Ah, the classic strategy of telling fans to buy your upcoming game — or there simply won't be another one.
That's the way Koei Tecmo's approaching Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, apparently.
The remaster — which is really more of a remake — was announced during the most recent State of Play, for release in March 2026.
It's a revival that came as a bit of a shock for some, as plenty of fans theorised that the developer would opt to remake the more popular Dynasty Warriors 4 or Dynasty Warriors 5.

But starting at 3, with its slightly simpler design, makes some degree of sense considering the stance of series producer Tomohiko Sho.
In an interview with Japanese outlet Denfaminicogamer (as translated by Automaton), Sho explains that remaking a PS2 title is actually a surprisingly costly endeavour — especially when the goal is to shift everything to a new engine, and make various gameplay improvements.
It's "really difficult to achieve", he says.
But because development is such an effort, Sho admits that the Dynasty Warriors 3 remake needs to sell if there's going to be any hope of future remake projects.
"If this game isn’t successful, there won’t be a next one, so we’re looking forward to your support," he rather bluntly states.
Sho also confirms that, at the time of the interview, no other plans are in place for additional remakes or remasters. So that's that, we suppose.
