Sounds good and would be great if my Portal would actually connect to my PS5 now and again, but nope, connects maybe 1 in 10 tries, for 10 minutes of laggy unplayableness… looks nice on its little stand though.
@naruball same here, most of the time my portal is literally useless as it just won’t connect to my PS5, no matter all the “solutions” I’ve read online. Such a shame as when it works its great.
Nice review but I’ve noticed the last 3/4 reviews of big games I’ve read here always mention PS5 pro as the console it was reviewed on, which surely is a bit of a niche no? I’m guessing maybe like 5-10% maximum of players are on Pro? So maybe mix it up and start the review on base PS5 and then take your save over to Pro to make some comparisons? Just a thought as if I know what I’m talking about.
Super happy for this! A genuinely great game!! But please, please… don’t throw in a trophy as in the first remake of “play for 100+ hours”… that was a mood killer. Finished all other trophies in like 5 hours if that, and so basically have to leave the PS4/5 on over night for a week or more to earn that last one. Behave.
Saying “well you can always buy physical” isn’t quite correct if the vast majority of games on the PS store aren’t available as a physical release. Of course I don’t have the stats but I’d be willing to bet that most games, by a large margin, don’t get physical releases. Plus as others have pointed out, the lawsuit isn’t about pricing, Sony and Devs can charge what they want. The suit is about making digital games available on other online storefronts/retailers to enable competition and buyer choice.
Super hyped, for the visuals, it looks incredible. But are we then gonna be complaining that rockstar still have rubbish controls from the early 2000’s and 30fps? I was late to Red Dead 2 and playing at 30 after so many PS5 games had accustomed me to 60 made it so hard, I gave up, hoping for a 60fps update, even if I have to pay £10, which still hasn’t happened; but please, Rockstar, let’s see some updated controls and a reasonable performance mode and this could be the actual height of video games.
Seems to me if you’re eventually gonna put all Xbox games on all platforms, put masterchief collection out there and see the reaction. At least it’s not a new release, just a collection of 20 year old games, so low risk. If there’s some sort of revolt, then ok forget it then, but if it’s well received (which I’m 99% sure it would be) then move on from there. Personally, if I get to replay all the halo games with platinum trophies, I’ll pay £60 within seconds
@__jamiie couldn't agree more. It's the first console I've ever bought that has a tinge of regret, over 3 years later and im still thinking "what was really the point?". Hopefully it'll eventually do something spectacular but I'm worried that by the time that happens PS6 will already have been announced.
Does anyone know if there will be a separate platinum trophy for each game? I'm worried there will just be an overall platinum for all 6, but if there are 6 separate platinums I'll be all over this.
As many have said, this generation has barely started in terms of exclusive games that actually push the hardware. I felt a bit burned after getting the PS4 pro so there's absolutely no chance I'd get a PS5 pro this gen. I don't see what issue it would improve enough to justify it when by then people would already be talking about PS6 if Sony are this quick to churn out new revisions
I'm just worried (for myself!) That this will just drive up the hype for the next showcase to silly heights, only to be let down again. Not that it's Sony's job to cater to me personally, but it seems so rare that I really think wow that was an amazing announcement, and I'm pretty easy to please, just ask my masseuse
Having a direct the day AFTER PSVR 2 launched did seem odd timing, but once it was happening I honestly did expect a surprise banger of an announcement, either Alyx or GTA 5 VR, which in my opinion would have instantly sold alot of people on the device, GTA especially for the more casual folks on the fence about it. I know business isn't so simple but sometimes you think come on Sony just get Valve and Rockstar on board, give them a tasty cheque, and let's see what happens. I for one would absolutely pay full whack for both of them. I'll keep dreaming.
I do think alot of the complaining on Reddit and other places, this particular issue aside, seems to be down to over expectation. I was in the same boat. YouTube previews and reviews seemed to give the impression it was going to be crystal clear, usually because the reviewers used words such as "crystal clear", which simply isn't true. But once you accept that and just try to enjoy the games, it's great. It's still MUCH clearly than psvr 1, and all my other issues with the original have been solved, easy setup, amazing controllers, inside out tracking etc, so once I got over the "it isn't as clear as I was led to believe" problem, I've really loved it. In fact just today I've had 3 sessions on horizon, and each and every time I've smiled when the title screen opens up and that view hits you. I guess it's just a case of keeping hype in check from now on
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes!!! On of those rare times a genuinely weird yet amazing games gets a full on sequel, without a 20 year wait and a Kickstarter. I couldn't be more made up!
I'd pay £50 if they'd ever do the merseyrail network, just so I can be as excited as you guys getting to see your own area. And yes I'd be well aware that I'd paid like £500 overall to pretend to travel on a train I can go on in real life for like £5 😂
@Golem25 i must definitely have a case of nostalgia-itis coz I loved replaying them recently. Most probably down to the newer ass creeds taking approx 28473 hours to finish. It was just nice to have a straight forward story with a few collectibles thrown in, and no areas of the map basically locked off with level gating. Also they have gorgeous soundtracks!
Absolutely incredible game. It's one of those games that if you experienced it at the time, it just sort of stays in your memory as something really special forever. I remember talking about it with this really "hard" lad in work one day, an we both simultaneously looked at eachother and said "that ending tho" and both teared up! That was a proper gut punch ending (spoiler alert for a 21 year old game) that will probably always be my favourite ending of a game ever. Cried Infront of my girlfriend and she tried to make fun of me but then burst into tears herself 😂
I'll give everyone in this comments section a free tummy rub if no one mentions that this game was not so great at first but has been supported unbelievably well and is now awesome... Oh wait too late 😜 I'll just rub my own tummy til the next update then. To be fair tho I loved this from day 1. How can you not love this much ambition! And they've only gone on leaps and bounds ever since
I miss out on so many great games by being totally unable to handle horror games. Other than forcing myself to play through the many in my backlog I can't see how I'll ever change. Wish someone would invent a courage pill
Not sure how this can win game of the year when Balan Wonderworld is still available for purchase. Who cares what year it is when we could all be playing that instead 🥺
Good stuff. I know everyone's backlog is immense and I shake my head sometimes at how many assassins creeds I have finished on PS3/4 but due to re-releases still need to go back for the platinums... Still need to finish the trophies for revelations, rogue, syndicate, liberation and 3... I'm sure I'll find the time when I'm a pensioner or something 😓
FINALLY!!! waited years and years and then some more years for this!! And then I'll obviously end up disappointed that it's nothing like the original PSO on Dreamcast after all that build up 🤣
@TowaHerschel7 no i think we're fine to keep the games we actually purchase, and not just use through the service itself. Kind of like how if you bought PS1 classics years ago on PS3 or PSP, they're available to download for free on PS5 (well, once they've been included an made available on there I mean). But yeah actual purchases are separate, just as if you bought the game from the ps store normally. (Oh and if Sony make me a liar, then yeah they'll definitely be breaking some laws!) 😂
Not upgraded yet but downloaded Abe's Odyssey as I'd purchased it years ago and sadly no trophy list for that either. I know it's up to the developers if they'd like to add one but for me personally trophies were the main reason I was excited to replay these games, other than a quick 10 minute nostalgia scratch, shame
@Kidfunkadelic83 true but switch finally has folders and I'm left waiting on PS5 😫 I know people have moaned for them forever and it's a bit boring now but come on Sony bloody hell
Huge multi-billion dollar company outsources remaster to developer who previously did a half-assed job on the same games several years ago... Developer does a half-assed job again... Company charges £55 for 15-20 year old "remasters" which make a mockery of the originals... Honest user reviews are honest. No problem here. Either do a better job at remastering the games or, Rockstar, use a better developer to remaster your games. Bluepoint may be untouchable at this kind of thing but that doesn't mean Grove Street have to be utterly incompetent.
I get that the upgrade to PS5 is free so I shouldn't complain too much but if you could describe the most bare bones kind of upgrade this would be it. Still a fun game and another excuse to grab the platinum again, but bit of a missed opportunity to really kick it up a notch with some genuine PS5 features.

Got this with my Sega Saturn for Xmas along with sega rally and it's probably the last time I was genuinely amazed by "next gen"! Blew my little mind at the time. Still love the atmosphere of tomb raider it's a genuinely immersive experience
Absolutely loved it on PS4, game of the generation for me (althought to be fair, my backlog is ridiculous so maybe Ill find a new game of that gen one day)... Same as others here I've deleted my save to go for the platinum from scratch again, can't wait
@Orpheus79V I was about to say this. Considering you had some reviewers that saw the game as I did, a genuine masterpiece that had me totally absorbed for weeks... And others who thought it was incredibly boring... I think these are good numbers. Sadly though I'm guessing they aren't quite good enough for a direct sequel, which I'd buy in an instant. But atleast it's enough to fund whatever Kojima is upto next.
Absolutely loved it first time around, one of the best atmospheres I've "felt" since ocarina of time, the original tomb raider, hollow knight... Can't wait to do it again but there's a part of me that is worried a second play through will spoil it for myself. Won't be able to say no though. TLOU 2 though?... That could do with a director's trim down if anything, felt like it dragged on an turned into a bit of a slog, but maybe that was the point with it being so grim overall.
Just recently finished the story and almost got the platinum, an while I'm sure I've had a much better experience than early adopters by playing post patches (only one crash, the odd weird glitch with ncps) it's been fine. Obviously that kind of detail couldn't be done on cyberpunks scale, but I gotta say I prefer the tiny detailed world over the huge plastic one. Ok game though!
I remember the news of this originally as mentioned in the article and I was super excited for trophy support for previous gen games, would have been amazing replaying the original tomb raider or metal gear solid with the added incentive of trophies... Years later we're still waiting, just seems like such a missed opportunity.
I didn't think I was too bothered until I switched to the graphics mode on Control Ultimate Edition after about 20 hours of playing the performance mode and oh my hairy Jesus was it a shocker. No amount of sexy ray tracing was going to stop my eyes from feeling like they were going to pop out of my head and throw themselves off a cliff in protest
As long as they confirm we can still download our previously purchased games it's not the end of the world but if they prevent us from doing that it will further fuel my distaste for digital only games... I mean it can't cost that much to keep these stores open right? Especially with reports of PSN making more money than Nintendo and Xbox combined, paying a few Devs to keep the stores ticking over will hardly bankrupt Sony.

Wouldn’t mind a native PS5 version of Skyrim to get that platinum all over again to be honest. I mean, minimal effort, extra coin for Bethesda right?
