@BrotherFilmriss I'm thinking of replaying Uncharted (got the PS5 collection) or something else linear as a palette cleanser. I can imagine any other open world game feeling hollow after this
An amazing game. I have a short attention span and tend to be urging a game I'm playing to finish as I'm keen to start the next one. Elden Ring is the first time I can remember dreading the ending. I know I'm in the endgame but just don't want it to end. I've never done a NG+ before, but I am sorely tempted, even though I have Horizon and a bunch of other games waiting to be started. Early days, but it will take some doing for this to be anything other than game of the generation for me, utterly sublime
Not gonna lie, this could be pretty huge. I do wonder how it will work with likes of EA and Ubi though, who have their own streaming services with similar systems
Definitely Elden Ring. I've only played about 30 mins of Horizon to be fair, but I will be shocked if anything beats Elden Ring for me this year. Or even this generation, frankly
My son still plays it all the time (completed it god knows how many times!) and it actually does crash from time to time for him so hopefully this will fix that
@HotGoomba real life has pretty good graphics but the gameplay is trash imo. The currency system is terrible, even worse than GT7, the grind is ridiculous.
Damn, I've been meaning to give this a go at some point. I generally give anything anime wide berth but I've heard it's good. Can't imagine I'll touch it within the next month though.
This will help fuel the flames of certain sections of the fan base who believe MS are buying Sega, despite the fact that Fallout 4 is still on there!
This is absolutely true, and I really think it is what could lose Sony its place in the market. In all honesty, the biggest problem PSNOW really had was perception - besides the day one exclusives the selection wasn't a million miles away from Gamepass but the difference is MS threw their weight behind GP and clearly communicate it and it's benefits, as well as a concerted effort to get people on board with enticing promotions and early deals. By contrast, there is still a sizeable contingent of people who still think PSNOW is purely a streaming service.
More Elden Ring, with a smattering of Horizon FW. Only just started both, and a chest in Elden Ring just teleported me to some sort of crystal maze I suspect I'm dramatically under levelled for, with centipede buggers firing at me, so I'm hoping to be able to make it out of there with all my limbs still in place
@LN78 at least you don't buy them day one and then don't even get round to playing them until months later because you're already in the middle of a game. I bought this and Horizon day one and by the time I actually get round to them I'm sure they'll both be £10-£20 cheaper. But I'll never learn 😕
Still trying to get to the end of Dark Souls 2 (on the last DLC now before I tackle the end game) before I love onto Horizon Forbidden West, and then finally into Elden Ring after that
@DrClayman Ah I see, I didn't realise that they make a point of suggesting players can actually make money from the game. Yeah, that is pretty scummy then, and is at odds with what LBP and Dreams do, which is much more in the spirit of just a big playground to make things and share with other users. I'm pretty sure there are no suggestions of monetising creations at all in those games, either on the part of the players or the game itself
@tomassi I'm honestly not trying to troll because I genuinely don't know, but what makes that any different than, say, Dreams or LittleBigPlanet? Other than microtransactions?
Weren't too bad. State of plays have never been overly exciting. Sony have a clear pattern in announcing the real exciting stuff either in their showcases (games) or blog posts (hardware or business moves such as acquisitions), so it was pretty much what I expected
Seriously though, I know it's been said, but this year has been absolutely insane, especially for PlayStation players. I think we could draw a line under the year 2 months in and I'd be more than happy
I've got so much to play but I'm so deep into Dark Souls 2 that I can't really see myself starting Horizon or Elden Ring until I've finished it off. Most of the base game is clear so just making my way through the DLC this weekend before finally polishing it off in the week
Obviously a nice thing, but a part of me can't help but imagine Sony saying through gritted teeth "play the damn game, of the environment gets it!" 😂
I have been hankering to finally start cyberpunk recently, but holding out on the next gen version so hope it's this. That said, between Horizon, Elden Ring, buying Kena and Uncharted collection last week on a whim and finally getting into Dark Souls 2, I think I'm good for games for a while...
Yeah, that's where I am, and haven't even reached the boss yet! Only played an hour or 2 so far though, so by no means finished with it. My feeling is I mastered Sekiro eventually, so I must be able to master this!
@Stragen8 I may be completely wrong, but it's my understanding it won't make a blind bit of difference to the size on the harddrive, since physical games are just installed on the harddrive nowadays anyway
Disappointed in Sony for this, it's very clearly banking on those less informed individuals to squeeze some extra cash out after being forced to climb down on the free upgrade in the first place. It's pretty sleazy and doesn't help the narrative of Sony bring anti consumer
@RevGaming Brad says it right at the start of the episode when he's trying to convince them to add a battle royale mode.
On a side note, it amused me whenever they had clips from Horizon in-between scenes, as it took me a while to realise that the actress who plays Aloy is also the tester girl
I watched an episode of Mythic Quest the other day, co-produced by Ubisoft, where one of the characters lists Hyper Scape alongside the likes of Call of Duty and describes it as a "mega franchise". It was genuinely the funniest line in the show - wishful thinking of Ubisoft's part
I have both consoles, I probably play more XSX than anything. But this leaves an incredibly sour taste in my mouth, and I can't help but worry about what it will mean for the industry.
Got Deathloop on PS5, Guardians for XSX and Metroid Dread for Switch. Only managed 20 minutes on Guardians so far, but hope to make a start on Deathloop on Sunday
@Yomogi if Switch got Vice City (as part of the expansion for their online service) then I'd be able to play the whole thing across 3 different consoles! As you say though it's unlikely, which is a shame as VC is the only one I'd I'm really interested in!
@themightyant Same. I actually tried it at an event and was completely blown away with the shark demo and ordered one there and then. Unfortunately, the shark demo was about the only thing I could play on it. I kept trying to persevere with it but couldn't manage to keep the sickness at bay, and eventually sold it to my nephew. It's such a shame because when by body could take it, it was an unbelievable achievement, and I really hope advances in tech can help. But as you said, I am skeptical
Now my question is, will I be able to take advantage of the patch that allows it to run at 60fps on PS5? Seeing as Now doesn't yet support PS5 games, yet this isn't a native PS5 game...
Regardless, hopefully it is a permanent addition. I wouldn't mind playing through again, but probably not so soon after finishing it the first time around...
For a while it looked like the industry was heading towards a sort of hegemony, where you could play any games anywhere. However, it feels like this generation more than any other will be the generation where exclusives are the kingmakers. I'm glad to have all 3 consoles, for the first in fact, but feel for those who can't as whichever you choose it feels like you'll miss out on a massive amount for the next few years.
The only exception seems to be PC - perhaps the savviest thing would be to just get a PC and Switch. Unfortunately, I really can't stand playing on PC!
Marvellous game. By far the games I've spent the must time on with my PS5 has been this, a replay of Bloodborne (finally doing the DLC) and Returnal, which I just made significant progress with after months of banging my head against the brick wall of biome 3. After I'm thinking of having a crack at Dark Souls 3 or Nioh.
All in all PS5 has turned into my console of choice for ball busting difficulty! Surprised my controller has lasted this long
@nessisonett perhaps, but on the other side of the coin the streaming wars have been a wonder for the TV production industry. I'm an editor and there is a glut of work out there for quality drama. So, it may not be perfect for consumers, but streaming wars could be boon for video game production and those who work in it. Hopefully it would equate to better working conditions as talent becomes more scarce

FIFA22 is interesting, but I assume it'll be on EA Play next month if they're putting it on Plus so I'll just get it on Gamepass
