@tameshiyaku Completely agree with you about the price. I don't buy any games other than Nintendo first party ones at launch because they drop so quickly. In doing that though I am contributing to them becoming a flop and reducing the possibility of sequels. Same with PS+ Extra. I just wait for them to turn up on there instead of buying them. I will only have myself to blame when all we have left is Fifa and CoD.

I wasn't previously aware of Bubsy 3D so I just googled it and OH GOD, MY EYES!

So is this game free-to-play or not?

@theMEGAniggle That has always been my fear with the whole subscription model. To be fair though we probably need to wait for the end of the year with Xbox to see if Redfall and Starfield has managed to shift some consoles. Otherwise they might soon regret all those promises not to make CoD exclusive.

The Switch is 6 years old and has sold over 120 million units so I wouldn't crow too loudly about managing to finally outsell it for once. For Xbox sales to fall at this point is really poor though - Game Pass not the system seller Microsoft thought?

@4kgk2 After watching the showcase yesterday I was left wondering whether the Series S would even be able to handle it? But I admit to knowing f all about technical stuff.

I thought it looked pretty darn incredible. With this and the Tears of the Kingdom trailer earlier it has been some Thursday

I have absolutely no grasp as to what this game is. Third Person adventure game? Stealth game? Platformer collect-a-thon? I honestly don't know what it is. Hopefully it reviews well but screams 7/10 at me thus far.

@lacerz There are reasons to use adblockers other than just to avoid seeing adverts as they also protect your data. It's pretty low to ask for a subscription to help out with running costs, which I have no issue with, but then threaten people into either forcing them to pay up or having to change the way they view websites.

@antdickens That's unnecessarily threatening. Definitely put me off subscribing now.

@Impossibilium I said that about NintendoLife and then realised I'm an idiot and had an adblocker turned on! Anyway they still aren't bad here, certainly not worth paying to remove. I actually wouldn't mind if they paywalled some stuff (as long as it was all new content) to convince me to subscribe.

It needs a system seller. Simple as that. From what I hear the best use for it so far is to augment existing games (GT, Resi Evil), but without a AAA game release for itself it is relegated to the role of very expensive accessory, rather than a platform in its own right. unfortunately the lower the numbers it sells in, the less likely that is to happen.

Assuming it's a similar size to the Zero Dawn expansion that's pretty great value, especially as the base game is now on PS+ Extra. Actually come to think of it if I play Forbidden West on PS+ can you still pay for the DLC? And if so what then happens if you stop paying the PS+ sub? You lose everything, even the DLC you paid for I suppose?

@UltimateOtaku91 Nice to know there is someone out there so level headed on the internet! Really refreshing to be able to debate these things calmly rather than just flinging mud at each other. I agree, on the face of it a digital collectable sounds fun, this just isn't the way to go about it. I don't fully understand nfts either, not by a long shot, but I think that's exactly what these companies that embrace them are banking on.

@Cherip-the-Ripper I did mean Hogwarts but yes you're right! Mad! On a positive note what a brilliantly eclectic top ten - lots of single player games, RPGs, genre titles, platformers, racing, FPS - a real mix.

All these boycotts making a real difference I see. I'm genuinely glad for the developers that they are getting the success they deserve.

I have never played a Yakuza game but was thinking of giving them a shot as they look great. Can anyone recommend where I should start out of the ones available on PS+ Extra? I was thinking Yakuza 0?

@Grumblevolcano Thanks for the heads up - I'm off to claim them all right now why I can. Was worried they would disappear entirely but sounds like I can keep playing them as long as I have claimed them already.

Whether the exact numbers are correct or not the pre-orders have obviously been disappointing for Sony. Originally you could only pre-order by invitation but that obviously didn't sell them out so now the unit is available to everyone and still is. The bigger question is why this is a surprise to anyone? It was blindingly obvious this thing is too expensive. It doesn't matter how much tech you are getting for your money, it is still a luxury that the vast majority of us just cannot justify.

The reviews aren't terrible enough to justify trying to hide the game from reviewers. Metacritic has a fair few reviews but from a weird selection of sites. 6/10, not awful, just meh. Expect the average score to come down though when the sites that got shafted have their say - this move is hardly likely to get them onside is it?

@RudeAnimat0r I never had an issue with them. They were all pretty straightforward and short with plenty of checkpoints. They did slow down the story without adding much but I don't really understand the strong dislike. I am aware I am in the minority here though.

Do we know where this will be set? Is it Manhattan again? My main issue was that as fun as it was to swing around - and the movement really was exceptional - the actual setting didn't really add much. There was nothing to explore or interact with, it was just an excuse to swing from A to B. I would like the location to add something more this time around, like little surprises at the top of buildings to discover, or little sidequests that aren't simply icons on a map.

Surprised they hadn't retooled this as a free-to-play title as it seems pretty obvious it is going to bomb hard when it eventually does get released. At least as a live service game it stands a chance.

Devil May Cry 5 is meant to be excellent and I've never played Life Is Strange so I'm pretty happy.

As for Premium, well at least there are some PS1 games this time I suppose, even if I did have to google Star Wars Demolition.

So to summarise - We have no idea what any of these studios are working on, except Insomniac. Literally everybody else is just guesswork.

Seriously? This is the best month since I started subscribing. Always wanted to play Jedi and Axiom Verge 2 but hadn't got round to buying them. Will check out Fallout now that it is fixed and good (I think?).

@ShogunRok Appreciate this may be too late to ask a question but I have only read 2 reviews for this, yours which was glowing, and another that said the game was virtually unplayable due to the bugs, glitches and crashes. They went as far to call it a Cyberpunk level disaster. Did you encounter anything like that?

In case people are unsure - you can either renew at your current level for the discount or if you want to upgrade you first pay the amount to upgrade for however long was remaining on your initial subscription, then go back in and the option to add another annual subscription will now be there.

I have stacked for 2 years at Extra for about £110 after ShopTo discounts. Well happy with that. Wondering if I should add a third year?

@jdv95 Nice. If you top up your wallet with the PSN cards from Shoptp you can a year of Extra for about 55 quid.

If you use the vouchers from ShopTo then a year of Extra costs £70. I will literally not have to spend any money on a game in 2023 beyond that. Fantastic value for someone like me who missed all these titles first time round.

I reckon it's like when you spend 2 hours cooking a meal. You lose perspective and end up a bit underwhelmed in your creation, thinking of all the stuff you could have done differently or added to it, even though everyone else loves it.

@LiamCroft Sounded too good, thanks for the clarification. I guess the answer is to keep an eye on that 'last chance to play' section or whatever it's called.

@thefourfoldroot1 It's perfect for people like me who never had a PS4. I can imagine though that if you are up to date with releases then it is a harder sell. I wonder if they will add more games like Stray on Day One or whether that was a one-off?

@TaMpA_bLaCk Really? So everyone who claimed Red Dead 2 for example before that left still have access to it? That's pretty great then. If you delete it for space can you redownload it though in the future?

The rotation is a necessary evil of the subscription model but it is one of the reasons I've never really been a fan of the industry moving in this direction. Extra is still brilliant value but I do fear the day that I am 50 hours deep into some RPG only to see it disappear before I reach the end.
