Sounds great, although assuming it cannot be used for physical games? Would be great if they implemented maybe some sort of requirement for a physical game to access the internet maybe every few weeks to remain tied to your account, but I guess that's a lot more leg work for them...
What I do wonder is whether this could be replicated via Chiaki at all....
Hoping it comes to Steam within the year - my PS5 lives in my son's room now, so I pretty much exclusively play on PC now. I loved GOT though, so excited to try this out
I seem to remember the modern day sections in Black Flag revolved around an evil French Canadian game publisher... it'd be a shame is this is an example of Ubisoft airbrushing it's history to remove a light hearted bit of self deprecation in favour of more bland corporate conformity
I'm conflicted on this as on one the hand I find the RPG, bloated nature of modern ACs terrible, to the degree that I haven't played much more than an hour or so of any of them since Origins, having previously been a fan of the series.
But on the other hand, I always felt remaking Black Flag seemed utterly pointless. So at least this would give it a reason to exist, even if it's something completely unappealing to me
I played the multiplayer back in uni more than 15 years ago ago, but recently got round to playing the campaigns (as got my first ever Xbox a couple of years ago), and really wasn't impressed.
However, much like my continued dislike of pretty much all Bethesda games, I have to realise that I'm in the minority
@Netret0120 I got 2/3 way through it on gamepass but then went on holiday for a week and wanted something to play on Steam Deck - so bought it on Steam. First time I've ever done that but don't regret my decision in the slightest. Now I've gone through it all, and upgraded all characters to the max and just need to beat the final optional boss to have 100% completion... and still not ready to put it down. Very rare for me, game of the generation for me so far (and I have never completed a turn based game before)
Hmm I get that studios are facing enormous pressures right now and have the utmost sympathy for them, but if the complaints are legitimate (rather than the usual practice of bombing a game that dares have a female character in it) then this sort of plea leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Reviews are there to inform consumers, and artificially boosting it by emotionally blackmailing your fans rather than addressing their concerns will just hoodwink unsuspecting users into buying a subpar product
Easy 10/10 - had it on gamepass and decided to buy on Steam too. Never enjoyed a turn based game before, but this really is something else. An astonishing achievement
I've never got on with turn based games - until now. Only a couple of hours in but already gagging to play more and surprised at how much I'm enjoying the combat
Everyone (me included) expected SH2 remake to be terrible, but it ended up being one of my favourite games of last year and completely turned my expectations on Bloober Team around. Couldn't care less about them this time last year, but I'm suddenly quite optimistic on this!
@3Above I've pretty much fully moved over to PC now, so would personally jump at the chance for Gravity Rush on Steam - especifically as it would mean I could also play them on Steam Deck
I may be in a minority, but personally I'm a little disappointed - I don't really get a lot out of standard hacky slashy gameplay, and was hoping for more of a Serkiro-like experience; I just find it a lot more satisfying.
That said, I'm fine to be in the minority if everyone else is happier with this approach
I really enjoyed my time with Wukong - put in around 30 hours, finished the standard ending over the weekend and currently stuck on trying to finish the final secret ending. But in my mind it is not deserving of GOTY - dodgy optimisation, relentless invisible walls and some really poor level design. That being said ots still a good game, great even, but its own fans and it's own developer have really let it down
I miss physical media more and more as time goes by. Outside of the sheer joy of having everything on a shelf and easily being able to spot what I want to watch or play, there are so many other advantages.
Personally, I'm still someone who holds the preowned market in high regard, and that's why I always prefer to opt for physical. I very, very rarely go back to games (outside of a few classics) and always like the option to offset the cost of a new game by selling old ones on eBay.
Movies have the bigger problem of their distribution being so spread out - trying to find a specific movie and figuring out if I already have access to it via a subscription service or if I need to buy it digitally, and then making sure the service I'm buying it from has an app on the TV on want to watch it on... it is all such a hassle, and to be honest has made me far less likely to bother than when I just had a few shelves full of DVDs.
@Nepp67 currently the second top comment on a post by Alannah Pearce on X announcing she is leaving Sony Santa Monica is someone saying she performed sexual favours to get her job and that's why God of War is "terrible".
That's not a different viewpoint, it's just unmoderated and disgusting misogyny being promoted because the user has paid for a bluetick. I suspect it's stuff like that which is why some users feel compelled to move
@GreatAuk of course it is, they saw a gap in the market.
Conversely, I can't understand why those who still enjoy Twitter are so affronted by those wanting to try somewhere else. They didn't like the changes to the platform, so decided to start using a different one and leave those who still enjoy Twitter to hang out there.
Let everyone just enjoy the things they want to - and to bring it back to topic, it absolutely makes sense for PlayStation to also set up shop there to reach as many people as possible. Because, as you alluded to, at the end of the day it is also just a business and will operate in its best interests to generate revenue, irrespective of any perceived agendas.
@GamingFan4Lyf I get your point but sometimes I do want to hear other people's opinions, even those I disagree with, and that's what you used to get with Twitter, but now the culture war stuff is prioritised over genuine informed content. And that is why Blue Sky is an attractive proposition
@GreatAuk Well that's not what I said is it. It's great to engage in healthy debate - it's not so great to wade through the same far right misinformed nonsense and bots that have been pushed to forefront by an agenda pushing algorithm to find the content you actually went on there for. If I go there looking for gaming news, I don't want to see a dozen posts ranting about wokeness, DEI or Sweet Baby Inc for engagement before I find an actually informative post
@MatthewJP it's all very well and good allowing all to have their say, but having been on it for a good number of years now I have definitely noted that the posts espousing a particular world view are now far more prevelant on my timeline than previously, and with the monetisation of the platform being particularly attractive to those on the politically right side of the spectrum those views are continuing to be pushed to the front. It seems to me that Bluesky is a bit of an echo chamber by virtue of its userbase being largely those who reject X, whereas X is an echo chamber by design. Either way, it presents a warped view of reality
This might be a scenario where 'comment off' is the best approach. The response to this topic encapsulate why a number of people are keen to leave Twitter/X in the first place
I feel Wukong has been massively propped up by weird folk who seem to think it is a savior of gaming taking a stand against "woke". I enjoyed it for what it is but beat the snow level a few months back and really not feeling the motivation to go back and finish it
@Kidfunkadelic83 I was about the suggest you give it a go as it really isn't too scary, but on reflection the best thing about it is an overriding sense of dread and feeling uncomfortable, and if that's not your idea of a good time I doubt this would change your opinion!
I'm up to the hosptial and its a strong 8 for me, and far better than I had imagined. Performance isn't great is my main gripe, although as I'm playing on PC not sure if that's just my rig (although playing at 1080 on a 4060 so would have thought that would be ok!) Atmosphere is bang on though, which was always the main concern going in
@Voltan If memory serves, Rockstar games only ever seem to stay on Gamepass or PS Plus for around 3-6 months at a time, and tend to rotate between the two services. So I wouldn't be surprised to see RDR2 back on Gamepass again in the next couple of months
@crossbit thanks, that's good to know, I also avoid voice chat so good to know you've had a good experience. It's only £20 on PC so may take the plunge
Is this worth diving into it? I've been tempted for a while, but would need to play with randoms as none of my mates are big gamers? Are the servers still active enough, and is playing with randoms any good?
I'm terrible for buying tech that I really don't need, upgraded to PS4 Pro, have a PS5, Series X, Switch OLED, Steam Deck OLED, recently upgraded my workstation with a 4060 and am even thinking of grabbing a PS Portal. But I gotta say, even disregarding the price I've got absolutely no interest in this at all. The PS4 Pro had the 4K factor, but I really dont see what will excite people about this enough to pay so much
