Like I said, I specifically pointed out humans being more varied and complex in other games. Even Arthur Morgan movement and combat options are very lacking compared to Ellie, Snake etc...

The point is, rdr 2 isn't even a top 10 game of the gen. Its open world and story is a game of the generation worthy, but it lacks in other areas. If humans are going to be the only enemies, make them feel fresh and unique. The gameplay is not up there and it's a shame people today take story over gameplay. I like to replay games too. Example: dmc 5 not being nominated or doom eternal having the 7th position in terms of awards.

I even say the music as weak imo. I have a youtube playlist of music I liked, I have some of the songs liked, but I usually never replay them.

I would literally care if I had a ps5. Waiting for Liam to give one as a present for being a good direspectful biotch boy on this site.

@Agramonte that is true. Nintendo depends solely on their first party. If they fail, the console's year is dry. Luckily I think nintendo output was higher than sony's first 4 years.

@Col_McCafferty Now The Witcher 3 is better than rdr2 in gameplay too. Idc if it's the theme of it, but witcher 3 has a huge chunk of enemies, including humans that are different too, although Geralt's combat options should have been expanded.

@Col_McCafferty @TheArt Last of us, Uncharted, Metal Gear 5 all have human as enemies and all of them are better in there and there are variety in those. Every enemy in red dead seems the same guy with a different skin and acts the same way. Melee in tlou 2 and mgs5 is better and more complex and effective.

Again, they didn't pick gow because rockstar wins too much. Why did they pick ND this year then? The logic you both have that games win because of politics is far fetch. These are video games after all.

It seems you only care about graphics, story and the game being longer over gameplay, which imo it's a bad view to have when it comes to GAMES.

They need Kojima and Sony Japan to make anime/cartoon type of games to regain it. Ghost did it pretty well there. You just have to cater to it but Nintendo is impossible to defeat in jAPAN

@Agramonte Sony has slow years too. In 2014 it was just infamous ss, 2015 bloodborne and until dawn which is small and 2019 both ds and dg didn't deliver. Talking triple A here

@JustPlainLoco no way spiderman is on 2022. They just made miles and are making ratchet. Late 2023 at best. I think Kojima has a better chance at 2022 since he is better motivated to making that horror game. Can't predict what sony will have for 2022

Gameplay should always be a priority. It's why a game is a game. That's not the reason it won. It won because of gameplay. Those combos, more variety in enemies, how the combat is better pace, those aiming controls for the axe is miles above rdr2. I think on story both are equally good. I think both are the best stories I played this gen.

It's not crap, but it's the same as gta 5 with animals into the mix and slightly better melee combat.

@KippDynamite I play one game at a time. Sometimes 2. I left Nioh 2 to beat like 6 or 7 games and now I'm back on it, to beat for sure because after that, is Dark souls remastered and dark souls 2 and I'm ps5 ready.

I can keep up but if I only play 2-3 at a time. After some years, those 2 or 3 change to another 2-3. I prefer co-op and single player games with an ending.

But I CANNOT play mmos, battle royale and survival games (dayz, ark, tarkov etc..). Too time consuming.

I can keep up some types of games. Atm I'm thinking rocket league, rogue company and fall guys. Temtem might be next.

Dropped fortnite and tlou factions which wasn't a service game. Gotta get back to monster hunter world. Dropped brawlhalla, killing floor 2, siege, overwatch and paladins. Imo multiplayer was weak this gen.

I did beat 26 games this year and in my eyes it was more enjoyable than some other years where I play 2-3 multiplayer games a lot and beat about 10 or less games.

Oh, but it adds to it.The point is, even if the game is unfinshed, broken, recycled and resold, gamers have low standards when it comes to games and still buy them. They don't stand for anything. They just take everything without filtering first, and it has cost great franchices to become worthless in the eyes of the most experienced.

Example. Now I won't enjoy the next pokemon games because they won't have a full pokedex, leaving out my favorite pokemons to use on the campaign and online. Because others simply didn't care or don't care about getting a better product.

@Iroha Faaaaacts. Pokemon sword and shield didn't have the full pokedex, and it was the best selling entry, people bought the dlc. No problem whatsover. I expect the next entries to be the same with the same unfinished dex.

Same thing with anual sports games, wii u resold games at full price, timed games like mario collection etc...

I applaud older generations when it comes to this. they value money.

@Col_McCafferty You is right. There is enough varierty for everyone. Just note that a second DS won't happen because sony seems to be more focused on system sellers this upcoming gen and I explained just why.

Journalists and Gamers are catering more and more to games that are cinematic. The industry is changing and although sony games have great gameplay, stuff like devil may cry and doom have no chance on winning goty. DS got the most goty awards, and it fails at the most important thing in video games. Fun and gameplay.

There isn't even an award for best gameplay/combat etc...

Also. Consistency. I don't know if push square does it, but if Pushsquare voted for DS as goty, but gave dmc 5, re2, sekiro, control, outerworld etc... all better scores then something is wrong with the review system because it's not reflecting how you feel about the game.

DMC 5, mario maker 2, astral chain, fire emblem etc... all had better scores than control, outerworlds and DS, but lets nominate the games we scored lower? huh???

Other sony games were profitable. Why DS wasn't? Because it's a walking sim on an empty world with a great movie to go along with it. I'm not reviewing it. It just doesn't appeal to me. Just like fallout, animal crossing, call of duty, sports games etc... etc...
Aka the year sony didn't release a 90 rated game for the first time. He failed when he was chosen to do that.
