games? Absolutely.
But do I think that Sony just wants to push the same old storyline? No
AstroBot?
Horizon is not a revengeful game.
Sony recently said they are wanting to make or buy newer IP’s.
They understand the need for variety.
I do wish they would bring back older titles and they’ve mentioned that too.
Motorstorm would be a title I would like to see remade.
Warhawk.. Don’t get me started ..
Socom needed to be remade 5 years ago.
The problem we face now is that game development takes so long nowadays. It’s quite annoying, and only having 1-2 major titles a year.
I remember playing the PS3 era and games were being made 1-2, Naughty Dog released Uncharted 2 within 2 years from the first. Now games are releasing 5 years between each other. In example Ghost of Tsushima - Ghost of Yotei. That’s not saying anything bad about the developers because they did a phenomenal job.
I think it was like they employ a 100 person dev team and dev cost was similar to Ghost of Tsushima. Which was a whole lot less than Horizon Forbidden West and Spiderman 2

Re: Ghost of Yotei (PS5) - The Greatest Sucker Punch Game Ever

T-Bone09

I’m surprised so many have a negative reaction to Ghost of Tsushima.. that was by far one of the best games in the last 10 years or more.
To some say it’s a copy of Assassins Creed didn’t really play the game.
It was a beautiful game and the Duels were epic.

Can’t wait to get my copy of Ghost of Yotei from PlayStation Direct, may get it earlier than release date they say 🤷🏼‍♂️ .

About the visuals, the same issue that was mentioned was in the first game. The faces get sometimes low detailed as in GoT, but the majority of the game was very very beautiful and well put together.
Death Stranding 2 is the only newer game that looks better fidelity wise at the moment. Gotta love the Decima Engine, I wish other first party devs were able to use it. Especially looking at Wolverine, as much as I love Insomniac their games don’t look as realistic as the above mentioned.
But Sucker Punch like other developers have their own engines and I like what they’ve done with it. It’s a gorgeous and fluid game.

Re: First Wolverine PS5 Gameplay Is Incredibly Gory, Set for Fall 2026

T-Bone09

This game looks good and Insomniac will always create a good story. I have no doubt this game will be great.
However, I do wish more games used the Decima Engine. The way Kojima used it in Death Stranding 2 it looked very realistic. Maybe it’s just me, I just liked a more realistic look. I think it will be great nonetheless.

Re: Innocuous Days Gone Tweet Attracts Xbox Fans Like Flies to Slaughtered Freakers

T-Bone09

Here we go again with this. You know what they use to say during the PS3 and 350 days? Buy the console to play the games. That generation was the height of the “console war”. I know times have change now seeing Microsoft putting all their games now on PlayStation was quite the surprise.
But what does Sony have to gain by this? How many gamers have just an Xbox? No PC, no PS5? I understand the times we live in and how expensive it is being a single dad. But the ratio from PS5 to Xbox Series X/S is so one sided that it wouldn’t really make a big difference for them to port their single player games over to Xbox.
Just because Microsoft did because Xbox has been on life support for so many years doesn’t mean Sony has to follow suit. Sony releasing games for PC was to extend their reach to other markets. I don’t see the need for them to release their single player portfolio on Xbox.

Re: PS5 Fans Getting 'Really Carried Away' with Job Listing Which Implied More Exclusives Could Be Ported to Xbox, Switch

T-Bone09

@Godot25

Again you read way too much in this. They’re not at the beginning stage of becoming multiplatform.
You using MLB as a sign isn’t working.
Sony mentioned this a year or so ago, and said that exploring the PC market does not compete with their own market. Releasing games 2 years after they’ve been on PS5. According to Sony that’s their words.

And Sony paid money to keep games off Xbox?.. give me a break. It was called timed exclusivity. Something Xbox use to do this all time and just about everyone has done this to promote the brand. Sony actually assisted and helped pay for the development for Final Fantasy games on PS5 not just write a check to keep it off Xbox. Final Fantasy and PlayStation have long been established.
I used the sales data of FF16 to show they didn’t sale much on Xbox. It made a minimal dent in sales.
It’s laughable you put in quotation “nobody buys games on Xbox”
They wouldn’t be taking physical games of Xbox out of stores if people were even buying a portion of physical copies. You can argue about digital sales and I agree that it’s 50-50, 60-40 for PlayStation but you don’t see them taking PS5 games out of stores.
Because PlayStation owners typically buy their games and a big portion of Xbox owners use it for GamePass. That’s not just an opinion but it shows. Devs know this.
I’m not saying large scale games are going to skip Xbox. I just said some devs were skipping Xbox for market reasons. The latest one was from the Ori dev.

Helldivers 2 is a live service game. Having it available to more people is good. Sony took down the PSN login requirement to help have the game reach a further audience. And I’m actually glad the Xbox gamers to get to play.

But to say that this is a trend for Sony to be multiplatform only is very misleading.

Re: PS5 Fans Getting 'Really Carried Away' with Job Listing Which Implied More Exclusives Could Be Ported to Xbox, Switch

T-Bone09

@Godot25

MLB The Show was put on other consoles was mostly to keep the license.
Sony doesn’t own the DeathStrand IP anymore. Kojima does now.

Have you seen God Of War come to Xbox? Spider-Man?
For one it’s not going to be a huge increase in sales for Sony as you’re trying to make for them to release these games for Xbox.
You have more devs not prioritizing an Xbox launch because of the fact that a big chunk of them don’t buy games, they use it for Gamepass. Some devs are skipping Xbox for launch because PlayStation owners actually buy games.
It doesn’t make a lot of sense for them to go through all the trouble.

From your perspective Nintendo is multiplatform for having Pokémon Go on mobile.
Your acting if their whole catalog is coming to Xbox because Phil said “only 4 games” So that must mean Sony is going to release their whole arsenal because they releasing HellDivers2 coming to Xbox.
I’m just trying to say that’s not what this article is saying. And people are reading way too much into this.

Re: Sony Sues Tencent Over 'Shameless' Horizon Copycat Coming to PS5

T-Bone09

@Wilforce what’s your prescription on those glasses? They ain’t working. Just playing.

It looks very close alike. And you can see the intent since they were denied.
It’s not Tencent’s first copy and paste. They’ve done it before.

League of Kings, ripoff from their own subsidiary, League of Legends by Riot Games
Tarisland.. a WoW ripoff..
This game.. you see the trend?

Re: PS5 Fans Getting 'Really Carried Away' with Job Listing Which Implied More Exclusives Could Be Ported to Xbox, Switch

T-Bone09

@TrollOfWar

They released a Lego game that was a Horizon game for Nintendo.

They release a baseball game every year to multiple consoles.

What other games do they release that is multiplatform?
Bungie games were always going to be multiplatform.
Helldivers 2 is a live service game and it was a PS5/ PC game from the beginning.
It’s a bit reaching to say they are slowly releasing their games to become multiplatform just because a few have.

And I’m not saying PC is not competing with PlayStation, Sony is.
Microsoft put themselves in a position where they are releasinging day and date games.
I don’t see Sony releasing their “flagpole” games on Xbox.
I guess we are seeing what we really intend to only see.

Re: PS5 Fans Getting 'Really Carried Away' with Job Listing Which Implied More Exclusives Could Be Ported to Xbox, Switch

T-Bone09

@TrollOfWar

Don’t know where you got your sales data from for the Xbox. I can’t seem to find a mention of their sales. But I just know the game overall sold 19 million copies. Which is an incredible feat. Sony sold the IP back to Kojima and it’s a multiplatform game with exclusivity timed on PlayStation. And how long has it been since its initial release? Around 2019?

Square Enix always have high standards for their games for sales success. And FF16 may not have appealed to some fans of the series but it was still a good game. I was just using it as a reference.

Look I’m not against Xbox having HellDivers2 or others because it does give more people to play the game with..
I’m just trying to relay that I doubt Sony will be releasing their first party single player titles that on an Xbox platform like how Xbox is releasing theirs.. I just don’t see it really happening. I can be wrong and I’ll be the fist to admit it when I am. But PC market doesn’t interfere you console market according to Sony, so they can make that decision for games to come to PC as they have been doing.
Nintendo, I don’t see them as a direct competitor to Sony and again their fan base is little more younger than Sony’s and it can actually make sense to see some Sony games go to Nintendo.

But for Sony to go multiplatform, I don’t see that anytime in the next 10 years.

Re: Sony Job Listing Implies More PS5 Exclusives Will Be Ported to Xbox, Switch

T-Bone09

@TrollOfWar
HellDivers2 is a live service game and Mike other live service games they are multiplatform. It makes sense. Fortnite, Warzone, etc..
But to say that they are more concerned about money and shareholders and port their games on Xbox is not as likely. Sony made more money on the PS5 than all their other consoles combined or if not close. That’s with their first party games being released sporadically. They won’t disenfranchise theirselves for Xbox. How many FF16 copies were sold on Xbox after it was finally released? Barely made a dent in sales.. even though FinalFantasy will most likely not be exclusive anymore, only times if so.

Bungie is still going to make multiplatform games and some others.. but not to the scale that Xbox is currently doing to make everything an Xbox.

Re: Sony Job Listing Implies More PS5 Exclusives Will Be Ported to Xbox, Switch

T-Bone09

When Xbox released all their exclusives to PS5 they did it for the reason that PlayStation gamer based was substantially bigger than their own. And obviously the money is there.
Sony releasing Helldivers 2 on Xbox is not the same. A game that’s developed by a studio that is not owned by Sony just have publishing rights to the series is way different than what Xbox has done.
Sony doesn’t need Xbox like how Microsoft needs PlayStation now that it bought a huge portion of the market.
Nintendo is in its own territory. Even if Sony released let’s say Ratchet and Clank or other similar titles to the Switch 2 it still wouldn’t take away from the PlayStation. How many gamers buy the Switch for games other than Nintendo titles? Other than some exclusive titles coming out. Their market reaches different than PS5. They don’t typically compete head to head as Xbox and PlayStation do.

Re: Helldivers 2 Xbox Announcement Prompts Avalanche of Spider-Man Port Begging

T-Bone09

I don’t think Sony would..
Helldivers 2 is a multiplayer game that was not developed by Sony, only published.. yes they have the publishing rights but it’s not a first party game. I know PC gets first party games usually a year and half later or two. But HellDivers 2 was on PC and PS5 since launch and basically was a multiplat game. It broadening their reach doesn’t interfere with Sony selling consoles at all.

Re: PlayStation Employs Bulletstorm Dev to Make New PS5 Game Based on Sony IP

T-Bone09

Games that need to comeback.

1. Socom
2. Warhawk
3. Resistance.

Helldivers 2 has filled a spot that Sony has been lacking for so so long. But they need more games that will help fill that gap.
Warhawk to me would be the perfect fit for that. Arcade shooter with intense dog fights and ground to air combat.
Resistance Fall of Man was one of the best multiplayer experiences for the first 3 years of the PS3 and very enjoyable.

Socom would be a great addition since there is only Call of Duty and Battlefield now. I know people complain about Extraction shooters but if they can make a mode where you have missions to complete or even like DMZ where you have personal mission to unlock certain features or guns.
Just imagine entering a match on a soc-r boat and completing a mission and having to call in an exfil. I would enjoy those three games.. I wouldn’t ask Sony for anything more this whole remaining gen.

Re: Xbox Wants Its Games to 'Reach the Broadest Audience Possible' as It Plots More Long-Standing, Flagship Franchises for PS5

T-Bone09

They make it sound so revolutionary… it’s like they can spin any bad thing and say it’s ground breaking. I mean I’m not complaining about the games being available but let’s not pretend that it’s because they want there games on PS5 they just won’t be able to survive without doing so.

Their Gamepass subscriptions haven’t took off like they needed it to be.. and now anything can be an Xbox is just another way of saying we are making having an Xbox useless.

Buying up publishers and not being innovative but just rinse cycle repeat. Bobby Kotick even said they shouldn’t be in the video game business because of the obvious reasons that had plagued them was they don’t really know to innovate or be different..

Re: Rumour: New Bungie Game Targets State of Play Reveal, Out on PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch

T-Bone09

@LogicStrikesAgain

I’m like you.. it’s a cool bond when you can play together with your kids.. Sackboy was quite fun too. To me it makes games more enjoyable when you can play with them..
I grew up playing couch co-op with my friends.. there isn’t a whole lot of that anymore. But my daughter is 8 and she loves Astrobot, and It Takes Two.

I don’t know much about the game either.. if it was to be played with split screen co-op I would like to play it.

Super Smash Brothers is super fun.. I played it since the N64.. SSB Melee on GameCube was probably my favorite with Ultimate close behind..
Sony did come out with PlayStation All Stars Battle Royal on the PS3 and it was ok. So there is room for these type of games without being flooding one type of genre.

Re: Rumour: New Bungie Game Targets State of Play Reveal, Out on PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch

T-Bone09

Well I want them to succeed for the fact that I don’t want to see anymore layoffs from Bungie..

I might get this game for me and my daughter and see how it is. I try to be optimistic like I mentioned earlier..
It’s something different. How many MOBA do you see released in a year? Hardly any.
What makes SSB so fun is that its characters that we know and love on Nintendo..
This obviously isn’t apples to apples, but I do try to remain optimistic.

Re: Xbox Rips Off the Band Aid, 'Expect Our Games to Show Up in More and More Places'

T-Bone09

Most these games were planned to come to PS5 before the publishers were bought out by Microsoft.. Starfield was canned, not seeing it being announced for PS5 yet. HellBlade 2 was already coming to the PS5 before they got bought out.. I mean it came out on PS4..
Microsoft can’t survive because their fan base has dwindled down to a fraction of what it once was. GamePass isn’t taking off like they had planned.
So best alternative is to put the games that were going to be multiplatform anyway back to where it can sell more to make the money you needed to make to offset all the billions of dollars you spent.

Buying up a huge part of the gaming industry didn’t bode well for them.
Microsoft should just become a publisher and offer gamepass at this point.

Re: Spyro, Ratchet, Resistance Creator Ted Price to Retire from Insomniac

T-Bone09

I miss seeing interviews with Ted Price.. I will miss his creativity such as his work on Resistance Fall of Man.. I loved the Spider-Man games but I’m afraid that there will be Marvel fatigue with all these games coming out and I wish we had something new and original. And Ted has always had a creative and innovative approach to do something different. Ted Price, the best to you my man, you deserve it.

Re: Gummy Bears Details Leak, Bungie's MOBA Taken Under Sony's Wing

T-Bone09

Team Asobi should be involved in it.. that’s the dev that should been in the first place.
PlayStation characters would been a nice addition.
This Fortnite character layout just don’t look and I don’t know the reason why devs are going that route. The Horizon multiplayer game was rumored to be like that and it’s just not very appealing to be honest.

Re: Random: Sony's Electric Car Encourages You to Flaunt Your Astro Bot Fandom

T-Bone09

I like the car to be honest. I’m just not a huge electric car embracer.. I would have one as a second car. It’s nicer than most electric cars when looking from the technology and the functionality standpoint.
But yes 100k for a car is really too much to ask for an electric car that is meant to be an everyday vehicle.
Chevrolet Silverado RST EV and
Hummer 1st Edition both have 3 motors and the offering a lot more horsepower/ torque. The Chevrolet driving 440 miles on a charge.
Those are in $100k range which still is a lot to ask for.

Re: Rumour: PlayStation Is Working on Reviving Some of Its 'Deep Cut' Franchises

T-Bone09

I’ve been wanting a Warhawk game for so long now.. I’ve been having hope for this since 2012..
For the love of all that is holy.. just come through with it. This was your answer for a fun multiplayer title for all these years..
It still needs to be skill based not pay to win. But make it happen.. please.

Motorstorm will a nice but make it more like the first.
Resistant reboot would be nice.. RFOM was so good..
Socom.. don’t make me say anything else..

Jak and Daxter obviously, Dark Cloud, I’m sure there a more ps2 titles that I would love to see remake or sequel to if I wanted to keep going.

Re: Helldivers 2 Dev Is Starting to Think About What's Next

T-Bone09

I’m not all into acquisitions but Arrowhead studios would have been a great fit for them.
I mean they would have made a really good Warhawk remake.. playing HellDivers 2 gave me some of that level of fun I had back then..

But obviously I would want them to be at liberty to create their own games.

Re: Sony Promises It Hasn't Abandoned the Famous Franchises from Its Past

T-Bone09

My finest gaming experience was the PS3 era.. of course I loved the PS2 era and there are plenty of games that I wish they brought back.
Resistance Fall of Man was the best weapon layout of any game at the time. And the 40 player TDM was always fun and CTF was a thrill.. every gun had its own specialty.

This leads me to Warhawk on PS3.. not a spiritual successor like Starhawk, although the build and battle was quite nice. But Warhawk was the best experience I’ve had for a long time on the PS3.
Huge maps or small maps they were so much fun.. they really left a great game in the past..

And of course Socom. That can be their live service game that they are looking for. Call
Of Duty is beginning to get long in the tooth and their anti cheat is just letting everything in.
Socom can be Sony’s COD answer if they would just put the effort. They have a huge install base of these titles and they are just wanting to play the games that made them fall in love with PlayStation again..

Re: Square Enix Insists Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Hasn't Been the PS5 Sales Disaster It's Been Painted As

T-Bone09

Have it release same day on PC. PS5 and PC really don’t compete.
But when you look at FF7 Remake, it was released when the majority of people were home on lockdown. Console gaming was through the roof.. that and it was the long anticipated release from the PS3. Its tech demo/ game reveals for ps3 was from 2005..

The game was a great game I enjoyed Rebirth. But it’s kind of hard to think that it being console exclusive to PlayStation for so long that that’s the reason it may not have met their expectations.. when in all honesty its just because 2024 is a lot different than 2020.. the game industry was surging pretty good on all fronts.

Re: Intergalactic PS5 Is Naughty Dog's Wildest, Most Creative Story Yet

T-Bone09

I had a feeling they would be the ones to reveal their new game and man am i so happy they did. When I seen their first trailer, the Naughty Dog emblem I was like oh yea… but it was just the PC version of Last of Us 2.. and so I was kind of bummed out. So glad that they shown this tonight.
The best part of the night other than Astro Bot getting incredible recognition and Game of the Year.

Re: Sony Confirms Interest in Buying FromSoftware Parent Company Kadokawa

T-Bone09

I hope the deal goes through so the company can remain Japanese.
It’s crazy that Microsoft of all people were interested in buying them out. I’m sure they wanted their greasy hands on FromSoftware. I think Sony is a good buyer. They tend to do better not gutting the company. With Bungie they had a billion dollars just to retain the developers. Even though they laid off it wasn’t near as bad as Microsoft’s layoff with Bethesda and Activision employees.

Re: Sony Highlights Biggest PS5 Games for 2025 in New Trailer

T-Bone09

@LogicStrikesAgain
Yea I understand it sucks being gamers with the waiting game. Back during the launch of the PS3 I only had a few titles and I played the fire out of Resistance:FoM, that was some major fun multiplay with all the different weapons. Motorstorm came out in the last quarter of 06, there was some other games in between. But I had to really wait until 2007 for the onslaught of games to begin.. Warhawk, Folklore, Cod4, and Uncharted etc. The floodgates begin to open. And I say that to say this. PS3 was hard to dev for at first and PS5 it seems like it had a lot of great titles to come out then but the pace has been a lot differently.
This gen had great years but just fewer in between.Obviously it’s not over but I just wish it had a lot more depth. I’d liked have AA first party games instead of like 6 years in the making AAAA first party titles to play until the AAAA games released.

Re: Sony Highlights Biggest PS5 Games for 2025 in New Trailer

T-Bone09

@LogicStrikesAgain

As I mentioned they made two remasters. They have two dev teams. It’s ok to want to see what they’re cooking. It would be nice to see a trailer in 2025 or a timeline.
During PS3 era they released Uncharted in late 2007, Uncharted 2 was in 2009, and 3 came out in 2011. Last of Us was released in 2013

During PS4 era Last of Us released in 2014 Uncharted 4 came out in 2016
Last of Us 2 2020
That’s the last original titles.

PS5 had two remasters 2022 and 2024.
So of course people are eager to see a new title.
Trust me I know the whole dev timeline has prolonged to over 4-6 years. I get it and I understand the Factions 2 was dropped. But a lot of people weren’t expecting just to have remasters at this point.

Re: Sony Highlights Biggest PS5 Games for 2025 in New Trailer

T-Bone09

It’ll be 2025 and Naughty Dog still hasn’t announced their next title. I know it’s coming but just realized it’s been over 4 years now since the PS5 launched. Had two nice remakes but I’ve been anxiously waiting to hear about their next game.
Also Jade Ramond’s Haven Studios, I haven’t heard anything about them in a long time. I really hope their games succeeds.

Re: Rumour: Ubisoft Turmoil Continues as Shareholders Consider Buyout

T-Bone09

I’m not a fan of Tencent, I don’t see that doing Ubisoft any good, but it’ll probably happen unfortunately.. Tencent is going to try to buy their way to the top..

I wish Ubisoft could to find away to bring back their magic from the past without a takeover.. PS2/Xbox-PS3/360 era were their more prominent years that I remember with Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and Prince of Persia to name a few.

Re: PlayStation Joins Social Media Shift as Bluesky Rockets in Popularity

T-Bone09

@RoomWithaMoose

Hmmnn.. I tried to look for it a little bit but I couldn’t find it.. I did see where Google is being probed by a state elected AG for censorship back in October. And there have been statements made of them in the past of them leaning towards a certain political affiliation over another. From people who’s worked there and also just peoples opinions.
Some articles are opinion based, but if I see anything about what you mentioned I will be open minded to it.
